well Roseland weather who was judy garland's personal assistant we saw the year in that clip during her London shows in 1968 joins me now what did you think of the film I loved it wonderful I'm so glad that you didn't feel strange your sale oh it screams completely I'm actually not yes and imagine Renuka what Rennie as as Judy was that quite spooky when you saw her cuz I really get so doesn't she know I know I spent quite a few hours with her at the end of the time together she sort of walked away and I knew that she was just gonna go up and sit in a room and sort of let it all trickle down yeah ticket and absolutely take Carolyn she was remarkable Judy Garland there's never been anyone like her they never know be anyone like her but when you met her it was towards the end of her career she saw fragile when she tell me ain't such a good word absolutely she was completely fresh are tiny and in the movie and you're quite Rosalyn is quite such a matter of fact with though do you think that was the best way to the handler you know just to sort of see I'm just a very minor factor but she responded to you I know bina and she took it from you and you said no get on that stage she went really well yes but I mean the essence of trying to get somebody to do something is to be nice to them being kind to that yeah and believe in themselves and make them think that they can do what you want them to do she didn't have any independence of thought it was get up Judy sit down do you take these pills do to go to bed Judy and she'd lost the ability to be her own person no that's really oh that's really a student that makes perfect sense when she was out the talk of the town this sort of I mean this is only six months before her death then she was doing these concerts when she was on Wow there was no one to touch her was there I mean oh you know when she pulled out she really really connected with the audience and yes members on a good night once huge sort of done that yeah and she went on and she was wonderful when was the voice exactly as good as it had been 20 years before probably not but that didn't matter there was still this star quality which some people just had yeah and she had it in spades and that's all there was to it unfortunately at that time it was you see in the movie she was erratic yeah yeah of course you have everybody else that we're lucky because thank you preview but and you see her erratic she isn't and sometimes it was absolutely heartbreaking you know and she goes on and she's rushed for rear she's thinking - you know she's drank too much think too many pills and the audience throw bread rolls around this room and was that actually home I know but she would have been yes well you do have to remember that at that stage she had probably arrived about an hour and a half late right so you're kind of testing the audience oh gee yeah you know if you're going on at 11:00 and you arrive at 12 or 12 13 and then then you do finally agree to go on I mean you can't perform because you're so know that you can't do it but you you were very good with the fact that you know as you said people give her pills from a tiny child you know she was given amphetamines to keep a week and then she was given sleeping pills to go to sleep if you could persuade her to go you know she left Bert the the musical director she trusted him yeah and it was like a sort of short gap between the prompt corner where she went on and and the orchestra and I'd say there you know he's over there and you know you can trust him yes so that's fine and you know if you have a problem you can always come back and it'll be okay and I think it was that people always respond or mostly they respond to people who give them confidence and make them believe in themselves yes and that was definitely what you've been able to do for her I wish more people hard I mean shoot it just seems to me that most of the people in our life used an abuser absolutely you know it's just so sad and I think that's really evident I mean there are some interesting scenes where she's with Louis be mayor and I mean you see the difference I mean the power always exuded by him hmm and what chance would a child stand nun boots every as their mother doesn't heal her no no no absolutely she was a really sort of stage mother that's what she did so no no a lot of young kids at that time I mean Elizabeth Taylor was another good example some of them withstood it better than others yeah I mean like Shirley Temple eventually became an ambassador that's true first um but but Judy I think was just so beaten up that she didn't make it well tell you about I think Kim vini does her Prodi I mean it's a remarkable Patil it really is astonishing I mean I I laughed and I cried a lot it's very moving the portrayal of a lifetime yeah truly one of the greatest screen rolls amazing absolutely amazing Rosen thank you for sharing your memories that's my boy I would like to crack open a bottle of champagne with you thank you so much thank you and the movie Judy is out in cinemas next weightings deep do not miss it you
