It's been a struggle but i'm surviving

ah good morning empowerment simple praise ye the Lord praise got Amazing Grace how sweet the sound God is so good we gonna come before you and go to the throne and pray if everyone can bow they his and hold your neighbors hand I greatly appreciate that DeeAnn precious God father God we stand before you one more time just to say thank you Father God you've been so merciful so good to us father God we just kind of say thank you Father God some of us are not worthy of all the grace and mercy you have grant us father go but we've said thank you for the God because you are forgiving God father God you loved us man we won don't we do we don't now love ourselves as we should father God father God we ask you to come into this house Lord father God set the atmosphere Lord let the Holy Spirit one from the front door to the pulpit father God father I touch everyone in his room father God as we embark on mental health and month father God then maybe somebody that's going through loneliness that maybe the press father god that may be said by the guy may have a child or may be addicted to something father god father God we asking you to break it in the name of Jesus father God father God some of us may be just struggling financially maybe sick in our body father God but father God we know you could do all things father God we thinking you right now for breaking every yoke father God every so time every stronghold any chain Robin are we here to change breaking right now father God and for that we say thank you Father God but that we need strength father God we need to be renewed for the God we ask you to cleanse us from any unrighteousness and these sins that we may have committed by thought word needle head father God and Father God as we leave us and just as you lead us in this place father guy we asked you to touch every ministry father God every person in this room everyone that's on their way bless all three services for the God and father God we put a special prayer the Lord but you just lay hands on yourself this is a month in which we are declaring that no surgery will be necessary whatever's out of order whatever's out of sync whatever is maladjusted I am believing between now and before June 1st God is going to exact absolute healing on every fiber of your being I don't know how many of you need healing from God but I believe that God is still the healer you didn't hear what I just said I said I believe that God is still the healer if you believe that for yourself would you give God your best shout of Thanksgiving I want to ask Minister Valerie Norris to please come very quickly you can take your seats for just one moment minister Val I don't know you how many of you believe that this is gonna be a month where surgery will not be required where surgery will not be required come on please I want does sister vow to very quickly just share her testimony just on what God did in the last seven days hallelujah if God did it for her I believe he'll do it for you if you've got a spirit of expectation would you give God a shout now I said only if you got a spirit of expectation y'all not shout good I said if you believe there was nothing too hard for our God hallelu the doctors diagnosed me with a cyst am i right ovary most of you might know that I only have one long so before I could go under anesthesia they had to check to make sure that my breathing is stable in my left lung so I can endure the surgery so I've been going back and forth for the last four months to a lung specialist she trying to regulate my breathing so I could have this surgery to remove the right sis well I I did the ultrasound I did the CT scan months ago and I went back to Friday's ago and had another CT scan and I went to doctors this Friday and when I went to the doctors the nurse was in the room with me at first and I was like can I get a copy of the report she was like yeah but I'm looking at and they don't look like the sisters there anymore she said but I can't make that determination i'ma let doc tell you so that she went out the room and painting the doctor came back in and he was like that what you doing here ain't no sister no more I just start screaming I just thought shouting thank you Jesus and uh doctor's office he was like get out of here before I find something I said because your God is working God is a healer He healed me once again I thank God for God amen how many of you know God is a healer I want to come into agreement with those of you that need God's intervention in any area of your life I don't know what the doctor has said I don't know what the specialist has said about you are in fact a candidate for surgery or procedure of one kind or another how those of you that fit that bill would you come meet us at the altar very quickly you need God but to so heal that surgery will not be necessary if that's where you are I want you to come meet us at this altar if you've got the god-kind of faith' hallelujah surgery will not be necessary hallelujah I said surgery will not be necessary you all don't believe it like I do let me say it again and to that miss fear is right I said surgery will not be necessary hallelujah here's what I need empowerment I want you to stretch your right hand to faith stretch your right hand to faith towards our dear friends hallelujah our dear friends who are at this altar and wherever is the area by which our surgery has been prescribed would you lay your own hand in that area please hallelujah I'm gonna ask our ministers to come flink around them just lay your hands on their back very carefully gently hallelujah as a surgery will not be necessary surgery will not be necessary hallelujah surgery will not be necessary hallelu yesterday a young lady came to the church and says she had a brain tumor for seven years and the doctor couldn't understand how she was still breathing how she was still thinking how she was still functioning how she was still processing if you believe that God is a healer extend that hand and I want you to just flood the atmosphere with the sound of your intercession hallelu I'm not about next year this time God I need you to do it before June first gets here hallelujah I need complete healing to happen if every person at this altar every person who's watching online every person whose faith is connected and committed to mine hallelujah no surgery will be necessary I said no surgery will be necessary hallelujah lungs kidneys hearts ovaries ligaments cancer no surgery will be necessary [Music] hallelujah you all don't believe that God is able you don't think that again or you want me to rush on and go on to the rest of the service this is the service this is where God occupies the presence of his people hallelujah hallelujah I need you to do me a favor as an exercise of faith as an exercise of faith as they're moving to go back to their seats I want you to just begin to thank God for healing in this room I said thank God for healing in advance in this room come on embrace of me embrace um I want you right where it is that you are how dear friends are coming at the conclusion of this service to give more information but I want you to lay hands on your head please no surgery is necessary I know that at first glance you're thinking and believing it has everything to do with physicality I hate to jump you from the back but this is Mental Health Awareness Month and there are a whole lot of people who are hurting in their minds hurting in their thinking I just covered an over the this course of this month I'm gonna be dealing with the ten different forms of abuse ten different forms of abuse and how it is that so many of us have been impacted and inflicted with varying degrees of abuse and we need God to heal us as your hand is even on your head I'm praying that God would in fact cover you from neglect from abandonment from rejection physical violence emotional economic I can't hear anybody in here sexual abuse domestic every layer every strand every thread that you've been holding on to I'm believing that God is going to heal you from it that an intensive is going to take place over your life and over your mind because he that the Sun sets free is free indeed those of you who partner with me today not just for yourself but even for your children for emotional wholeness to take place in your household would you give God a sound of Thanksgiving even now [Applause] there's so many people who are hurting at varying levels varying capacities you don't even know how you want marvel at your own resilience the stuff that you've come back from people are still laid down from how it is that you're able to muster the strength and the zeal and the capacity just to get out of the bed with what you've dealt with somebody dealing with the same variables as high right now somebody who's dealing with the same deck of cards couldn't find the strength to get out of the bed and a couple of people with the same set of issues you had committed suicide but in spite of it all God has kept you he's grounded you and he's kept you together and for that you ought to be giving God glory you don't have anything to thank God I mean April was rough for a whole lot of us but in spite of all that you've been through you're still here my dear friends I don't know who you are I don't know where it is that you are but I wanted with intentionality on a partner with the women of this church who realize that sometimes a small gesture can go a long way a long way in so much as we've got countless numbers of women in this city who are in transitional housing who are going through circumstances that are beyond their grasp that are in fact fighting an uphill battle whether it's from a homeless shelter whether it's in transitional housing whether it's in in veca drug rehabilitation center but we want them to know just through a small gesture that God has not forgotten them as a consequence we've rung the alarm and we've asked you that in the month of May that every sister in the sanctuary would find an additional purse that you're not presently using and that you would in fact fill it with toiletries because at the end of this month how we're gonna go to all of the women shelters in the city of Baltimore just to remind and to underscore in spite of what you've gone through you're still a lady in spite of how you've been treated you were still y'all ought to be clapping better than that I wanted those of you who on this Sunday morning happened to have brought it with you you only have three more Sundays to do so how about those of you who brought them this Sunday would you please bring it to the altar even now on this sudden if you brought it thank you so very much come on would you clap your hands for them as they come I can't believe y'all not gonna clap better than that okay y'all clap better than that for me please look at this come on come on I'm telling y'all you can't beat the spirit of the people that empowerment temple you can't beat it I wanted God put something in my heart in my spirit on last week and I wanted to do no less on on this day come on give God some praise they still coming they still coming y'all ain't gonna shout about it they still coming I'm grateful for the Living God I share with our leaders a couple of weeks ago months ago now that you can't do so much outreach that you neglect in reach that there are people amongst you who going through and you got no idea what they're dealing if what they're contending with and how it is that they're navigating just because I'm in church and I'm saved don't mean I don't have a struggle it doesn't mean that I'm not going through something I I shared with the sisters on last Sunday at 9:30 God put something in my heart in my spirit before coming out to service that I ought be mindful of those who labor work and worship amongst us here's what I want to do please very quickly income very quickly take take yeah you'll need take not now yes all right since come help me please yes this dear sister is visiting from mrs. Tupelo Tupelo Mississippi her and her husband stand up husband amen from Tupelo Mississippi when was iron Tupelo in December 7th I was in Tupelo Mississippi and I told them they should come visit my church I didn't know they was gonna take me seriously hey they came all the way from Tupelo Mississippi and I told them they didn't bring me no cornbread no no nothin and I want you to hold this for me please I'll hold both yeah both handles just like that thank you so very much I want to ask a women who are in this room who have ever survived a serious season or your head to struggle and you didn't know how you were gonna make it how those of you wants this who are in this sanctuary and you went through about and you weren't sure how it is that you were going to navigate the variables of your life changed with no warning I don't know whether or not you got cut off from your job I have no idea with you to go through a painful divorce have no clue as to whether or not the person whom you were depending on was no longer available no longer accessible no longer around huh if you haven't gone through that kind of midnight cry of the soul I'm not talking to you but those of you who have gone through that and you seen God do it and you still don't know how it is that he did it here's what I need you to do please I'm talking really just the sisters at this moment I want every sister that kid would you just get twenty dollars in your hand those of you that endure that kind of battle that level of warfare I'm talking to the sisters first now I want you as soon as you have it as soon as you have it would you please just come put it in this purse for me please very quickly I want you to come put it in omelette watch this if you only if you're bringing it in cash if you're John's Gospel st. John's Gospel chapter five we commenced a new series today called a nose surgery will be necessary no surgery will be necessary John five the fifth chapter of John and I want us to consider verses 1 through 7 John 5 verses 1 through 7 once you've found a won't you say I have it if you can't find it say lord help me would you mind reading silently as I read aloud sometime later Jesus went up to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish festivals now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep gate a pool which in Aramaic is called Bethesda which is surrounded by five covered colonnades he a great number of people who are disabled used to lie the blind the lame in the paralyzed from time to time and angel the Lord will come down and stir up the waters the first one into the water after each such disturbance would be cured of whatever disease that they had one who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years when Jesus saw him laying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time he asked do you want to get well would you look at the person beside you and ask him do you want to get well sir the invalid replied I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred while I'm trying to get in somebody else goes down ahead of me you may be seated in the presence of the Lord he been in this condition for 38 years and Jesus asked of him do you want to get well and he said I don't have anybody who will help me every time I'm trying to get in there somebody beats me to the punch I want to preach for a little while this morning it's been a struggle but I'm surviving if you can handle the saying it without breaking down which is looking at a person masage and tell them I got to be honest with you he has been a real struggle but I'm surviving friends in front of every mall market and movie theatres is a parking space that is unknowingly reserved for black people it claims it's for handicapped but who has been left more impaired than the sisters who are in the sanctuary when you know that even to this day women earn 72 cents for every dollar that men earn on average women pay 7 percent extra in prices every day products and services not to mention hope that you can handle it and some of you may want to write this down it was just discovered that nearly 80% of haircare products aimed at black women contain chemicals linked to cancer infertility and obesity all the more think about the debilitating things that happened on the way to maturation according to the Center for Disease Control one in five black girls one in five black girls are sexually molested by 12 one in four have been beaten to the point of leaving a mark or a scar one-fourth of all young ladies in our community grow up with an alcoholic relative and one out of a have witnessed their mother being hidden was worth noting is that that so-called handicapped space symbolically suggests two things the first is that even after you've been hurt you're still moving the fact that the world calls you handicapped but you still have the ability to drive the second which I really want to put an exclamation point around this morning is due to what you've endured hear me very carefully at 7:30 because of what you've endured you deserve to be closer to a door I believe that for somebody who's in this room you don't even understand that a door has just been open for you in heaven back in February on the Congressional floor Republicans raised a curious claim as to who was benefiting the most from programs for the poor they took aim at the alleged able-body recipients they defined the able bodies as somebody who was not a child not pregnant not elderly not blind and not disabled as a point it should be noted that being able bodied is not a demographic label there is no standard for physical or mental ability that makes a person able linebackers queen Griffin has made NFL history this week by being the first person in the league to be drafted with only one hand he said on The Today Show I don't want to be known as the one-handed player I just want to be known as a great player that happens to have one hand you can excel in spite of being amputated you will not be known because of what happened to you you're gonna be able to make a name for yourself because of your achievements across the chasm of time it's been hotly debated about whether the able-bodied could work or why they are not working and all the more why they aren't deserve n't of assistance conservatives constantly use the argument to pontificate on the merits of reforming the working habits of the poor to suggest that because you are poor you must be lazy this lineage of thought dates back to England in 1601 with something called the poor law the poor law the poor law required local communities to collect taxes and distribute aid to the poor but only to the impotent poor which are those who are powerless to support themselves subliminally it was putting here this degrees on poverty what level of poverty you find yourself entrance in trying to distinguish the deserving versus the undeserving the idle versus the industrious the agile versus the aging it brings to mind jerome dyson writes classic book poor black and in real trouble we keep fighting each other to see who is better at being broke ballin on a budget leasing renting trading borrowing but still not own name and we think we're better because they are on a bus and you in a Oba the value of your house the value of your house goes up by the standard here this of the other houses around it so if in fact you've got a mansion in the middle of Lexington terrorists it holds no value because the houses around it cannot in fact substantiate or justify your value as a consequence you cannot afford to soar by yourself your value will not be able to maintain you have to in the words of Dubois in the words of Booker T rather you have to lift as you climb you can't afford for you to excel and everybody connected to you to be drowning you've got to extend some level of a lifeline to understand when I win we all gotta win if you bringing down my value I need you to look at the person beside you and tell them my success is contingent on yours hallelujah y'all didn't say it you don't believe it you might as well sue it seats now because I'm telling you whoever you set beside if they didn't look at you they get ready to sink your boat because they are so busy being in competition that they don't even realize they only hurting themselves and I do well all of us have got to do well the anointing on you is not just for you you supposed to in fact empower somebody else to get to the next level something is demonic for you to be the only one to do well there's gotta be something in you that says God if you did it for me do it for somebody else there's an unaddressed demon in the church and then unaddressed demon is called jealousy you you so mad about seeing somebody else do well that you don't even understand God is using them the most to your face hallelujah you expend so much energy trying to tell other people now that you don't even understand God was giving you a first hell look to see if I did it for them I'll do it for you when that sister gave her testimony about there being no sis said everybody in the room that was sick I should have been runnin to the church say god I believe unbeliev what has never discussed is the fact that many of the able-bodied are dismembered because of a lack of jobs absence of education mass incarceration and limited training kanye west insanely proclaimed that after 400 years slavery was a choice just like my ancestors didn't choose to pick cotton they didn't choose to live in public housing y'all not sayin nothin to me you didn't choose to be auctioned and you didn't choose to have no assets what kind of man would we have in fact to choose to let your mother get raped oh god I can't hear nobody in here no no don't you ever let the enemy miss up your man until you believe you chose to struggle hallelujah when you went through that struggle it was either at the hands of the enemy or you Bizet the hand of God trying to show you that day is grace for your struggle with what you don't need is pity you need an opportunity an opportunity to create wealth an opportunity to monetize your gift and opportunity for self-employment an opportunity for an upward trajectory you can't just sit in this position god I'm telling you if you just give me one opportunity I'll get out of what it is that I'm in but I feel like I'm dying I can't even breathe I feel like I'm being smothered to death because I'm hanging around sick folk who like struggle and they like struggle because it guarantees them attention god help me they get hellish delight and always complaining about going wrong so that when things go well they talk themselves out of the blessing hallelujah but I need some people who are in this room that are saying god I don't need you to just bless me change the mindset of the people around me because if you change the mindset of the people around me when I give bless I won't have to hide my blessing from folks that are jealous and insecure trying to take what you gave to me that there's a level there's a level of abuse that hasn't been duly recognized or dealt with and it is the torment of neglect it's the torment of neglect no no no nobody really has seen your folder they haven't been able to look in your jacket some handicaps didn't come from a car crash some didn't come from medical malpractice some would not inherit it from a hereditary deformity or an athletic incident but-but-but-but you've never sat through the panoply of psychology to do a full autopsy on on why you think the way you do because you are class a neglect nothing works at its best when it's just left if you leave a car Allwinner outside your house as soon as spring comes you trying to put the key in and make it work and you never started it there transmission is gonna give you trouble because he wasn't designed to just see it my grandmother have sainted memory Edith getting a question your desirability don't even know whether you attractive anymore somebody knowing you were in the clutches of despair and won't give support when they got it to give y'all gonna say nothing to me that you a rock star on your job but you often Annie when you get home everybody at work tell you how brilliant y'all how smart are how great a job you're doing you walk in the house don't nobody say nothing so you got to manufacture a work husband just look straight ahead I don't want get nobody in trouble they bringing you coffee a day they want you got plans for lunch and a person who you really want don't even know this you have normalized your rejection so you you force yourself not to make friends cuz the last time you got hurt last time you got left so now you'd alone ranging you forgot even the long-range ahead Tonto you turn navigate through this whole thing of life nobody ever helped you walk through your rejection and your neglect and you a person that don't like people you don't even know you sound crazy you know you don't only recognize it and I didn't even know how crazy it was till I started reading John five and I didn't even know how it like you got no strike if you got vision you can still get it back god I can't hear nobody sit sitting around that pool ah how people people who've come to a screeching stop they can't they can't move their stuff they feel like life ain't going anywhere and they trying to figure out how do I get my momentum and my drive back and all I keep seeing is a flashing yellow light sitting around that pool of people who are all not only people who are hard but sitting around that pole are people that are wizard people who are falling apart while they act like they got it all together you you sitting beside a leper right now whose whole life is imploding but because they act in church afire yes you ask them how you don't know blessed and highly favored and you ain't even get to sleep till 2:15 this morning cuz you stressed about everything that you're dealing with cuz the bills just keep coming in the money just keeps leaving the bills just keep coming and the money just keeps leaving apart cuz you worried sick about a child that just can't get it together and your problem is you care more than them smiling apart and he sees all of them sees all I'm hanging around this pole and here comes Jesus and something amazing happens that there's a man there who's been there 38 years 38 years friends and this is a problem because I don't know whether you realize it or not Jesus when he was crucified was 33 I'm in John 5 he just accepted his call to ministry two chapters ago and so what is at the oldest he's 31 god help me in here and this man watch this not he's 38 years old he been at the pole 38 years he'd been at the pool 38 years and this is Jesus's first time in Bethesda but he knows them god help me because before he ever put on a human body he saw him while he was in heaven oh god I can't hear nobody in here and said when I get tired i'ma take care that man that been sitting by the pool waiting on the moon cuz he don't believe a move is gonna happen but I'm gonna make a health awareness month come online and I am so grateful to share with you that empowerment temple is launching its own into health ministry here in our church somebody join me and giving God a our mental health ministry and the capacity of what it is the time organization has to offer and what is gonna be made available to you today somebody give God a hand clap a phrase for Lauren now good morning so time organization has been providing mental health services for 18 years that's a very long time so today we're here to break down the wall of mental health stigma well we have a call we don't rush we rush to the ER to get ourselves checked out but when we have feelings and thoughts in our mind is in pain we don't rush to do anything about it so today we're here we're set up in the lobby to do many consult with you if you feel not right if someone you know is not right if your family is not right please stop by the table and find out what you can do about it because it is something you can do about it don't shy away from mental health it doesn't mean you're crazy it doesn't mean something's wrong with you it means that something needs to be healed and that's okay so please stop by we're set up in the front even if you don't know what's wrong just stop by and see that and we can help you try to figure out what it is thank you they're gonna be here at all of our
