mother gertrude stacks tonight i i uh was informed that she went home to be with the lord and i know that you know often when the saints go home especially those that have invested so much time and prayer and anointing and consecrated life holy life you know they've left such a an indelible impression in the earth and i want to just thank god tonight for the precious woman of god mother gertrude sacks i want to honor the lord and i want to send love and my profound and i mean that profound and sincere condolences to the family of the shalom church there in detroit i want to i'll just honor been also one that was noted for being a part of the fellowship and just uh forgive me it's so many pastors that i know that have been connected in some way of course bishop marvin l winans in detroit also love mother stats just the saints of god everywhere and so tonight i just want to dedicate this time to the memory of mother gertrude stacks as we share tonight uh about the spirit or the fruit of the spirit that is found in the book of galatians so i want you to get your bibles and we're getting ready to go into the word of god i love you all to read along i know that many of you are listening sometimes there are some that put the facebook live on and they're just going about their uh business in their homes but i want you to get your bible one of the assignments that i have as a pastor a woman of god and as one that has been called for this time as the lord is giving me to give the saints of god keys and strategies and tools so that you can be of effective in the army of the lord i remember my late mother often saying that you've got to get the word of god in your heart you've got to get it in your soul so that when you're going through various trials and testing that you'll be able to reference god's word and when you you're able to pull from that word pull from it and to glean from it and remember that the word of god was written by men godly men as they were inspired by the holy spirit so we just want to go into god's word and share with you what the word of the lord says unto us in this in the scripture and to those that it was written to particularly during the dispensation and time that it was written i love the fifth chapter of the book of galatians in fact i really uh like reading the very first verse is so powerful but it says stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith christ hath made us free and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage and then paul goes on to share with the people that of that time of galatia the in the book of galatians as we read the word of god we find that in the uh 17th chapter the bible says that for the flesh lusteth against the spirit and the spirit against the flesh and they are contrary one to the other so that ye cannot do the things that he would but i love this verse it says but if ye be led by the spirit ye are not under the law but now the works of the flesh are manifest which are these adultery fornication uncleanness lasciviousness idolatry witchcraft hatred variants emulations wrath stripes additions hearsays envyings murders drunkenness revelings and such like of the which i tell you before as i have also told you in times past that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of god but here is our key verse for tonight and i would like to just pause for a minute and make you aware of the fact that uh the theme of galatians the book of galatians is the vindication of the gospel of grace the grace of god and so god allowed paul the apostle to write galatians and in the book of galatians there are salutations there are paul's revelations there's also teachings on the justification of faith also the rule of the believer's life which is gracious it also speaks about sanctification and it is through the spirit and exhortation and conclusion and i want to just talk about sanctification for a moment to be sanctified means to be set apart for the glory of god sanctified people do not walk according to the ways of the flesh and the ways of man but our goal is to walk in a way that we are set apart for the glory of god and to be set apart really means to be called out you know the bible says that we're in this world but we are not of it and so when we deal with the the galatians the fifth chapter we see the real story of christian character and we understand as we look at it that the christian character is often manifested through nine graces which is noted as the fruit of the spirit the nine graces their visible attributes of the fruit of the spirit or the spirit of god i also want to make mention that the christian character is produced by the holy spirit and not by self effort so we have to allow the holy spirit to work through us and to live in us and to walk in us and we have to walk in a way that we we try we strive to please the lord not in our flesh but we walk in the spirit so let us go through these uh nine visible attributes or the biblical term it sums it up as nine graces and so these are attributes of a person that is living according to the holy spirit and one of the things i love about nine graces and let's just deal with the word grace it means the unmerited favor of god and it is manifested even in salvation the unmerited favor that means you didn't work for it you didn't try to do it on your own but you rely solely upon the holy spirit amen let's go to the fruit of the spirit that is described in galatians chapter 5 and verse 22. now but the fruit of the spirit is now we're going to go through all nine of them and i just want you all to walk with me through the word of god let's go with the first one the word love in the greek the word love is agape it is used as a christian term that expresses the unconditional love of god for his children it's a high form of love it's a form of charity the love for god so when you have the fruit of the spirit it is manifested in love love is a strong affection for another rising out of kinship or personal ties it is affection based upon admiration respect and honor it's unselfish loyalty and benevolence concern for good and the good of another person and another person's adoration of god also is described as love and so when we look in the word and the greek again it is agape the agape love of god flows through the christian it flows from heart to heart amen and you know i'll just use as an example when you've not seen someone for a long time and maybe it's a brother or sister in christ um there is a love that rises up within you that when you see that person there's like a a joyfulness there's a leaping on the inside when you see a fellow brother or sister in christ and so i tell you this the scripture is describing here in galatians chapter five but the sprut of the spirit again it's it's a representation of the spirit the holy spirit number one is love a profound tenderness all right we're going next to joy joy is the emotion evoked by well-being success and it is a prospect of possessing what one desires joy comes with delight with gaity with high with high spirits it it is a state of happiness and it is something that causes happiness and that causes a sense of appreciation so here it is again the word um in the greek it actually means joy or calm delight and inner gladness i remember hearing a song when i was little uh at the church you all forgive me i'm constantly referencing being little we got saved at uh the church when i was 10 years old and i remember the saints saying this joy that i have the world didn't give it to me and the world can't take it away and so we thank god for the joy of the lord and remember this is another manifestation of the fruit of the spirit all right we're gonna move through all nine amen love joy and next is peace we're going to the peace of god amen and so we find in the greek the word peace actually is described as um meaning to reconcile to be at peace or to make peace the word peace means the state of tranquility or quiet it's freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions it is harmony in personal relations and to be or to become peaceful it means to be silent or to be quiet amen and so i say to you tonight to walk in the peace of god allow the holy spirit to manifest his peace through your life all right next we have long suffering now long suffering is very important because it actually means long and patient enduring of offense amen it means bearing injury or provocation for a long time it means patient not easily provoked so in the greek it also describes for long-suffering patience to persevere long-suffering is the opposite of being quick tempered it means to be patient to persevere long-suffering amen is a sign or it's long-suffering patience slow to anger the long-suffering and loving-kindness and tender mercies of god is described in the hebrew word that means uh long-suffering ephesians chapter 4 verses 1 and 2 says i beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called with all lowliness and meekness with long suffering for bearing one another in love and that is found in ephesians chapter four and verse one and two and then the word of god teaches in second timothy chapter four and verse two it says preach the word be instant in season out of season reprove rebuke exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine so we find as we look at the word long-suffering and we recognize in the scripture amen the fruit of the spirit is love it's joy it's peace it's long-suffering and the lord gave unto uh even in the book of timothy the the instruction to preach the word and to be instant in season and out of season and so we are to as as leaders or those that are preachers of the gospel the gospel is the good news of jesus christ but there are times that every shepherd has to reprove has to rebuke has to exhort and i want to say as it relates to reproving or to rebuke i want to ask you a question how do you receive rebuke are you the kind of person that if your pastor has a word of reproof or rebuke for you are you the kind of person that will say pastor i'm going to pray about it i'm going to receive what you're saying i'm going to apply the word of rebuke or reproving whatever it is that you see that's not like god i i want to work on it i'm going to pray about it in jesus name i receive it with humility and with long suffering and i receive it in all doctrine whatever is right i want to be right or are you the kind of person and there's a book that we teach in our ministry called the the sheep and the wolves and the goats because there's a description even in the scripture about each one of those and the sheep are the ones that will receive it a certain way the wolves you know the wolves are going to rebel and bark and and and analyze and fight and uh the the goats i'm just gonna just be eating at everybody's table and are always busy always in the way i'm telling you all you've got to be careful of what you hear you got to be careful of who you hear it from i tell you there is a spirit that's operating in our world where there's so many voices in fact it seems that when facebook and instagram and twitter became more and more popular it seems that everyone has a microphone now everyone has an opinion but we're not speaking about opinions we're talking about what the fruit of the spirit is that is manifested in the life of a believer if you are a person and no one can correct you no one can rebuke you no one can chastise or pull you back in if you've gotten off or if you've gotten too haughty or high-minded or arrogant i thank god for our late pastors the preachers and the pastors at the times that they would rebuke the saints you know they wouldn't argue back and fight back and then say well my pastor rebuked me so i'm leaving and i'm going to another church but they would humble themselves and receive correction and receive it in the spirit of humility but those that are rebellious and stubborn and obstinate they operate in a spirit that will not receive correction but if you have the fruit of the spirit the bible says that you will have long suffering you will be able to walk worthy of the vocation with lowliness and meekness with long suffering for bearing one another in love i've seen another spirit operating where people when they receive a rebuke they become angry and hostile and the first thing they do is they want to leave amen or go someplace else but i tell you this when the holy ghost is after something in your life when you go to the next place god is going to raise somebody else up to address those areas in your life and it's up to the believer to stop and to humble yourself and say yes god yes god and that's what god is saying to the church today is that we have to walk in humility and in the fear of the lord the bible says that the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the lord and when you fear god you're not going to fight against what he's saying to you but you receive it in the spirit of humility from those who god has charged to be leaders over you and i thank god for people that will receive the word of rebuke and the word of correction in the love of god the bible teaches us here we're going through the fruit of the spirit and we are talking now out of verse 22. that is the fruit of the spirit is love joy peace long suffering next we go to gentleness gentleness means mildness of manners or disposition and free from harshness free from violence free from sternness and the greek the word for gentleness is to be gentle pleasant kind gentleness humility and meekness flow together and so second samuel chapter 22 verse 36 says thou has also given me the shield of thy salvation and thy gentleness have made me great i tell you if those of you that want to be great the way to greatness is humility it's through gentleness the bible says that those that will be exalted are the ones that will humble themselves under the mighty hand of god bible says that god resists the proud but he gives grace to the humble he said that a proud look he hates a lying tongue hands that shed innocent blood and those that that spread that cause division you know in the midst of the brethren those that see sow seeds of discord amidst the brethren those are the things that god hates and it is a grief to the fruit of the spirit it's a grief to the holy spirit so we are to walk in gentleness meekness and faith and no that does not mean being weak it does not mean that you can't speak up for yourself no you have a voice you have a right to express what the lord is saying to you through the word of god but we're walking in gentleness in the name of the lord next we're going to goodness goodness is also the state or the quality of being good the beneficial part and used to express mild surprise in the greek the word means uprightness of heart uprightness of life i just love that that's what it means to walk in goodness and i want to say to you today those of you that are watching right now while we're live on it is written i want you to receive a challenge from pastor kim today and the challenge that i'd like to give to you is to encourage you to do something good for someone and maybe you might say well i don't have a lot of money to give i don't have a listen let the holy spirit use you to pay it forward let the holy spirit use you to be a source of good to someone that might mean watching a maybe a single mom with like several children and being able to just bless them with their school supplies or a backpack or uh with their pencils and pens do something whatever what lies within you to do good then be a blessing and do good those of you that have been blessed by various ministries i'm not just referring to ours and i do thank god for those of you that do so but those that have blessed you start practicing being good and being a blessing and doing something good to put a smile on someone's face i love love love to bring joy to people to make someone smile to make them laugh i just love it to just do something kind for someone i was near one of my sisters yesterday and i just wanted to surprise her and gave her something um and and just sometimes it can be something small but she just smiled so big you know just sometimes it's good to just be a blessing okay i know you're going to tell me what is it that you did past kim well i'm going to go on and tell you praise the lord i tell you i just felt led to to cook a dish and to give her some of it and i'll tell you she just really really enjoyed it just some fresh green beans that's all okay i have to tell you sometimes it's good to just those of you that are cooks just give something to someone be a blessing be kind allow goodness to flow through you and allow the love of god to be a part of your life again i just love that word goodness it's the state of quality of being good remember this is a manifestation of the holy spirit all right i don't have much time tonight i've got to keep moving all right next we have faith amen faith is a belief and trust in and loyalty to god firm belief in something for which there is no proof complete trust and something that is believed with strong conviction faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen without faith it is impossible to please god faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of god so i urge you to study god's word and allow the holy spirit to quicken you and to reach to a place where you're walking by faith and not by sight i love that remember faith was the personification of good trust and reliability in god in christianity and in the new testament the word um is the word for faith amen and remember that we've got to walk by faith and not by sight all right so we've gone through this listen love joy and peace long suffering goodness gentleness and faith we have two more and they are meekness now what does meekness mean meekness means temperance against such there is no law that's verse number 23 but meekness means enduring injury with patience and without resentment mild not violent or or moderate excuse me so when you're walking in meekness you're enduring you know things that people do things that people say with patience and not allowing the spirit of resentment to allow you to go to retaliating and acting ugly and acting out of christian character remember the theme of the book of galatians is really the vindication of the gospel of the grace of god his justification his revelation and so when you have the christian character there is a a moral and a correctness that comes with the child of god and so these are some of the areas that we are speaking of tonight meekness is also translating as strength under control in ancient greece there were war horses they were trained to be meek but they were strong and powerful yet under a willing a willingness to submit again that is a rebel a description of in the greek origin what the word actually means it means strength under control according to amen our strong concordance and so meekness is enduring with patience even what you've gone through without resentment saints of god don't be bitter don't allow what you've gone through in life to make you bitter amen all of us are tested and tried in some capacity but listen don't allow yourself to dwell on the past and then become a bitter person but walk in the fruit of the spirit amen and allow meekness to operate in your life and in our last few minutes we have to talk about temperance temperance is moderation in action it is moderation and thought in feeling it means restraint it means um unhabitual moderation in the indulgence of appetite or passion now the greek word for temperance means self-control having power over self possessing of and then the holy spirit will give you temperance it'll give you moderation now temperance can be applied to many things temperance and life temperance and eating temperance and just in life in general and with your exercise with life you have to have temperance you've got to have balance and temperance is a part of the fruit of the spirit that will allow you to have balance and so the bible says in titus 2 and 2 that the aged men should be sober grave temperant sound in faith and in charity and impatience proverbs 14 and 29 says he that is slow to wrap is of great understanding but he that have is hasty of spirit exalted folly and so again we recognize as we've gone through the fruit of the spirit that these are the visible attributes of the holy spirit the biblical term is that it is the nine graces or attributes of a person living according to the holy spirit and one of the things i'll tell you oh my goodness time is just fly praise the name of the lord as we prepare to go off tonight because i have another zoom call in just a few minutes but i want to say to you to walk in the love of god walk in the fruit of the spirit and study galatians chapter 5 verses 22 through 23 i believe that the love of god which is a profound tenderness i just release it upon you right now in the name of jesus christ and for every person that is on the call tonight i just want you to put in your uh in your feed tonight i want to walk in the spirit i want the fruit of the spirit to manifest in my life i want to walk amen and be a representation of a believer and i want to walk in sanctification through the holy spirit to be set apart to be set aside and again we praise god for this time amen and we have been dedicating this time today uh to the memory of a great woman of god in the person of a sainted woman of god mother gertrude stacks who truly exemplified the fruit of the spirit i tell you the lord truly shined as a shining light through the vessel of god and again we honor the lord for her church her congregation we bless you all all of you that are affiliated and listen many many people are speaking of the uh virtues of mother stacks and god knows god has used her but let all of us let us glean from this part of her life she was a holy woman of god consecrated a prayer warrior a vessel of honor and i believe if all of us can just really glean from that lifestyle of sanctification separated unto god consecrated anointed the oil of the lord flowed from her and i thank god for even her visit at our church amen and the words that she spoke to me she said pastor kim the word of god is so rich in this church and it's rich in the saints they are pregnant they're full of the word of god and she admonished us to go forth and to minister to people pray for the sick lay hands on the sick that they would recover pray and to let the lord use us and allow the anointing to flow through our lives again may the lord bless each and every one of you i truly truly love you with the love of jesus and i release upon those of you that are grieving those of you that are hurting remember that we've learned to accept what god allows to humbly bow in submission to the will of god and remember that god has given unto mother stacks a crown i'm telling you it will be incorruptible a righteous crown a crown that the lord will give specific to her for her labor and all of the years a crown of righteousness and a crown of life and so saints of god i encourage you to be joyful and i thank god for a young man by the name of dante bo who wrote these lyrics i'm gonna be joyful today today i'm going to be joyful and i thank god i'm going to be joyful be blessed everyone thank you so much for being a part of this wonderful time it is written and we praise god for the fruit of the spirit manifested visible attributes that are biblical terms that sum up nine graces of the attributes of a real and true saint of god may the lord bless and keep you all i love you all so much in jesus name remember to like tag and share and let someone be blessed to know that you are grateful for the holy ghost before you leave off of the lie tonight just say those words i thank god for the fruit of the spirit the lord bless and keep you is my prayer in jesus name be blessed you
