god in a very special way to ride in this morning we ask you god that you will tabernacle with us this morning and let me feel your presence as never before father this is the first sunday in september 2020 a year we'll never see again like this a year when so many things are happening around us but one thing we can assure you god that we are still holding unto you father this morning is a brand new day for new team in our maids father we ask you god for continued guidance and protection for only you alone is able father you have done it before and we ask you god to do it again father this time lord we present our new pastor before you and his family we ask you god that you come to the lead and direct let all his steps be ordered by you there should be nothing done beside or before without you god holy spirit of god this morning father your people come before you let them come with an open heart god to hear from thy throne and height this morning spirit of god spirit of god we need you every past the moment what a time like this god oh heavenly father we ask god that as the new government has come into place also this morning we ask god that your country to be with them be the leader of the opposition and all the members of jamaica land with love the security forces oh nurses the doctors the teachers they need you more than ever they need a direction god and father your people come this morning we ask god that your holy spirit will happen up with us and as we shall leave these doors we shall never leave the same we came but we could say at the end of it all we felt your presence bless our administrative bishop and his wife who are in orbit this morning and let everything be done ordered by you and at the end of it all we give you all the praise all the glory and the people of god say amen good morning everyone forgive me for taking off my mouse demanding scripture will be taken from philippians 4 verses 1 to 19. i'll read on your father therefore my brethren dearly beloved and long for my joy and grown soul stone false in the lord my dearly beloved i beseech idiots us and site besiege us that they be of the same mind in the lord and i intrigued thee also true york fellow help those women which labor with me in the gospel with clement also and with other my fellow laborers whose name are in the book of life rejoice in the lord always and again i say morning to everyone [Music] [Applause] [Music] welcome to our divine worship service today to those visiting in the sanctuary for the first time and for those viewing on youtube or listening on more fm welcome today being the first sunday in our new new school year sorry now a new church year it is this very special one for us we have with us a new pastor and his family you will hear more about him shortly can i invite those visiting with our new pastor to stand [Applause] thank you so much you may be seated along with our newly elected administrative bishop and wife reverend dr roy noticed and dr vinnette notice put your hands together for that brothers and sisters we can consider ourselves extremely blessed to have our administrative bishop and wife here today sir and ma'am the montgomery new testament church of god congratulates you as you embark on this new journey for the lord we pray for his divine will to be done in your lives and in the ministry at this time i invite everyone to stand and put your hands together and make welcome our bishop reverend doctor thank you thank you very much please be seated good morning everyone it is really such an honor to be here sharing these moments with you we declare that our god is a faithful god and god does everything well in his own time it is my joy for marlin and i to be with you and we counted quite a privilege i have been blessed by the time of worship that we have been experiencing together and it is always good to be back at a familiar place with familiar welcoming people god bless you permit me to bring greetings from my household especially my dad who was excited that i was coming here i deem it it was very important for us to select this church to be at as our first official assignment and we did this for several reasons chief among them is that i believe that the montego bay church plays a critical role in the life of the denomination i also believe that in the west the montego bay church is the headquarters church and so we treat this church we treat this church with the greatest of respect and also you have just sent off one of our national leaders to another place and so we believe [Applause] we believe that in light of the significant contribution that he has made to the growth and development of this church and in light of the statute that he had in this city and in this community it was important to for me to be here this morning to honor him but also to honor our church that's here and the incoming minister [Applause] as we face this very challenging season i said in the early service this morning that if there was ever a difficult time for pastoral transition this is it it is it is extremely challenging and difficult a difficult path to navigate but in my conversations with both pastor clark and pastor robinson i am very pleased that the transition has gone very smoothly and i give god thanks for the maturity of both men as they have handled this well i also thank god for you montego bay certainly you have stood up to the test and you have watched it you have allowed your former minister to leave here in style and i give god thanks i give god thanks for that we know that you are a stylish church [Applause] and so we have to be here to help you maintain the style and so it is my joy to present to you a servant of the lord that god has raised up for this time for this season to receive the baton from your former minister and to continue the ministry journey with you i believe that god would have bishop robinson come at this time bishop robinson is a seasoned servant of the lord we have not invited a rookie to come to lead this congregation we have invited a minister who has a minister who started his pastoral journey in 1991 when he was placed at a very on a very difficult assignment at the morant bay church at that church he had the history says that he had perhaps only two adult members along with children and he weathered the storm he served that church faithfully and they established clearly from the outset of his ministry that he is into ministry because of people and not because of status and what he can receive out of it and as a result of that his ministry journey has been a very fruitful and progressive one rue left from the morant bay church then he passed at the rock river church the haddington church and in 2001 he was promoted to the boulder district of churches as district pastor and he gave oversight to the harborview church font hill and denver spain churches he was moved in 20 in 2005 to the lindsay church and there he had a long and fruitful stint in fact i can tell you that the believers at the lindsted church have an experienced 15 years of rich ministry led by bishop robinson the church like yourself they are still in mourning and so as we pray for you we also pray for them as they're missing their pastor who have contributed greatly to their lives and to their development bishop bishop robinson comes here with great experience in national leadership he has been a member of the national executive council for years he has distinguished himself as one of the strongest and most successful national evangelism and missions director under his leadership the denomination have seen the planting of the most churches that any other director has ever led and we want to give god thanks for his faithful and hard-working service he's also in charge of the national intercessory ministry reverend robinson has switched roles slightly the fact that he's now in the west and we have made the move to divide up the national evangelism work into three regions we have given bishop robinson the charge to use the montego bay church as a base to make sure that the west is on fire for jesus so he is a regional director of evangelism and missions we have made it very clear to him that he must plant churches that he must revive churches in the region that are dull and need resuscitation and he will do it with the help of god but also with the support of a strong vibrant church the most successful evangelism directors are the evangelism directors who have a strong church behind them and so the work outside of the church grows so montego bay church will grow and become stronger and so this morning it is my joy to welcome him to welcome his family our dear sister ruth who is a distinguished educator we also welcome ruth could you stand so we can extend welcome and appreciation to you yes we also welcome their two young adult daughters we want to say how delighted we are to have them here and so we welcome olivia olivia could you stand with the tallest of the two taller of the two and we also welcome aurel please let them feel welcome [Applause] they're they're two young adults and they're on their educational journey and we pray that as this shift has taken place they will settle quickly and get back to the rhythm of studying we know that auriel studies in kingston one of the perhaps one of the positive things about this season is that she'll be doing a lot of her studies online so that her father doesn't have to miss her too much and olivia will be leaving shortly back to the states where she will continue to pursue her career we say may god bless you it is good that you both have taken the time to join your parents in this very signal moment of their ministry journey and so i'm going to invite bishop robinson by yourself to come to the altar your family will join you in due course please welcome the man of god [Applause] it is my joy and honor bishop robinson to extend to you warm welcome to this congregation and to declare that you have been given the authority but more so the honor and privilege to serve the people of god here we pray that as you serve you may serve with a spirit of humility that your journey will be one of integrity we pray that as you serve you'll be known as a dedicated servant of god who gives of yourself sacrificially to the development of god's people can i charge you well to ensure that you continue to love the lord wholeheartedly and passionately because even if you distinguish yourself as a preacher and an administrator but your love for god is not strong eventually what happens backstage will seep to front stage i i encourage you my brother to make sure that you pastor the entire church that you pass to the seniors that you pastor the adults that you pastor young adults teenagers and the children be an intergenerational pastor but remember to pay special attention to the next generation pastor this church in such a way that when you leave here there will be a great multitude of persons young people in particular who are now taking up the baton and moving the mission on to the glory of almighty god well you are not just pastor for this church your pastor in the city of montego bay others before you have distinguished themselves as city pastors they have influenced the city they have touched the civic leadership i charge you my brother under the anointing of god have an open door and allow the influence of this church under your leadership to touch every community in this city may the light of water land shine under your leadership continue to shine so that people may know that this church is still alive and still having a flame and burning for the lord be faithful my brother and remember i say to you these last two things be a man of the word never abandon the word no matter how busy you become never become too busy to spend hours in word and prayer because as you are fed so the people will receive if we have a malnourished pastor we will have a malnourished church and there are too many viruses going around for the church to be malnourished so we say to yourself bishop robinson nourish yourself be fat on the word and then exercise as you come teach and preach to the glory of almighty god i also say to you finally walk every day with towel and basin in hand you come here not to be served not to be a hero not to start a personality cult you come here as the servant of god to serve god's people so that the people's lives will be better and will be enriched to the glory of god i charge you in the name of jesus i now invite your family to join you sister ruth brother well with the same delicacy and gentle touch that you just handled your wife with may you sustain that for the rest of your ministry journey your wife comes first in fact i say to you love god first your wife next your children after and then the church because if it is not well at home no matter how well you preach here you will not be a fulfilled pastor so continue to love and cherish these three precious ladies that god has favored you with i thank god for each of you ruth stand with your husband support him but never take the burden of the church from him god has called him to be pastor don't try to be pastor with him just allow him to bear the burden and hold him up with prayer with encouragement with your wise advice with your critical comments let the devil know that the devil can't touch him because he has a praying anointed wife who is there to cover him and to support him god has called you both for this season for this time we believe that you both will be an exemplary ministry team to the glory of almighty god and for the two children young adults we pray god's blessing over you may you continue to distinguish yourself we pray for success on your educational journey and for the times that you will be here with your parents we pray that you may help them to lift up the banner of holiness and godliness may your lives be an example to the believers and in particular to the young people of this church let's welcome them again church [Applause] montego if you want this minister to be a faithful and successful minister if you want the church to grow under his leadership if you promise to pray for him to support the ministry endeavors that he will undertake led by the spirit could you now indicate by standing as you give your support pastor look around you this large congregation they are all standing can i ask you montego bay pray for your past and his family pray earnestly that your pastor may have vision and clarity of direction pray for him that he may have wisdom to always make the right decisions and that he will never be deceived or captured by any forces whatsoever pray for him that he may have courage in these difficult times to lead god's people where they must go pray for his strength and pray that he may remain faithful to god and that god will keep him can you help me pray against any kind of shame and embarrassment can you help me pray against any kind of decline or decrees we pray that under his leadership this church will experience increase to the glory of god we pray for more conversions we pray that more will be filled with the holy spirit we pray that more families will be married in the name of jesus we pray that more from the community will feel the impact of this church we invite some of the council members to come and stand behind observing the necessary protocols we invite family to step a little closer and give them some room as marlin is also stepping near because we want to cover them hallelujah we cover them under the blood of jesus and we pray that this servant of god with his unique giftings different from any other pastor that has come here we pray that you may receive him and that you may give him room to use his strengths for the glory of god and where he is not strong to fill the gap so that together this church can become the church that god continues to want it to be stretch your hands towards the servants of god faithful god we come to you even when leadership is changed you remain the unchanging god father even when our hearts lord are broken and we are unsure we anchor ourselves in you our rock and our foundation oh head of the church we come to you now and we believe lord that because you love the church and because you gave yourself for the church no matter what happens your church will prosper and your church will grow lord as this congregation moves from one leadership to another we pray oh god that that this leadership change will bring new blessings new experiences we pray that there will be new growth we pray in the name of jesus that you may anoint your servant for this season give him new passion give him new energy revive his soul may you give him fresh bread for the montego bay church help him to know that the anointing that he had for lindsted church over these 15 years that he can't just dust it off he has to seek you afresh oh god may you allow your anointing oil to pour out upon him oh father we pray in the name of jesus that as he spends his private moments in prayer in fasting in reflection in study in meditation we pray that you may visit him we pray that you may speak to him help him to see what others are not seen help him to go where others were not willing to go lord this is your man for your season i pray that he will step into the season with the confidence that you give anoint his entire family in the name of jesus undergird his wife bless his marriage allow them to be closer and stronger than ever before we pray against those who seek to disrupt and to to bring disunity between them in the name of jesus we pray that you may prosper his children allow them to be successful in their different career endeavors allow them never to bring your name to shame may they be an example to the rest of the believers father we pray and we call down blessing now stretch your hands church we call down double anointing we pray that he may take the mantle now in the name of jesus and he may run the race faithfully in jesus name we pray for multiplication in the name of jesus in the name of jesus in the name of jesus we cover him and we put him under your care lord this is your work this is your church and this is your servant so do the work through him in jesus name and the church says amen brother will pastor the church to the glory of god put your hands towards the servants of god you may be seated i invite bishop robinson to come and to give a brief response then we will have the two special items and then he will bring the word this morning i have been with you from 7 30 this morning so permit me at the end of his greeting for me to slip out the lord bless you [Applause] could we give a better hand to our administrative bishop once again doctor notice our administrative bishop his wife doctor notice the officers of this great church our retired ministers have seen reverend malcolm and if there is any other reverend sir okay reverend samuels and sister samuels are our distinguished members and friends our visitors who have traveled from far to give me quality support i am indeed happy for you to our members in the diaspora who are currently tuning in through social media could we put our hands together for them i want to specially mention dr murray out of the united states who gave me a personal call a member from this church was such encouraging it was such moving come on put your hands together for him i want to give god thanks above everything this morning for my wife and two children the lord has given me a unique ministry and 28 years ago he gave me a unique wife to support me in this unique ministry to god be the glory for what he has done in giving me my life's partner uh we have been through many challenges fought many battles if there is any stripe on our shoulders we can show you scars that we have received and so i give god thanks she could pack her bag and go but she has decided to stick it out with me too thick and thin today i give god thanks for her and i give god thanks for the children [Applause] i want to thank bishop notice again don't want to be sound and repetitious for taking time out to present me i feel extra special and i speak on behalf of my family he could have booked somewhere else or someone else to introduce but we are the ones high on his priority list can you put your hands together for our bishop [Applause] my family and i came to you with 30 years of pastoral ministry 30 years personally my wife and i come saturday we will celebrate our 28th year of marriage [Applause] the lord certainly has brought us thus far and i give him thanks thanks to god for this blessing by calling me to this ministry i never knew i would become the pastor of this church i was born and bred in this side trelloni as a boy i came to this church and when the convention was over packed the ushers gave us a seat on this form to sit around about 16 thereabout i never knew i would become the pastor of this church i'm here today 19 years ago when my wife was pregnant with oriel it was in this same church others and i were ordained bishop of the church of god even then i never knew i would be the pastor god knows where to put his soldiers he is the general of all generals and anywhere he leads we will follow about 17 18 years ago when bishop dr raymond noticed was the pastor he asked me to preach here for the first time my topic to you was blessing delayed is not blessing the night right here and so today there is so much to say but time is against us time is against us in closing we have not come to be idolized what we come to serve we are here to lead you not to push you we are here to preach to you to work with you to pray for you to fast for you to strengthen you to dedicate your babies to pray over your sicknesses to pray the blessing of god in your life we are here to be your mother and your father we are here to be your advisors we are here to intercede on your behalf we are here to listen to you we are here to take advice we are here to follow the lord and in turn my family and i are saying to you follow us as we follow jesus i am committed to be humble under the mighty hand of god i am committed to see the work of god grow expand i am committed to see people becomes become converted sanctified filled with the holy ghost demonstrate the gifts of the spirit demonstrate the five-fold ministry grow in the power and in the anointing of god we have no other agenda i told the officers in in closing i told them that i i told god if i am not the pastor of this church scrap it scrap it but if i am the pastor of this church i ask you for one thing your favor divine favor and at the end of the day other favors will come with it i ask for divine favor and at the end of the day all the favors will come with it there more could be said wisdom is a principal thing pray for me pray for my family together we aspire together we achieve god bless you [Applause] [Music] so [Music] there's a lighthouse on the hillside that overlooks live season when i'm tossed it sends a light out that i might see and the light that shined in darkness now will safely lead us home if it wasn't for the lighthouse my ship would sail no more [Applause] i hold my life to him [Music] of sea [Music] is me everybody that lives around me they tell me tear the old lighthouse down the big ship don't sail this way anymore it's no use of it standing around but when my mind goes back to that stormy night when just in time i saw the light of the light from that old lighthouse still your hands together and give the lord a handclap praise hallelujah you may be seated as i seek to bring closure to the text read this morning for those who were here we read from a very familiar passage of scripture uh said matthew chapter 17 and we commence by dealing with the word under the topic a new encounter a new encounter i want to take you back to that same passage of scripture in that we never exhaust the text neither our notes and there are blessings remain in this text for us could we stand for a change as we go through the word of god again quickly could you stand with me whether or not it is found if our uh technical team could put it on the screen and it reads us after six days jesus taketh peter james and john his brother and bringeth them up into a high mountain apart and was transfigured before them and his face did shine as the sun and his raymond was white like the light and behold there appeared unto them moses and elias talking with them then answered peter and said unto jesus lord it is good for us to be here if thy will let us make three tabernacles one for thee one for moses and one for elias while he spake behold a bright cloud overshadowed them and behold a voice out of the cloud which said this is my beloved son in uma i am well pleased here in hallelujah and when the disciples heard it they fell on their face and were swore free father we thank you for your word again we are back god to this will to draw again we are asking you lord to touch the draw we are asking you to touch the spiritual water we are asking you to touch the drawer we are asking you to touch the recipient father if any is sick and suffering they shall be healed if any walk through these doors this morning are burdened down frustrated i pray that lord you will touch them that are leaving this your holy house lord they will be touched they will be revived like giants refreshed with new wine bless everyone we pray give us receptive hearts in the name of jesus let everybody say come on church let everybody say i know you missed your pastor but work with me in the name of the lord i'm in church amen you promised to work with me 14 years with a man of god come on it will take a toll on you amen but just work with me in the name of the lord amen a new encounter not to be repetitious but uh we said in an overview that a new encounter is an experience you have never had before uh we said that it is according to mr webster it is an unexpected or a casual meeting with someone or something uh a new encounter church it suggests that you once had a previous encounter or encounters but something possible gone wrong that it warrants a new encounter are you with me are you with me it could be the first the impact of the first or second encounter fade away ah and you are relegated to a normal person an ordinary worshiper commit the church but jesus possible saw this weakness among these three disciples and he chose to give them a new encounter are you there with me this goes to say that jesus has an eye on his followers are you there this goes to say church that jesus has an eye on the church coming to church he's watching you touch god you must drop from god to the point that jesus christ somebody help me somebody touch me you and i must touch jesus until he sees it listen for us to have an experience of jesus glory we
