[Music] okay from here starts the speaking test this is the speaking test of the international english language testing system center number dde 120 and the candidate is zorre mirzapore the candidate number is zero one three one three four five eight the examiner is samsung sees examiner number four four three five three three good afternoon my name is samson would you please tell me your full name i'm zohare mirzapu all right can i see your identification please yes thank you wonderful okay let's uh talk about your neighborhood describe a park in your neighborhood or city that you like i start talking about a park in my neighborhood and there's a small park at the end of my street [Music] there is a fountain in the middle there are some benches where you can seat and relax and there's also a small garden and some of the local neighbors plant flowers there every year right and what can people do there um actually um it's a small park so there's not much to do there um it's just for looking pretty you can go there sit on the benches and watch the water in the fountain and you can enjoy the beauty of the flowers and so enjoyable and and also there's a it's right next to the bus stop so you can wait for the bus there too right and do you enjoy spending time there yes it's very enjoyable and i like to go to the park especially when the weather is nice because after being inside all day at work um i like to go to the park on my way home [Music] because it's a way for spending time outside and sometimes i run into my friends [Music] in the park and i've gotten to know some of my neighbors um by spending time in the park so that's an advantage all right and let's move on to talk about computers now how much time do you spend using a computer [Music] i spend several hours every day using a computer because it's an important part of my job i try to stay away from the computer on weekends but i think i'm not that much successful at that because there are always a lot of things that i want to do with it so i think i spend a lot of time on computer because somehow it is somehow addictive right and do you use a computer for work study or personal reasons um the reason why i spend a lot of time on the computer is that i use it for my work i use it for my work and um that most of my work involves creating documents for the company so [Music] apart from that i spent a lot of time playing computer games because it makes me feel relaxed and it's relaxing especially when i'm working on a big project [Music] apart from that i do some personal things on my computer so the main reason i use the computer is for my work but it's an important part of my personal life too okay and what's what are some things that you don't like about using computers um [Music] actually nobody can deny that computers are useful and they make the things more convenient for example i couldn't do my job without the computer and it is very important in my life [Music] but the thing is that um as i said computers are a little bit addictive for example sometimes i spend a lot of time um i end up using the computer an entire afternoon an entire saturday afternoon instead of spending time with my friends family or relatives or going outside or doing a and doing exercise so i think there should be a strategy to take away or stop overusing the computer okay thank you very much that's wonderful all right in this part i will give you a topic and you will talk about the topic for up to two minutes you have one minute to think about what you're going to say and you can make notes to help you if you wish do you understand yes okay great so here's a piece of paper pencil and here is your topic i want you to talk about your favorite subject you studied in school now you now have one minute to start making notes okay your one minute is up you may start speaking now when i was in school my favorite subject was history um i really liked it and i liked all kinds of history and i still do [Music] i started it and every year in high school from 12 from 9th through 12th so i learned a lot of new things and about the history of our country i learned about different events in the history of my country and i learned about a lot of people like for example inventors [Music] like common people who contributed to our history um politicians [Music] soldiers etc and and um i learned about all these things um i learned all these things about the history of other countries um so i like history because um it makes me understand feel and imagine what history looked like in the past in different times and it makes me understand that people have lived under different kinds of conditions during different kinds of different periods of the history and they've had different kinds of for example interests needs and emotions uh so i think um it is very important to uh understand thank you very much these kind of things that's the end of the two minutes may i have your papers back please pencil thank you very much okay so in part two we've been talking about a subject you studied in school um now i'd like to ask you some questions related to this topic so what school subjects were offered in the past that are not offered now my parents told me that when they were in school there studied home economies and boys studied shop or for example girls learned how to cook and sue and boys learned how to build and fix things now we don't have those and we don't have such those kind of subjects in school and it seems very funny to me to spend time on those kind of things because i think we can learn them at home and if you are interested in those subjects actually um they are not academic things academic subjects and they are not things for school right and what school subjects should be offered in the future that are not offered now do you think i think that's a very interesting question because we cannot predict the future and the thing that is changing every day is technology so i think what schools whatever schools teach should be related to the history and sorry should be related to the technology of the future for example maybe students will learn at home by by learn at home alone by using the computer or internet or they will learn the same or similar subjects that we are learning as we are learning now um but they will learn um in a different way for example by using the internet or computer right and do you think the main purpose of education is to accumulate knowledge or to prepare for a job i think both things are important and for example when you are younger you need to learn basic skills for example you first you learn how to write read and use a computer then you learn to think analyze and interpret so these are the skills that you need in all steps of your life in all aspects of your life especially for your future job but then when you're a little bit older for example in high school or in college you um you start focusing on the skills that you might need and the future for a specific type of job um so i think both things are important okay and how important is it to have an educated society i think it is very important to have an educated society because if some of the people are highly educated and others are poorly educated so there um there is not an equal participation in the society because those who are highly educated are more likely to have more money and more political power than those who are less educated so if you want to have an equal society there should be everyone should be prepared and should be equally educated i know that it is ideal but it's something to work for okay thank you very much that is the end of the speaking test you can take a deep breath now you relax okay uh so what we're going to do now i'm just going to go through the um the four criteria with you and let's have a look at your band score so we've got the four criteria as you know the coherence and fluency uh vocabulary grammar and accuracy the grammatical range and pronunciation so you know based on these four criteria um rounding them all up i think what we're looking at right now is uh seven which is which is very good it's a seven um i wanted to give you actually 7.5 but it it's there was certain a few uh bits and pieces here we we could look at just to help you increase uh one band score i would say you could you could go for it you could get an eight if you if you follow certain techniques uh i think you know let's start looking at your uh how fluent you are i mean it is it is great the way you're paraphrasing and using linking words this is this is what's been giving you the the marks even though your pauses were very long you seemed you know hesitant at you know some points you look like you were maybe running out of ideas i don't think that's a language problem for you that's more of more of you trying to produce an additional idea maybe talk for a longer period of time which of course in the ielts speaking test when you get to part two it is important and we'll get to that in a minute but you had some um's here and there uh but you know all together the way you're the way you were producing your sentences i thought they were very good vocabulary was i i didn't have a problem with your vocabulary i thought it was really good i thought it was strong uh you you could use a wide range of vocabulary you were using them in the correct spaces that that shows the examiner that you haven't uh you know prepared anything especially in advance just to impress the examiner um i think you just you have a generally you have a strong use of vocabulary which is what which what you're getting good marks for uh so congratulations on that uh grammar and accuracy here you see i'd say it is strong altogether again it's you get to the this hesitant uh side of you sometimes you go uh you you get self-repetitive you do repeat a few uh things here and there maybe uh trying to fix the grammar in your head but all together it it is strong so you know you've got all you have i think you need to fix this so what you would do is basically go in front of the mirror and you know work on this and that you know different topics complex topics i would say because with the simple stuff i don't think you have a you know too much of a problem just to you know produce longer maybe more complicated sentences that's what you would need to do pronunciation uh again very strong pronunciation i didn't have any i think it was very clear to the examiner how you could pronounce words uh even if they were sometimes complicated you did it very well you had one mispronunciation i i wrote down here i managed to catch it was uh people uh you know they they they sue it it's so you know when you're sewing but there was just one uh some of the rest of it i mean that was a very simple word and you were you were producing very complex uh words and you were fine with it so you know what we're looking at here is definitely a seven which really potentially could be an eight if you just work on a few things like um see your linking words were very strong or you're paraphrasing and your linking words were great uh your pauses may have been a little bit too long it just it provides a little bit of you know hesitant the hesitant mood of you hesitating a little bit there but you know that can easily be worked on that's that's just a matter of again more practicing maybe slightly longer sentences um yeah absolutely i mean do you have any you have any questions for me uh regarding the speaking test what what did you feel you struggled with it was good but a little bit stressful you were a little bit stressed i gathered that i think that's that was that was it really what you could work on to reduce that stress maybe that is the that's the thing that's bothering you right now because you're you've got a very strong level good command of english your stress levels are high so you need to reduce those and what you could do is uh talk louder be a little bit more assertive towards the examiner anyone outside but you know in in the ielts speaking test i think it's uh it would be very very important it's it's critical that you you're not stressed out so much because that is damaging all that love all those lovely sentences all the all the complex structures that you have in your head you you know them and you know you have no problem in in that aspect i think it's just the the stress it's holding you back a little bit so just talking all these exams are stressful they are yes that's right but you know obviously that this is a mock test and usually people do perform better anyway in the real test and uh in the mock test for some reason it's a lot more stressful probably because people have candidates in the back of their mind they're thinking okay well i have to go through the real thing now so once the real thing is happening then you know after that in the back of your mind your subconscious is telling you okay this is this is it and it's going to finish it's it's now or never so you know you definitely can increase that one band score you can you can make an eight i know you can do that because you you have all the you know instruments and techniques to do it you just need to reduce that stress mostly i think and that's the only thing that's keeping you back speak just talk louder be more assertive smile maybe a little bit more all these little things they help reduce stress so i wish you the best of luck thank you very much
