right if you're ready we can start the test i'm ready okay this is the speaking test of the international english language testing system taking place at ross ielts academy the candidate is zahra rezai the candidate number is three six one nine four five zero zero the examiner is samson sees examiner number four four three five three three good morning my name is samson good morning uh would you tell me your full name please yes i'm zachary right and may i see your identification please here you are thank you very much wonderful thank you now in this first part of the exam i'm going to ask you some questions about yourself first i'd like to ask you some questions about your family do you have a large or small family i have a small family and i just have a sister with no brothers right and how much time do you spend with members of your family to be honest these days i'm so busy and uh because of the this epidemic i uh i'm working as a chinese as an online chinese teacher and i don't have that much time to spend time with my family but i try to spend a little time with them okay and what sorts of things do you like to do together i like to to watch movies together and because i really like cooking food most of the time i want them to eat what i cook for them okay now let's move on to talk about food what kind of food do you like in my idea all um foods are delicious and there is no exception for me but i'm not a fan of fast food okay good now what are some of the typical foods in your country um for example you have thermosapsi amen and fascination i think they are the most common food in our country that's people all like it okay and in your country do men or women have the main responsibility for cooking i think in the in the past time women were used to cook all the time but right now i think the idea of society has changed and right now most of the men are cooked too because their women work out of home okay and let's talk about where you live now tell me about the house or apartment you live in at the present time i leave at the third floor of an building and my flat is not so big and it just has two rooms but i like it because um it's very quiet and i can sleep well good and what are some of the bad things about living there um i think everything is good but um sometimes my neighbors a little are noisy okay and what kind of place would you like to have in the future please yes uh you mean that travel to that place or live in that place what kind of uh apartment would you like to live in in the future i like to live in a house that is big and its view is towards sea and forest and all the time pepsino and is there any particular country you'd like to have this apartment in in the future uh because i studied chinese maybe one day i go to china and have a nice flatbear and america and canada is good i'll get you okay well that's the end of this part let's now move on to the next part of the test so i'm going to now give you a topic and i'd like you to talk about it for up to two minutes before you talk you'll have one minute to think about what you're going to say and you can make notes if you wish do you understand yes great so there's a piece of paper and notes and here is your topic if you can read the handwriting there yeah okay okay that's okay all right so i'll give you one minute now to make notes right so describe a teacher who has influenced you in your education he may speak now okay i should give it to them um i want to talk about uh last year that i went to chinese tour guide training course um you know all the lessons uh in the course were in persian but one of them was in chinese uh uh to be honest uh all the lessons are very nice and practical but one of them was really uh interesting and amazing to me um this the name of this class was uh iranian culture and and affinities uh and when i say or hear the name of this that class i think of color pencils because it was so interesting to me in this class uh we our teacher i'm going to talk about that teacher our teacher was so experienced and uh actually i can say that he almost traveled everywhere in iran and he tried to teach us the tradition the customs and the content of the class and the features of uh that regions uh by using photos and short clips and that was very um practical for me and uh sometimes i was very tired but i tried to go there because i didn't want to lose that information that he gave us and [Music] i can say that uh everything was good about this class but there was a problem about this class we didn't have enough time to talk more about information because um iranian attractions customs uh are um a lot and uh we can't say them you know very much at the end of the two minutes so uh i might take your topic bag the cue card thank you very much okay let's move on to the next part now so we've been talking about a teacher who has influenced you and now i'd like to ask you some questions related to this first we'll look at developments in education has education in your country changed in the last 10 years to be honest i would say no i think our educational system is a little weak about the courses that gave us and i think our education system needs more practical and useful concepts and otherwise our students will tire will get tired of what they study and maybe they feel disappointed and discouraged right and what changes do you think will happen in the future as i mentioned before i think some uh lessons are really boring and uh are not useful for students for example uh because of the because of the progress of technology uh we need to add some courses that are uh useful for them for example uh teaching about computer about social media and this kind of things right and what changes do you think will happen in the future uh as i see uh i think nothing will happen uh or maybe some something happen because uh either uh future is uh unpredictable and what changes would you recommend to improve the education system um i think about nowadays children are more interested in dynamic classes and homeworks not in written written homeworks and i think this kind of classes will be more interesting for them okay let's now talk about the national education system how do the ambitions of current school leavers compare with those of the previous generation um about the students or the education system school leaders people who leave school um i think people in the past time their didn't have enough information about what they are going to study and uh actually their family want them to study the subject but right now uh students um choose their major as they want and there is no uh in force for enforcement for them okay and what role do you think extracurricular activities play in education could you please repeat your questions absolutely so what role do you think that the national curriculum activities play in education amongst students um i think um because of because of the because uh technology develops and students in each country can see the contents of school in each country so they can take some idea and want it in their country so this is good for students i think okay and what is the role of the school in modern society [Music] i think um the the lessons and the contents that school uh schools teaches should be uh updated and according to the past of time not just about previous things and this uh in this case we can have him have an educated and developed country okay thank you very much that is the end of the speaking test thank you how do you feel uh at first i was a little bit stressed but right now i'm okay that's good i think some of the questions were really um like each other and the same that was similar okay okay right i'm just going to uh check your that so i'll be right back at you in just a second right yes this is the procedure so give me a second here just add that up let's see how you did just waiting for the internet to kick in okay here we go right so we're looking at a overall 6.5 at the moment so that's that's not too bad so basically we we're looking at the four criteria we've got the fluency coherence lexical resource grammatical range and accuracy and pronunciation so that's what the examiners do they assess you on these four yes and so the whole thing basically you're you're looking at a 6.5 at the moment but you can definitely increase that and get over a seven in my opinion i don't think you have uh too much of it i i think it's okay yes okay you're happy with that well that will go i hope uh one day get more yeah of course absolutely so we'll look at those we'll have a look at what you did and then i'll give you some feedback on how you can improve that and go over a seven so if we're looking at the fluency and coherence here we've got uh you know you i like the way you maintain the flow of speech i thought you sounded very conversational uh most of the time um but you had some self-repetitions here and there i think it was mostly content related not language related um maybe there was some certain words in the questions you might have not understood uh but i mean very very little i mean i don't think there was too much of a problem with that um the problem that i did have with your fluency coherence your answers were just a little bit too short especially in in part one and maybe part three as well although in part two you managed to speak for the two minutes so very well done you managed to keep the flow of speech there which is interesting it's difficult to do um so with part one i mean maybe you could have elaborated a little bit more even though the answers should be short and simple usually in part one of the ielts speaking test um you could have elaborated a little bit more given just a little bit more detail this is mostly i'd say related to part three you could have really uh you know got the conversation going a little bit more uh because part three is mostly a conversation uh it's it's come and go with the with the examiner and and the candidate could have maybe expressed more of your ideas that this is a very good chance for you to really show off what kind of english you know and you do have that a good command of english so that would have been a good idea if we're looking at the lexical resource so that's your vocabulary um i didn't really have too much problem with your vocabulary i think it was uh it was you had a wide range of vocabulary you were using it in the in the correct places i don't think you had any really any problem or misplacements with with your words i'm happy and that's good well done so you did well with that um i wouldn't concentrate too much on your lexical resource maybe you could expand a little bit but like i said this is not something really in my opinion that you should focus on grammatical range and accuracy now uh you had uh strong grammar in my opinion your grammar was pretty strong maybe you know here and there you had a couple of errors like you said at this point you said about uh courses gave us so that was that was a grammatical error about the course is that they they're you know presenting to us you could have said it that way the stress i had i think oh it's i was something i was going to come to as well there maybe i think you had a little bit of stress and i'm going to give you a hint on how to work on that to help you avoid making these kind of errors because stress really does even though you might have a very good command of english the stress unfortunately it kicks in and yeah and that's what these things happen and then at one point you said past of times so maybe you could have said uh in before in the past you just say in the past when i mean you didn't have any real problems with the the past present and future tenses like these could be mostly stress related uh issues here pronunciation uh i most of the time i think nine ninety percent of the time i think your pronunciation was pretty much clear i mean there might have been maybe one mispronunciation uh in the beginning of part one because you were not warmed up maybe again because of the stress most of uh the issues with you here i think it's uh mostly stress related now there are many uh you know ways you can work on this uh to you know help present more of the the powerful english that you do have the command of english that is strong within you and you can start by maybe warming up so warm up your voice and your english so you're thinking only in english you know not your mother tongue yes i know it's really effective before speaking warm it up absolutely it's very effective and you get to basically the brain is all warmed up it's keyed in to only speaking english and thinking english another thing is when you're in the exam room when you're facing the examiner the best thing to do is speak up be assertive speak louder the louder you speak the stress lesson it's always better yeah and try not to you know be distracted you're less distracted and you're less stressed if you uh if you definitely speak up definitely you know raise your voice don't you have to raise your voice so the stress levels go down and i think that's really going to help you in this case because most of the problems with you i i think it was stress related and you you have a stronger command of english and it will be a shame not to present that in the in the ielts speaking test you're right i think i accept great do you have any questions uh thank you for your advice and recommendation and thank you oh it's my pleasure uh so i'll just repeat it again we're looking right now it's a 6.5 but in my opinion you can you can definitely go over the seven uh especially if you can knock off some of that stress right now i'm encouraged you're encouraged all good it's nice to hear well thank you for coming along thank you for your positive energy just my pleasure i wish you the best of luck pleasure
