say my name Eisenberg God damn right [Music] [Music] Majora's Mask is not your typical game especially talking about one of the most popular franchises in the video game industry it's considered by many as the black shape for its dark themes and at the same time one of the greatest if not the greatest Zelda game ever made as with basically any topic I've decided to create an iceberg including the weirdest most bizarre facts and secrets about the Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask the black sheep of the franchise Zelda games are generally light-hearted yes there are several creepy things like dead hand or redeads in Ocarina of Time but Majora's Mask is creepy in its psychology a final countdown for the end of the world death itself staring at you every single instant with bare teeth the population of terminus struggling in an attempt to continue with their normal schedule yes Ganondorf might be evil but he can display a human side while Majora's bestiality and childish irrationality are what make this monster the scariest Majora's Mask according to the happy mask salesman Majora's Mask is in a cursed item used by an ancient tribe in its hexing rituals and that an evil and wicked power bestows upon whoever wears it according to Legend the troubles it costs were so great that the mask was sealed forever the happy mask salesman says that he went to Great Lengths to get that legendary mask considering the danger of that mask it's interesting to think about what exactly this man did to get it and where he found it given that it's not that a legendary mask with terrible Powers would be sitting waiting for anyone to claim it the happy mask salesman this character plays an important role in the game as he's the one who brought the mask to the land in the first place he's very well known for his mood swings looking like a happy peaceful being while sometimes losing his temper if he doesn't get what he wants he does very odd tricks like materializing a gigantic piano out of nowhere or Vanishing Into Thin Air at the very end of the game due to this almost magical tricks he's believed to be some sort of spirit or God but of course nothing has ever been confirmed Run Lola Run Run Lola Run is a 1998 German movie that inspired the three-day cycle in Majora's Mask as its protagonist has to find a way to deliver a sum of money in order to save her boyfriend's life once an attempt fails she gets the chance to start all over again and retry in the same fashion as link is able to start from the very beginning over and over until he succeeds the Moon this subject is without a doubt one of the most horrific things in the history of Nintendo actually several things from the Zelda Universe happen to be horrible like read it dead hand or Bongo Bongo but the moon's first appearance might have originated in another classic Nintendo game Star Fox in the asteroid field stage after shooting a series of brown asteroids a weird asteroid or moon will appear does the phase look familiar it's red eyes and bare teeth resembled those of Majora's mask's Moon and it's no coincidence as they both were designed by the same person Takaya imamura the connection doesn't end there as both are linked to Alternative Dimensions the asteroid moon in Star Fox collapses into a black hole through which Fox travels to another dimension while Majora's Mask moon is present in another dimensional world as termina is considered to be an alternate world the anju and Cafe side quest this is not only one of the most iconic side quests in Zelda but in all of video game history from the very beginning of the three-day cycle until the Moon is moments away from crashing onto the land of termina Link's mission is to gather Andrew and Cafe two lovers that were separated due to Cafe being turned into a child by the Skull Kid forcing him to hide until he finds a solution to his situation after a series of important steps the side quest culminates in link bringing the two lovers together a minute and a half before the end of the world all night mask when I was a kid I had absolutely no idea what this mask was all about years later when I replayed the game I realized that it's a torture device to deprive individuals of sleep this is another instance of torture the other one being the Shadow Temple in Ocarina of Time apocalypse what makes Ganondorf and Majora different is that the first one wishes to conquer the world while the latter doesn't mind destroying it Majora uses the moon as the main weapon to obliterate the land with no real purpose other than having fun aliens [Music] we've seen Monsters and demons in the Zelda Universe since its conception but as far as I know the only instance we've seen aliens is in Majora's Mask Deku Butler's son at the beginning of the game we encounter a twisted tree in the shape of a Deku there is not a lot of context about it until we talk to the Deku Butler who says that we'll remind him of his son who he hasn't seen in a while during the credits we see the Deku bottler on his knees and trembling in front of the Deku at the beginning of the game implying Beyond any doubt although not directly stated that that's his son whose life was taken by the Skull Kid in order to turn us into a Deku the hand the hand refers to the many hands that have appeared in the Zelda series coming out from a toilet and referencing a popular Japanese ghost story second's demise in order to get the blast mask you need to prevent the thief second from running away after robbing the old lady in North Clark town a swing of your sword will be enough for him to drop the merchandise and get you reward however if you shoot a narrow at him he will get completely obliterated I didn't know this until I came across a YouTube video of this event happening romani's abduction even to this day I feel stressed whenever I play that part in which I have to defend romani's Ranch from Aliens because if I fail they will abduct Romani and the result is a depressed traumatized Romani disconnected from reality due to whatever aliens did to her as if the game wasn't depressing enough failing this side quest will definitely turn things darker ancient tribe according to Legend an ancient tribe used Majora's Mask in its hacks in rituals some people have wondered who this tribe might be and once Twilight Princess was released they theorized that this tribe could have been the interloppers a group of hylians that mastered powerful magic in order to claim the Triforce for themselves the main connection is that to my knowledge there are a few instances in which a group of characters in the Zelda Universe are called tribes both of them are ancient and known for their dark magic another hint is the shape of the fuse Shadow this subject's Psy Bears a striking resemblance with Majora's Mask there's no official connection confirmed but this has led people to think that The Interlopers created Majora's Mask with their dark power elegy of emptiness's statues what do all transformation masks have in common The Deco Butler's son darmani and Macau are all dead this is evident if we look at the lifeless expressions of the statues generated by the song This heartless shells have an eerie look especially Link's shell which later would play a central role in one of the most popular and iconic video game Creepypastas blasphemy toward the Triforce in the N64 version of Majora's Mask the blocks in the shape of humanoid creatures that link arranges to get to the Stone Tower Temple hide the dark secret under them this becomes evident the moment link shoots a light Arrow to invert the temple turning the blocks upside down and revealing the most sacred symbol the Triforce under the crotch of the creature apparently Nintendo later realized the controversy of this and removed the trifers from this area in the 3DS version Ben drowned bent round also known as Haunted Majora's Mask cartridge is an ARG slash Creepypasta created by the YouTuber jaducible in which a copy of Majora's Mask is possessed by the spirit of a kid named Ben many dedicated fans soon began discovering deeper lore into the series such as Ben being part of a cult called the moon children there are over 17 episodes of the series with three parts called Ben Drowned Moon children and Awakening Ben Drowned has become renowned on the internet and has been called the most popular Creepypasta of all time the five stages of grief this theory is as old as the game itself it was evident that Majora's mask's main places were linked to the five stages of grief denial of the Moon falling anger in the punishment of the monkey bargaining for coming back to this world by darmani depression from Lulu Acceptance in the final Temple as it wraps up Link's journey in a recent interview with AJ AO Numa he revealed there are some truth behind this very old fan Theory the fierce deities mask perhaps one of the most enigmatic objects in the whole Zelda Universe the fierce deities mask is obtained when link gathers all the masks and presents them to the Moon child wearing Majora's Mask once again Majora's irrationality is evident as he states that link only possesses weak masks and in turn he gives young Link this Lethal Weapon It's in-game's description reads could this mask's dark Powers be as bad as Majora stating that somehow this object possesses an evil power similar to that of Majora a gossip Stone provides the other piece of information in the game about it the fierce deities mask a mask that contains the merits of all masks seems to be somewhere in this world how and when Majora found this mysterious mask that canonically ended its existence at the hands of the hero of time might forever remain a mystery the last explanation about the fierce deities mask was provided by aegi AO Numa the best I can give you is just a suggestion the best way to think about it is that the memories of all people of termina are inside the fierce deities mask there are many theories but a way to interpret this item is that the people of termina who suffer the disgraces that Majora brought to the land gave birth to this mask that also happens to resemble the hero of time in his adult form it's as if their wishes to end the Calamity made link come across termina to exterminate this Pure Evil [Music] Tetra Force the Tetra force is a theory that arose from the fact that Fierce deity link has an emblem of a triangle on the left side of his chest this is a similar triangle that shows on the Hylian Shield and that led many to speculate that another triangle complemented the Triforce turning it into a Tetra force and that first lady links huge power originated from it nothing in the Zelda Universe has ever referenced or mentioned the tetraphos so it's reasonable to think that said triangle is just a mirror decoration for only Link's armor Crescent Moon [Music] while the crescent moon was the main symbol of the gerudos in the first versions of Ocarina of Time and was removed to avoid religious references the Crescent Moon on this Iceberg refers to the one on the right side of fears daily Link's chest this led some people to believe that this character was the spirit of the Moon fighting the evil that possessed it but same as with a triangle or Tetra force it most likely has an ornamental purpose the moon children these children that are found inside the moon share a not feature besides wearing The Masks of the four bosses a closer view reveals that the moon children resemble the happy mask salesman and although their mask less N64 models have no face the 3DS remake contained the face of the happy mask salesman creamy asshook kremia's Hawk refers to a not very well-known cutscene in which Crimea hacks link after defending the male cargo the reason why it's not well known is that originally Crimea rewards link with romani's mask and after that there is no real reason to do the same side quest after obtaining the prize however there were people that did and found out that Crimea has nothing else to offer so she hugs Link in a gesture of gratitude links training another obscured cutscene found within the game's files is that of Link Training with one of the great fairies in order to recover his magic meter we can see the hero of time doing push-ups and crunches in animations unique to these deleted cutscenes adult links mask the adult Lynx mask is a better item that was originally intended to be used in the game the fact that young Link was able to use all items Adult Link from Ocarina of Time could use render The Mask useless and was later replaced with the fierce deities mask [Music] identity theft this entry refers to the fact that the characters link impersonates are thought to be alive by their communities however once link leaves termina those characters will disappear as they all were dead in the first place the effects of their absence after Link's departure might be catastrophic in the minds of the inhabitants he left behind the hero's humiliation the hero of time who vanquished Ganon and would be remembered for many generations to come suffers one of the greatest humiliations not only does he get his horse and Ocarina stolen but also gets turned into a small fragile Deku abandoned imprisoned and mugged by a small fairy this of course had been unlikely had link been an adult [Music] the heroes fate considering that link was an orphan who grew up in a forest with creatures different from him and who was chosen to be the Savior not only of Hyrule but Terminus well one would expect him to have a happy ending but this is definitely not the case as we find out that the hero's shade the skeletal Warrior that link from Twilight Princess encounters is actually the very link from Majora's Mast living an afterlife existence of regret for not being able to pass down his skills zeldom music samples Nintendo music composers are geniuses and have come up with iconic Melodies however in the case of the N64 Zelda games not all sounds were created by Nintendo as they chose some third-party tracks and sound effects from a commercially available Library here are some examples foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] thank you foreign [Music] [Music] the fourth day the mythical fourth day refers to both the ending of Majora's Mask and also a glitch that occurs when link uses the telescope at the observatory and stops using it milliseconds before the Moon is about to crash one of the most interesting effects is that the Moon is far up in the sky barely visible this is believed to be the original position the moon would have had if the seven day cycle had been implemented in Majora's Mask but due to space constraints we ended up with a three-day cycle another side effect is that the world will be almost completely devoided of NPCs the fierce deity if the first deity's mask is one of the most enigmatic items in the Zelda Universe a more mysterious aspect is the fierce deity itself given its name it's supposed to hold the soul of a dark wrathful God some people have theorized that the man who killed Majora in the manga has a strong resemblance to the fierce deity or that maybe this God is the terminian counterpart of Link in the same fashion as hylians have a terminian Alter Ego one of the most interesting theories about Fierce deity is that this goddess has link as Helia is to Zelda and demise to Ganondorf the origin of the Endless incarnations of Link throughout time however a more recent Theory suggests that the idea of the first deity is strongly connected to Buddhism in Buddhism there are wrathful beings known as Fierce deities which are in fact enlightened Buddhas that seek to destroy obstacles to Enlightenment such beings from a western perspective would have to look compassionate it but in reality they look like demons task with destroying human vices and in order to defeat evil they need to look this way and act violently in order to achieve enlightenment the paradise found inside the moon especially the tree in the center of the field might be a reference to the tree under which Buddha achieved Enlightenment to put it in a nutshell the fierce deity was an enlightened being who took the form of an evil God to fight evil itself Majora's Mask manga this manga tells a non-canonical story of Majora's Mask very similar to that of the game with a few exceptions however there are some extra pages that describe the origin and creation of Majora's Mask according to it thousands of years ago a creature whose name might be Majora and his armor was set to Grant any wish lived in a desolate Land one day an unknown traveler arrived at the place to rest from his journey being used to humans seeking after its armor he questioned The Traveler about his real intentions after a long conversation The Traveler makes the monsters see how he had been living alone trapped in space after this sudden realization Majora asks the warrior to make time flow to create time as if he had been expecting this creature to say that he takes out a drum and starts playing it ordering the monster to dance for 3 days and three nights after this the Timeless creature passed us away from exhaustion on the morning of the fourth day The Traveler then takes a fragment of the Monster's armor from which he carves a mask that we now know as Majora's mess an object that contained the power of the monster in order to protect the world the Man cast The Mask away if we mix this story with the canonical one at some point in the past an ancient tribe did find it and used it for its rituals but sealed it again for fear of its dangerous nature until the happy mask salesman somehow found it the dance element is referenced in future events as the moon takes three days to fall onto the land at the same time the monster Dance Before passing away and also a reference to how Majora's Incarnation dances in an insane way to attack link okay guys thank you so much for watching if you enjoyed the video please subscribe hit the like button and I'll see you in the next iceberg
