I tried renovating the awful Landgraab mansion in The Sims 4

the land grafts are supposed to be like the richest of the rich like the most influential coolest family in town and yet for some reason ei is just always doing them dirty I mean their house is always weird I hate to be that guy but like I think that the land grab house is maybe one of the worst ones in the base game it's just it's so like long this isn't even a new concept by the way this was their house in the Sims 3 it what is with them and these like weirdly long how is this at least in the Sims 3 they had a pool right but like it's worse from the back what's what is going on here it's just it's always a question of like really what is going on with some of these like what what is this I mean wow you know it's really just it's something I mean you guys I'm gonna be honest I just don't really get like epitome of wealth and style from this the yard is weird it doesn't like scream class and like I have a lot of money to me and the land guys are supposed to be like the richest family in the game you know like in The Sims 3 they owned everything like the school the science labs everything was like the land grab hospital the land grab this like they just owned all the land you don't really get that from the sims 4 and I just the shape of this house I will never get over this what is going on like what is the shape of this bedroom - especially like genuinely what is going on in here so we're gonna try and fix this I've attempted before I don't think it was that good before but we're gonna give it a new try and see if we can come up with something that's maybe a little bit different I want this vibe just elevated I want to elevate the vibe and so here we are popping into the game you'll see that I spent a few hours renovating this it took me two streams to do which is kind of typical look big build like this i stream everyday on Twitch by the way I do a lot of building in the Sims on Twitch it's just kind of fun to like do this sort of thing on Twitch because that way I kind of have like some people to bounce ideas off of because something like this can just be so frustrating to try renovates it's like how do you even go about making this not like this like it's kind of a rough looking build and so sometimes you just need some help you know and so I tried to keep a lot of this original style of the house like I liked how it was kind of long I like the color scheme I like the columns and like the greenish wood thingy and like the stone I liked all of that I just sort of wanted it to look a little bit less weird and so we made an effort to improve it and as I always do with a house like this the first thing I did was make it smaller it really is the first solution to everything it's just like you know what we're going on a smaller scale here it's the only way because there are so many just like weird long rooms and skinny hallways and it just didn't like make sense so I try to make it a little bit smaller I kept some of the balcony space I actually added like an extension because I wanted it to look like less of a big long three-story box I wanted it to be like I don't know more balanced and stuff in some places whatever that means I even put like a skylight in the office space I added an office space so that still being two bedrooms I made the like upstairs before that third floor was like a weird like study room or something it didn't really have many items in it it kind of just had like some weird lighting and like a desk and some bookshelves so I put a study space downstairs in the first floor transform that whole upstairs into a master bedroom and fit in another master bedroom space and fit in another like bedroom space but that becomes a gym so upstairs the whole second floor is like Malcolm's domain Malcolm has his own bedroom but there's also a gym up there and then the third floor is the parent service there's a lot of like separation here the balcony is off of the gym because I figured it'd be weird to give it to Malcolm so I made the balcony off of the gym there's what three four there's four bathrooms in this house and just the two bedrooms so it's really not even like that big of a house I mean obviously four bathrooms is a lot of bathrooms but we're talking about like a mansion mansion like the mansion you know a lot of times you like I don't know about you guys but I frequent Zillow it's a place where people have like house listings and stuff it's fun to look at mansions on Zillow okay I'm gonna be honest I love a good mansion it's just it's exciting to see some of them are ugly and you kind of can look at them and be like wow you made that choice as if like you have the room to judge a person who can afford like a 20 million dollar house you know but some of those houses have like 18 bathrooms like it's ridiculous and that's not even a joke like they have just bathrooms everywhere so realistically this house you know compared to some of those when you think Mansion I don't think you often think of a two-bedroom for bathroom house but that's what this one is technically though it could end up being like four bedrooms because you have the study space and the gym but right now it's just it's just the two there's also two living room spaces there's a formal dining room there's a huge kitchen I mean it's got all the stuff that you need I like the TV room it has an enormous TV and I'm kind of into it and like I said I just used the base game in this house I wanted to see if we could reimagine this with just the base game cuz I mean it's not hard and the thing is I will give some credit where it's due this house was built before they added pools into the game so to me it looks like that huge patio in the back was where a pool was meant to be but if you didn't know when the base game was released we didn't have pools that came in an update for free obviously later on and so we didn't have pools in the game first came out and this house is like perfect for a pool like that's one of the things you would most expect is to have a pool especially like a house in the desert and so I did a lot with the exterior you'll see me add like a pool house I added a giant pool there's a ton of fake grass I had this idea in my mind that like if anyone has any sort of Display of wealth right if you live in the desert what is the biggest display of wealth that you could have and it's a yard because there's a few patches of grass in some places around here even the neighbor across the street has a little bit of grass in their front yard but like you live in the desert like grass does not grow here but Nancy has an enormous grassy front yard and a huge fenced in grassy backyard I like the idea almost of it being real grass and her does having like a really ridiculously high water bill and it's just like this ridiculous waste of water and energy to take to care for this lawn but let's be honest it's it's fake grass but she's a ton of it so it just looked so like luscious and green and they also kept the entire backyard it's like a huge lawn of just grass because she's got like some chairs out there but you'll see it has this amazingly huge pool a huge patio but then just a ton of grass because again what bigger display of wealth can you have in the desert then a ton of grass and so that's what I added back there I actually cut out all of the landscaping from the build because it was just too long but the end the video I'll show you guys what the house actually looks like we can do a quick tour because I know there are some things you will miss but the whole house is very like all white and also with some green touches I tried to make it brighter inside because one of the other like big issues that I take with a lot of ei builds is that they're always so dark like when there's a base game house or like a house any of the world so it's just like one of the default houses they always use like weird cheap lights and not enough lights and it's just always so dark inside of them I think because they're trying to like limit how many objects they're placing and so they don't put as many lights but then it's just so dark and I hate that because first of all there's also a black floor there's black wooden floor so it doesn't help but like they use these dimmed sad lights and it looks so dark in here all the time and that's just not the vibe that you would have from this like enormous house you know that's I just I figured that Nancy would have a way brighter way cooler looking building so I made sure that I made sure of that can we talk about land grabs for a second because talking about Nancy I don't know if you guys knew this but Nancy is a criminal in The Sims 4 her husband Jeffrey is a secret agent let's chat because part of you is like oh it's the Sims you know it's like this cute love story opposites attract ooh you know let's talk more about this for a minute because where do they get their money from right Nancy's a criminal her husband's a secret agent shouldn't we be trusting her husband you know the secret agent to be protecting us and yet all of a sudden he's married to the world's biggest criminal hmm are we sure they aren't like working together against us I don't trust anyone I feel like the concept originally was like oh look you know Jeffrey land-grab is this nice guy he's working for the government trying to protect us but oh no his wife secretly a criminal I think they're in on it they're both in on it together they're trying to ruin everybody I don't trust them and that's just the truth they also disowned their son I'm just guys knew this either but actually in the game it doesn't count because it's not in their family true for some reason but I mean this Sims is kind of has some weird things with relationship statuses and stuff in the past but Johnny's nest is a land grab that guy who lives in the trailer on Oasis Springs the yellow hair entertainer guy yet Johnny's s is the land grabs elder son but they disowned him for wanting to be a comedian it's in his bio and stuff like it's canon it's just not in the family tree so in my mind I built the pool house and I was like Johnny's s can come stay here maybe if he ever is welcome back into the family that's so sad ooh but I also kind of figured maybe the staff lives there like the butler the pool boy someone could stay in that pool house in the back because obviously these people have a butler I mean and of course they don't stay in the main house the help in the main house I think Nance to have an affair with the butler and the pool boy I'm gonna be real it has to be true anyway one of my favorite parts of the house is the kitchen by the way I built the whole kitchen on this idea of having an enormous island like I just I think I dream of this in real life an enormous island I mean think about baking on that Island right like I am so into that concept and so I built this whole house the whole kitchen layout was like I want a huge island and this is what I'm going to get and so I I sort of laid out the rest of the room sort of surrounding that island because I was so into the idea I also feel like okay I don't know the actual word for this but it's maybe a butler's pantry something like that it's essentially one of the girls a poet Instagram has this because I follow a lot of house accounts on Instagram and it's like an enormous pantry and it's got cabinets and counter space in it too it's like that big but you keep all of your appliances in there so she has like her microwave and her toaster and like her mixer and her blenders and all of her appliances like aren't on her counters out there like in this huge like second kitchen that's in her pantry and so her counter space always looks so clean and open and beautiful because she does have like a blender out there or anything but then she has this like fancy pantry with all of her stuff she's one of the people that also has like all of her spices and like custom little jars and like all of her whatever pasta is in like fancy containers it's like her pantry looks so good and obviously that's not very practical for most people I don't think um but Nancy land-grab if anyone could have a beautiful second kitchen it would be Nancy land-grab I didn't put one of those in here because I didn't really know how to lay it out properly that's the thing with the Sims like the houses aren't ever like big enough to incorporate closets I don't feel like you know because Simpson actually need closets and so to have them is kind of like a waste of space and what do you put in them you know I mean this to be fair I did give Nancy a closet like there her her bedroom has a walk-in closet with like clothes hanging up but you know what I mean like they don't actually need them and so I don't often put them in my builds but I feel like if any house were to have a thing like that it would be this one and because I was doing just the base game I think one of the the biggest difficulties I faced with base game builds and obviously it's not like a challenge to build with the base game or anything it's just one thing that I struggle with is lighting because we have a lot of really cool pendant lights and chandeliers and stuff you can get another pax but the base game is kind of lacking some of those things and so I really struggled with trying to find like a super cool pendant light hanging over the dining room table or over the counter so I ended up like sizing up other lights and stuff to try and match it but it just kind of sucks that we didn't really have anything like that because that is so realistic like fancy lighting really makes a space you know we don't really just we just don't have that much of that in the base game so it's a real shame but it's fine I got through it oh sorry about not mentioning this sooner I really like where's her chair because I have a dxracer like a bigger like gaming chair this chair that I'm sitting in right now is usually in the other room and my dxracer is it's all you don't see this but it's all ripped up like the actual seat of it my cat has clawed on it so much in the past it wasn't even snapped the cat that I live with now like my cat it was my parents cat pogey he clawed up that chair so much when I was living at home and like so many strings are coming out of it and there's just like huge patches of like it's it's kind of an icky chair and I still like it but I was kind of like what would it be like if I had a smaller chair for my youtube videos and so I took the chair from the other room and I put it in here and I'm testing it out so it's not like you know it's just like a random chair but in case you were concerned my dxracer is literally right next to me it just switched it for the video but um I don't know we'll see how I feel about this i doesn't really matter but i'm just we're trying something new and speaking of trying something new I gave Malcolm land-grab his bedroom obviously it's a huge bedroom he's got a huge gaming setup he's got fancy posters on the walls you know but in my mind mouthing I was a teenager you know so he's older he's probably 16 17 he's got a giant teddy bear in his room because he can't sleep without it and I think that's very fitting I believe in this I think that we should all go and add teddy bears into Malcolm's teenage bedroom I like that concept of mouth I feel like Malcolm tries to be like so cool and like I'm a cool guy I'm I'm so strong and like old for my age look at me I'm so mature but then he likes teddy bear I I respect that and honestly I kind of relate to that but I gave him a teddy bear he deserved barfi okay he needed if anyone needs barfi it's Malcolm land-grab like come on I also have a teddy bear but I don't sleep of it every day I didn't build a bear recently my boyfriend and I went to build a bear and Brighton like a year ago and I have a teddy bear I don't um I don't sleep with it though I kind of struggle to sleep with teddy bears now I used to though for a very long time as a child those my teddy bear is still in my closet at home maybe I should get that I have a blankie and the teddy bear he's actually a stuffed dog but I used to sleep with both of those things every night for a very very long time and honestly I kind of miss them so maybe I'll go grab well you won't go grab them right now but maybe someday I can go get them home Thanks yikes oh speaking of things we can't do right now I don't know if you guys saw but yesterday I cut my own hair people okay so I posted a video about this and I was like I kept my own hair it was kind of bold and people were like little seams II cut one inch off over here and called it bold you try cutting your hair this short by yourself I think that is bold okay look there's a lot of room for error when you cut your hair this short and it is a disaster it's one thing when you cut like an inch off of your hair when it's super long and it's like oopsies I need to cut off an extra inch to fix it I don't have many extra inches to work with and there's kind of some mistakes in the back so it is a little bit bold to cut your hair this short by yourself okay also my hair is very straight and it doesn't like when you have like curly your hair it's like it there's like more room for error because you like kind of hides mistakes a little bit better my hair is bone straight like there there is no room for error and I think it was bolt to cut my own hair let me have this okay I feel a lot better though with my hair shorter like this is this is who I am I hate when my hair gets too long when it's touching my shoulders it bugs me so much I've been like very much struggling with it for a long time I know that sounds dumb but like this is this is my real life you know what I cannot deal with my hair being long what finishing up the main house now though in the build you see we've got the the master bedroom with their like fancy closet and everything we're moving on to the pool house and the pool house is perhaps my favorite part because I tried to make it like the whole main house is very green and blue color scheme this one is very like teal but you know that like beachy look that you see on Pinterest and stuff I tried to do that but like make it fancy and modern and so I just I thought it was kind of funny-looking i I made myself laugh with this and I realized that stumped but it this is just who I am okay and also I know what you're thinking little Suzy builds a modern house no I didn't even build a modern house i renovated a modern house I still don't like building houses like this like I don't know how to build a house like this from scratch I don't like hate the style of it I don't like hate the interior of modern looking builds I just feel more comfortable building like more traditional houses in the sames because that's what I like no one how to build I just I can't really like envision a house like this from scratch and build it I really struggle with that and so I mostly build like more traditional looking builds and then it kind of becomes a meme where it's like haha seems he hates modern houses haha seems you can't build anything that's not traditional I just I just don't know how okay but I know how to renovate a land grab a house that's not hard sorry I need to defend myself a little bit people mushroom or like I thought you hated modern builds well no I don't hate them I just don't know how to build them that's different anyway but it's coming along very nicely and of course the pool boy now has a place to stay so everyone's happy I think it turned out really really cute this whole house is kind of dumb but I feel like it's a fun change and honestly like with the number of things they've added in the base game like recently and updates and just with the existing base game the base game for the sims 4 is genuinely pretty good like this not a hard thing to build with I keep saying this but there are so many items in it there is a man mowing his lawn this is not helpful anyway here my friends we have the finished product so as you can see we have enormous grassy fields we got a guy being super loud has even fountains up here okay obviously the grass sort of ends and it turns back into desert but I love the idea for having this like fake grass front yard then in the back we have another enormous grassy field I feel like this is just you want these like huge lawns like mansions part of their their little brags about being mansions as having a ton of land and so you just have these huge lawns there's a fancy pathway that takes you up to the pool house this is what it looks like inside I think it turned out really cute I love the bathrooms every bath in this whole house is like white on white I think it looks kind of pretty and then of course we have like an ocean photo above the bed and stuff the pool is enormous I intentionally didn't put any pool at or any things I kind of wanted it to just be flat I like how it looks just this huge enormous amount of water there's a bar you've got a grill an outdoor table you've got some lounge space I like the exterior of this house a lot but when you come actually inside there's a half bath right here at the front we've got a fancy dining room a fireplace of course you know in the desert you need one of those there's like a formal sitting space if you also have a huge kitchen you've got some juice I love love love how this looks this is my favorite part of a whole house this office space I think it looks so good I was really proud of myself for that plus it's got like the fancy skylights and stuff into it over here is the TV room and then when you go upstairs you've just got a big old hallway Malcolm's room is over here you know of course Blur feet and everything they gonna come back the gyms over here custom expensive workout equipment I put down this like rug to look like a yoga mat obviously this is the base game so there's no yoga mats but it kind of works you could like dance here if you wanted to or something and then they have actually a private balcony off of the gym then there's a little chess table there but I don't know you could put like anything there maybe if you wanted to play in this house you could like put a cupcake machine who knows there's also another bathroom right here look at how huge this hall bathroom is there's a sink and a toilet in their own room like there's two sinks in this bathroom that was kind of inspired by Sofia and Tyler they made a tour of this like fancy suite they stayed in at the Westgate in Las Vegas and they had this like enormous huge hotel in the West get paid for them to stay in and all the little half bath rooms like the bathrooms had a separate water closet like this and all of them had a sink in it too which is so dumb because there's a sink right there but I sort of took that and I ran with it and then of course upstairs is the master area they have a fancy hallway of their own there's some moneybags just hanging out you know because where else would you keep your money of course the master bedroom is right here they've got a huge closet all their clothes are hanging on the walls plenty of mirror space some gold bars and then the bathroom is in here they've got a big tub and everything so I think this turned out really well I really like this I think the shape of it's way better I honestly I used to hate this part that's in the original house but I kept it and I think it kind of works and honestly the white windows it just it makes it look so much better I wish they had those before what instead of the brown windows trust me this is a this is an improvement I think but obviously I'm a little bit biased cuz I did it but it's all my gallery it's just called bankrupt mansion if you're interested in downloading it but on that note
