[Music] patrons at sake beerus so today i'm here with miyabi hi oh my god so like this is super cereal cuz I think I've known about you since I was like 13 really yeah when I was like getting into Japanese rock like super into the visual kei is like fad and then I also like found you and I think the first song I heard was dear my friend oh really yeah I actually have this poster of like you kissing a cat thank you yeah yeah we're doing this in Tokyo right now so to start off I understand your new album no sleep till Tokyo drop soon so can you tell us more about your thoughts and inspiration for this album as opposed to your past releases mm-hmm so this is the first album after three years so I've been doing a collaborative album with other singers rappers every time I go outside of Japan you know I'm a guitarist you know I want to be recognized as a guitarist and I want to express with the guitar that's why I've been focusing on making stuff but this time you know as as an artist you know I know my audience my fans who are supporting me for a long time my voice is also part of my creation yeah before this album I've been singing mostly in English yeah it's pretty tough you know but to deliver the message to the whole world it's been really really important to me you know crucial to sing in English I guess I kind of answers like one of the questions I had here there's a lot of songs I noticed where English and Japanese are mixed together so I wanted to know if there was any reason for combining the two or if it's easier to sing one over the other I mean actually both you know first in the Japanese is my in a first language so it's of course easier to express myself you know to choose words to have your local you know your own language which is not English makes your creation more unique as long as the sound quality is global so yeah that's the kind of one of the things that I wanted to try try this time to combine the groove of the Japanese of the language you know I've been quite far from in Japanese culture so now I can observe the culture in Japan and Tokyo it's fun it's really unique yeah I think musics like kind of a really cool way for people to kind of get into the culture where it comes from especially if it's like in another language yeah they'd never been to like with me I do uh I started off with anime but I feel like with anime that kind of puts Japanese culture so I feel like it's kind of a similar thing with me yeah and so it's kind of cool that you're trying to like share that also yeah and you know even in a country you can't notice you know how good the country you're in is you know if you're living in there you know what I mean so you're you've been seeing Japan from outside so there's a lot of things that are you imagine kind of you know that like a fantasy yeah honey may but it's different what but that's the reality and also as a Japanese now all right as I said we discover in this country and a great stuff like a hospitality or service or even the accuracy you know the how the trains work here yeah you know the people are really nice and kind and in that personality to me it's it's a goal yeah you can just you know leave your wallet on the street and it's gonna come back to your home I've wanted to do a video of that of leaving my phone kind of scared to do that so might do a video on that do it yeah you know you're gonna come back aside from music do you have a special skill that most people I don't know I've been showing everything I have yeah I think there's nothing left actually there's nothing that you haven't like yeah I do you know I also do acting a little bit of modeling you know the wrong way because I you know Yoshi and y3 stuff I'm broken was amazing oh thank you I did not know that that was you for a while oh really yeah cuz I think like I went on hiatus like for a bit so when I saw I was like why does it look so familiar it's like oh that was him so they shouldn't look at me you know Angie Angelina Jolie and a great actress and also a director and also humanitarian you know he's she's been walking for UNHCR which is a part of a UN so I got influenced by her and then she taught me and it got me inspired and then now as an ambassador I just got back from Bangladesh to meet and visit the refugee camps of people from Nima so many people are fleeing their countries and home and it's really tough you know so my mission now you know doing in music acting and I'm fashion but the same time other humanitarian it's to put the right message in a cool creation it's my mission you know it's a bit far image from being rock star also as a dad of two daughters I really feel responsible to show the right way and then you know now I never expected to be in a refugee camp with the light blue hat you know a UNHCR official hat the thing I would want to you know tell you you know is the fact that I didn't know anything about refugees five years ago before I met Angie I had I had no knowledge or experience so that shows that you know everyone can do something in the future you know that's why I'm not staying to my fans to act or do something right now because you know if your student or you know you can't you know can't you know visit the refugee camps you know maybe in the future there's something that you can do something I cannot do no monami so I really believe that everyone has each role the first time and I visited the refugee camp in Lebanon I was really scared because you know nothing you know I was even thinking that maybe I I don't know how much you know I was able to help them you know just to visit in there you know I was not as famous as Angie or you know no experience but the first moment I play the guitar kids crazy in a day like wow the you know I saw the brightness and then that Wow is hope you know every time we feel hope in a while the excitement is our future you know as long as they are excited to their life I think it's fine it was like something so simple like you to you but to them it I actually meant something yeah it's like not just musician kind of integrated it to contribute to the world in some way I guess that all Sciences like the other question of like what it was what it's like being a musician and a father and an actor I guess because you know in Japan it's kind of you know some people don't tell they were even yeah they do actually is really sensitive you know especially Asian countries it's not that open so I don't want to hide you know about my kids especially to people who are supporting me yeah you know what I mean I'm a fans of course you know I don't want to hide anything you know if anything it's pretty humbling to you know show that you know you've taken the responsibility as a father but you can still like you know be rocks are if you want yeah and it seems like from I saw like this one video I think your kids are like jumping like in front of the stage while you're like practicing yeah yeah I love that video so much because it's like so wholesome you know and you have the caption I think what was it like playing da Kia in the bleach movie and you have a favorite line that was great I mean now I think I could have done better yeah because to me you know as an artist that was a quite challenge to create something really real you know the real character at the same time that's a fantasy so you know what I mean even a hairstyle sometimes it's impossible to make it you know what I mean because that's that imagination but that's our responsibility so I've always said that anime is very hard to do as a live-action because it's like there are certain tropes and certain character six at work it's hard to do that same thing as a person inferred not to like you awkward yeah just only capture the the beginning of that whole whole story yeah I like that kind of the war like also I know like the wall word yeah he's saying too slow I heard that so yeah you know the artist for Tokyo ghoul did the art for your yeah is that true yeah yeah okay so with that being said in Tokyo ghoul they have like this character Utah he looks a lot like you I just want to know if like there if that was just a coincidence now that I know he did the art or if that was on purpose at all the answer is not coincidence really and he comes to my show as well you know as an artist I really respect him and and I know lots of my fans love Tokyo ghoul as well yeah and they're just you know keep blaming him I keep looking at almost like I sort of got like this is me obviously everything so that's why tonight I've been telling him okay they're gonna make a Hollywood version yeah yeah got a costume if they don't do I'm gonna be mad you've heard he's open to doing it so please please do it and then I also saw an article that you're going to be collaborating with another favorite artist of mine a local the opportunity happened for the movie diner diner which is directed by Myka Ninagawa yeah echo has kind of like a very distinctive voice with that very light yeah rapping she has interesting hearing with your guitar so here she's you know great singer rapper and also she kind of represents kind of modern Tokyo flights you know you know music scene is it you're also during the movie Disney's Maleficent - oh yeah but that's a note music that's the acting work right I love to make music for that film but I know Angie yeah you're again yeah I mean you know we've been I mean she's been great and then at this time she kind of created that one character for me and then it's not a big big role but it's really meaningful and in my first good guy role so I've been doing a villain in the bad guys it's really fun what's your favorite anime do you have one yeah the modern one on classic one whichever whichever yeah you know Go Go 13 yeah that's the one Japanese sniper it's really a lot of political things are in anime you know I really like the you know anime and manga which has lots of philosophy you know attitude toward your life what is the craziest thing that you've ever done on stage during a concert I'm not crazy on stage at all yeah you know 18:19 kind of is just trying to trying to burn the backdrop on stage and throw that to the audience I think kind of you know dive into the crowd the the life and in concert is like having conversation about having sex it's not like more interaction it's it's not something you do by yourself right okay we can play music but we can't make a concert without the audience yeah one of my favorite songs and one of my favorite using videos from miyabi is actually the song guard you oh yeah alright so before playing and let me introduce this guitar this is a new product from fender okay I'm not here for just introduce it up but you know this is a great stuff and then they just made an announcement this is the electric and acoustic I think it can be both well yeah so I've been playing with this you know it's kind of there looking like just a little really thing but the quality of Darko 6 on is really good and then you know it can be electric as well it was really good [Music] let's [Music] this is my way my way my way my way took all right you will be far away away away from you I'd do anything to take away the pain there's lots of great guitars in the world like Eric Clapton BB King or Stevie Ray Vaughan and whoo I got inspired and influenced by so I got inspired by shamisen you know I'm saying ah Japanese like [Music] any part is different and it's used for kabuki or no it's a Japanese traditional place you know african-american or even worse than people have a great groove on the music and we don't have it you know it's it's from language also weather and then the location and in the way you know the bone structure as well as we you know the Japanese is not as dynamic as English others even notice you know yeah more flat mmm drift straight forward yes so even a Japanese traditional dance is more like flat the way they move is really flat so but like you see with simul battle mm-hmm the impact is really really important that's the strength and that that strength is something that Japanese people can have and then the may be the strongest in the whole world so to me instead of cast Rami [Music] to me this one hit is everything so just does that stop basis like a marshmallow or you know lower ground lots of stop bases something like just start the strings this is not that's you know complicated at all it's really simple things basically just sloppy mmm but to me this is my identity you know to show my attitude as created but the most important thing is experience and then you know performance you know every single moment is really precious for us yeah well I mean I'm glad that you'll be really sharing it I feel like you are coming out with another tour coming up right yeah in North America in Canada in July okay we're going to Mexico to our July August and then Europe in October good stuff I'll put a link in the description for that you guys can go meet me avi and see him rock out and just have fun with him honestly as he said like when just making music it's like having a conversation with you guys it's not just like a separated thing because some people think it's like a separate thing just audience and then musician just does their thing I feel like it's just it's kind of like one big party I feel like everyone is just a part of it you know definitely check that out check out his new album coming out as well so thank you so much thank you this is so like surreal row oh thank you and welcome back okay let me know in the comments below of what you guys thought of you know this interview I appreciate you guys watching subscribe to my channel for anime otaku and Japanese really content and I will see you guys in the next video bye [Music]
