If itβs not a Toyota, Honda, or an F150; Scotty wonβt like it. He likes boring cars.
My 2012 2.0t Q5 is an oil burning ticking time bomb. Iβm inclined to agree with him.
The 2009 - 2015 Audi A4s, have a variant of the problem 2.0 TFSI engine. It was a manufacturing defect that caused them to burn oil after some time (due to the pistons), until the engine dies. I bought my 2009 A4 (looks similar to Scotty's, just grey), with 112,000KM, that's 70K miles, for cheap. Turns out it literally had the two most expensive common issues for these cars, the front bushings/arms/hubs, and an oil-burning engine. Long story short, there's an excellent team of Audi mechanics not far for me, they did a full engine rebuild, put in new pistons without the defect, even swapped out the lower engine block with a newer model, and preemptively replaced the tensioner (another common issue), now the car runs like liquid gold and probably has another 10 years in it. No more oil burning issues, or any sort of issues. Where these cars are reliable is in the build quality of their interiors and the Quattro all wheel drive system and transmission. So I spent $8K CAD on the car + $7.5K CAD to fix front suspension and hub issues and rebuild the engine with a new lower block, pistons etc. So for the total all-in cost, it's now a pretty good car, but Scotty is right, these cars have a few very common, very expensive issues that make this a bit of a time-bomb.
But has he never heard of battery management system?
Donβt care for him. And neither does r/cars
C'mon Scotty! You don't need to boost the battery from the trunk! If you pop open the owner's manual you'll find a section called Use of Jumper Cables
nah, this guy is kinda a meme.
Depends on the Audi. Had a 2008 A4 2.0T quattro that was excellent. Now have a 2018 A6 3.0T. If you research and pick the right model years, they're great.
Scotty is a annoying and has a fetish for old Japanese cars. Some of his tips dangerous and most of them illegal over here. His titles are clickbait and I can't stand him. Judging by the thumbnail without watching the video he is rambling about the B8 2.0tfsi oil burning issues, some cheap plastic in wrong places, the timing chain, electronics and that the cars aren't easy to work on. He is right about that, but I don't think the car owns the title of worst car ever made.
I bet he doesn't talk about how the car drives and the advantages of some of those "bad" design decisions.
Can someone who watched it confirm it?
