I caught up on One Piece; Let's rank the arcs (Tier List) [SPOILERS]

[Music] [Music] I did it I actually did it about 2 months ago on November 28th 2023 cuz you know it's 2024 now happy New Year that was the day I officially caught up on one piece and not just with the anime but also with the manga as well so I'm caught up on aead as we speak so I can officially say I am now part of this long crazy journey and I am now part of the one piece fandom and my God it was hell catching up and I honestly don't wish it upon my worst enemy I'm kidding kind of I mean I am proud to admit that I can now watch the anime weekly since I caught up with most of the recent chapters it took me only a month to get through 598 chapters but once it got into the new world I really had to slow down since the series got more layered with lore and characters but I made it through and the more I got into it the more I got hooked I don't know if it's one of the best stories ever written but it juggles with so many different themes and handles them all very well that it really is up there in terms of quality this story juggles with many different conversations from war pirating government oppression slavery class oppression gender identity religion family trauma and so many others that I can't name because again the story is incredibly dense the story is just pretty badass if I'm being honest since catching up I felt like doing another ranking of all these arcs since I did one last time I know tier lists are as original as fortnite Let's Plays this remind me of like those glass in the first one amen but they helped me get my thoughts out better and remember certain moments in the story there were only nine new arcs after this time skip compared to the 23 that happened before chapter 599 but those nine arcs had reveal after reveal and the story opened up way more than ever just from Fishman Island I have been wanting to do this video ever since I finished my first one piece video because ever since then my thoughts on some older arcs have changed and I figured I would use this video to explain my reasoning for those changes I want to give room for clever foreshadowing Odo left in the old older arcs but I still want to rank them on enjoyment overall I'm going to be quick with a bunch of these first couple of arcs because I talked a lot about them in my last video and most of my opinions on them only change slightly or none at all so I'm not really going to go over them too much when it comes to the story I'm mainly going to be talking about it from the manga perspective but I won't shy away from using anime clips or screen caps well probably not dress Rosa because ever since I watched some episodes of the dress Rosa anime [Music] adaptation oh I've been reading the manga a lot more and then occasionally going back to the anime if there's a really big fight or episode some of the animation only started to get somewhat consistent in wano but by that point the anime was only adapting one chapter or less an episode thank you toy I really do appreciate that God I'm really glad they're remaking the anime with wit Studio good luck to all those guys by the way hopefully this isn't Dro like Attack on Titan or Vinland Saga I don't know maybe they'll just stick to spyx family listen I'm sorry to go after toei I actually do really like the anime but man it can have its issues hey you know what at least it has really good comedic timing anyways how about we start with this ranking also one last thing this video was supposed to come out like a month or two sooner but I got distracted with Adventure Time also cuz I was lazy playing Red Dead Redemption there was just a lot sorry this video took a while so let's go you fat [ __ ] all right romance Dawn uh B tier it's a great intro to the series I love when Luffy stabs his face and says he's going to become the pirate king and we also got Zoro and Kobe there too and but yeah pretty good intro orange town uh B tier as well it's short but it's fun buggy and Nami are introduced Nami accompanies Luffy and buggy gets kicked in the [Applause] balls you know it might just be an a tier now that I think about it are you going to cry piss your pants maybe maybe [ __ ] and C S Village a c tier I'm I'm sorry s Village fans it's an okay Arc and it has good moments but I find it slower than most of the earlier arcs Uso's moments are cool here so this does get some recognition but TA or baratti I still don't know how to pronounce this freaking restaurant's name how to pronounce barati okay great introduction to Sanji and I really like the side characters of the restaurant while I still question to this day if Sanji actually respects women he doesn't he still is a good cook and is a nice guy arong Park this is the first s tier and is easily one of the first s tiers because this is still to this day an incredible early Arc it's one of the best arcs in East blue Saga and nami's backstory is just perfectly tragic I do miss arlong by the way and I really hope he comes back in the later arcs by the way Luffy gets his first ever Bounty and we learned that 30 million is basically chump change compared to these new age Pirates now we'll get there eventually thank you lown this Arc is just incredible man and to this day I still think this Arc is very important Luffy is about to be executed but before he does he makes his big declaration to become the pirate king he says all this while he's about to be executed on the same platform that Roger was executed on and in the same town that Roger was born in to this day this moment is still incredible and I love it so much the barrel scene along with this on the boat has stuck with me ever since and I can't wait to get to the finish line of the story because it is coming up soon it's great to look back here and see just how far this small group of five became one of the biggest and toughest pirate groups in history oh yeah by the way this is the arc where we get introduced to smoker and zoro's cursed sword smoker is such a dope character by the way I hope he has more to do in the future yeah I'm going to put it an S tier I know this part of the story is really short but I love it very much also I know damn well this lightning strike was caused by Dragon who else was going to do this enel did enel just missfire or something reverse Mountain C tier it's very short but it is a cute and funny Arc with subtle foreshadowing from corcus also it's our introduction to Vivy by the way I really like how they did this joke in the [Music] anime also don't forget about laboon because he's actually very important yeah why don't you come over and say that to my face tough guy whiskey Peak uh B tier it's a nice little teaser for alabasta broke works and Robin God man going back in time and rereading these old chapters you can see how well the story has progressed and now knowing how important some of these older characters were by the way this is where the alabasta Saga starts and this is where things start to get really interesting for our crew [Music] members little garden C tier it's a nice teaser for elb but it didn't really stick with me cuz while it is important to know about the Giants it does feel like filler the big slash was cool though and we got our introduction to crocodile so it does have its [Music] place drum Island baby a tier Chopper's backstory Chopper's introduction Chopper's character design Chopper Chopper Chopper I love Chopper oh and I can't forget about when Luffy made the decision to climb a mountain with his bare hands and feet just to save Nami and Sanji if this doesn't prove to you that Luffy is a great friend I don't know what will granted he's not perfect he did try to eat Chopper wait the [ __ ] up it's alabasta or arabasta I really don't know it tells me both names at the same time on the internet to this day this is still one of my favorite arcs in one piece you got crocodile you got viv's backstory the big civil war and every one of the crew members finding their resolve against their respective opponents we also get introduced to two amazing characters Ace Luffy's brother and Mr 2 AKA Bon cud who's also probably one of the funniest characters in the entire series and here we got Ace Ace of course being Luffy's older brother is more organized than Luffy but they still have similar personality traits Ace is more mature but they are similar when it comes to eating habits and ways of presentation also sleeping a lot wait the [ __ ] I love ace and I hope nothing bad happens to him in the foreseeable future also Luffy's bounty finally goes up to 100 million good job my dude you're finally in the rookie status be careful some other rookies might get jealous speaking of that ja a tier this Arc is short but it's nuts how many characters were introduced in this short little Arc you got Bellamy and damingo and you also got the introduction to the smile for the dress Rosa Arc also you got this guy named te who Luffy gets mad at cuz he likes cherry pies I don't know what Luffy's problem is b skypia s tier I know people out there are probably saying to skip skypia as a joke but if you actually do skip skypia you are missing out on some very very important story moments like story moments that come back 800 chapters later even besides all that this Arc is funny incredible and has some amazing storytelling by the way Anella is still a top villain for me and I really do hope he comes back in the near future long ring Long Island I I'm sorry this is going into D tier I know I know the Friendship Sanji and Zoro but I really don't care for this Arc it has funny moments and subtle telling of how Robin is important to the crew and you got afro Luffy but in the end most of what happened felt like anime filler to me and the arc doesn't have a big standing in the overall story I know I know long dog and long animals all that [ __ ] but I just couldn't get into it now Water Seven though you little cp9 Iceberg the T to Robin's backstory and Frankie I love water 7 man if arlong Park got me to keep reading then water 7 is what got me hooked to the narrative completely The Arc after this though is when I truly became a fan pasta machine hey yo what the [ __ ] enus Lobby now this is possibly one of the highest s tiers I did a quick reread of water 7 in enus lobby and I'm not exaggerating when I say that these two are still peak one piece the way this part of the story builds up to where Luffy is willing to go to war with the world for one person is insanely beautiful and telling of his character and we learned that Robin is actually a very important person to the world government but that doesn't matter the reason why Luffy is trying to save Robin is because he cares for her friendship he risks his life and safety to make sure that Robin would want to live again and to stay with the crew if this wasn't sad already we end off the ark with the death of the going Mary and yes she did technically die she had her final words and godamn it Oda why am I crying and getting sad over a boat yeah okay post's Lobby a tier nice little breather in the story after all those crazy moments and oh my god Kobe and Helo are tough as [ __ ] now Luffy has a grandpa on the Marines and his dad is a revolutionary what the [ __ ] yeah the story just can't slow down even for a minute and it only gets crazier also Ace got his asby by TSH and got arrested skill issue sorry dude by the way you can tell GARP is Luffy's Grandpa because he carelessly tells him that his dad is a revolutionary and he is just straightforward with his actions also he sleep sleeps a lot too Thriller bark a tier I love Brooke he's such a cool dude and his backstory is tragic yet amazing especially with how laboon was a part of that backstory also this is the second and full introduction to Kuma and he is such an amazing character still to this day to top it all off this Arc of course has zoro's shiny moment as a loyal member of the straw hack crew Zoro just only becomes cooler with each passing Arc even though we know little to nothing about his life besides his friend falling down the stairs and dying 's our first ban of the day chat oh yeah you're done buddy okay you're banned I'm going to ban you yeah you're not getting away with it too I'm not letting two of them slide you're banned get him out of here sood archipelago s tier I put so many in S rank it looks weird now I'm probably wrong on some of these but hey we push forward this Arc is short but it's arguably one of the most important moments in the story so far so many characters are introduced that will show up later just like Gaia so many important moments happen to Luffy just like lown and so many story lines are introduced that will be explored 500 to 600 chapters later it's just such a dense Arc that introduces a lot and again best character here if not for him Luffy and his crew would be food for the world government I'm naked Amazon Lily at B tier it's a cool point in the story but it's funny how the place Luffy was sent to was an Island full of women warriors like it's the mistura thank God Sanji didn't end up here though cuz it would have been bad instead he got sent to okama Island thank God for that anyway it's a cool short Arc I like how Luffy's conqueror's hockey was shown in full force here besides this moment with the animal also Boa Hancock is funny impel down man this Arc is awesome it's such a great prison Arc because Luffy has to break into a prison and then break out so that he can save his brother Ace of course Luffy can't do this alone so he incorporates some new friends and old foes including people like Bon and crocodile also we meet a future straw head member jimbe by the way Ivan kov is the coolest character ever gender fluid Powers while also being ah head of a revolutionary Army like I said this story is badass also during the prison break we run into that guy again I don't know what his deal is here but he seems pretty harmless by the way I totally missed this when I was reading the manga but I now know bond isn't actually dead but is still alive now taking over in new Comm land I thought he fully got killed off by the prison Warden now well not surprised Oda hasn't killed off any major characters yet at this point besides backstory characters what's the worst that could happen Okay so Marine Ford High s tier one of the best Arsenal all of One Piece easily okay so um Ace is actually Roger son and then he dies sorry yeah I was pretty shocked when I got here this is such an incredible Arc and definitely one of the best arcs in all of One Piece is tragic super action-packed filled with almost every single character we have met throughout the journey so far and seeing how each one interacts with each other so many amazing moments including Luffy's conqueror's hockey but all of this was not able to stop the inevitable Ace was tragically killed by the magma Admiral Ayu trying to protect Luffy and Luffy just has the most devastating breakdown I have ever witnessed of course Mr Edward Nan ain't happy about this situation though he was getting the good jump on Ayu and uh oh oh [ __ ] oh God I guess this guy Tish was actually important Blackbeard AKA Marshall D TSH once a member of the Whitebeard Pirates betrayed the crew by killing a member and then eventually turning into one of the most powerful pirates in history him and his pirate crew came in at the very tail end of the war just to kill off Whitebeard and take his devil fruit ability yeah he just casually takes his power after killing him funny enough after this really cool and scary Moment by Blackbeard we don't hear about him for a very long time guess he awaits in the new world this Arc is just masterful and still one of the best arcs in one peace rest in peace Ace maybe I'll see you in fortnite if God had wanted you to live he would not have created me postwar a tier a perfect ending to what is technically the one piece prologue we get a bigger look into Luffy's backstory as well as Aces and we finally understand Ace and his outlook on the world and how Luffy changed his way of thinking and communicating by being friends with Ace and Sabo Sabo of course was one of the only other friends that Ace had at the time a rich city kid who hated his lifestyle and hated the people that he was living with as time goes on these three kids grow up and love each moment with each other and promising to one another that they three will become great pirates of the future sorry about that Sabo dies in quotations by the way Ace never cried before but it wasn't until he read sabo's final words in a letter where he just let everything out at once of course time goes on Ace leaves to become a great pirate and the rest is history God I miss Ace so much dude he was such an incredible character after that whole backstory we get Luffy being treated for his wounds and screaming for his brother of course your sibling dying in your arms is going to traumatize you to the core jimbe gives him a talking to and eventually Luffy comes to his senses knowing that he still has his friends fast forward he's on this island with rley and is there to spend the next 2 years learning hockey he was going to meet his friends 3 days after they were separated but now he wants to train for the next 2 years in hopes that he will never lose another friend again good luck Luffy you're going to need that strength for the new world wow that was a lot of story to get through and there's still a lot more story to get through so let's just get right on ahead [ __ ] yourself return to sabot uh B tier it's a cool return to the story with Luffy and everyone seeing each other in their new looks one complaint though I really hated how Sanji was reintroduced I don't know if VOD just wanted to write Sanji as the most insufferable douchebag cuz he doesn't like his character but the way he was acting to mature as [ __ ] was not fun to see and whatever besides that Zoro cut up a ship and after the reunion they had the fisherman Island also thank you Kuma for watching the [Music] boat Fishman Island I uh I have no idea where to put this I'm just going to put this in B for right now it was C at first and then I thought about it being a but it's at B because I did not enjoy it that much but it does have some really important story bits it's not a bad Arc but it's definitely not a good start to the new world especially with sanji's dumb nose bleed gag I like jinbe's backstory though I wish his ass joined the crew back then though I'm a bird Punk Hazard B tier as well this was a cool Arc and I liked how it was the start of the whole wano adventure with the introduction of kinon and Mos also Law's moment with Virgo was the biggest highlight this moment was [ __ ] sick dress Rosa a tier but if we're talking about the anime adaptation on the one hand gold on the other hand painful agonizing failure yeah toi really messed up with this Arc dude and watching this Arc made me want to focus more on the manga side of the story The pacon was atrocious and the animation was just really Bland which sucks cuz this Arc is really important to the narrative but besides my gripes with the anime dress Rosa is still such an amazing story arc du Flamingo was an amazing villain and Law's backstory with cordone was beautiful by the way I'm going to say Rebecca isn't a bad character but a lot of the cool characterizations she was going to have went to her dad chyros who is way cooler in writing also we finally got our first look at kaido from here on out [ __ ] is going to get crazy oh one more thing sabo's alive I'm going to kill you okay so zo it was a b tier at first but after finishing wano it's definitely an a tier for me it's a nice little Arc that takes place on a giant elephant where we meet a tribe of anthropomorphic talking animals called The Mink tribe it's like Bojack Horsemen rehab was supposed to be a fresh also we finally get shown the road poneglyphs and learn about the Kazuki Clan and we learn that MOS is actually a Kazuki Clan member since he's the son of Odin of course in this Arc we also have Sanji being captured by big mom's Pirates because he's being called for an arranged marriage by his biological family and big mom herself so go save your reverted cook Luffy you need some good food in your stomach and then kill you again all right whole cake s tier okay let's be real for a second between Thriller bark and and whole cake I've been on the fence with Sanji on one hand he's a really interesting character and his abilities in cooking and fighting make him really cool to see on the other hand he's a gross perverted creep like all the other characters in various mangas at least he's not master roshi [ __ ] hate that guy for Sanji he has great moments of characterization but other moments I want him to die however Hulk cake is that one Arc where Sanji is given his time to shine he gets to show his true self and exactly what he's been through in the past he sacrificed his life to save his friends but they refuse to leave him behind even after beating up Luffy and forc SE himself to stay behind even if the story wasn't focused on Sanji the situations the crew were getting into were incredible louy versus katak Curry Big Mama's musical numbers and of course Luffy hanging out with Branch but yeah this Arc made me really like Sanji a lot more even though he's still really gross and creepy even up until the later arcs [ __ ] bath house he's in the walls levely or the riveri arc B tier this Arc may not be the shortest that title goes to reverse Mountain but this is still such a brief moment in the story I thought it was just an extended intro to wano I was getting used to these long arcs I didn't expect one to be as short as six chapters anyways this point the narrative has all the kingdoms to come together like it's a United Nations meeting and we see the world thrown which is said to remain empty to show that the world is not I repeat not ruled over by one single figure except it is they're [ __ ] lying one wo s tier not only that it gets the highest s tier that we can give it listen I know I sang My praises to enus Lobby water 7 alabasta and Marine Ford because those story arcs are amazing but wano is undoubtedly the best Arc so far due to how the entire story felt like it was leading up to this point in time so many moments from the story spaning all the way back to romance Dawn come full circle here and this Arc is filled with so many reveals let's just go through a few of them the reveal of mos and the entire Kazuki Clan traveled from the past the reveal of the smile fruits Odin's backstory scene three of the the worst generation Pirates work under kaido kiro's true self- revealed Sanji unlocking his germa power Zoro becoming the king of hell and joy boy finally Awakening Jesus I'm just barely scratching the surface of what happened in this 100 plus chapter Arc by the way I binged this series so I didn't have to wait during all of these Cliffhangers but I can't believe so many people had to watch Luffy fight kaido for a year and a half it's pretty worth it though wano almost felt like a side story that you have to complete to get the true and complete ending imagine if Luffy skipped out on wano like my God man so much would not have happened and so much would have happened that would have been so bad for the world one thing I love about this Arc was how involved Zoro was when he was on his own this Arc was the first time Zoro had some personal character growth and the first time since the East blue arc where we get some backstory even if it's small we still learn a little bit of his past I hope we do learn more about Zoro later because he's just such a cool character also I thought L was going to join the straw head crew but the more I got into the story the less I thought that was going to happen considering the love he has for his own personal crew not like he wanted to join anyways but even if he didn't jimbe finally comes to embed himself within the crew but to be honest everyone is already strong as [ __ ] so he could hang back and I don't know if it would actually do anything again I love Jim B he's cool but he would have been useful the last two times he had a chance to join I mean I know he joined in whole cake but he didn't officially join join until he got to wano either way lots of things happened in this Arc including MOS growing up to 28 don't think about it for too long by the way he cries they all said goodbye and they all head to Egghead the end but yeah that's wano I glossed over some things and I forgot to mention some other story bits but this Arc is just so that I don't want to go over everything oh and sorry I forgot to mention yam shout out yam by the way all praises the Vincent chanard for animating all these episodes of wano because he [ __ ] killed it last one we got on the list is Egghead I wasn't going to include this Arc because it's still currently ongoing but it's really good so far that it has to be an S tier by the way spoilers ahead just skip to this time right here if you don't want to know what's coming up cuz I know there are people who only watch the anime which is cool but still I'm going to talk about aad a little bit okay we're good here we go this Arc marks the final Saga for the story and I believe after this we have El bath but man putting that to the side Egghead is just unbelievable Luchi versus Luffy Kazar versus Luffy kid versus Shanks law versus Blackbeard learning about Bonnie and Kuma meeting Saturn and finally meeting Dr Vega Punk and trust me there's a lot more where that came from there is just a lot to this Arc man it's dense as [ __ ] so much lore dumped on us but the biggest thing was learning about Kuma this one Arc turned Kuma from a mystery into one of the most prolific characters to date when you look back at all his actions after reading the most current arcs you understand why he did what he did and what he was actually doing behind the scenes he's probably one of the best written characters in one piece and honestly this one page right here did it for me it's honestly the most cinematic page Oda has ever drawn by the way the first episode of aead was so perfectly directed I hope it keeps up with this quality cuz there is a lot of fighting in this Arc all right if you made it to the end of this terrible tearless video thank you this took way too long to edit 2 weeks actually and I know it doesn't scream quality trust me I'm amateurish at best but editing still takes a while you know hopefully you enjoyed this because I enjoy making these types of videos I just am glad I finally took the step to get into one piece both the anime and the manga it's interesting because for a long time I kept telling myself I'll get into it eventually but then the story just kept going and going and going and the sticks just kept building up and building up so one day I told myself if I was going to get into one piece I would catch up as quick as possible so that I could avoid unnecessary spoilers for myself making sure I read at least 30 chapters a day or so that I could catch up to the current chapter it has just been a wonderful experience and if you made it to the end of this video and still haven't watched one piece then my God you got spoiled to hell in back here I'm sorry but still go read and watch it because you will enjoy your time with it and I hope you enjoyed the time with this video cuz to be honest I'm already kind of second guessing some of my choices cuz I know some people are going to be really mad at my ranking nah [ __ ] it we all enjoy the rest of your day my nakamas I'll catch you later
