How Tough is a Solid Block of Tungsten?!?!

oh nice made it oh yeah nice oh swish oopsies that was close though welcome to demolition ranch on a recent off the ranch episode we showed you this this is a solid block of tungsten tungsten is a super super hard metal tungsten is 10 times harder than gold it's five times harder than tool steel and it's four times harder than titanium it's also heavier and denser than all of those it also has a much higher melting point than all of those tungsten is a crazy metal super strong we dropped it through it all kinds of stuff on a bunch of different things on off the ranch and you can see we have barely scratched it a couple things we did did scratch it but barely we didn't knock any of the corners or edges off of this thing it is really tough and really heavy this little block which is about four inches by four inches by four inches weighs like uh 40 something pounds it's really hard to pick up with one hand if you didn't watch the off the ranch video which you should i tried to pick it up with one hand and i can do it if i get it just all right like that but it is really heavy and after all the stuff we did to it it made me want to see what would happen if we shot it with guns this obviously this should do nothing at all but just want to start there as our control i did see a bunch of glitter fly off the table here's our hit not even scratched i pretty much actually just wiped off the hit when i rubbed it then okay let's move it on up we're gonna do nine millimeter next this is out of the little cmmg nine millimeter ar carbine actually i can't tell if that dented it or if it just left some lead on the surface yeah i think i just scraped it up yup that's just lead on the surface did not dent the tungsten at all wow okay let's go heavier now this is obviously gonna do nothing this is a 45 acp full metal jacket out of this desert eagle 1911. there's a chunk of the round yeah that's a piece of the bullet man no scratch it's it's rough but it's just pieces of the bullet stuck on the metal it is not denting it it is not scratching it ah this is crazy we're gonna go a little bit faster in speed now speed is how you beat hard metal 357 magnum out of the old colt python nothing man this thing's hard that's a hard block a tungsten so far i'm pretty sure nothing has even really scratched it at all so we're gonna go to a round that is much faster this is a 5.7 by 28 out of our 5 7 pistol here very fast very good at penetrating definitely not going to penetrate well but maybe we can scratch it with this that's all i'm really trying to do at this point is just scratch this block we have it on a table full of glitter from a different video and every time we hit it i see a little cloud of glitter shoot out it's pretty glorious that's the hit i think that's lead on the top again can i peel it off yup that's just peeling off still has not even touched it what is cool to see though all these lines right here and the table are where that thing is lined up so last time it was right here so that round is coming in here hitting and then exploding in all directions putting lines at our table you can see we have four lines here for the four rounds we have shot 22 is that one probably weaker we're gonna go bigger again i think we need to go ahead now and step it up to a rifle caliber because pistols they ain't gonna do it rifle time 762 by 39 you may be like matt that is a really gold magazine well yes it is this is the gold ak-47 and that didn't work because the safety was on all right we're gonna see what we can do here see if i can hit that little tiny block oh man wasn't ready for that to pull off but i think i still got it let's keep firing let's do a few more a lot of times we're hitting these targets they usually move and we can't like just keep shooting because it'll knock it off the table or whatever this one is staying in the exact same place as you can see by the line here i shot three rounds out of the ak and it's cutting this table in half because the block did not move at all right there just chopping our table dude nothing well maybe oh yeah that's totally so here and here looks like two of our hits and totally little dents there we probably made a one to two millimeter deep hole there so yeah we're probably not going through this today jeez that's crazy all right let's shoot something more powerful than a 762x39 let's do a 762 by 51 this is a 308 round out of this ar lots of penetrating power big long barrel see what she can do one more all right let's go check it out looks like one of my shots was high but it made me take out a corner there dang still low i mean that was that has a lot of damage compared to everything else the other one that hit flat nothing oh wait no they both hit there that's two of them so i was actually aiming right here because i thought this thing was way more off than it is let me shoot it again i'll aim at the top corner and we should hit a solid one that is two hits right there on the corner that's a hit now that we got her sighted in i mean that is the biggest dent we've seen so far but it is so small like a tiny tiny little dent i know you guys are sad to hear this but demolitia we're gonna have to get out the barrett 50 bmg out of the barrett going at that block oh we moved it it definitely jumped went about two feet back which everything else we've ever shot this usually goes way further than two feet back question is demolition did it did it or not where'd we hit oh is that it or is that one oh it's gotta be that one yeah that's our newest hit it actually looks about like the 308. weak very weak this is crazy this is way harder than everything we've ever had on this channel that's not that's what she's uh we were shooting regular full metal jacket now we're going to shoot a red and silver tip this is a a pit round armor penetrating incendiary tracer round out of the 50 bmg barrett m82 a1 this one should make a bigger hole but probably still a pretty tiny hole you see that flash that was cool a lot of times when you shoot the incendiary rounds at something they don't flash like that because they're not hitting a hard enough surface but that's a pretty hard surface so that flash was excellent and spun it around that is not the surface we were shooting at where is the surface we were shooting at oh wow all right that's a new record for sure look at that so it's black because that incendiary went off here so we had a big flash going not even warm not even warm okay we have one round that i think we'll do better these straight up black tips the really strong armor penetrating rounds black tips are just penetrators they don't flash they don't trace everything is made for getting through armor so let's shoot that also this is where it was obviously when it got hit by the 8-pit round and burned all this it is just chewing up our poor little table here all right let's let's do a clean side for this last shot you guys saw that obviously on the gopro shot uh i think we got a little bit of shrapnel there we had this thing i mean it was out of the dangers like three feet away and just shattered our little lens on the gopro eight can you fix that i don't know we may need to buy any gopro dang it actually i think i just get this glass out of here we're not gonna be waterproof anymore but i think it'll still work i got all the glass out it's even clearer than before this is gonna be great we should have done this years ago broken the glass on the new gopro the 50 bmg black tip this is an ap round armor penetrating has no junk like incendiary in there taking up space we are all about getting deep and penetrating hard if you know what i mean firing at the hard block of tungsten downrange oh yeah we lead rounds we were shooting i knew it was going to keep going so i wanted to keep going away from us so we had it at an angle like that so it came in went probably hit that mountain over there
