how to transfer video files from a usb flash drive directly to the ipad for reference purposes please take note of the following i'm using an ipad 7 with ipad os 14.6 and file app installed to transfer files from a usb flash drive to the ipad we will need a lightning to usb adapter next what we need are flash drives keep in mind however that not all flash drives work on this device for this demo i will be testing four different brands of flash drives that varies in capacity the flash drive that you are seeing right now is made by sandisk which has its own application and its own lightning port however for the sake of this demo i will use it as a regular flash drive and transfer files through apple's own file app now it's time to try them out i will start with a 2 gigabyte flash drive afterwards open the file application and on the left panel click or tap on the flash drives icon to access its contents now let's move on and try the 16 gigabyte flash drive [Music] as you can see this flash drive had an error so let's have a closer look this is the message that i saw after i plugged in the 16 gigabyte flash drive opening the file application obviously we cannot see the icon for the flash drive also now it's time to try the other 16 gigabyte flash drive that i have similar to the two gigabyte flash drive i tried earlier i don't seem to have any problem with this usb opening the file app i can see and access the files inside this 16 gigabyte flash drive now it's time to test the last one the 32 gigabyte flash drive made by sandisk after about 5 seconds the 32 gigabyte flash drive made by sandisk loaded up without any power issues now that everything is ready it's time to transfer files from the flash drive to the ipad [Music] using the file app navigate through the flash drive to find the files you want to transfer then press and hold on the file that you want to copy from the pop-up menu click the share option do not use copy on the next menu click save video to verify if the copy was successful let us open the photos app now depending on the size of the file you are trying to copy it may take some time before it appears on your library as you can see i have successfully copied one of the files from my flash drive to my photos library following the same procedure i will be copying the remaining two videos to my photos app again take note that i am using an entry level ipad 7 2019 model if you have an ipad pro you can simply copy and paste the video file through the file app on this demo you can see that a 519 megabytes mp4 video file took about 20 seconds before it was successfully copied to the photos app in conclusion it is possible to transfer any video files from a flash drive to the ipad through an apple lightning to usb adapter during my test i noticed that the two gigabyte flash drive doesn't have any issues regarding power but for flash drives with higher capacity i observed that the 16 gigabyte and the 32 gigabyte flash drives that doesn't have an led light doesn't seem to have any problem again thank you for watching this video please don't forget to click the like and subscribe button this has been harold and i'll see you on the next one you
