How to Pronounce Pokemon Names

[Music] hey guys to green 7 here and in this video I'm going to simply run through all the pokemons that are commonly mispronounced and tell you why you're dumb for mispronouncing them I'm just kidding loosen up be as chill as 10 carrot Hill is what I always say anyways I have no problem with people mispronouncing any English Pokemon names especially if you're a child or have some kind of reading disability but if you're an adult who claims to be a huge Pokemon fan there are a lot of Pokemon that you should at least know the pronunciations for because for the most part they make complete sense and follow the origin of the name it's fine to mispronounce them but when you incorrectly correct someone else it looks pretty stupid it's just good to know some of these pronunciations because they indicate your knowledge of what the Pokemon are named after and I just really like learning the name origins of Pokemon so please don't take it the wrong way if you mispronounce some or all of these Pokemon names but understand that once generation 5 came out Pokemon did release the official Pokemon pronunciations they can all be found in the pokedex 3d app the anime also started to follow the correct pronunciation with Pokemon that they even was pronounced in the past but even if you for some reason don't agree with this source a lot of these names have clear pronunciations and people just seem to not know how English works like when people mispronounce sceptile as sceptile or when they add random letters for no reason like saying milk tank when no tank has only one K and it's at the end you'll definitely learn some cool facts today just keep in mind that I'm going to sound a little passive-aggressive in this video but I'm not mad at all just passionate unless you pronounce sceptile sceptile I'm mad at you if you do that for each entry I will say the correct pronunciation first and then describe the mispronunciations that I've heard now let's start with PG on now I've heard people say fidgets and I totally understand the mindset behind it since it sounds like pidgin so I'll give a pass to anybody who pronounces it that way but now that you know the official pronunciation don't do it again it's Pidgeot eken I heard he can before it sounds weird right ooh it's not riot to the first part of its name comes from the Japanese word for thunder which is there's no excuse to pronounce the Rakata as rat attacked or rat attack you can't just add letters that's not how language works you just sound like you never actually played Pokemon for rent not fair we don't call Pidgey pigeons so call fir it's very bloody on apparently it's ledian not ledian ariados it's named after Ariadne so it's not pronounced Aria nose chin Chow not chin Chu or chin Chow and fog while Ampharos would be closer to its name origin and pier and Pharaohs it doesn't sound like an apparent Bell awesome there's a bell in there it's not just blossom that would be a terrible name oh wait mister even if you clearly read its name you would understand that it's not mystery Deus sometimes simply reading the name help unknown I've got many people trying to tell me that it's unknown if you're one of those people stop it's unknown just imagine there was a que there there's no dispute among people who have common sense or heard any official pronunciation of the Pokemon that it's because it slacks off I mean I used to call it flaking so Who am I to judge nincada I know it's based on a cicada but every official pronunciation is nincada sorry man and/or lady speaking ladies Ilham is a not illumise this is also an instance of a pokemon that shares its name in japanese over there it's pronounced Edo music Milotic like venus de milo a symbol of beauty not melodic beignet but it's clear when you realize that a lop is any breed of bunny that has floppy ears miss Maggie is not miss Maggie is or miss Mei Jia sir miss Maggie is I know magic the word but don't overthink it officially changed it but understand that every single origin of our cases name has Arcanist not ours muna like the moon's mana is an ugly name for such a pretty Pokemon its felton pronounced this way modern English wouldn't have it pronounced as sigilyph although if you pronounced it like that because you thought I had anything to do with the glyphs then maybe you're in the right direction cough
