[Music] what's up guys welcome back i figured i'd switch it up a little bit today and bring you with me to the store shout out to the cameraman getting the shoes all my sneaker heads know about these wegmans is by far one of my favorite places to shop not a sponsor by the way they have a great selection of steak and that happens to be what we're making today when you're shopping for steak you want to look at the marbling which are the white lines of fat that you see throughout the meat today we landed on a delicious bone-in rib eye that i'm about to show you how to prepare to perfection but before i do that please take a quick second to subscribe to the channel make sure to hit that bell and enable notifications as well alright enough run of my mouth time to get in the kitchen and make it happen here we have a one and a half inch thick prime bone in rib eye just a beautiful piece of meat here we have the bone in as you can see which is my wife's favorite this is one and a half inches thick so it's perfect for pan searing and finishing in the oven at the top here you have the rib eye cap and then the eye of ribeye down here is absolutely beautiful i like to season my steak on a plate that way it catches any excess seasoning and nothing goes to waste today you're going to need a meat thermometer to make sure that you cook this to perfection i have one linked in the description box below for you you're going to need a nice size spoon for basting we're going to be basting this delicious kerrygold butter it's grass-fed super good for you and delicious in flavor rosemary thyme and fresh garlic along with some pink himalayan sea salt some black pepper a little garlic and some onion powder also some avocado oil which has a really high smoke point and we'll be cooking it in our cast iron skillet today if you don't have a cast iron use a stainless steel or whatever you got something that's oven safe though the first step here is to make sure you allow your meat to come up to room temperature this is very important because it promotes even cooking you want your steak to be evenly cooked throughout we're also going to season it with salt about 30 to 40 minutes before we begin to cook it that way that salt has time to work its way into the meat and the meat can come up to room temperature season all sides including the fat cap with salt pepper garlic and onion powder if you do have a favorite steak rub feel free to use it here don't let me slow you down but this is what i like to use with my steak i like to keep it nice and simple along with the butter and the herbs is just the best way to cook steak in my opinion let me know in the comments how you do it so here we have it a nice coating of salt pepper garlic and onion powder [Music] always press the seasoning into your meat don't rub it that way it stays nice and even and then you can use the plate that caught all that excess seasoning to get the edges that way again nothing goes to waste repeat that same process on the other side this is a pretty big piece of meat so you know you want to be kind of heavy-handed on the seasoning looking good now we're going to preheat our oven to 400 degrees and get our skillet nice and hot when i say nice and hot i mean smoking hot we're gonna add our avocado oil which is a high smoke point cooking oil something like vegetable oil or canola oil will work as well make sure your skillet is nicely coated in that oil and then always lay the meat away from you and then we're going to press down to maximize surface area contact that's super important to develop a nice sear and a nice crust and crust absolutely equals flavor on steak so after about a minute and a half to two minutes per side you should be looking just like this jesus flip her over for another 60 seconds or so you know a minute to two minutes depending on your uh doneness preference make sure to sear that fat cap on the edges as well as you see me doing right here and then we're going to turn our heat down to medium low and add in our butter herbs and garlic and give this beautiful steak a nice basting i recommend crushing the garlic and leaving the skin on that prevents the garlic from burning it gives you the nice flavor of the garlic without the you know burnt flavor that you get if you throw it in there without the skin on allow that butter to melt grab a pot holder to make sure you don't burn your hand on the skillet and then tilt the skillet towards you and using your spoon just baste that herb infused butter on top of your bone-in rib eye steak [Music] this my friends is definitely food porn i think this counts as a money shot too you guys let me know in the comments what you think [Music] after about you know 30 to 45 seconds of basting we're gonna pop this steak in the 400 degree oven for about eight to ten minutes or until it reaches 125 to 130 degrees internal temperature again that really depends on how you like your steak i like mine between medium rare and medium i will uh add all of that information for you in the comments below here we are right at 125 which is perfect for me i'm gonna pull this out of the oven and out of the skillet the next most important step to cooking a steak is allowing it to rest for about eight to ten minutes before you slice into it that allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat if you slice it while it's piping hot all the juice is going to end up on your cutting board you're going to have a nice dry steak and you better not tell people that mr make it happen taught you how to make that dry steak cause i did not [Music] after the steak is adequately rested we're gonna slice it off the bone give the bone to the wife because that's her favorite part happy wife happy life [Music] this dow strong knife is making quick work of this bone-in rib eye you can get yours for 10 off using the code make it happen at checkout link below in this description box for that as well [Music] and then let's slice this up i like to make my slices nice and thick let me know in the comments how you like your steak done [Music] i like mine medium rare to medium [Music] this came out somewhere in between just perfectly seared beautifully cooked nice and fatty as a ribeye tends to be don't go get your cholesterol checked after this dinner quick little trademark money shot for you a little salt bae action and you know i gotta try this [Music] here we go oh man that is a perfectly cooked steak people you gotta try this recipe let me know what you think in the comments make sure you subscribe to the channel give me a thumbs up and as always thank you for your support [Music] you
