[Music] how to cook simple foods today we're gonna do a 7-up pancake so I'm excited about that because honestly I've never done one I've done pound cakes I just this is my first 7up pound cake but I thank you for joining me in States okay so for the ingredients we're gonna take out a couple bowls we have a couple bowls that we we got out our these are our tools we have our blender hand mixer because I'm not pulling out that stand mixer that's a lot of work we have our measuring spoon measuring little spoon scrape the sides and bowls we have a lemon squeezer a juicer lemon lime orange whatever you do and we have a zester because I'm going to be zesting the skin of a lemon and a lime the ingredients are going to be sugar lots of butter four pound cakes eggs and flour and 7up we have measuring cups last measuring cups and we have ham cake pans because I'm making two pound cakes since I'm making one I'm just gonna go ahead and make two so that's that for all that you need to get started with the exception of a baking soda powder I have to look that one up with the exception of baking soda I believe it is we're missing in a little salt stay tuned okay guys so I'm going to start the process we're gonna take three sticks of butter like I said I'm doing two cake so I'm doubling my recipe but one recipe calls for three sticks of butter three cups of sugar 3 cups of flour 5 eggs you got your lemons which I'm going to use lemon and lime you know you got your 7up soda but you start off always by creaming your butter and your sugar together so I'm going to start off by doing that okay getting all the butter then the sugar and I'm going to dice in this bowl is six sticks of butter 6 sticks of butter is in his home put them akin to the pancakes i'ma start creaming my butter I just creamed the butter guys I just cleaned the butter and now put 6 cups of sugar in this bowl and to this I'm going to cry okay you can see this is the butter and the sugar to this butter and sugar I'm going to add 10 eggs one at a time is going to be easier and it's easier to stir because right now my arm is hurting but I've been having I have a little tennis elbow going on although this is fluffy looking right now once I add the eggs it's going to be light and fluffy so this is stiff and fluffy but if the eggs will make it a lot smoother for me to mix but next comes your aids this is the second egg that I'm going to pour in I did put the first one in and with each egg that you pour in the batter is going to get the egg sugar and butter mixture is going to get easier and easier to be able to control this finally today is July the first already it is 151 in the afternoon when I'm doing this cake for a family member to my water miss a new leaf and shatters America money this cake and because of her I'm gonna do not 1 or 2 today I'm going to sell slices for these are the kind of cakes that are so expensive as much as as I love to give and share I'm going to sell them for two dollars a slice and I appreciate everybody for always you know for the people that do come to me and support me I do really greatly appreciate you it pushed me to do things behind beyond you know my comprehension I didn't believe that I should do half of what I'm doing now but because of people believing in me it got me to where I am now and I'm nowhere near where I wanna be but I'm definitely further than I ever was and I appreciate you guys but these cakes are very expensive to make I mean it's a pound of everything very expensive to make also I have to mention that your ingredients should all be one temperature every single one of them your eggs of course your flour and you serve any for that matter that your eggs milk butter everything even if you're going to make a sour cream anything you're going to use that is in a refrigerator make sure that is room temperature before you start to before you start your cake what I'm doing now is I just got finished mixing all the eggs with incorporated with the butter and the sugar I'm scraping around the bowls to make sure everything is evenly incorporated sorry did you hear that lightning thunder I just scraped a bowl to make sure there was nothing sucking a little lump that didn't get included I don't want anybody feeling left out in this baby hole right here just baby full of goodness deliciousness so after I do this I'm going to mix it again okay now I'm going to sift in three cups of flour I'm going to do a total of six cups of flour by three at a time I'm gonna sift it into a bowl to this flour sifted it all in and I'm going to add 2 T 2 teaspoons of baking soda once I'm done doing the flour this is my second round of 3 cups of flour so this is a total of 6 cups of flour that I'm sifting into a bowl because again the ingredients call for 6 cups per cake 3 cups of flour so I just soup it in 6 cups flour next I'm going to add the baking soda and it's a teaspoon of baking soda to bake cake so I'm going to do two teaspoons which is going to equal [Music] this way so that's one and there's two teaspoons of baking powder so two dry ingredients which are only the baking soda and three cups of the six cups of flour I want some intra- up rising flour I tried to find the cake flour by Swan in the box but the shot right that I went to unbelievably didn't have one box so I ended up buying self-rising Aunt Jemima flour so to the six cups of flour I added a tablespoon of baking soda I mean baking powder I'm sorry sophi just making one cake it's just 1/2 teaspoon I mean it's just 1 teaspoon I just cut a lemon and I put I used a whole lemon but it was a small lemon and I put the lemon juice into the mixture with the egg sugar and butter I'm going to add vanilla to this and I'm going to just a lemon in the line and also put that in here into this mixture when I exist allow me in the mind and he's dead in that cake Alban gonna taste the flavor throughout the pink give it a little mix now what I do is I of course always wash off the skin of anything that you're using and your anything that you have to put in your mouth so basically this is a zester and I'm going to zest lemon skin and this is why babies and gentlemen you have to wash your fruits on the outside thoroughly because this is something that's going into your mouth into your belly of goodness and pollutant states we want it to be clean so here's some lemon that is tit lemon skin here's the lime that i zest it's investing you wash the skin you watch these babies fall yes you do you watch them you dry them thank you you some think your existing them you're going to clean with them so here's the zest of lemon in line look ladies and gentlemen so then you're going to take this and mix this in as well and I'm also going to put some vanilla in here do I have the lemon extract because this is to better than one typically I would put a half a teaspoon of vanilla but today okay guys so I added the lemon juice the lemon zest the mind says so now I'm going to start to add the dry ingredients which is the flour I'm going to add a cup of flour and in between each cup of flour I'm going to add 1/3 cup of soda I'm going to alternate it flour soda flowers underground receta this is the first cup of flour the third cup of 7up and every day three times on alternative so after this I'm going flowers and at the very end rise of the mixing process I just now squeezed more lemon and more line I squeeze it into the cup with a squeezer and I'm going to add a little bit more just a little bit because the rest I'm going to save for the icing and 7up you know so they guys I'm putting the batter together I mean I'm putting the batter in us into different pound cake pans [Music] so anyway I'm putting the batter in the oven is nice and preheated like I said you're gonna bake it on 325 for about an hour 10 hour 15 minutes while that's in the oven I'm going to although it doesn't take any time to make the glaze I'm going to make the glaze while that's in the oven and I clean up the dishes but yes guys in a pan oh my goodness so Swedish Matthew mama okay so what I'm gonna do is smooth this out for to be leveled and equal as much as possible so I have two different pans that I'm going to put in the oven okay guys so I'll see you in about an hour and 20 minutes I'm putting in the kicks an oven I hope you can see them I'm putting them in side-by-side once you put these cakes in the oven do not under any circumstances unless your house is burning down open the oven you have to keep the oven closed the whole time if you want to watch it grow then you put the oven light on and you sit there and you gaze at it but do not under any circumstances openess oven once you close it you
