[Music] [Music] hey welcome back to so letís kitchen so yeah it's a new year 2017 yeah hope everybody had fun open party everybody got anything he wanted for the holidays but guess what it's over oh well it is it's over we did is redundant Lee survived the year 2016 on to doing better things in 2017 but that being said 7-up cake I got a lot requesting a 7-up cake and I chose it because input back fond memories I first made this cake when I was about 16 years old um a good friend of Mines who lived on my block a long time ago um so let me tell you what you need is a good cake I hope I still got it so it I made this cake now 16 in between my teenage years and now I might have made about three four more times after that the nun says I had my kids and since I've been an adult and so it's been about maybe 15 16 years as I made this cake so I do remember you need 5 eggs large eggs a room temperature you're going to need sugar of course 7up lemon / vanilla lemon juice 3 cups of all-purpose flour not self-rising or you could use on your favorite cake flour and here I had 2 teaspoons of baking powder and I had a teaspoon of regular old salt so what's oh shoot I need the most important thing I got very sick somebody so dirty that's for you yes I know right I forget I am every time I do a video I try to be perfect and have everything but guess what is real life so my mind you need three sticks a room temperature unsalted butter and I got that right here having a bland um the bubbles fashion I'm not going to stick this in here it is better out all night you guys but when I say it's room temperature it may be a little bit past room temperature hmm but it is room temperature everything you want everything in room temperature even your own soda don't refrigerate it you only use one cup of soda in this recipe that so go ahead drink or some ice yeah so how was your guys holiday who everybody had fun I had a ball you know um I got never blog that's coming up I actually went and met one of my fans I guess I'm gonna call the famous subscribers I'll consider myself a star anything but they say fan so I miss a fan I'll respect their um she was wonderful I met her here at the Union Station while I live it was fun and I've loved it so that's going to be coming up soon okay so so these three sticks of softened room temperature unsalted butter we're gonna add let me beat each other here three cups let's show that he has a pound cake and it takes a lots of sugar so it's one about three cups of sugar and you're going to fill it to the room what brand hi I remember the commercial holidays coffee commercial look before you say honey oh I'm confused I'm with the three cups of flour oh and you know it would not be me if I don't make this a little bit of mess I don't want to overdo it because I want um when you're baking measurements is precise you have to be good I don't want to over big overdo it and yes and I and this time this is one recipe when I can't say it is too much sugar for you use less don't go less use exactly three cups of sugar I tried to customer in my pancakes because my sister she's a diabetic it agrees with her but it doesn't agree with you have to use those because the sugar movement and poundcake so the counter is sick and we're on that disco here I want this to incorporate and combine I want to get that real fluffy monkey feeling I started out Lobos I wanted to sugar the UM so now that I'm gonna move it up some speed what's that feed everything I showed him in the back if you got you gotta manage between four okay what is being fun and you also use a hand mixer I just choose not to own your certain recipes I just as a hand mixer but I think overall the any type of electron electric mixer it always gotta be KitchenAid I just prefer KitchenAid products and they got a lot cheaper ahead and mix this outfit if you use the concern I don't know I don't want no blood in my cake mix my butter sugar drink you can't do that I'm gonna cut it down cut it all and pull it down some because you know you want to scrape down your sides I want everything just to be just right so I'm straight down my size and this I can still feel the sugar in it you can hear so I want to really make that fluffy before I add my eggs and you know straight to side you know straight the battle but sometimes in these kitchen aids the bottom don't really get on incorporated you want that this is going to take when you fluffing in the butter and the sugar together about good five or six minutes to do this so I'm opening on high automatically without over mixing it hey see this i'ma make a good lady for this is a powdered sugar and I want my suspect you want the egg assume the role really really come together and it's almost kinda like a white colors if you think of the butter the fellow but when you combine the sugar with it it gets that more natural look and the stripper smell gold combined together that's his weakness I'm gonna stop it that's good ready and see the color hi change color but you can see how fluffy it is so at this point I'm on push it down to damage oh you yeah man I don't like you can eat that but almost like a whipped cream it's okay this recipe calls for fine large eggs at room temperature um usually I have them in a bowl already crack but I didn't do that today so I'm gonna be where eggshell they might get eggshells in household but I'm trying to oh I'm one at a time one is I always want to incorporate one at a time because I wanna choose you see how quickly that eggs change that subset that um the texture the egg change the texture and one make sure is really in there is on low and egg number two warning I better get lipnick's and I speed it up a little bit I'll cut my second of two turn it back down again Japan egg green and make sure you have large eggs people oh okay you know do egg for [Music] they're gonna get that in there it's like an egg five I'm just gonna do that I'm gonna go hit it on the cities I'm a little [Music] and then I'm going to cut it all and I just want to push it everything down and to the bone just wipe it's a five egg in it that's it again this and it still so nice and fluffy and that's what cuz fluffiness neck airiness and airiness make a light and tender cake make it soft you know with my pound cakes I normally tell you guys thank you so much other pound cake recipe I put it up on little box of instant vanilla pudding um with this recipe I'm not doing that I want to stick to the traditional way that I learned and make this cake at home that class LaBrie slixa but I think the butter makes this fall and I think something about that i'm nimah juice and the mimesis Technica soul Kermit plans and enticed an iceberg boy all I bethought myself you know so my vinegar I was an 8 foot student at home and I'm trying to think of Miss Cooke that was her name she was my home X teacher and she was wonderful and I loved her and um Oh pure vanilla pure vanilla when you're baking you want that but you know what I'm gonna show you guys this is I don't have the metal spoon but I like vanilla I'm here's one two teaspoons of vanilla in this um i'ma show you how to make homemade vanilla I haven't did it in a long time because now when I go buy that on McCormick I'm for vanilla almost ten dollars and yes I'm cheap and honest so I'm gonna buy it so I want my big good system out great but I'm gonna go back to making my own vanilla smell wonderful doughnut that's good so lemon something about the limit it does something to this 7up it brings out the flavor the texture and 7up um so I have a lemon zest right here not just not doing the white pot but the zest of one lemon a large lemon a medium lemon this is that's the one minute you want to put it here to me it just brings out the flavor this cake and you're not and you can't go wrong doing this stop it appetizer I'm just going to the zester this one women don't cushion hand you go pushes this is that don't try to get the white part is bitter want to make sure you get that them oh I think I'm old limit a little one those fat amiss this is happening she was all over the freighter okay and through this I'm going to add one that get it open you know I could use the fresh lemon juice where's the Stoke right now open it up for me on camera hope I never see the lemon zest you guys is in there why I had the strength to do that mmm okay once he spoon lemon juice that's all I'm giving it one teaspoon of lemon juice are we gonna stir man who decided to use the fresh women catching them in half and use one half of the limit the squeeze in there I could have did it and it's just oh my god snow so amazing okay you gotta be for me no I can't step on your self again let's go back in here three cups of all-purpose flour two teaspoons of baking powder one teaspoon of salt this is my sister I need a new one the short they had it and I been through some stuff I'm gonna warm up anymore okay we're just gonna do like this if you got a spoon available I did have a spoon available but you're not good to get all the clumps out if you want to use cake flour you can i'll cake flours kind of hot and cake flour is nothing but flatter sift it about a million times to make it as fine as thin as you could get it and you can do this with this the fat girl let me get lazy shake it like that take a chicken let go of all my second here we go your kids is going to love the same okay and the thing about is that I've had a two-liter 7up I drunk it did yes I did it I've done because I have had a son a long time and I was thirsty and I drunk it can so see this I need except you need 1 cup of 7up no more so I got this is a 2 cup measuring cup you know it uses so let me just let it sizzle down so I want to get my imaginary precise I mean that a sizzle down and give you one cup can I ever know these people I'm taking a rest and you don't go to ask for it I'll put that on ice when I finish ok we don't know I can't never had this cake before so they're really gonna be try the first time I'm gonna go use half half go in half that time I'm gonna do half the Senate and oh Jesus but that did don't do that yes I'll rock low slow alone I think it and I know this and you want to go in if you guys know straight down your side one that's why we can try to get up anything on the side get that flour in here at the bottom you know okay I'm gonna go in with that blast of the sour and again king of math and outside I'll slow then get that mixed up I'm Paul there the rest of my seven up walk up with seven up you guys that's all the same I want to be light and fluffy you don't want to mix it a few minutes I know two three minutes you wanna let us see the tree the changing party everybody big but get trust me it's gonna get cleaned up for that over there in church not in the trash and um the same okay this one in my bag you don't have to be funny if it tastes good oh yeah that's good okay take my spatulas and I'm cool you see the texture the creaminess you see how creamy that is that's what you guys want maybe that creamy texture right there this is a very large cake it tooks three cups of flour so if you have a good bunt pan but I do not but I have an angel on food cake pan and I guess we'll all my pound cakes basic all my pound cake recipe takes three cups of flour and this is going to bring it right to the top so let me grease the flour this and I get back with you guys okay I'm pulling in my cake I flour if you guys have an arm joy you're baking I think that's what it's called the arm flowers regular guys I don't have any and if I did I really like the flour butter and flour my own my stuff I don't know what let's see you can see as I said this pan this is angel food cake pan so if you have a real good good bud pain that's really um high that can send on mommy your way I'm sorry on your side shirt you guys I want to get all my frosting my ice my batter hmm when it's get it all in there and you see how much room I still have that definite pan and trusted believe this three this batter this batter tastes so good it's going to on fill this cake thing up that's why I love this pan that's my go-to pain but something like some with a little design this doesn't give us a design the way to bunt pain does but you got a large cake like this we only want to eat it anyway so okay now I'm going to do we go Oh pre-heat your oven at 325 sorry guys 325 for this cake from this one like this I guess I'm the air bubbles out this one makes us even and it's 29 watch I places an others I left this cake cook for 90 minutes which is an hour 30 minutes but depends on your oven high cooks at an hour and 15 minutes you want to do the toothpick check and see if it is ready but I'm three twenty five nine minutes micro okay I'm about to go in here it's been about an hour so and it smells delicious and I believe this is really really good oh yeah it is this came out perfect you want to woo okay not perfect take a look at that I'm going to get my cake rack out of here and hopefully I can actually make this come out and then once this come out the out it's going to sit for this good hour before you put a glaze I bet you could do this cake without a glaze so with the glaze I prefer the glaze and so what I'm going to do is that I'm a flipping I hope you come out fire and let it sit on this cake wrap for about an hour give me a second let me get another knife make it this like what in the boxing ring look good yeah everybody everybody's come from everywhere talk about what's that see male I like I got a 7-up kickin oven I just want to make sure you know it look loose let's do it style you know hey I'm gonna flip it onto my rack dear oh this is like a disaster waiting to happen yeah that's right for me ah see I'll tell you pray for me so I is really calling me but this short write about man okay I wanted to go into my rap I got it so I'm gonna let that sit is this wrong no so this is gonna say it's gonna cool and I'm getting to come off here and let it sit for hours up oh what's that almost always has a reaction oh please come out perfect oops teddies oh but what's this I don't know it came out perfect who watch me because I'm the type of person who can't leave well enough alone and I want the top part the pretty part to be shown so I did it ha had two rocks courtesy to Shannon Wallace thank you oh that is perfect honey I'm gonna let that pancakes it for our it's a pound cake you have this at least an hour way to get is nice thickness and everything then we'll come back and I'll put some limit glaze on here we defecate today okay it's been an hour I took the cake out it's been sitting for all hour and its still nice and song and smell good so I'm going to take some powdered sugar this is like a one usable I just use what I saw but I grabbed um I'm just a little bit of milk you could use water or you could use um heavy cream I'm going like a two teaspoons of milk they have a mind and I'm just going to stare now long with this I want that let me taste I'm going to put about a teaspoon of lemon I strike and I use milk that I want that thickness of it so when I pour across my cake you guys really thick I'm trying to stir it a lot now I'm trying not to make a mess cuz you know I'm famous for that right pie smells so good and lemony and it's nice and stick so I say I guess about two tablespoons of milk and 1 teaspoon of coz of lemon II got the lumps and I won't take the one side guy using milk it doesn't really give it that glaze it gives it that like a lot of frost and look and that's how I was going for if you wanted more the glazed look most definitely use some water because I make a lot thinner and you'll get that glazed look but I didn't want a glaze so I wanted more of a melted frosting vanilla frosting more so I use milk but I know what the odds right is right I try to get the lumps out what isn't working and it smelled it hmm you taste it okay you know what I want to do with this give me a few seconds cuz I should have done I don't get a pastry bag and if you guys have a pastry bag you don't have to use it but I want you okay so the physical system that I want if you wanted much thinner you can I'm trying to get all the lumps out again if you want it more like a like a place use water I didn't want that I wanted more like a another frosting so I'm gonna put mines it's one of my pastry bags and touch the bottom right there I'm gonna pull this into my pastry bag oh man it should be sitting inside a cup that way I love the name it I'm going to use this get it all in there it's kind of thick that's the way I want it even using this if you want a little bit thinner just adding a bit more milk but this what I want it I'm good with this put that right there I use about two cups of powdered sugar I think that's enough for me I'm just pushing the - so imma cut the tip again this is just milk powdered sugar and some lemon on that finish I'm a right-handed hangover let me see that to do with my MFA now I cut the tip circumcisions no brain is seriously and I'm just going to do it like this you guys and squeeze and this is gonna be my place for my cake so only is two cups of powdered sugar in this and this is my 7-up cake I'm gonna pick this recipe on that I was like hey that's my older son honking me a slice of that I want to put this recipe on my arm description I'm gonna get my son let me do it it is that he be one they added it so quick and he don't want to do the recipe I know a lot of you guys he want my recipe so yeah again I only use 2 cups of powdered sugar this all the glaze I won on it trying to do it to the very end so what do you
