How to Install a Drip Cap to the Door Unit

to ensure that water is properly channeled away from the unit you'll need to apply a drip cap at the head or top of the unit now each wall is different and may require small modifications from what we're showing here but the bottom line is to create a lapped application which will not allow water to creep into the house pull the siding back enough to allow the drip cap to fit behind it apply sealant at the point where the unit meets the house and I'm a lead edge of the door frame install the drip cap under the siding and over the top of the unit if you're using a nail fin or brick mold screw every 12 inches on center this will secure the unit tightly to the face of the wall
