HOW TO EXPLORE FRASER ISLAND | CAMPING | RESORTS | 4X4 | HIGHLIGHTS

so we've just played it over to Fraser well I say your mother wants the four episodes from Fraser this one is the full thing all put together so it's about 28 minutes all four episodes explore and Fraser Island you know awesome spot look at it I'll be tired of fighter this is that camp so I had a win you creek bar [Music] so it just made it over to Fraser the ferry ride over was fantastic it's only 45 minutes out of River heads from Harvey Bay and it's all flat water because it's part of the great sandy straight so you don't have to worry about getting seasick Davis I'm pretty bad too but after you wrong today three nights in the resort with Huron beach resorts gonna be fantastic show you a few hotspots are in there and then we're gonna swag around the island go all out at the top of the Cape and then spend a lot of time on the western side northwestern side of Fraser there's a lot of cool creeks and remote camping so pretty keen as soon as eating the Kingfisher by it's all bitumen there in that area and the resorts so you can stop in there check out are the pools the restaurants and have a look around if you're not staying there and just we grab the coffee and chilled out by the pool for a bit and now just there's a general store there and all Drive higher and a few other things and now just hit the sandy track on the way across to your own resort and we're gonna bypass we're gonna stop in and lake mckenzie on the way so it saves us the danger about you wrong first stop what you do is a pull up the tires down engage four-wheel drive just an ARB tide of flavor easy to use quick and fast I dropped mine down anywhere between 15 and 20 pound usually I'll just drop them straight to 16 and that's good enough for the whole time you can go to end around 12 if you get some really soft stuff and he gets stuck but 16 works for me happy days and it saves excess erosion and damage to the tracks too so you're not having wheel spin you're not struggling not destroying the tracks everyone else so we'll run through a few tips and tricks for Beach driving and for Frazer while we're here we haven't been to Frazer for like eight years so there's going to be a lot that's changed and a lot we haven't seen so give me good fun give back a bit of a drive and see if we can't get stuck show you how to save ourselves it's gonna be fun today so we thought we'd hit lake mackenzie first and check it out and then on to your own beach resort so we're very excited to have her at a pub and the kids are pumped to have their own beds in a bedroom and a flushing toilet so bring it on fraser island [Music] so check this out where you're on beach resort this is where miss time we've got a two-bedroom apartment come outside got wicked views over the beach the pool yeah unfortunately today the way this has a bit of a sad turn but hey that's just a no-good point about starting the resort you've got somewhere highway if you get bad weather but check this out normally it's just been epic views out here to the beach there's been whales playing around you can see everyone down in the pool it's just a fantastic spot now a few more of the facilities around knew wrong I've got a restaurant down here without reception so it's buffet breakfast lunch and dinner which is cool you've got a bakery down there for something different there's also a general store you can top up on fuel and the beach bar is just 50 meters away so if you're keen to kick on and now I never be able to backpackers it's always party central over there a good thing about your own resort is its central location so we're on the eastern side of the island but you're right smack bang in the middle so it's a perfect spot two day trip and hit a lot of that micronic hotspots around fraser like eli creek lake mckenzie the maheno wreck champagne pools all that sort of thing so we'll show a few of those day trips and some footage of them and we're just having a bloody good time here and enjoying it we're normally live in our Caribbean so to have a separate bedroom for us and the kids is fantastic and they love it as well have a flushing forward so check it out Iran Beach Resort it's a good spot to explore fraser so we're off today up to one of phrases iconic locations it's called eli creek and are not far away also is the maheno wreck which is that an old shipwreck of our hospital ship from back in the day and elo Creek pumps out some ridiculous amount of fresh water from the underground reservoir on the Fraser and now you can just walk up the creek and then float back you see a lot of people they set up for they put a few tins pick the Barbie out and just chill out it keeps players nice and shallow refreshing and just a beautiful spot so we'll show you that one and show the old wreck and then hopefully we're going to search for air Fraser [Music] all right so we're here and I'm doing the air freighter flight I'm actually super nervous check it out hey we gonna get on hey y'all might thanks Justin I'm Harry nice to meet you bye no drama where on my pocket [Music] [Music] you [Music] the hug was this place this is call Fraser Coast RV park we're pretty bloody lucky because it hasn't even opened yet launches in about a week or so seventy-five acres of bush camping only five minutes from River heads where the ferry takes you to Fraser on so 15 minutes the other way you'll find Harvey Bay where you could stock up on everything get ready for your trip to Fraser vfc will leave Scholz or left all the good stuff ah and then this place fantastic twenty bucks in the light unpowered self-contained camping bush camping is bush walks around the place there's fire pits high there's water available up the front great people who run the place so she's a lovely lady and just a perfect location when you're traveling through don't worry about Harvey Bay come and stay out here check out Fraser Coast Charlie five because the kids will love it they can run around kind of know anyone just kangaroos hopping around there's birds and bloody wrap it to them in and it's just a really good spot so we like it we're gonna leave you our been here for a couple of weeks while we going explore Fraser in the floor be it's gonna be good fun so check it out Fraser Coast RV park pretty cool [Music] most of the beasts driving around Fraser is pretty easy it's all bubbly so you can see what's poppin so I'm gonna give you a hot tip about packing your preach to go away so you got to make sure you hit a place called champagne pools it's right near Orchid Beach it is fantastic definitely recommend going on low tide with little ones because you don't get those massive waves so cool it's got an Indian head of one side and then water point and walk it on the other big stretches of beach and then there's this rocky outcrop that just like a lagoon and I don't know the waves come over and it's all bubbly so you can see why it's called champagne pools so this is our first campsite on our Fraser trip we have just spent four days at you're wrong I'll actually a few more because the weather got pretty bad so he toughed it out there which was good because it was absolutely torrential rain but this one here this is called a mile away at the back here so there's a camping zone just after orchid Beach that runs along the whole stretch of the bay and you can choose from anywhere you want you just book the zone so it's 2624 a family check it out pretty much absolute beachfront just off the back of the June and the good thing is we're just sort of tucked away so we're out of the wind a bit pull up on the spot I'm gonna get up now or show ya set up these swags they've been in those cargo bags up the top there for like four five days of torrential rain so we'll be able to see just how dry they are after living in those on the roof so four days of torrential rain they've been up here I'll just pull them out and they are pretty much bone-dry a couple of drips of water from where I cracked the top of the swag bag bloody good thing so pass these down trip the other one in get them set up [Music] so I'm gonna give you a hot tip about packing your fridge to go away if you're anything like us you probably want to eat really well when you can't bin just makes life easy and it's more enjoyable plots and meat snacks chicken bloody bacon all that sort of stuff so what we've done we've got a sixty liter fridge right so when you go an away for a couple of weeks and you haven't got a freezer well it's no real drama because all you do is just cryovac your stuff so when we got to Harvey Bay all I did was chuck it into Google cryovac meets hardy Bay and a place come up come up and called up for one good meats so we dropped in there and you don't have to pay any extra you just give him an order and then just come back an hour or so later and it's all packed up really go for that so so a few good reasons why cryovac and it's good well one it makes stuff last off it cuz it sucks all the air out of it - you can do it - anything and three makes you preach so much easy to pack because it's all so bloody slightly you know I mean also small you've got chicken wings other snags but steaks of a bacon butt chicken breast good luck the years you just tuck it all in and it doesn't it's not gonna leak so you don't have with meat juice all three three and you load it up I've got about two weeks worth of meat just in one sort of fridge and we can eat well we can be happy you can enjoy our camping trip so good tips what's going on here we love our coffee and it's still so important for me to have my so got one of these stoked with espresso there heat easy to you good thing I'm going to show you how it sounds but basically the water and coffee in here what story it was that diesel and unleaded at a few spots around the island sodium and red frogs Euron beach resort where we go cathedrals i think don davara and we just got to walk the creature we feel back then but 100 bucks probably 42 liters of diesel so I think that was about $2 35 or something so it is expensive if you go long range tank fill up Barbie Bay and maybe the facilities are here in all those stores to sell grove as well it's around here 90 bucks a cup for can't be but that's all in taxi so most of the beach driving around Frazer is pretty easy there's only a couple of notorious sections you just got to be careful when you hit up one is we're just coming up to now it's pulled down south and the gala rocks spilt weird with a gene okay but I'm pretty sure it's pronounced yeah but anyway so you can go in the beach because the rocks are so today pretty darling through there at certain times at the moment it's not too bad but it is one of the more challenging tracks on Fraser and you only find it if you had nothing to see the coat so we'll go through it now [Music] so everyone carries recovery boards or tracks from their roofs it's one of the most common bits of recovery gear we see around the country and it's a good thing because if you let your missus drive up the beach like I do you only need to rip them off the roof and out back so you get two in each pack and assimilations as well so if you're in some soft sand or mud or something you can attach these hoist bit by these leashes to the side of them and then once you actually done the recovery you will still be able to see them you can just drag them out by the leash now there's two different ends there's the traction end which is the leading edge which is shove under your tire and the other ends and purposeful shovels so you can dig you out the sand or mud or snow whatever you want you can use this end right so that these nodules are made of a different actual material than the rest of the board so they're more durable net more resistant to wheel spin and stuff which is good so they stack really low so they can low-profile I'll show you I've got four rows on the side of my car and it's still a good bow profile let's go and check it out I'll show you what they look like and they are going rhino-rack possible alright so here's the mounting rack or more on Iraq trotty platform easy fit you just cut a couple extra bolts in top there and it sits on the side on biz an angled so this is easy as mile it up stack them up wonderful so once you've stacked them up on the platform you've got these little handles here that down on the pins so one two three all you do is push mods then you can twist the end here to lock them may want to come off so that's what retains the board's up there it's that easy enough just to twist an elbow I push the button take them out good thing they live up there out of the way and then I still get the full use of my trading platform where I'm gonna mount me swags and dagger back it's like being back in Wi you've got the Sun going down do you guys are part of the ecosystem on Fraser Island rush the tracks on fries out or one line for you guys later you can feel innovation so we've made it up to sandy cape and we're camping in a place called Kerry so there's a zone up here where you've got the choice of two campsites one on the eastern side and one if you come up around the top there's this other one over here which is a bit more protected from the more the southeast to the prevailing wind so for some spot look at this look how flat it is on the other side it's roughest guts here cruise along pretty much beachfront camping just like we were last night New York this fantastic come check this out Suns going there just filtering down through the trees their swags are like right on the front of a journey here dingos walking past on the beach okay pretty cool sunset on Fraser Island up at Sandy Cove hey doesn't get much better than this [Music] so a good thing to carry with you when you go to Fraser it's a cast net and look at this egg with the bait here on a little a goon we're up at scene decode just walk around throw the net a few times and then the kids have fun now pack boy you can put these you could if he can keep them live but if you can just put them in some bags check them in your bridge and bloody completo you're safe here we got a better one look at this you can pin that out in the surf Hey that's like a Julie lollipop that's unreal anyway Priya Carsten if you can feel injury kids love it good right dingoes are part of the ecosystem on Fraser Island so you've pretty much guaranteed to see one so always make sure to be dingoes safe always stay very close to your children don't walk alone walking and do not run or feed anything goes but if you want any more information pick up one of these before you hit the island so most of the tracks on Fraser are all one line sometimes it's in one-way loops but keep an eye out for oncoming traffic it does get pretty busy it's always handy to have a VHF in your car so you can talk to our travelers but there's plenty of other pull off bays on the one line track so just keep an eye out give way to the bigger ones coming at you and the tour buses and stuff then I'm gonna beach drive and etiquette look after each other and you want every road rage [Music] so how good's this place this is called with Thumba on the western side of the island so I think a lot of people just day trip here but we're gonna stay the night it's very nice it's like being back in Wi you've got the Sun going down over the water yeah today is perfect there's no wing there's nearly five o'clock in the ho yeah bloody kids are swimming nude down the water still walked over the bank there before a couple of brim flatted Hey what more can you ask for perfect spot perfect weather good fishing and then just this hey watch this go down if you get the chance when you're on Fraser head over to a Thumba camp check out this spend the day swim it's like the perfect kid-friendly swimming spot and I'll tell you what probably topping the list on phaser for us at the moment but we've still got a few days to go so hey I think there's a couple more places on the west coast and why it's just people keep this at the post but see what happens life is good Northumberland Fraser on a couple of camping tips for you we've bought away these two items with this the brand is companion this one here is a 1.5 liter kettle and as you can see really good space-saving oh good this one here is your dishes and it's got a rack here as well but you can also do your dishes in it this one here we use it's a bit of a multi-purpose what you'll write up it goes in some holes heaps of water for doing dishes we actually stand the kids up in this too to give them their bath at night so that's heaps handy as well yeah check them out where can you get them you can purchase them at caravan RV camping they're about 50 bucks each but well worth every cent do awesome yeah sorry stack away in the van we use them in there as well and then just pop them in our storage tub down here when we come away camp a lot good tips are good what are you asking kids you're welcome yeah alright check these out for to cure these away to Fraser where this just is another meal option called warmer on the run good thing because phrases are massive all them we've been out exploring and fishing and all that in a few days when we're not real keen on cooking up a big fee but when you're back to km say these things from campus pantry they're made by a bug called AJ Danny Tazi and I'll tell you what they're simple they're easy they're tasty and they fill you up a so they're fantastic option for if you're gonna like camping hiking fishing whatever all you have to do is our boil some water and Chuck the water in there so 300 mils of water in the main meals at 120 mils of water in the footings so there's a couple of options for desserts and it's like 10 or more options for meals as vegetarian ones as well but we got the top 5 pack so the most popular ones and fire yeah I mean real light so me and back I've been chowing down honey one hot tip for you is don't put too much water in we end up know you should read the instructions baby anyway check it out keep his patron meals there good thing this is that camp saw it had a we knew Creek just put it on me phantom we're gonna get fishing say how long is that taking us back an hour yeah all right so we've just come across barley Road which is not far from cathedrals eastern side of the island the Surfside we've come to a place called the wicked Creek so I'll tell you what it's like the drive it's not a tough job it's just time to why I didn't get catholics 16 from the turnoff but one tip and we've got told this before here and make sure you try and hit if you want to come and camp here hidden up outside because I wanna show you now I get a girl Russell Creek so if you hit this at high tide but we gotta really struggle we to scout through again pretty much water in here but big hearts hard and I reckon one trouble get through it check this out once we come up over the hill here oh my gosh shot that is just itself that actually are you elixir legends camp on the beach yeah so we'll set out in farthest part of the beach [Music] this is our campsite had a winner Creek fire out my well I thought where Thumba was buddy good you should check this place out so set up here like this pretty cool I know if you look over the back here which I'll show you a bit of footage of there's like a win your Creek which is a freshwater Creek that runs in from out of the hills up here somewhere come there comes out the beachfront here and then you turn around here and look what we got we're actually camping on the beach absolute beachfront it's on the western side of Frazer so most of the wind comes over the top you got flat water out the front there it's just perfect for kids fresh water one side saltwater the other there's another campsite a bit further down which is pretty popular right this is spooky hey so we've spent a few nights here like I said I didn't think we'd beat with umber and sandy Cape but it just keeps getting better I win you Creek get top of the list night Hey [Music] yeah it's called a sky rigger or C Elsa just put it on me phantom we're going to go fishing all you got to do put their lawn in here clamp it up I can fly it out control Fortuna Milan mackerel whatever or can get to where I want to go yank on the rod and she'll drop the bait outside pretty cool for us now I'll take this one our travels bit heaps of times we've been cruising around and we can see fish that are just too far away to hit with a cast not anymore I'll get mrs. on the rod fly this bad boy out there hey I'll get one of the young kids under the rod let's do it okay there we go it's holding that up my goggles put the rod on break through I'm gonna take you down yeah I took out a plea [Music] no I do that snake fish there [Music] [Music] how good's that that's your first backdrop with the scoring up couldn't see any actually out there so we just dropped it out back about 140 Raiders and then just put the rail or free spool and look at that little shock I never know what you're gonna catch something touch the next song it's a macro or chair or a big tile or something but anyway gonna be a fun night good neighbor cos that power the Pedro [Music] someone beside this mornin I mean this is a last day on Fraser who spent the last few nights in this epic paradise if you'd wanna call it call a win your Creek and now we have to go home today so came fresh air but anyway I hope you got some good info out of this like all we got to do today is head back down to was kingfisher bay get the ferry back to river heads in Harvey bud and that's a trip done but we've shown you a few ways to do it so what have we done we stayed at your own resort so we showed you that a great place to base yourself and explore if you don't have camping gearing and your own self sustained sort of setup and then we've double swagged around the oil to some of the more remote locations especially up the sandy cape on this western side here so just dead set beautiful so mate and I don't know what to say Fraser has just blown our minds it has been so absolutely stunning stunning plate the most pure white sand amazing beaches fantastic water temp Oh so anyway coming I'll just show you a last setup come through it for a walk through here it's been around this is what we camped on so we get to look at this every morning or all day then we spin around for the double swags over here these are AR b-squad own double swags they've been fits there we've done a few trips away from the van and these have been by far the best option it's easy dudes heaps easy to set up with three kids and plenty of room the kids are slept in one we've slept in the other it's been awesome mate with warm we're comfy you know you get good sleep so everyone's happy come on the roof good thing yeah and then cast it up with the awning and a couple chairs out that's us how simple is that you can live like this it's just insanely simple if easy all right if you want to find out more info
