so so probably the three most important aspects of nicole and i living off the grid are shelter water and food we love to cook and getting off the food grid by growing foraging and catching a hundred percent of our own food is our passion since we prepare every meal our knives our most beloved and used tool in the kitchen the garden and the ocean we just received our first kamikoto khan peki knife set which includes three knives a seven inch nakiri vegetable knife an eight and a half inch slicing knife and a five inch utility knife each kamikoto knife is made with japanese honshu steel each knife is individually inspected and goes through a 19 step process and is used by michelin star chefs all over the world there's also a lifetime guarantee and the ash wood box that comes in makes a great gift nicole and i love our knives be razor sharp so we also received the toishi wet stone which has a 1000 grit side and a 3000 grit side for getting that traditional and high quality edge on our knives foreign please check out the link below in our video description for a nice discount if you'd like to check out and order the same knives and white stone we're using uh so so well are one of those for me sure you know you see like um you see like cool guys like james dean and the beatles like smoking just chilling for me it's like it's the same amount of cool but it's are they good hell yeah okay um can you see how we find the ones that are black on black yeah so it's black on black purple and purple super rich in antioxidants and phytonutrients well this is my tongue purple for sure two bites purple tank so i made this from scratch how does it taste smells delicious well you like it it tastes like real italian food that tastes amazing so smell good he wants some for sure how is it it's good i like it a lot i think it needs more of that delicious tomato sauce stuff i can put it in a little bowl and you can dip it that's good no it's really good i love the i love charred vegetables so when i took a bite he went like this you're so cute thank you babe sure ah a big test oh it holds the 210 pound man these are wispy bundles um we use them to help us start the fire in the morning kind of like a little kindling bundle or whatever yeah we just throw one and i mean it's amazing they're super dry i mean look how thin it is so it lights really fast and it kind of helps get the fire going yeah you're like a squirrel putting away all of its acorns instead of acorns it's wispy bundles yeah well these are really nice and i've over the years this is my third year doing it and i've this technique has worked the best so last year or the first year i just threw them in there and it was a hot mess and then last year i would wrap them but i would tuck the like i would wrap a like a a whispy around it and then they would just pop open so this year i'm using twine and it looks really nice very orderly and they won't pop open so stay so so so um good height so um so uh uh foreign here puma you cut it you do it i'm done come on uh here so fortunate uh it fits hey good job babe well i have to cover it up i know the filler gaps it's like a little house that's your new house that's the birthing chamber i can't believe somebody would say that no it's not the birthing chamber it's ridiculous that's how it sounds every time no i'm just kidding so the thing about the birthing chamber is that you have to stay there from month five on one over finish door what do you think oh i got can i paint a blue you can do it you can just get it you can do whatever you want no i think this will look good stained or if we take the the torch and show sookie bonnet but how does that open he likes it wanna hand this board to me for the final hat channel or ridge cap whatever does that look from your angle there it looks good do you want it to be level or match up with the other one uh oh hey the test what do you think it looks like it's on fire do we need a chimney or is it going to be good with all the gaps i left no i think it looks fine cool let's see more smoky in there give it a second why don't you open it and see what it looks like yep it's pretty smoky i'm using dried sticks right now and some dried cedar so when i put the half of my balder the half wet wood will crate are very smoky yeah fire in there cool wow you did it what do you think is that going to work perfect hi so many people were worried about you in the last vlog because you didn't show yourself at all so many people are concerned like hundreds of comments where's the other dog guy's fine he's just lazy he likes to sit on the patio all right load up load up so the shelves inside we want to hang things we want to put stuff on racks yep so it makes sense to put the racks like you said you said this put the racks down below in case one of the food items that's hanging falls down the racks catch it and then we'll do rods here so we can hang all kinds of like fish fillets so it can be uh 37 by 15. fifteen foreign this so so hey it looks great let's try to put these in here that's obviously going to brace those down right of course you got this you got a second one third one so hanging up top would you call this trays down below uh uh so putting this little uh gutter on the smoker so the water doesn't always pull up around it and i don't feel like going to the well and pumping water and bringing all the way over here for this mortar mix that i'm mixing up so check it out nature's faucet so uh hmm yeah uh uh uh all right let's see how the smoke looks in there you want to go in there no that means that there's a lot of smoke yeah looks good that's working really nice so we gotta put some hanging rods another tray a third tray i gotta do some uh border aesthetically around so that this rock doesn't wash away and we've got to um fill it yeah exactly all right well let's go catch him you ready fill it up all right let's go deep in the dark unknown there's a place the path will be shown ancient melodies you
