How NOT To Carry a Colt Single Action Army

I think is bored of work John yeah I'll be good oh my gosh I should know better and have six rounds in there look at my foot I don't feel it though I must have missed my foot I just shot my shoe but not my foot lucky me that's why you don't carry six rounds one under the hammer in an old colt single-action or a new Colt single-action okay or anything like it in a Colt clone that doesn't have a hammer block transfer system some kind of safety thing to keep the hammer the firing pin from resting on the primer okay you want five rounds in there I have shown you all that before whoo well that was lucky that was really lucky boy good thing my shoes are bigger than my foot yeah no actually that was a head you know that was a set of don't you I didn't I didn't just shoot my foot we did that very very carefully before the video I just held it up very still aimed very carefully to miss my foot just hit the shoe you believe that one okay now we didn't do that but it is a 45 slug in the shoe all right and it was done under safe conditions and all that sort of thing my foot was not in the shoe but the point is you do not want to carry a colt single-action or clone with this kind of action old action with six rounds in it that firing pin is going to be either resting on the primer or you're at that first notch which is also kind of fragile and if you pop it you'll break it and chip off a hammer and you know it might be fire the gun some people will disagree you'll see them in the comments but people who really knew these and relied on a colt single-action they carried them daily in the Old West or any time they really knew them including John Wayne and real cowboys they carried five and as John Wayne said if you're going into gunfight you think you need six go ahead and put the sixth one in there you know or if you're at the range you can put six in right I tend to just load five out of habit because in Cowboy Action Shooting you know they're ever load six I did that for about ten years and so it's just a force of habit if you're worried about capacity get a Glock 17 right so anyway important issue again as we've shown you all before I have some rounds in my pocket the John Wayne load the cowboy reload put one round in skip the chamber then you put four in one two three four now when I pull the hammer back underneath there is an empty chamber I just know it what's just click ok if you do that correctly that's what happens every time and so I could holster now it's not on a live round okay hammers down all the waste not even then the quote unquote safety notch first nice it's just on an empty chamber and I know it's totally safe if I'm moving boards around if I hit with my elbow as I understand Cowboys would sling their saddles sometimes and the stirrup might hit it and go off and they get a hole in their foot not just their shoot or their leg just anything you're working around and you're wearing one of these things you don't want to be worried about hitting the hammer with something yeah we've got another video should you low fire we should use it up load 6 where we hit it with a stick several times fired every time see so that could happen very very simply and let me show you now I have five in there and so I'll get five shots in a row it's something got me a ram I'm hit to Buffalo oh man what a gun can't miss yes I can I had to miss one intentionally and so there they are you got one empty chamber that one empty chamber won't kill you literally having five instead of six so the important thing to remember if you're going to carry it that's why it's called how not to carry a colt single-action you want five in it okay you want five rounds unless it's a Ruger of the Cairo or new action where you've got a block okay or transfer bar or something so it's up to you to know whether you have that or not you know do your research know what you're buying then what you have bought and then know what the situation is are you going to be carrying it around very long or you a cowboy or are you just going to be at the range and it's always going to just be pointed downrange once it's loaded okay and fired so something to remember so you won't end up with four toes on your right foot or your left foot life is good

This guy is so cool! He really knows what he’s talking about and has a great sense of humor. I love videos about guns but many people I see on YouTube are way irresponsible but I really respect this dude, especially after he fucks up and acknowledges it and tells everyone how not to make the same mistake (although I’m not sure if he actually shot his shoe, he never gives a very straight answer)
