before we jump on board i just thought i'd share a little bit about uh weather products that we tend to use in the cockpit uh in this particular plane we actually have two choices um we have the free adsb that we display on the garmin 750 and we also have xm satellite weather which down links to our avadyn and you'll notice there's a pretty significant difference in the detail of the two here's a side by side and on this trip back uh from kansas city we had to pick through the mess that you see on the screen there and so we'll talk a little bit more about that later and then onboard radar so let's get to flying and let's go have some fun welcome on board everybody i'm getting ready to head to kansas city this morning as hot as hades while loading up so uh nobody wants to see a guy sweat so welcome along alex city traffic mitsubishi 1727's here we'll be taking the active one eight alec city be a right turnout departure to the north west so as i was saying it's uh august and the south and we'll all lie holy crap so glad to be in here we'll be glad to get up to altitude everything's clear the board's clear we're ready to take off all right break release middle pressure on both engines power is set on both ending here five nine a little bit aggressive on the spoilers on roll to keep it balanced okay positive rate gear's coming up first notch flaps and pitching for the next set of steps a little bit right rudder always good to be coordinated helicopter 5-8 5-0 to the east northeast and bound playing in one six shelby county alex city traffic mit fishing once up two seven series departing the pattern to the southwest last call my government departure it's especially one seven two seven sierras with the off alex city looking for an ifr passing through three thousand mitsubishi one seven two seven sierra montgomery departure altimeter three zero zero seven squawk three one four six three double o seven three one four six on the squawk 20 seconds here keep it turn coming a little bit more rudder a little more back pressure south valley center city airport the altitude leaving 4.2 at this time number 270 roger clementine won through a thousand turn right direct lima x-ray tango expected by level two two zero in one zero minutes right on course up to one zero thousand two two oh and one zero minutes twenty subs here flying all over the place here all right come to 5000 i'm gonna come on with autopilot make sure that's taking it number two is here it buys in your own course two sub chairs on course at this time stock truck has montgomery inside all right a little direct enter interaction swipe over to gps mode on uh our navigation so autopilot's gonna follow that everything is set altitude pre-select is set number one seven two seven sierra contact atlanta center one two zero point four five 20 45 for 27 sierra you have a great day sir good day hello departure 673 foxtrot is with you we're out of a thousand feet for 3 500 well actually 3 000. all right let's get switched over pick up 4758 11 o'clock 10 miles westbound is a galaxy of 2 8 0. look at him slick obviously big truck 47 today mike i'll see you guys it's one o'clock 10 miles up with mountain bird at uh 3-3-0 defending 2-9-0 let's get our cabin set correctly make sure we don't step on anybody on atlanta give it just a second double check our power all pressure temps are good atlanta center mitsubishi one seven two seven zero with the eight thousand for one zero thousand i've been one seven two sevens here atlanta maintain flight level two two zero up to two two zero twenty seven zero thank you it's good to fly on the stick sometimes a lot of times cleared right up to our altitude so we can get a nice good climb all the way up [Music] yeah we're not leaving two niners here for two four as we get through about 10 000 feet we'll [Music] higher here we're uh start to become uh temperature limited on the engines number one seven two seven sierra contact atlanta one three two point two five after good day thirty two twenty five for twenty seven sierra have a great day there's a lot of muffling there on so we're right up against the temp limit on the left motor and the right motor is not far behind so they're actually pretty pretty well matched so we'll keep it that way for the client let us know take care of them they'll take care of us right club eight two just verify you have the area weather and lotus for my criminal well they too atlanta atlanta center mitsubishi 17270 with the thousand four two two zero [Music] all right welcome on board everybody uh we're level at 2-2-0 um so the crappy camera so resolution would have changed uh but nevertheless you kind of get the idea boxy three five three two two zero so 278 across the ground uh burning about 290 aside um running the engine's actually pretty cool today so i could probably get a little more airspeed out of it but still need to wear them out um traffic up there hang on so about an hour and 40 to go uh we had a deviation for some traffic uh so we'll hopefully get back on course here in a minute not a lot of weather to worry about as you can probably already see and uh otherwise pretty quiet uh we're on the tip tanks now it's a terrible way of looking at it but that's one way to get there um so once we burn off a little bit more fuel obviously we'll speed up as you guys have figured out how this plane generally works and uh should be a lot of fun uh it's nice smooth smooth flight out no bad weather anything to really worry about and uh we'll uh let you watch a little bit of in flight from the other cameras i might do a little bit of a time lapse but we'll get to the important part which is landing which is always the fun part all right skip the boring part that we do all right you guys have great hey welcome back on board real quick um getting ready to start the descent here shortly a couple guys talk about performance so we burned off uh the tip tanks and the outer tanks um we're about to finish burning off the outer tank so how about flying we're back up to around 290 knots uh true airspeed pretty much expected for this temperature so running 650 degrees uh should be a big problem uh so remember see the whole landing sequence and all that fun stuff number 27 sierra there is uh some other precipitation up ahead just on the east side of the trail intersection there that i gave you if you need deviations to the left just let me know if you needed to go to the right we'll have to get you up to 24. that's you just let me know 2017's here thank you for that we'll let you know and uh i think we're gonna be okay here controller's doing an awesome job as usual making sure we know what we're doing and not finding the silly things um one quick one here and i think i've talked about in the past so obviously that is adsb weather uh so that's one way number three is here but you can have some sense of what's going on and then you get over here and we have xm weather so it's going to be a lot more uh detailed and you can see that right outer tank is about to empty so we'll be picking back up for the descent and landing see in a bit i'm 270 right the clear fish posted to the lee summit airport forecast ladies five five districts in the air on the ground i will go ahead and catch with you this time do you have anybody over there for i don't have i have a picture checker but he's a 8400 not a factor for you if our cancellation has received traffic about 10 miles north at airport raider service terminate squawk vfr for exchange have a good day squawker 1200 thanks for the help have a great day sir united 22 23 200. all right please have a traffic mitsubishi one seven two seven zeroes ten miles to the southeast inbound to land uh one eight lee summit all right i see that traffic pattern altitude 2500 that's what i'd like to dial in here this one we're just gonna hand fly this all right keep slowing it down so i'll get crept above our gear speed but we can fix that come some flaps doesn't like power setting that's tough i don't want to rip you off quickly runway 2-2 clinton at least i'm in traffic mitsubishi 1727's here now five miles to the east we'll enter 45 left down went for runway 1 8 the summit all right those are up leveling a pattern altitude police on the traffic mitch bishop one seven two seven sierras entering left downwind one eight please summon full stop all right let's set our power comes gear drop sync is off power levers are full forward one notch flaps get the rest on the turn add a little bit of power for this turn lease on the traffic especially 17270 turn the left base one eight please um power set 20 degrees of flaps coming in and lisa traffic mitsubishi 17270 turning final three or one eight leads i'm at full stop for 125 knots i've got 126. a little high but it's gonna work itself out trim looks good five hundred all right through the great runway is clear we're landing landing lecture coming off taxi and strober off leave everything else till we go runway back the heat beacon stays on police on it mitsubishi 1727s here is clear the act of uh ignition and condition november 27th here therefore you have the weather note um at least summit officer fireman sir november 2 7 sierra runway 360 summit airport release for departure in our controlled airspace runway heading maintain 3 000 clearance void if not airborne in six minutes let's say one six five zero if not airborne and one six five zero advise this frequency of intention is no longer than one six five five time one six four five all right what's up two seven zeros cleared runway heading three thousand we're uh rolling on the runway now for departure runway three six talk to you in a second hbc 270 rebound correct we'll talk to you soon thank you at least i'm in traffic mitsubishi one seven two seven zero taking the active three six and chestnut just departed you guys staying in the pattern all right let's go traffic a few people in the general area that i want to stay clear of specifically this guy all right if i have to stay alive my trims are set that is set set 20 going to auto for you that's fishy guys i did that backwards don't tell on me please have a traffic message one seven two seven zero parting runway three six this time all right power is set times two all pressure looks good there's pizza line big gregarious the spoilers do their job at low airspeed everything looks good 105 rotate traffic skyhawk 1561 victor is six months coming out west we're gonna make a straight in approach to runway eight gardner there's 125 and accelerating a little more rudder there's 140. the rest of the flap coming out let's double check our power power is okay a little bit more trim there we go please have a traffic mitsubishi 1727 sierra puttering a pattern to this north downwind three all right so we're cleared up to three thousand now let's talk to approach me with you uh 189 5500 all right let's pitch for airspeed kansas city departure mitsubishi one seven two seven sierras with the off the summit runway heading passing through two point four we see one seven two seven zero can see the pressure is three zero one five three zero one five item vcc seven series radar contact three miles welcome on board guys um so we're at 210 we leveled off uh a little detour around that military operating area so everything looks good there as you can see we're starting to pick up our speed um we're heavy so we took off full bags of fuel basically max grows take off today so max fuel uh max payload i think i've got 100 pounds i could uh have set back in here uh so i would consider that max gross take off today so what we're seeing is a 277 uh true or the iso plus 17 kind of day we're not maxed out on our engines but uh running them up there so 295 indicated 277 true basically about 70 to 76 77 inches our excuse me torque and obviously you can see our right engine is the one-way temp limit on uh so fuel flow we're down at 2-0 so we're gonna burn a little bit more fuel so we're donating 600 pounds an hour to the aviation gods not not the end of the world but it is what it is so we got an hour and a half to go to home the weather looks like it's in decent shape real quick it's something i experimented with trying to understand the value proposition of xm and adsb so here we have uh an adsb look at the world um which is you know kind of we'll uh we'll touch on this again when we get close but obviously there's a not available probably won't be an hour and a half like the computer thinks we will but in the meantime hold on we'll enjoy the trip it's pretty up here in kansas but back in alabama not too much so we'll talk to you guys in a few memphis center beach river altimeter three zero zero two one welcome board so we had to climb up to 23 um 23 000 due to the fact that we're going to deviate around some weather and uh get over top of some military operating areas that are active on the backside of this wonderful line of weather that we're going to have to take a peek and see if we can work our way through up here we should have good visibility and be able to pick our way through the cells and uh talked about a little bit earlier in the flight about uh the difference between the usb 6.45 [Music] so we start to see kind of the granularity that's going to be pretty important to overlay on top of our onboard radar as well so obviously thunderstorms are just a thing in the southeast we work around them all the time but give them a lot of respect so we'll go up here take a peek we've got an exit strategy which is uh obviously back off to the west where the storm's already moved through so if it doesn't look good we'll turn around and go find somewhere to land and pretend like we're corporate pilots and eat some crackers and water at the fbo but if we're able to work our way through it then great we'll head on home but uh either way we'll just make a water decision gets us all home in one piece so uh real quick we have uh we're about to burn off the tip tanks so is uh about expected so uh ironically uh we're uh we're starting to pick up speed we literally just 22.66 now we're adding it back so we'll accelerate a little bit higher so the churros need to be a little bit lower as well i just don't have the power in these things up at the higher altitudes so i think i've said it before 20 to 22 is kind of that sweet spot 23-24 [Music] columbus approach one two six point zero seven okay columbus now 126.07 for 27.00 our frequency change there anyway we're picking back up so it's 172 knots true air speed and accelerating um still uh plus 16 ice out here so we'll uh switch over to the new controller and uh we'll tune back in just a little bit welcome back on board so we're gonna see if we can't find our way through this wonderful weather we got up ahead and um uh obviously it's a little bit of a hot mess up here so we're gonna put through here take a hard right um work our way on the back side of this minute nine zero one turn left right magnolia then is fouled and try not to push our luck again got an exit to come back out here so if we need to we will do that uh crabbing pretty good one roger stand by for the uh 56 knots coming from the right um procedure obviously we're kind of flying sideways so i have to allow for that as you visually look number 270 contacted center one through two point two five thirty two 25 for 27 sierra have a great day sir so i'll keep making adjustments there and we are cleared for deviations good afternoon mrs fishy17270230 currently deviating sbc one seven two seven zero line of center mode having extreme substation along your route uh for about the next 50 miles and uh left and right as much as you need when able a direct destination just give me advice how many times here copy how will it uh one more direct thank you yes sir it looks like if you just did that little bit of left and right for 50 miles but you can get on the south side of it 27 thank you sir that's the plan radar atlanta center if i maintain one six thousand my company also two niner niner eight so maneuvering speed is 191 knots we're sitting at 190. just gonna pull power back just a little bit and the purpose of that is just give myself a little bit of buffer obviously three three characters are getting close to some of those montgomery things two niner niner eight number six three one sierra foxhot contact memphis center 125.97 convoy 3353 atlanta center roger moderate heavy precipitation all the way to the field let me know if you need a dva birmingham output of 3007. november six three three zero fox shot you said to maintain five thousand what i want to do is come just around this cell we're going to turn back in eastbound tomboy 3353 contact permian approach 127.67 november 633 sierra foxtrot contact memphis center 125.97 see the time delay of xm november one seven two seven tier it looks like it turned to about a 120 heading will keep you uh in between two cells i'm showing place up zero that's what we're showing as well we're just going to circle this so we're coming around now i'm about to do one two three thank you for that yes sir it looks like that 120 heading for only about 15 miles then a turn to like a 135 or so um we'll get you to the south of everything i'm showing 20 seconds here thank you for that yeah we're making the turn now we're able to maintain vietnam a little time lapse commentary for the descent and through the weather three two one so uh that'll be a little bit boring just sitting right along through uh our picking away through the weather but a little time lapse kind of make it fun we should get the visual part i was able to pick our way through the first line visually and then uh scoot up the back side of the second line of storms and uh if i'm a cool video editor i'll uh paste in a photo um and show what i did but uh we're now on the back side and uh currently descending out of uh 23 000 and cleared all the way down to 4 000 where we hope to intersect the rnav 36 arrive at the airport before the thunderstorms do so uh while things work out which they look like they might um we'll be able to get her tucked away in the barn before the bottom falls out so hope you enjoyed the time lapse and join me on they approach here shortly you
