haven't had anything to eat so of course i'm really angry right now i'm just kind of walking around i don't even know where i'm going anymore there's something about a dumpling the dumpling place is called golden dumpling now the problem with finding something called golden something in a plaza full of chinese stores is that a lot of things are called gold in something i just saw a golden salon love walking around hmr looking at pots and pans and stuff what do you do when you're bored this h-mart does not have a big bertha this is probably about five pounds now i gotta find a place that will pretty cool this is good first of all cheese foam my favorite type of tea i told you guys i went a little a little far i pretty much forgot what i got already that's a lot of dumplings i think it's 650 per order of dumpling there's one two three four five six seven eight nine ten ten massive dumplings in here way bigger than usual dumplings and i got the steamed dumplings oh these are so good yeah let me just get a couple in my stomach before i can even talk i was like that just get pooped on the caterpillar fell on my head not nice anyway these are must try dumplings first sound of a good dumpling how thin that skin is and here this thing is definitely dressed for texas second sign how big is that filling ah massive put it all together also oh my god is this thing ever juicy i kind of wish they gave me vinegar instead of soy sauce but that's a common issue that's not a dumpling issue these dumplings have no issues tomatoes and egg noodles is something i used to make for myself this is basically chicken noodle soup for chinese people back when i really didn't have much money this was my go-to noodle soup recipe because it's really simple you just need some eggs some tomatoes scallions and i would just make a big pot of this and just keep putting instant noodles in here and just eat this meal after meal of course my version would be like completely red because i would douse this with so much hot oil and also vinegar and i'm not exaggerating even a little bit about this i used to have this big wok and i would make a whole wok for these noodles i think i filmed this for a recipe once that's the size of the wok that i used to make this noodle soup and i would eat the entire thing in one sitting because it's so hard to stop like all this food is so hard to stop eating it because it hits that nerve that just comforting nerve inside all chinese people and at least for me the more i eat this the happier i become so basically it's like i'm eating happiness all right dumplings are finished i'm going to stand here in the shade i think it's getting hot next week but it's still pretty cool right now let me just enjoy my tomatoes and egg noodle soup where's that caterpillar how did it go from like my hot oil to my shirt i have no idea hope you become a beautiful butterfly one day sorry i just realized that the footage from the dumpling part because the camera fogs over so easily in humidity and it's really humid today so i forgot to kind of wipe it down a little bit we good i think we're good now i'm going to the dmv after this so i really need i need to feel calm and good before i get over there because that is a difficult place this place serves matcha beignets and one thing about houston is that because it's pretty close to new orleans there's actually a lot of cajun food and it's very much known for viet cajun like vietnamese cajun food i think that's what i'm gonna eat tomorrow these are really good whatever i'm about to face a lot of bitterness in life i want to just bombard myself with sweet things to get ready eat this right before i go to the dmv and if you've never had a banana before just pretend that soft fluffy pillow you're sleeping on every night is a giant donut with powdered sugar all over it you're naturally getting an authentic a eating experience unless afterwards you're covered in powdered sugar which could be useful if i'm having a really bad time at a dmv i could just suck on my shirt [Music] it's done sorry it's foggy big shout out to uh the gentleman who held me at the dmv i was having so much trouble the last couple times because i haven't really received anything in the mail so i was trying to prove my residency and i was getting conflicted information like i needed my car registration one place that i didn't one place that big statements were okay another place that i wasn't so this gentleman at the dmv helped me through all that like he didn't kick me out he worked with me and it's done i am now officially a texas driver's license holder why not like two or four weeks when i actually get my license where am i going oh this place all right i heard this place is awesome chongqing chickenpot anyway i didn't get this gentleman's name because it was still kind of a stressful situation but appreciate his kindness and help and finally it's over i have my texas driver's license now i got to register my vehicle here which apparently it's another very tedious process i never had this dish before this is the first time i've seen something like this and it started showing up around citron around the 90s so this is a citron dish and characteristics should be pretty nummy and spicy it's definitely the same family as the tronsine spicy chicken that's good what kind of surprises me is that if you look through this dish there's a ton of oil in here but for some reason what i'm getting the chicken in chinese there's a phrase called yo arbuni which means that it's oily but it's not overbearing exactly what this dish is super tender pieces of chicken flavor of course soaked right through the entire piece i got the second highest spice setting i think if i get this again i will get the spiciest version because even right now there's something unmistakably addictive about this it's like i'm eating popcorn i can't stop putting this in my mouth and the heat slowly builds up so first couple pieces i didn't really even notice the heat too much now i just heat it up my mouth creating this like consistent burn but this is a hundred percent a citron dish my tongue is not just burning up it's feeling numb as well that's where the peppercorn comes in so you see all this oil and on the bottom that's where flavor town is right there that's the idea it's limited of flavor you just pour that over your rice maybe add a piece of chicken right there and just give it a nice little scoop come here try that that's as delicious oh man that's about as delicious as food can get this dish definitely is really not suitable for a summer stay in houston that is for sure that chili just went down and it's not only burning me on my tongue it's burning me like right here i feel like right here where iron man's you know power sources right there all right so when you pretty much finish off the chicken you let them know and they come with this giant kettle of chicken broth and that goes into whatever is left over from your chicken from before any ingredients you order from the hot pot will now go into this so this is pretty exciting because all that great flavor from the chicken is now inherited in your hot pot along with like chicken broth that they've been cooking since i asked since this morning that's good and very spicy chicken soup and you got dipping sauce just like you would at a hop-out place as well that's good this is a pretty genius way to eat this dish i mean maybe that caterpillar just from this morning is kind of like symbolic because my chicken dish eventually evolved into a hot pot that still embodied all the flavors from before there's so much flavor in this broth and this is perfect if you ever want to go out and you can't make up your mind whether you want to eat a sichuan dish or just have some hot pot i love foods that make it convenient for me not to choose so i pretty much just want all of it and if you want to still leave a little remnants of chicken into the hot pot from from before yeah this is a really solid place a couple last sip with the soup it's a great way to finish this meal off this is awesome place i'll be back especially you know in the winter does it get cold here in the winter it does right [Music] all right this is so weird let me just tell you what happened i feel like i'm like hallucinating that's why i'm not i kept this letter it has my mortgage form in here and i put the mortgage form into this envelope because of course i'm trying to change the address so i put a stamp on it and and whatever and i was gonna mail it when i saw a post box and it's just been sitting in you know the cup holder part of my car look at this it's open someone opened it and it's not in there anymore so someone was in my car and took my mortgage form my mortgage information wow that is creepy this is just the weirdest thing is there some scam or conspiracy i don't know about involving the stuff when did someone have access to my car and why would they take this i didn't put this thing in the envelope until texas so i was in texas there's no situation where there was a valet where anybody else should have been in my car this is some freaky stuff i don't know like there's like a like a weird texas conspiracy where people just steals other people's change of address forms for what something's going on this is just weird anyway uh i'm in sugar land apparently there's a huge asian population here so there's like apparently a bunch of chinatowns in the uh houston area so there's a noodle place and this place has my name on it no according to well google they're open today but according to them they're closed today and yesterday not the first time google has done me wrong what's up guys that was a disappointment i was really looking forward to that needle shop i think i'm just gonna go home tonight because this is some serial killer stuff i think also the first data entered my mind when i realized a stranger's been in my car was not that oh that form had my and he'd lick addre down now that i just touched it that is the first thing i think about i was looking at buying a house possibly in houston this was months ago i was thinking whether i should rent an apartment or buy a house i was looking at some of these places they literally look like these loyal tycoon mansions you know you're walking with a double staircase a fountain in the middle for like way less than even my house in the woods what you're seeing now is like my last day here in houston and this is my third attempt in trying to go to this place i kid you not my third time trying to come here anyway the reason why i said this place has my name on it it's uh my la my middle name is x i and g so sheen's kitchen i told the story in private meetings and on certain shows but my my first name was x ing this is a very traditional chinese soda my first name was xing before i changed it legally to mike michael whatever when i was 18 years old so for better part of a decade you know i dealt with the whole when teachers would go down the road like chase henderson which is a real real person if you're watching chase how you doing man great guy i met him in second grade anyway we'll always be like chase under steve carson and then it's like zing zing zing chan x-zing and i remember the fateful year when those crossing signs start popping up all over the u.s you know what i'm talking about the deer crossing pit crossing then my name became easy it's like crossing chin crossing deer crossing chin i think mike is just easier hmm glad i didn't name myself jackie though so this is a hunan restaurant and um food is very similar to sion food it's called northern food it specializes in noodles and lamb i got today some classic dishes uh yo mia which is the chili oil fried noodles which is my favorite thing to get at this restaurant also i got a shogi so shalji is a it's a roasted chicken and this is something that would appear in every single night market in china no that's actually the flavor i remember when i had this in china like so many years ago the last time i ate this i kid you now i was in the night market my mom bought this for me and told me to go home early and i put like half a chicken in my pocket i just that's what i did back then i kept food in my pocket i was just slowly kind of break this just down strand by strands just trying to conserve it because we really didn't have a lot of money in china either this is the flavor i remember garlic scallions and chilies so it creates this insane aroma like seriously you guys never smell something so good in your life everything's done by hand that's how you get that nice stretch nice chewy texture the sauce they have sitting on this probably a mixture of soy vinegar and some sesame oil i'm sure and also i got a rosiamo this is a chiang dish you guys seen me get this many times before in the past stewed pork skin fat meat and all and these buns usually are handmade as well you want to make sure there's tons of sauce in this little pork burger and you want that to kind of soak into the bun on either side of it and what i can tell they put a lot of meat in here okay visually so far everything checks out right here [Music] yeah this is good this is a masterpiece of this recipe i mean it is hitting every single spot you want this to hit like it's more about the feeling you get like you're just kind of like lost for a few seconds in that food euphoria and when this goes into your mouth it's just a huge like sledgehammer of chewy texture the vinegar the soy sauce the chilis the garlic scallions everything like this dish is designed to overwhelm your senses and it does exhilarating job this sauce is perfect bit heavier on the vinegar which that's supposed to be the case like i love that [Music] okay for this the filling is great super juicy tender pieces of pork and i have a recipe for this burger as well that is actually a really really good recipe i worked on it for a long long time the only complaint i will have is that bun is supposed to be pillowy soft on the inside but it's supposed to have a nice toasty shell which i wish the shell here was toasty here right now the shell is kind of soft which in this case to me that this i think they made a bunch of these before and they heated it up other than that it's really thin the ratio is good and this is also a really no frill burger it's supposed to just be tons of pork and juice and what you can do with this is just kind of leave it usually i like to eat that with a cold wheat noodle which they also have what you can also do is just dunk this burger sandwich in there get some of that grape sauce right there that's nice this is a pretty authentic bowl of these noodles and pretty authentic flavors coming from the chicken as well i would recommend this place come here and try this out i don't know how many bamboo noodle places houston have but this in all my years of eating batman noodles one of the best in terms of flavor for all the vegetarians out there i know a lot of you guys are watching the show thank you for that even though i have an ongoing war with broccoli this is a vegetarian dish actually it's a vegan dish because the oil they're using or just vegetable oil come and try this when i come to places like these i really wanted to kind of transport me back to my childhood so yeah back when i was in china i'll be drinking bae bing young this is basically an orange fanta i would always go out and eat these noodles and i love salty roasted chicken these are all my childhood favorites my childhood memories so that's why whenever i see places like this that sells these dishes i gotta get it anyway i can't really remember what i ate like two days ago i think i had some oh great dumplings i think some chicken hot pot that was really good anyway i'll put
