Yasss, I cannot wait to listen to this!

Noah continues to be my favourite Youtuber. I just wish he made a video about some cRPG again, as those are my favourite ones.

When Noah announced he'd be analysing console games, I immediately got excited for his take on the Red Dead series.

And it's here. Christmas has come early. Over 4 hours of Noah and Red Dead.

Edit: So I "cheated" and watched the Red Dead 2 part first as that interested me the most.

I am so happy Noah liked the game and especially Arthur so much. Calling him his favorite proganist in gaming and calling the game one of his favorite western experiences of all mediums is pretty damn high praise coming from him. And it was great to hear his thoughts on some of the more controversial topics like the linear mission design and detailed animations. I have to say, I much felt the same way he felt about those things. What an incredible achievement this game was.

Finished the entire video. Fantastic stuff, it's clear that the video's main focal point was RDR 2, but I have to say, Noah put a lot of things in a new perspective for me with RDR 1. Multiple subtle things I didn't pick up on despite playing the game multiple times. Makes me appreciate the game even more.

I have not watched the second half as I have yet to play RDR2, but god damn does the first half of the video leave me hungry for more. It's been a while since I played RDR1, and what I mostly remember beyond the usual highlights (riding into Mexico while a song plays, Dutch leading into riding back home, the ending) is how much the pacing dragged on before the major moments in the second act (storming the Fort is preceded by hours of pretty much meaningless fetch quests and non-sequitors with weird, unlikable characters; the entirety of Mexico felt like I was running in narrative circles). This video was a great refresher on just how much great, subtle storytelling was 'buried' in those moments.

Can't wait to find out myself how they tie into the sequel, and what Noah makes of it, but I do know that the wait for reports of the PC problems being fixed will feel longer now.

Noah's videos are best enjoyed alongside a lazy Sunday afternoon in the background of another game. Maybe enjoy a nap afterwards?

Jesus, could some college just give him a doctorate already so he can just deliver lectures on Video Game themes and function at the academic level? His body of work should count at this point.
