commands a blessing and so I may be walk of life this morning as a matter where you're from God's here and wants to meet with us and in his presence he changes things he transforms lives and all the asks is that we open up our hearts again we commit to just putting him first into that relationship with him and watch them do incredible things you came to see God do incredible things this morning sound strange but not to the person that the Holy Spirit's prompted in my spirit who is suffering this morning with a excruciating pain right now in the back you mean I don't know if it's if it's your hamstring or whatever it is but it's all load now as it's behind you need and also I felt prompted that there are there's someone here that you have an issue with your wrist and it's actually affecting your work it's an issue with your wrist and you just can't work it's impacting on your work and I believe that the Holy Spirit this morning actually can heal you right where you're at no matter what it is and the last thing is and it can seem like it seems as normal unless you struggle with migraine headaches and maybe this week you've been struggling with migraine headaches maybe you struggle with migraine headaches quite a bit I don't agree that the Holy Spirit also is going to heal you of those migraine headaches and let's believe for it to be broken over your life and let's believe that you don't struggle with it so church can you believe together with me for those people this morning that God would heal because we know he does he'll he's supernatural he's almighty he wants to he wills to sir can we raise our hands to the Lord this morning and let's believe for those people the government Hill Father we thank you well for those people this morning for those struggling with pain behind their new law those struggling with migraine headaches but for those mother everyone issues with their wrists that's affecting their work father I ask in Jesus name but even in every location this morning even online no matter where your people are at this morning more than you would heal them you wouldn't meet them you would intervene father we thank you that you're a healing miracle working God and we thank you that right now but right now you are healing your people setting them free in Jesus say amen there's so many prayer requests here this morning some of them all will be coming up behind me on the screen but you know what I love this part of the service this part because I think it demonstrates the community of faith it demonstrates the household of faith as the Bible puts that we're together no one has to stand alone and no matter what it is that you've written in as a request this morning God already knows it but this morning you've got a whole church family and online there and all the sunday links that are gonna stand with you and stand in the gap and you know intercessory prayer basically is praying for somebody else and standing in the gap it's such a generous thing it's easy to pray for yourself at times but actually step out and pray for somebody else and believe in God for breakthrough for their life and healing for their life and provision for their life it's just a generous thing secure church we are generous so why don't we stretch out our faith stretch out our hands let's really believe the Holy Spirit can work in every single one of these needs and he and he come afraid come on touch what do you start to pray and really believe in Jesus name god we look to you this morning and we know that nothing is impossible for you nothing is too difficult Lourdes you already see and you are aware of every single need in every life in every situation we ask of it you would move Lord that you had come into the center of these situations got the weather is sickness you would heal Lord weather is mean Lord that you would show yourself as provider we believe for breakthrough God we believe from miracles we pray that you would hop your way and if the name of Jesus would be glorified and we thank you in advance because we know that you are a good god beautiful and you are gonna work in their life in Jesus name Amen one more time and sing it together [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] come on let's let the king of keys [Music] it's pretty explosive in here this morning 11:15 I am serviced every single being birthed I mean it's pretty exciting and there was a football game excuse me for those online but a football game on last night any New Zealanders in the house this morning any New Zealanders all I know is that it faster Brian was here that he would definitely be giving the Sports report for the Wallabies All Blacks game and I thought that I would do that on his behalf this morning because what was the score Magoo 47:26 did you say 47:26 Wow hey we don't win very often so when we do when we muslim ake a big deal about it hey why don't your welcome casters she comes to share around the to share around our giving and it is my pleasure and privilege behind me are all the ways that you can give so if you want to take out your phone you can make use of the app or there are offering envelopes on your seat I've been preparing for my Sunday night at the movies that I'm doing next week yeah and as I've been getting ready I've been reading crazy stories and one of them is about a guy called Charles Blondin and I thought I would share it with you this morning see he was a French tightrope walker right that's like a tongue twister a French tightrope walker and he came to fame in September 14 1860 when he walked a 300 metre tightrope across the mighty Niagara Falls you see people had gathered from everywhere to watch the show from Canada and America they lined the banks of the river and I wanted to see what he was able to do so 50 meters high up in the air they watched one death-defying feat after another the first time he walked across the tightrope he was just holding one of those poles but then it started to get crazy so from there the first time he walked across what he jumped across in a sack then he got on stilts then he rode a bike across Niagara Falls he rode across Niagara Falls blindfolded once and then he walked across in the dark he even took a stove across the tightrope and when he got to the middle of the tightrope he stopped and he flipped an omelet he was crazy by the time he got back to the banks of the river the crowd was going wild when he finally did his last trick it took a wheelbarrow and a sack of potatoes and he pushed them across the tightrope and when he got back to the edge of the river the crowd was cheering they say louder than the Niagara Falls were falling and he posed a question to them he said this do you believe that I could put a person in the wheelbarrow and walk across the tightrope well the crowd went crazy of course you can bond on you other greatest tightrope walker ever we believe you and then he asked another question and that was who wants to volunteer to get in the wheelbarrow and the crowd went quiet because they believed he could but they didn't trust him with their lives you know for those of you this morning who have come into this place in your unaccustomed to tithing or giving it's easy for you to come to church and sit here and go yes Hillsong Church I believe in everything that you're doing yes God I believe that you provide for your church by tithing but it's a whole other thing to actually trust God with your finance to not just say I believe in this moment but I'm gonna take part in this moment I'm gonna volunteer myself I'm all in you know in James 2:26 it says his faith without works is dead and as we come around our giving this morning I believe we have an opportunity to take God at His Word to count ourselves in and to volunteer and to give what we have in order to see the kingdom of God advance so why don't you take something in your hand and let's give this morning with a spirit of trust let me pray for you God we thank you that you are a good god that you are faithful to your people that you provide what we need Lord we come this morning willing to take part in financing your kingdom and seeing it advanced on the earth in Jesus name we pray this every home amen amen my host service why don't you watch the screens of what is coming up at the life of Hillsong Church [Music] [Music] [Music] just that I see as a global chest I see a global family one house with many rooms I'm working in unified vision [Music] your potential is there to be unlocked but you've got to have the courage come on to recognize your value and your value comes from God you're working for God you're working for a higher purpose and I'm gonna have the courage to start to step out in my uniqueness let's all stand to our feet who loves pastor Robert Ferguson [Applause] let's put our hands together and really welcome pastor Robert as he comes to share the word this morning Daniel thank you thank you thank you wonderful people thanks team did a brilliant job as usual appreciate you you can all sit down well I've got the privilege and responsibility to speak to you this morning and not just to you but everyone online everyone LinkedIn everyone on the channel so it's great to talk to you this morning now if you were here last Sunday night I'm in a different mode I'm in a teaching mode this morning Bible teaching it's what I do and if you don't know me that's what I spend my life doing so we're in teaching mode if that's okay and I'm gonna continue a series now when I say that you may not know that I started a series but actually I started a series in February I thought I was going to continue the series but we put a few other things in between but I'm going to continue a series that I started in February on the four Gospels so we're going to look at Christianity 101 we're going to look at some of the basic ideas of Christianity is that okay just to give you a bit of a background every now and again you meet people with whom you have a genuinely authentic conversation in other words there's no distinction between the man and the message I think the conversation that Jesus Christ had with Pilate in John chapter 18 was one of those authentic conversations fact Tom Wright the theologian says that it's one of the most important conversations in the Bible why is that because in that short conversation Jesus revealed who he was he talked about four things he talked about his kingdom he said My Kingdom is not from this world but he also talked about his mission he said for this cause I was born he also talked about his death he talked about the kind of death that he would die and he also talked about his identity he said you are right in calling me a king so in that one conversation he talks about his kingdom his mission his death and his identity now I'm sure many of you have read the whole of a New Testament and all the Gospels but basically that is all Jesus ever talked about those four themes are taken throughout the Bible the kingdom the mission the death and the identity so in this series what I've done is taken those four ideas and I've married them to the four Gospels so in February I talked about Matthew a life of submission I'd wrote about God's kingdom we want all the benefits of the kingdom without realizing that if we have a kingdom we have a king and if we have a king we've got to submit to what he says that's what I did in the first message this one is going to be mark a life of service we're gonna talk about Christ's mission I've chosen mark because mark was a servant he served Peter by writing or write in the gospel dictated by Peter you also served Paul and Barnabas so I'm we're going to talk about service the mission of Christ the mission of the church and then if and when I have an opportunity on another Sunday morning I'm going to talk about Luke a life of sacrifice and we're going to talk about Christ's death and what that means and then I'm gonna talk about John a life of sonship and we're gonna talk about not only Jesus's identity but our identity so that's there that's set in the scene but today we're going to talk about mark and can I suggest you pin back areas and open up your spirit and put on your seat belt because this is not a very easy message this is not the sort of message you go when feeling oh I feel really good this is a sort of hit you between the eyes type message are you ready for one of those excellent I'll be as nice as I can but you know with me doesn't always work some of you are looking very suspicious now now it's gonna be great father God thank you for these wonderful people thank you for Jesus thank you for his example thank you for the life of the church thank you for all these wonderful volunteers and people committed to the church and I pray this morning this message will help us be the kinds of people you want us to be we ask it in the precious and the most wonderful name of Jesus and everybody said amen [Music] when I first came to Australia in 1990 I came as the principal of what is now the college in our city campus but was then a separate College called the International Institute for creative Ministries I ICM we used to call it 11 centimetres and every morning I used to lead the prayer meeting we used to have a prayer meeting at 7:30 every morning and as the principal I would lead it and one morning I was doing my normal Bible readings before I went to the prayer meeting and I read this John 13 verse 14 now that I your Lord and teacher have washed your feet you should also wash one another's feet I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you very truly I tell you no servant is greater than his master whenever we read difficult passages like that we tend to assume that they are parables and not a practice and that's what I'd always assume but that morning God spoke to me and said I want you to go to college and I want you to wash all the students feet well of course I said no because who wants to wash the unwashed especially at 7:30 in the morning so I said to God look I'm not going to do what you told me to do but I will preach on it it was a little deal isn't it strange how we're happy to tell other people how to live as long as we don't have to do it ourselves anyway I turned up to college ready to preach on this amazing passage in John chapter 13 and my head student met me at the door she said God spoke to me last night he told me that you are meant to wash all of our feet and she said because I knew you'd say yes I brought a bucket soap and plows ready for you to go so I could hardly back out at that point well I washed the disciples feet I watched the students feet and to be honest too changed my life but it didn't just change my life it changed the students life fact two years later one of the students who was going back to his country said I said what what was the most significant thing that ever happened to you at college he said when you washed our feet he said in my country no person in authority would ever do that but here's the question why was such a simple act so transformative and why are we so reticent to do it the service is actually Christ's heart and his mission in mark chapter 10 and verse 45 it says even the Son of man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many the gospel is an upside down message the kingdom is an upside down Kingdom it's exactly the opposite to how the world works if you want to receive you give if you want to reap you so if you want to live you die and if you want to be first and all of us do we have to be the last isn't that what Jesus said here he is again in mark 1029 he says I tell you trees replied no one who has left everybody say left home brothers sisters mother father children filled for me and the gospel will fail to receive everybody say receive a hundred times as much in this present age home brothers sisters mothers children fields along with persecutions and in the age to come eternal life but many who are first will be last and the last first we want the reception without the leaving we want the benefits without the cost I can honestly say that verse is true when I left my home in England left my country left my family left my ministry left what I did to come here I have benefited a hundredfold but it has cost and it comes by putting Christ and not ourselves first isn't it strange how we want to be the greatest we want to be the best we've bought into the lie that only great people changed the world in the 18th century a 19th century Thomas Carlyle came up with the great man theory he said only things the only things that ever accomplished in life are accomplished by great men he left out the women but I'm not talking about the time I'm talking about the idea of greatness he thought only great people make a difference we even call people great Frederick the Great Catherine the Great Alexander the Great Herod the Great yet not one of those people was great the only truly a great person is Jesus and we would never call him great because it would be incongruous we don't say Jesus the great even though he is greater than the temple greater than Aaron greater than Moses greater than the angels greater than the law greater than everything but his mandate was service he said this in mark 9 33 they came to Capernaum when he was in the house he asked them what were you arguing about on the road but they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest it's not just the disciples it's us we do this we're always trying to be number one the best the greatest I'm better than you we compete we compare sitting down Jesus called the twelve and said anyone who wants to be first must be the very last and the servant of all their servant of all God is calling us to a life of service it's not calling us to greatness no he wants us to be great nothing wrong with being great but the pathway to greatness is service the pathway to exaltation is humility that's the message of washing the disciples feet listen to this mark chapter 10 verse 42 I'm quoting from mark because this is about mark a life of service you know that those who are regarded as rulers of the law of the Gentiles lord it over them and their high officials exercise authority over them that's how the world works look at what he says not so with you everybody say not so with you we've got to do something different instead whoever wants to become great among you will be your servant whoever wants to be first must be slave even the son of man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life his disciples didn't get it but it wasn't just the disciples the Pharisees didn't get it the people didn't get it they wanted the most important places in the synagogue they wanted to be recognized they wanted titles listen to what it says mark 12 38 as he taught Jesus said watch out for the teachers of the law they like to walk around it slowing roads and be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and have the most important seats and the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets they devour widows houses and for sho make lengthy prayers these men come to this will be punished most severely Wow I said in the first service it's not the complicated verses that terrify me in the scriptures it's the simple ones it's the ones that I understand that mess with me Jesus is absolutely clear here so let's draw a couple of ideas from this passage I've just read and make some principles and then I'm going to talk about some practicalities is that okay all right number one service was Christ's mindset it says here whoever wants to become great must be your servant we've got to desire to be great for God's sake through his methodology which is service look at this Philippians true in your relationship with one another had the same mindset everybody's same mindset as Christ Jesus who being in the very nature God did not consider equality with God something to be used for his advantage rather he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant these people the Pharisees wondered the most important seats now there's nothing wrong with the most important seats here you are on the front row as long as it's functional and not motivational if we think of this as my right we're on serious seriously difficult ground and we all do it on a frequent flyer and I love to be looked after well couple of months ago I was not looked after well I was put on the last seat in the aeroplane next to the toilets and as a frequent flyer I thought that's a bit rough and I was feeling bad and then this person came down the aisle said Oh mr. Ferguson I am so sorry what are you doing back here ha thank you you know looking along the row and saying you know if they knew my name not yours would you like to come up to the front well of course I'd like to but you'd be glad to know I didn't truth is we all want to do that even even the greatest of us can fall into the trap one of my great heroes in life is Billy Graham in his in his autobiography tells when he was invited to Nagaland in the north of India and when he arrived he was exhausted and he was introduced to his helper who was called anyhoo Lee and he said he'll help you and certainly Hurley carried his bags and made him and T and he was there just to serve him and he said to know who Lee what's going on in the morning on preaching tomorrow night he says well as a prayer meeting do you want to go mr. Graham and he thought now you know I'm I'm the preacher he run here to preach I'm here for the big event he said how many people will be at the prayer meeting they said a hundred thousand okay so maybe I should go and then he who Lee started cleaning his shoes and as he's polishing his shoes Billy Graham said to him so tell me am I the only speaker at this conference and they only said no there are other speakers well who who the other speakers I need to meet them and he prevaricated he he didn't tell him he said no tell me the name of the other speaker and knew who Lee while cleaning Billy Graham's shoes said I'm the other speaker and it changed Billy Graham's life because you realized that this man understood the mandate of Christ whereas I refused initially to wash my students feet this man saw it as a privilege to clean somebody's shoes service is a mindset number two service is Christ's ministry you know all these people these these Pharisees wanted to be greeted with respects greeted with respect they wanted the title isn't it strange how we've changed the words in church to suit ourselves the ministry means service so if I said I am a full-time minister actually I'm a full-time servant but we don't think of it like that we give us titles like pastor but policy isn't a title it's a gift and in the Greek it doesn't mean pastor it means Shepherd so actually I'm a full time servant who has the gift of shepherding that changes things but isn't it Eugene Peterson talks about this he says we've changed the language in church we don't have studies any longer we have offices we don't have Sabbath's we have days off and he says first we change the word and then the word changes us we have meetings instead of services that's what this is it's not a meeting it's a service we're here to serve in Isaiah 42 and verse 1 and Jesus Jesus the King of Kings Jesus the Lord of lords is chosen by a God look at what it says Isaiah 42 and verse 1 here is my servant whom I uphold my chosen one in whom I delight I will put my spirit on him and He will bring justice to the nation's here is my servant of all the people we should give accolade it's to the Lord Jesus Christ of all the people in John chapter 13 when he's washing the chance disciples feet they should be worshipping him yet here he is washing their feet Jesus is a servant called a servant by his father don't you think we should do the same identify as servants I'm here just to serve I've got this theory that outside every church should be a big plaque a big sign saying name of the church and then under ministers it should have the name of every single person in the congregation because you are the ministers you're the servants and then right at the bottom in the smallest possible font should be assistant ministers Robert Ferguson because that's the upside down Kingdom but we don't do that because we want to be great number three still with me service was Jesus Christ's mission firstly it's his mindset then it says ministry then it says mission think of this mark 13 34 mark 13 34 it's like a man going away he leaves his house and puts his servants in charge it doesn't say he puts his kings in charge his leaders in charge his important people in charge his he puts his servants in charge and each with their assigned tasks every single one of you is a servant I'm a servant all of you have a task I have a task and when we get to heaven what's he going to ask us did we build a big church No to remove a big business no to be as a successful family no did you fulfill my task what was the task serve people did you fulfill my task Wow I don't know about you but I'm reading this and I'm thinking this is tough stuff but I'm just quoting what Jesus said we make Christianity it's so complicated I think one of the reasons we make it complicated is because the simple stuff is too difficult love your enemies forgive everyone love people as I have loved you give your life for your friends wash the disciples feet I'm not going to do that so let me argue about creation for a bit yes is Jesus make it really clear and here's some practical things practical guidelines mark 9:35 sitting down Jesus called the twelve and said anyone who wants to be first must be the very last and the servant of all he took a little child whom he placed among them taking the child in his arms he said to them whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me for things in this passage that I'm going to just give practical guidelines that okay but before I do that can I just say why did he pick a little child well not an influential leader I think he pits a child because he wants you to pick the least important person in the crowd in those days four children were less important than the elders all the elders were in there fully they their robes but the children were pushed away you remember when the children got in the way Jesus had to say leave those kids alone bring them to me because they were pushed away leaves the man of God alone so Jesus brought a child and I think not just a child but I think it was a little girl because in those days a little girl will be seen as less important than a little boy in fact my personal view is this wasn't just a little girl it was the little girl of maybe a syrophoenician woman who the Jews would have thought she's of no worth whatsoever so Jesus looked for the least least important person in that society and puts her on his knee and says this is what we must be like I reckon the crowd would have said what surely want us to be those important people no he says this is what I want it to look like this is how the church should look so here's four things number one serve the Lord is that when you serve you serve the one who was who sent me serve the Lord I didn't say was going to be complicated just serve the Lord can I suggest he's not he's not asking you to build a big business he's asking you to serve the Lord if you want to build a big business great but you serve the Lord by building a big business you serve the Lord by having a big family as soon as you switch it and build a big business you missed the point you can only serve one master you either serve the business or Jesus so my recommendation is it put Jesus first David the Bible says in acts 13 36 serves the purpose of God in his generation he used his royal position to serve he wasn't building the kingdom he wasn't building his royalty he wasn't building his well he wasn't building his influence he was serving the Lord and in doing so was raised up George and Margaret and Amanda and I were having dinner the other night we were talking about where the Hillsong Church would be known in 200 years time said I wonder if anyone will have heard of Hillsong Church in 200 years then we got on to will they have heard of us and George then said well it doesn't really matter whether they've heard of us or not what matters is that we hear Jesus say well done good and faithful servant Matthew 25:21 his master replied well done good and faithful servant not well done good and faithful dad not well done good and faithful mum not well done good and faithful church builder not well done good and pays faithful businessperson well done good and faithful servant so the first thing we do is serve the Lord everybody say serve the Lord second thing serve the word said the words I love this Luke served the word he used his scientific and his analytical mind to serve the word Luke 1:1 many have taken undertaken to drop accounts of the things that have been fulfilled among us just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first while eyewitnesses and listen servants of the words what do you do if you're a servant you do what you're told you don't expect thanks you don't expect reward you're a servant so you do what you're told if you are servants of the Lord you don't expect thanks or reward you just do what you're told if you're a servant of the word you do what it says you just do it because you're a servant of the word I wonder if that's us do we just read it as parable do we occasionally read the Bible because it suits us so we know that if we do we might get some promises or are we servants of the word if it says don't get drunk do we get drunk if it says don't be selfish do we get selfish if it says treat people just for it to retreat people just like we come up with all manner of excuses but it's very simple the Bible says serve the Lord serve the word number three serve the church we've got to be servants of all 1 Peter 4:10 each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms God has given every one of us grace gifts if you're an accountant serve the church if you're a lawyer serve the church use your grace gift to serve the church steward it if you're a plumber serve the church Peter was a fisherman he used his fishing skills to fish for men that's how calling to serve you know something we we sometimes encourage you to turn up on time and not to leave early but listen little practical thing if you're a member of a team you'll always be on time if you're in the choir they turned up on time and you'll never leave early because you're on a team can I suggest you put your hand up and just say hey I want to be part of this this isn't for entertainment this isn't just to have a good time thank God for community thank God for the good music thank God for their building thank God for the food thank God for everything that I enjoy in this place but it's not for me to have a good time it's for me to serve I said in the first service when I was in Copenhagen at their first service in midweek they didn't know how many people would come people were queued around the block we had to have two services and there was someone already shaking hands on the door I said to Thomas Hanson our campus pastor in Copenhagen while you're organized he said I don't know who that is apparently he just saw the crowd and said said can I help and they put him on the door he did a brilliant job shaking hands welcome welcome welcome you know sometimes he had more it seems that he had more idea about Christianity than people have been in church not this church course for 10 or 15 years you don't attend church you are the church and you are the church that means you got gift that means you serve and the final one is serve the needy serve the needy Jesus served the needy Luke 22 27 for he who is greater who is greater the one who is at the table or the one who serves is it not the one who is at the table but I am among you as one who serves we want to be at the table but Jesus left the table and washed the disciples feet Luke 4:18 spirit of the sovereign Lord is on me because he's 92 proclaim news to thee everybody shouted out proclaim good news to the he sent me to proclaim freedom for the recovery of sight for thee set thee these are our needy audience these are the people were called to serve not our friends sometimes I get annoyed cuz I'm in church with my friends and some needy person comes up wants help and I'm thinking wait a minute I'm talking to my friends but aren't we called for the needy person number of years ago I was in a 5-star hotel in London feeling good about myself and I got up in the morning to go to breakfast and as I opened the door there was a homeless man sleeping outside my door in a hotel it's like shirking so I stepped over him told him he shouldn't be there called security had breakfast and there God spoke to me so what were you doing why didn't you invite him to breakfast I went to look for him but it was too late that man haunts me coz I stepped over a needy person to get my breakfast instead of inviting him I should have only Don said wow what a brilliant door to sleep outside of all the doors in this hotel you chose mine and I am here to serve you would you like a breakfast and my expense that would have saved his life but I let him drift off down the street because I was too concerned about me I'd missed the mission is this gonna benefit you of course it's gonna benefit you look at this John 12:26 whoever serves me must follow me and where I am listen to this my servant will be also in other words who wants a close relationship with Jesus well serve Him and listen my father will honor the one who serves me I've told you about John 13 and my reticence to watch the students feet this is what Jesus said to the disciples very truly I tell you John 13 16 no servant is greater than his master nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him now that you know these things you will be blessed if you do them so this morning wherever you are this isn't a parable this is a practice this isn't a message this is our mandate now that you know it we'd better do amen so Jesus didn't say this but this is from me put that in your pipe and smoke it let's all stand as that spoken to you who wants to be a servant a better servant I believe God is challenging us to not step over people but lifts people serve people help people understand that's how Jesus taught us and that's how we're going to catch and help and love other people if you want to be a better servant let me pray for you and then after we've after we've done that we're gonna sing and then Nathaniel or Sam's gonna come up and talk to you and I about how Jesus gave his life for us and what that means but if you want prayer to be a better servant why don't you raise your hands in the air let me pray father God you see these amazing people thank you for the thousands and thousands of willing volunteers and servants in this church I pray that each one of us will take on that responsibility that mantle that mandate that mission and choose to be servants I pray that this will not be just hands in the air for a blessing this will be hands in the air for an act of service father touch and change every one of us and help us to be the servant that you are in Jesus name and everybody said amen god bless you [Applause] [Music] yes sir [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] my son I want to speak to everybody here in this room to everyone that's watching on ask you about Jesus you know the greatest active service that Jesus did was he gave His life that is what we remember at Easter he allowed himself to be crucified innocent man crucified and the Bible says he gave his life as a ransom why ransom why that language because all of humanity you and I we've been taken hostage and the Bible says by sin see God loves us he's for us he's not against us but we have all sinned you've sinned I have sinned we know we fall short and that sin has separated us from God that's what's missing in our life that thing that's missing that you can't find that person you know you're really are trying to be but just don't have the power to it's because we've sinned and sinners separated us religion will tell you that you can do enough good maybe to get back to God or get on the good side of God but the Bible says that there's nothing you and I can do to mend that gap and this is where we find out how much God loves us the Bible says that God loves you so much that he willingly gave Jesus to be a sacrifice why so that we don't have to perish what I need to live with God out there somewhere but we can know him in a real way in an intimate way see today is the day of salvation today is a day that you can know you're not just your sins are forgiven but you can know the power of release from condemnation from guilt from your past you can know a brand new star and more importantly the God who's up there somewhere now becomes the God who's in here I'm gonna ask you everyone to close their eyes and bow their heads everyone that's watching close your eyes bow your heads if you're able because I'm gonna ask you to receive Jesus I'm gonna offer you it's not me but heaven this morning is offering you the invitation of salvation the invitation of eternal life the invitation of forgiveness and a brand new start and if you'll reach out and accept this invitation then this morning you can know what it means to be saved what it means to be forgiven what it means to be made whole if you're in this place you're watching and you know you need to give your life to Jesus or maybe you once walk with God you know you're far away then in this moment right now right now today I'm gonna ask you raise your hand say send that's me I know I need to get my life right with God people raising their hand that's it raise it quickly quickly where you are where you are through the screen razors say Sam that's me I know I need to give my life right with God fantastic wonderful wonderful we're now all of us together as well as you that have raised your hand or maybe you didn't raise your hand but you know you need to get your life right with God all of us together let's pray this prayer that ask God to forgive us come on outloud repeat after me dear Jesus thank you that you died on the cross for my sin I thank you and I ask you to come into my life to be my Lord and Savior thank you I'm now forgiven I'm now a child of God in Jesus name Amen amen amen come on when we put our heads together wonderful thanks offender you know the Bible says all of heaven stopped in that moment that you prayed that prayer and every angel began to rejoice and this is what we want to do we want to give you this Bible as a gift okay so all the exits no matter where you are you're going to get people waving these Bibles around go to them and say to them hey I prayed that prayer and would love to give you this Bible as a gift but can I just say if you didn't pray that prayer you know you should have it's actually not too late okay it's not too late you haven't miss down Oh to them we'd love to pray with you and give this as a gift so come on one more time let's put our hands together for great decision I say in the first service we should never grow tired of people finding Christ in every single service every single week in every single campus we should never lose sight of what it's all about thank God that people find themselves in meetings and services just like this and find Christ and I was so blessed to be part of such a awesome awesome church so hey let's thank pastor Robert Ferguson fer [Applause] [Music] and I'd love to reiterate you gave credit to and acknowledged all those thousands and thousands of volunteers across our church that serve week in and week out and general it for those that don't serve I think for a lot of people and for maybe you it's just because you don't know how to sew maybe the end of the service if you feel prompted to that maybe at the end of the service I know at the end of the first service many many many people went up into the foyers and lobbies of our locations everywhere to literally write their name down and say where can I help what can I do where their hand up so I love the spirit of our church so many times it's not people don't want to they just don't know how to so it's really easy at the end of the service go speak to someone in the lobby I think Brent Garrett here at the hills campus who's the service pastor of this service and I'm sure in all the other locations as well there'll be people to have a conversation with you and let's see what we can do to get you involved and help serving in the life of our church so that's awesome what do we appreciate every single person in this service and all the other locations that are serving playing their part just before I just saw pictures and footage of the service right now they're in Tokyo incredibly exciting and inspiring days that we live in so big congratulations to every single person at Hillsong Sunday linked in
