Haley Strategic D3CRM Micro Chest Rig

slick belts the belts have a discount code grant thumb and besides that you do you guys so today the topic is going to be chest rigs specifically we are going to be talking about the Haley strategic micro chest rig right here so loss talk about there but before we do that let's be transparent as we always are on my relationship with the company so if this is your first time to channel um anytime I review a product I like to be as transparent as possible about what the company does for me what I do for the company that way there's no ambiguity as far as you know whether or not the review is biased or not so I try to be as unbiased as possible despite relationships in the industry and that is definitely true of Haley strategic as you know Haley strategic is founded by Travis Haley who's my who is my friend and I talk to them all the time we're good pals we do a whole lot of collaboration projects including a really awesome upcoming fan film stay tuned for that and yeah so I I work at them all the time a lot of the guys will work there I'm really close friends with and so to say that if there is ever to be a bias in some review that I do it could probably be over at Haley CT check but I would like to think that fight all those things that I will not pull punches when it comes to my reviews on any type of product but just so you guys are aware of what my relationship with that company is all these things are given to me free I am not paid for those reviews but just so you know where we're coming from so with those things out of the way and again if that's a problem for you if you think I'm biased you can close out I don't really care but those things out of the way let's talk about first question which is why would I choose HS rig when I can just have everything mounted straight to my plate carrier and that's a really good question and that comes down to mission driven so right it depends on what you're doing so let's say that you are a law enforcement officer and that you wear your body armor underneath your uniform and a situation goes down where you have to grab your AR and you got to grab it and then you need to have extra mags so put it on a plate carryover armor it's not really gonna work so well so a chest rig in that situation would work really well let's say that in the military branch that you're in or the military that you're with or the unit that you're with that you're running slick armor that means it has no Molly or no attachments of any type you're gonna need to run a chest rig on that or let's say that you're done doing some type of reconnoitering recce type work and you want to run you know quick and light for maximal cooling and all that type of stuff chest rigs are great and finally low pro chest rigs can easily fit underneath clothing if you need to be in a situation where you don't want people to know that you're you know packing like three mags or something like that so those are some of the reasons you might run a chest rig I'm not here to dictate whether or not you're gonna run one but with those things out of the way let's talk about the Haley micro chest rig here is the Haley micro chest rig couple things on this this particular unit I've only run for around two months I ran it from about the time it was like being prototyped to around the time it was released this one is a final product and they might be here in the future but they have it pretty dang good so first off it's really durable like any Haley strategic chest rig or a product that's made they're made very well so I use this one for two months they used it in the jungle that type of stuff works great no problems there on the bottom if you look they have a little drainage ports and that is awesome especially in humid environments that way you don't get all yourself waterlogged in there so just drinks right out or debris can come out a little bit easier or if debris gets clogged in there you can kind of get in there and blow it out that type of stuff so those are great the stitching is awesome I have no complaints about the workmanship of the material or anything like that so let's talk a little bit about what you're getting when you buy the Haley suit ichika chested right here so when you buy it it doesn't come with any inserts so you need to buy one of the inserts whether that be a five five six you know you're running a AR or some type of variant you also have the seven six two so if you're running a you know a scar or a FAL or some other 308 type right holding those inserts now with the five five six and a seven six two inserts they both come with MP two magazine inserts so the best way to describe the MP two inserts is they're pretty similar to the S TAC Kiwi inserts so it's basically a piece of plastic that orchid acts that forces the magazine pouch open a little bit more and also provides retention on the magazine itself so that they're a little bit harder to insert and pull out what that means is that when you're hanging them upside down that they're not just gonna fall out so they retained pretty well and also because they're opened up at the top it allows for a really easy insertion that's awesome especially when I'm working on your night vision and I have to reinsert a mag that's a big deal now when you're working with any type of micro chestrig people are quick to point out that the Haley rig and the spirit of systems rig look really similar here we have the spirit of systems rig and here we have the Haley rig now when you first look at them you might say oh my gosh you know one ripped off the other that's not the case they're both developed at the same time by different companies with completely different ideas on how they want their equipment run so to say that they are the same or one rip up the other is not really understanding the philosophy behind their use so with the Haley rig Travis Haley is big on designing products around kind of how he how he works and how he shoots guns and his experience is gun fighting which are quite ample so he is a big fan of re-indexing mags and so am I so what Rhian Dixie mags is is you get into a gunfight you know you're coming down a hallway you're going downstream whatever and you come upon a thought I thought we mean that hostile over there just for a quick clarification psychopaths and you beat the thought to the gun you get your gun up and you've gotten that do to the ground you fire five six seven eight ten fifteen God knows how many rounds because it might be a really stressful environment so you gun that do to the ground your buddy comes up cuz you cover and you have that lonely gun fight you have that moment to swap max because we just fired a bunch of ammo we want to top off before we get into the next engagement but we might reply we're gonna have some rounds left in the magazine so do we want to just discard that magazine you gonna put in a dump pouch a dump pouch just can get a little bit messy so what you can do is you can reindex so read exeunt simply taking that partially spent magazine and swap it for a fresh one so typically three indexing you work from the right front left so let's beam fold that you need for like tactical reloads like those Umbridge excuse me for emergency reloads and then further to the right for the sack to go reload so you'd swap an out for the far right and then as you went through the fight you go to the middle and then to the left and all that type stuff but the point is is that you're retaining those partial magazines to ensure that you have them for later on in a gunfight now with the spirit of systems Riggs you can definitely reindex mags but the opening is a little bit smaller and it can be a little bit more difficult under stress to reinsert them so that wasn't so much their concern when they were designing this particular chess ring now there are other things that are good about the spiritual systems rig and I really do like this rig to just understand the philosophical differences in kind of use between these two and why you might choose one of the other now me personally I'm a big fan of how Haley designed his magazine I'm a big fan of how Haley designed his I really like Rhian Dixie mags I think it says it's a smart thing to do in many situations so I really like his design right there now besides the five five six and the seven six - you also have subgun inserts but the sub done insert you have the ability to hold up to four magazines so if you're rocking like the mp5 and p7 anything like that those are all gonna fit inside those magazine pouches this is a zenith clone by the way not airsoft just in case you guys are wondering those were all will all work very well now these ones don't have the NP - inserts but they still work pretty good on re-indexing from my time using them so it works really well today we're gonna be mostly talking about this configured four five five six so we have our magazine inserts on the right and the left hand side we have basically pistol pouches that can be used for a variety of reasons our situation so in my case I'm a right-handed shooter so if I draw my pistol mag it's gonna be with my left hand so I have a pistol mag on the left hand side right here you can put anything else in there flashlights whatever so I know people are gonna ask but why do I have a Leatherman on my right hand side with the Flathead out well if something loosens up like a peck or something like that or some optic this allows you to tighten it down really quickly it's just good to have on you so I have that right there and you never know when you're gonna need a Leatherman not everything's about gun fighting guess those two pouches are held by elastic and they also have a shot cord to eat them retained they work really well no complaints there then finally we have the front pouch which is a large zippered pouch I'm a huge fan of the zipper so on the spirit of systems rig everything is pretty much velcro and there's nothing more annoying than being on some type of recce type you know op and then you have to get to something with velcro and I know that's probably bad planning I shouldn't have anything that I need to get to with that has velcro on it you know that's mission essential that makes noise and that type of stuff but you know why have velcro pouches and so I'm a big fan of the zippers I know zippers can fail but on good manufactured zippers like the one on Haley Reagan other types of equipment I haven't had them fail me in the field I'm sure will happen at some point but I'm a big fan of the fact that they did is it's much quieter so on this particular rig I have it set up more for kind of recce type operations so as you can see here there is retaining cord and to hold in different items and then on the inside of the flap right here you have velcro two velcro and batteries or whatever so a couple things I have in here I have a right in the rain notebook to write down maps and chords and that type thing this one's actually mostly filled out with old op information within here I have an MS mm strobe for signaling and then of course I have a Garmin GPS this one being the etrex 30 big fan of this one right here we'll talk about GPS is more in a further video but just so you can kind of get an example of what I would have in here so if I'm not LARPing and doing retic you type stuff and I'm just at the range or something like that then I can go ahead and I can put in and make this my medical kit and so that works really well too so on the haley type rig it comes with an X harness they work great they hold them to your body really well I have no complaints with the X harness if you're used to the mayflower harness which is like an H it won't take that much getting used to the X it was today there also is the Mayflower swift clip system and that allows you to attach this onto a plate carrier so all right here I have a jpc 2.0 this one just has training plates in it right now that way it can maneuver it around easily but as you can see here it has a swift clip attachment components that way I can attach my chest Reagan also has velcro for it so I'm simply going to clip it in and then don't grow it on and then I have attached my chest rig to my plate carrier what I like about the micro rigs is that they easily fit onto a plate carrier without overextending so some of the older chest rigs like the Haley heavy or the older Haley rigs or like the Mayflower rigs those things are enormous when you attach them they extend out pass the front of the plate care at that what that means is that he needs some means on your cummerbund of tying them down so that kind of limits your space in your cummerbund so I like that these are small enough to fit in because then I can utilize all that space on my cummerbund for other types of accessories and for activities and all that stuff so I am a big fan of the micro rigs for that reason now you can do the same thing with the spirit assistance ring just as a quick note there you know it's not a limitation on that rig now if you're just running this as a chess rig alone a lot of people have the question of you know this is really cool but I need to run comms I need medical I need all that kind of stuff so when it comes to our chest rigs there's kind of three rules that go by so it's going to be make holes so I got ammunition plug holes medical and then finally mission essential gear whether it be radio SSC kid if you're law enforcement or what what have you are signaling kit for recce stuff so how do i configure this thing and make it work when I don't have a whole lot of space especially if I got to carry a radio and I still want to have three mags so first off when it comes to radios if you're going full Taliban and you're running like a bear Fang and you're going on that whole calm schedule these inserts do work with the veil fan radios they will keep them in and hold them in place so that's pretty cool of course you lose a mag slot right there now if you don't want to lose slot another thing that I've done is I've used the small radio pouches that come from cry or feral concepts or this case systems is from Pireaus designs and you can simply slap it on the back right there then you have a space for your radio or for smoke grenades or what-have-you right there on the back so we'll go ahead and we'll put a smoke grenade in there so we got our smoke grenade attached to our chest rig right here the question is is I need to have mission-essential equipment I need to have my GPS all that type stuff up front here so I'm gonna throw that stuff in there and the question is then where do I put my medical kit so the easiest thing to do in that case that I found is I use one of the hanger units from Haley strategic so a lot of companies make these I like Haley's design quite a bit it's the perfect size for me so you simply take the Haley hanger and you velcro it right on to the back right here then you have yourself a pretty nice setup that takes care of most stuff that you need so this is a setup that I'm running currently when it comes to five five six for chest rigs big fan of it there are rigs that do some things better that are more configurable like the spirit systems rig but I don't think that there is a purpose-built chest or there's quite as good as the Haley strategic micro now I know guys are gonna get in there and be like oh my gosh this thing is expensive it's 130 bucks plus another 35 for the insert and I get it you know you can get a condor rig for way cheaper and I know some condor rigs have really been through the crap in Afghanistan Syria and all that kind of stuff but if I'm gonna be buying something that I'm going to be relying on to save my life to some extent or another then I'm going to spend a little bit of money to ensure that my kid is good and that is me personally you guys get to do you because you're you're your own individual all that type of stuff but I think the Haley rig is really good it's there are problems right so when it comes to the Haley rig your biggest limitation when it comes to the Mack is radios honestly if you're running something like a 152 or an embitter it's gonna be a little bit more challenging you can use those add on pouches and put a 152 on but if you have a 152 on one side then you're gonna be a little bit unbalanced and if you're running too and both sides well then you're already a god of the battlefield already so no big deal that are you're talking to the air and grab your just crush and stuff and that will balance fine but again there are limitations of these rigs but I think for most people they're gonna work out pretty well so that is a highly strategic rig it is definitely the rig that you deserve and the one that you need get in there but the biggest thing is doesn't make you look cool the answer is yes very cool but you're not gonna look cool without training there's a lot of great places to get training out there guys and bare solutions cog works esoteric and of course my dad my friends company these strategic all offer great courses get in there get that trained look cool guys I really appreciate you guys watching and I've got nothing else for you guys alright last thing I got for you guys a lot of people have been asking me about Fitness and again I don't know why because there are people who are way fitter than me but um they want to know how to work out and now I'm gonna do a video on this eventually but the biggest advice I can give to you is to make sure that you don't get into a rut where you do the same workout you know the same three workouts every three days you know just for a year or something like that make sure that you're swapping out and you're changing up your workouts it's really good to kind of focus on different areas during certain periods of time so you know for two months you're focusing on strength and two months are focusing on aerobic fitness and then you know the focus on stretching and limberness and that type of stuff the whole point of that is to ensure that you're not just getting injured in that type thing an injury is just awful so make sure that you don't let that happen yourself and I'm not a sports physiologist or a personal trainer I go and talk to the with some professionals about that and get some good knowledge there but please invest a little bit of knowledge into understanding your body and taking care of yourself because that is really important so
