[Music] a lot of people have been asking me questions about Chester eggs how I set them up so I thought I'd give you a couple ideas based on my setup that I have what I've done for the last couple years and how my kind of philosophy has changed we can kind of get you guys started on a good survival type REE Constance Rick an ordering type Chester ik set up the whole idea behind this Chester right here is that can sustain me for a day I can with just this on be able to accomplish an objective or what-have-you what I'm doing and I'm teaching combat survival and evasion this Chester is going to change up a little bit Maggs are going to remove those replaced with redundancy such as ms mm strobes more GPS is etc that type of thing so I can help teach those objectives I need to beat but right now it's set up for more of a reconnaissance type mission with a light mission loadout and light type of thing first thing I want to mention with Chester eggs I like to wear them up I see a lot of guys wearing them very low not a big fan because I like to wear usually a pack of some type usually going to be moving if I had this type of Chester gone so great about chess rig is it's a lot more comfortable to wear with the pack compared to a play carrier so I wear these up pretty high there's two types of play carries that you can see out there guys primarily you're going to have the straight Molly panel and then the ones that are built with pouches so what's good about the Molly panel ones is that you can attach what you need where you need so you can kind of customize the base to your needs however the problem with them is that you can never get Molly quite as flat quite as compact as you can with a with pouches are sewn in Somali panels are great just realize some of the problems can be running into there with these ones that are designed to have the pouch sewn in certain places obviously you can't reconfigure this also the problem having something like this is if you have a pouch and you really don't need it there then you end up just either not using it it's kind of just flopping around or you end up putting something in there that you don't need because you just wanna have a filled and then you're carrying too much crap in your chest and you don't want to do that so there's good and there's bad when it comes to these pre-built chest rigs in this case I have the Mayflower Gen 4 I found that it's worked pretty well for me the last about year or so that I've had it I'm prior to that I use a couple of different split rig chest rigs those types of things that were all Molly but I can never get in this tight I like I'm able to move around this saying that type of deal so that further news kind of talked about how I have my setup so typically on my left side right here is where I have my radio which is typically a PRC 152 obviously that's for military work when I'm doing non-military work that's going to be something like some other type ham radio or some two-way radio whatever I'm using for the in that case moving across right next to where my radio would be I have Kemp sticks and writing utensils again one of my primary jobs is the combat survival invasion instructors so because of that I have it set up for that primarily coming across to the front right here I've got a Landsat ik compass obviously you need a compass to be able to navigate and again the purpose of this chest frege's I can put it on and be able to for a day with justice on my rifle whatever be able to accomplish objectives or in the case of teaching combat survival and evasion that I can go out with this meal teaches objectives I need so in any case navigating you're going to need a compass so always a good thing to have coming across I have a Leatherman something you should always have on you Leatherman is never going to fail you a great tool to have it can accomplish a variety of tasks that's why I have that next to that I have a surefire flashlight just real light in dark areas that type of thing I have two different types of flashlights actually to come over the house right over here on the flashlight that I have right here is the Princeton Tech flashlight it's a headlamp so again that's great when I'm doing some that work whether I'm chopping wood or you know looking around and I don't have my hands-free that type of thing so headlamps are great just I have Tooting flashlights to pay on the situation you never have enough flashlights below that I have ibuprofen always important of course chapstick you might make fun of this chapstick but my wife had it and it makes your lips feel like super soft and supple and I mean obviously guys what's the point if you don't have nice lips coming across I have my fire steel rod I use this quite a bit again I can start fires so that's really important as far as survival is concerned I can also purify water those fires cook food do whatever signal aircraft so having that fire seals vital important to me coming on the lacrosse my right side I've got an eye pack I've got some iodine again to purify water if I don't if I can't start a fire for example a non-permissive environment I got guys looking for me XYZ combat type sound iodine is gonna work out pretty well for you and right below that I have a giant signal mirror I like the really big signal mirrors because you can signal a little bit further and the smaller ones that you get although I am a big fan of the small as well just make sure you have a signal mirror on you there are a variety of different uses you can use them for and I always recommend one coming across through the back of the rig I have three mags and then coming across I've got the SC 4 which has served me for really well for a long time big fan of this fixed blade you guys look at the SI 5 lots of different knives I'm a huge fan of Randall's adventure training his knives that he makes good stuff so can't go wrong those just find yourself a good fix blade has an extended or full tang up here I've got my book garmin foretrex 401 typically I'm wearing that on my on my wrist right here but again if I don't want a bunch of crap up here I just have mounted on my chest rig that out that way I always have it with me and you know as I'm moving I can go ahead and transfer that off to my wrist work with that at that point that again the point of this chest rig is fight light right it's nice light chest rig so I can get what I need to done what goes along with that - this is being able to wear a pack with it so I've got the EXO mountain pack 3500 right here is my typical typical pack that I'm using I'm teaching guys so what's nice about is that my rig setup which where it's not a problem to wear the chest strap with it I have integrated pretty seamlessly to wear with my pack I have a lot of the X crap all that all that stuff I need to survive long term I could survive almost indefinitely with this back but yeah I could drop it go lighter with this chest rig so it's just another option here but we'll talk more about kind of pack setup and what you want to have in your packs that type of stuff but basically on my pack 2 right here I've got a larger individual first-aid kit also have some various accessories like a such as spare batteries and stuff so I cannot power my GPS and all that kind of stuff for a longer period of time now guys hope this is a good primer kind of get you thinking about how you want your chest or can be set up begin depending on what you're doing you're going to different stuff in it you have different loadouts might have a different design so just figure out what's going to work best for you and yeah say say if you have any questions feel free to comment thank you tune it again
