hey guys Sam GaN with tfbtv I've said it before I'll say it again you've got Chevy people you got forward people you got cat people you got people that like animals that have no loyalty whatsoever and we'll prostitute themselves to anybody with a treat or a stake and you've got smith and wesson people and block people so today's video is the Smith & Wesson shield 2.0 versus the Glock 43 without a doubt these two guns are the two most popular single stack 9 millimeters and I mean the Smith & Wesson shield generally not just the 2.0 and the Glock 43 in fact we did a poll on patreon guys please head over to patreon and support us if you can it really does mean a lot but we had a poll on patreon what is the best single stack 9-millimeter the Smith & Wesson shield ultimately pulled out the big win but the final round was the Glock 43 versus the shield as you would anticipate so what do these guns have in common well they're both small they're both single stack nine millimeters they're both extremely lightweight they're both polymer lowers they're both from respected manufacturers they're both reliable they both have good finishes they are both premier self-defense concealed carry handguns but I didn't make this video to talk about why these guns are the same I made this video to talk about why these guns are different since I'm a positive guy I'm just going to talk about the pluses of each gun over the other and then you can decide which one is the best for you now with the Smith & Wesson shield perhaps the most obvious plus is the +1 and that is that the shield is a 7 plus 1 so it holds seven rounds of 9-millimeter in a flush fit magazine plus one in the chamber it also comes included with an 8 plus 1 round magazine which has a little bit of a grip extension and adds an additional round of capacity but then you're talking about a less concealable package and remember the Glock 43 is a six round gun another positive of the shield the shield has the option for an external safety while the Glock 43 does not or you can get the shield 2.0 without a safety your in my opinion the mmp9 shield has better slide serrations Glocks got the same slide serrations that it has only at the rear of the gun it's had since 1983 they're just vertical slide serrations not very deep the M&P nine she liked all serrated serrations it's these wavy serrations that work very well at the rear of the gun and the 2.0 adds very small forward slide serrations to the pistol that wasn't on the shield we'll call it the shield 1.0 another thing I like about the shield it has better sights it comes with no vex style low profile no snag sights and they're metal so you have all-metal sights out of the box that are very low-profile and people pay a lot of money for these to add them on to say their Glock the 2.0 also adds a better trigger over the 1.0 you're looking at about a six and a half pound trigger pull which is almost the exact same as the Glock 43 now do I think the Glock triggers better or the Smith & Wesson triggers better I might give the edge to the Smith & Wesson even though they're very similar and they're both kind of crappy but remember this is a concealed carry gun this isn't a tournament shooting gun so that isn't necessarily the end of the world so there's your roundup of all the advantages of the shield 2.0 over the Glock 43 oh but wait I forgot another one you get all of those advantages but the shield 2.0 cost about $50 less you're looking at roughly $400 for this gun and four hundred and fifty dollars for the Glock 43 and if you can settle for the shield 1.0 then you're talking three hundred dollars for the shield 1.0 versus $400 for the 2.0 or 450 for the Glock 43 but I guarantee you the shield 2.0 prices are going to come down after this video because this still is a brand spanking new gun briefly the 2.0 added over the 1.0 I already mentioned the lighter trigger you're looking at about a six and a half pound trigger instead of a seven and a half pound you get the forward slide serrations and you get a much tackier grip on the 2.0 it's almost like skateboard tape instead of the wrinkled texture the soft rubberized drink old texture from the 1.0 I like the 2.0 grip much better but now that we've talked about the shield let's get to the Glock 43 now while both of these guns are very reliable and both of these guns only uses about 30 parts these are both very simple guns and simple tends to lead to reliability the Glock 43 has a tradition a much longer tradition of reliability and the Glock 43 is really that tradition condensed down into a single stack nine-millimeter package so you have the heritage of block reliability behind the Glock 43 you know this is a gun that's never going to fail that is in my opinion the biggest advantage of the Glock 43 and I say that with all due respect to Smith & Wesson's long tradition of creating reliable Auto loaders however the M&P series itself wasn't introduced until 2005 while the Glock has been in production since 1982 as you can clearly see they are very similar virtually identical designs both using a Browning locking system and a tilting linkless barrel mated with a polymer frame but you're also looking at a longer barrel in the same size package so both guns are about six inches long but with the Glock 43 you've got a 3.3 inch barrel versus the three inch barrel in the shield which is very interesting so you're gonna get a little bit maybe a marginal amount more velocity and power out of the Glock 43 but in the same size package and it might not be a huge advantage but that's still a plus speaking of additional velocity you've got polygonal rifling in the barrel of the Glock 403 which is a very expensive process while you have traditional lands and grooves rifling from the Smith & Wesson shield polygonal rifling has a number of advantages including increased barrel life and accuracy but you also get increased velocity over standard lands and grooves barrels I have no idea why that is apparently it just is also while you're only getting six plus one out of the Glock 43 versus seven plus one or eight plus one with the shield this is a smaller lighter gun you're talking about 0.4 inches shorter and it's about an ounce lighter and for that matter there are plenty of aftermarket manufacturers that make plus one and plus two extensions for the Glock 43 and it gives you the option the flexibility and if you think about that that is actually a pretty significant advantage over the Smith & Wesson shield because I've got flexibility I can carry this gun in its six plus one configuration that's going to be smaller than the shield but if I want to I can just use a seven plus one magazine or an eight plus one magazine that's going to be just as comfortable just as easy to shoot and it's going to be the same size as the shield when I add those extensions so really I think that's one of the 43 s major and often overlooked advantages over the shield is you've got the option to carry it deep carry as small as possible while with the shield you're stuck with a seven plus one gun no matter what unless of course you hack the frame and nobody wants to do that so everybody in the comments who's gonna say the shield's better because it holds another round not so fast and a minor consideration I think the magazine release on the Glock 43 is better you can see it's a flush fit but large pad it's still very easy to activate by comparison the shields is a lot smaller and seems to jut out a little bit more it's also very easy to use but I do like the magazine release on the 43 better and that's very subjective so that's a roundup of the advantages of the Glock over the shield and the shield over the Glock these are both fantastic guns you can't go wrong either way in my opinion if you're looking for a single stack nine-millimeter but which one's my favorite Hey they're both mine guys huge shout out to you for watching huge shout out to Ventura munitions they're my favorite gun dealer my favorite ammo dealer in the entire world I actually bought my Glock 43 with the gray frame from them they put a front Nightside on it it's awesome one of my favorite carry guns and they sent me all the ammo that I use in this test including a substantial amount of hollow points that I shot through the Glock 43 and the shield both of these guns a hundred percent reliable with hollow points which is very important patreon supporter subscribers everybody who watches and comments guys I really do appreciate it and I will see you next week [Music] [Music]
