[Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right guys it's five in the morning the next day we're lying getting ready to go line up wait for five hours at franklin's to get barbecue i'm exhausted are you exhausted that's awesome we got way too okay it's not it's like it's like 11 o'clock in the afternoon tim figured out that we could order early and pick up so we actually shouldn't have to wait in the line very much at all right right and 11's usually in the morning okay what did i say in the afternoon whatever technicalities that's it it's weird not seeing a line yeah so usually the line so it starts up the stairs and then it goes up the street so guys we're waiting on our food i decided to jump out and take a look around i got to be honest it's weird not seeing anyone here because every time i see this in videos the line is like down down the street oh i wish you guys could smell this right now it smells so good they got this down to a science like what how do what do we do we pulled up and then we went in a parking spot yeah pop the trunk and they're gonna put it in there so they just pop it in and we get out of here yeah that's it way better way better way better than waiting in line we're a lot more rested i feel like we hacked the system we did we're adding some last-minute stuff this is just on the app yeah they're on there on their website do any coleslaw uh yeah let's give it a shot we need some veggies absolutely this is what makes it this is what makes it healthy you know so you got the sauce some extra sauce some butcher paper some plastic wear if we need it okay so do we have to get out of here can we eat here we gotta get out of here let's do it that worked great we're on our way out of here we're probably here maybe 10 minutes 15 minutes waiting uh man maybe a little longer than that but it wasn't a big deal at all we're gonna go find a place to eat and we'll let you guys we'll let you guys know what we think about [Music] arrow k royal texas memorial stadium home of the longhorns how many times you've been in that stadium there 100 100 100 times especially during the national championship i feel like i'm betraying my razorbacks man i shouldn't be here this is wrong we can take more people inside this is the the main building where they had a sniper on top i remember that so whenever texas wins in a sport they light it lighted orange and after a game we went and jumped in this big fountain after beating so you were using soil yeah why why you keep doing this all right all right all right all right that's a good thing to say here all right all right all right all right guys we found a spot to eat this barbecue you're not gonna believe where we're at we're at the university of texas campus grounds hallowed grounds huh the winning tradition of university of texas welcome we're on the ut campus because it's the closest quiet place where we could eat right exactly and the pride in the winning tradition of ut football yeah cannot be entrusted to the weak or the timid what was the record last year oh we got next year we're coming back all right we got our spread here and we're going to dive in what do you think we should start with should we start with the brisket or we'd lead up lead into it i think save it for the sake for the end because it's the best best part of franklin okay let's try the ribs then okay oh oh my gosh falling apart look at that y'all cheers cheers you can taste the vinegar definitely taste the pepper definitely taste a good smoke like you said there's a kind of a vinegar flavor to it it is for most people this is going to be an overcooked rib well for people who are into competition this will be an overcooked rib for most people who come here just to eat just regular people who like follow off the bones these are cooked perfectly oh my gosh what do you think i love it i can eat a whole bunch of those this is the best rib we've had i think this is the best rib we've had yet yeah by a long shot i agree yeah oh my gosh all right let's try this brisket so this is also super tender it's a really nice it's a really nice smoke ring there this looks like it was cooked on an offset yeah great cheers so bad what can i say you're the best that i had now i can't help myself [Music] i don't even know what to say you know like like it's perfect it's perfect it's a whole other level it's it's so much better than anything we've had up till now yeah yeah this is amazing yeah you see why people wait for six eight hours i would i would yeah yeah but the really cool thing about it too is it's like a tailgate scene so you get to sit around in chairs and throw a football drink beer do all the stuff while you're waiting yeah it's fun it's a fun way yeah yeah i can see that then we got different sauces we got the espresso sauce oh we're gonna try that and the house sauce which one you have that's the espresso i think it's actually pretty good but it actually takes away from the brisket yeah isn't that weird because it's so good yeah 100 like this and it's not because it's a bad sauce it's a great sauce these are great two really good sauces um but i wouldn't do that to the this is the first place i wouldn't do that to the brisket right yeah it's crazy this is insane i'm so happy all right we're gonna finish this up um because this needs a moment and uh go smoke a cigarette yeah for sure this is really really good we'll see you guys at the next one which should be louis louis how do you say that mueller mueller's dealers mueller's like he's got a mule and he makes mules so he's a mueller okay louie mueller's hook him we're on our way to taylor texas to louis miller's my mueller's it's miller's according to guy fieri at least so we're looking forward to trying that we you some of y'all might be wondering why we didn't go to snows well unfortunately snows is closed so they had uh homecoming home homecoming homecoming in may so we didn't get to do mo it snows this trip but we'll just have to we'll just have to come back down here let's do it yeah we need another excuse to come down here and eat brisket [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign [Applause] what do you think is this working yeah i feel like we've come to the completion of an incredible journey [Laughter] that i don't want to end i don't want it to ever end no all right so we've got the brief rib we got the brisket we got the sausage and we got burnt ants what would you like to start with let's start with the burning let's start with the burning they're right here they're bite size they're fun size they're fun size they like the chicken nugget of the barbecue they really are well they look good yeah they do they've got a nice smoke green they got a good bark on the outside you can definitely see where they sauce them at the end i think these are going to be awesome and they are yes i love a good burn head mm-hmm it's really good really good how about sausage let's start with let's let's let's go with the sausage you always just want to go with the sausage let's do it okay so this is jalapeno sausage jalapeno sausage they put little flags in it laying it on the moon all right you get that in here we go there we go jalapeno oh this is really good it has a really nice texture it's got a good mouth feel it's not too dry it's not too juicy um like you said the casing yeah the casing is a little hard to chew through but it's awesome but no this is really good sausage yeah i really like this it's got a nice kick at the end um the sauce has a nice kick at the end too it does yeah and they even have a jalapeno sweet sauce so it's kind of like their table sauce with some jalapeno in it a little spicier that's good sausage all right let's get to the main event here we'll start with the brisket here so y'all just look at this like really really thick bark really well developed well built it's not it's not crusty it's actually kind of soft yeah it's kind of it's got a nice texture everything's very moist very tender i'm looking forward to trying this let's do this cheers cheers mmm that is a very that is a very good brisket yeah you like it yeah i love it yeah i think it's awesome it's kind of sweet they may put a little sugar in the wrap i don't know it's got a nice crust though great really good salt and pepper kind of what you'd expect this is this is the right way to cook it yeah yeah yeah it really epitomizes central texas yeah this is what i think of yeah all right and last but not least the beef rib that is so tender it fell off the bone earlier [Music] the dino rib mm-hmm what just take it with a pork that is just crazy i'm just gonna go in right here there we go there we go cheers cheers it's like a great steak yeah yeah they definitely build up that crust that is that is this is the most crusty of all the places we've had the most bark really good very very rich nice i don't know if you can pick that up on camera but nice like like smoke ring good smoke profile definitely salt lots of pepper um that's how you do it absolutely yeah man would we spend your 70 dollars all right i'm gonna put you on the spider of all the places we went where was the food the best franklin franklin's is number one for sure and worth waiting in line worth selling your soul or giving up your first child sorry will that is incredible i love you man but this louie mueller's lily millers why do i keep doing that it's because it's spelled mueller's so in your mind you want to call it that but he's from arkansas yeah we don't say much right anyway louie miller's and um and kreitz were both really really good runners-up yeah i agree yeah i'd put them neck and neck yeah i could go to either one of them they're very different this is like extremely tender it's got a really thick crust on it really a lot of bark and kreitz didn't feel that way it was like more of a less is more approach and bring the meat to the front yeah that's a great way to say it yeah blacks was cooked more like this but it wasn't seasoned the same there was less seasoning on it there was less you got less flavor even though the meat itself had a good texture and was cooked really well if you like tender barbecue yeah i think that's the order so i think it's yeah i think it's franklin's i think it's lily miller's and kreitz then blacks and then and then smitty's yeah yeah um all of them were really good except for smitty's on this day i think we established we caught smitty's on a bad day at the end of a bad day i would i'd love to come back and give them another shot i would too yeah because i've had it before and it's been really really solid yeah is that fair that's fair yeah well thanks for coming with me on this i really appreciate it it was a blast he's always good for a barbecue good time well so he's the one that drugged me out to to myron mixon's cooking school a couple years ago we had a blast made some
