hello everyone we are gaming by gaslight welcome to a slightly later episode today little problem with ideologies files not wanting to download some weird steam thing anyway let's jump on in brand new colony let's uh lost tribe rich explorer no let's go with crash landed we won't uh play with uh a lone person let's uh strive to survive reload any time jump on in uh you know what we'll name ideology assuming i didn't spell that wrong really i didn't 50 that's good let's let's have a slightly higher than normal population animal pirate gang huh yeah sure we'll chuck one of those in there we'll chuck one of those in there we'll get rid of the savage tribe and replace them with uh and sure we'll throw in some nudists because why not i mean we i guess we could play as a tribe of nudists but why would we we could but we don't have to and the whole reason we're starting a new colony instead of playing with the old one we were during the beta is because as far as i could tell after taking just a quick look you know trying to turn on dev mode and stuff like that i genuinely cannot change your ideology once it gets uh or once the game's going it'll probably be a mod to do something with that but you know it's not something we have access to right now so perfect time to start a fresh do i want to start in an extreme desert really gaslight man of your talents which is to say not many uh i kind of want to have an arid shrub land but my insistence of being next to a river you know what let's uh let's go at a regular desert near the ocean that sounds like fun and you know what i want a big map big big map there we go okay let's see so we we have a couple of ideologies right here we've got the awoken but i actually gotta write my own just i can write my own description i wonder if i can change this by clicking this lock on the current ideology and narrative when locked the narrative text will not auto regenerate if the ideologin is changed cool well cool all right blue neo islam womanly adranophagy the heck does that mean i mean a drawn androgynous maybe is where that comes in womanly female supremacy animal personhood does that mean we want to become animal people but we could always let's uh where oh these are the ones that actually exist to begin with i gotcha full mankindism that sounds nifty human primacy okay but let's make our own what do we want to be embodied theist the guy this whole first episode might be just making an ideology by the way so if you're not interested in that come back tomorrow the gods walk the planet like us yet they are powerful and immortal as we are not or hindu origin this is a variant of the embodied fiest ideologin is a descendant of ancient hinduism and may have very different precepts than those of thousands of years ago but symbols are the same resting interesting abstract theist the gods do not have physical form but are everywhere at once they know all and can do anything their will defines the moral structure of the universe that's interesting so it's like you're following ideas rather than things yeah that actually probably comes pretty close to how i would in real life view such things uh abstract theist ideology is the son of ancient islam and let's see here and christian i mean i guess that goes without saying uh there are no gods the moral structure of the universe is found in our grand narrative of social forces okay interesting so is that like if i mean that's not strictly atheist is it animist believing in spirits live in everything around us in the plants and animals rivers and trees sky and stars the moral structure of the universe springs from the necessity of respecting them that's a pretty good ideology right there arkist architects are the true gods they know the moral structure of the universe and serving them is how we will connect with it now this ties into like rimworld's uh background lore of arco text and whatnot which are like super advanced like god machines or something to that effect there's a whole fiction primer by the way if you've never read it uh really cool stuff and there's the buddhist uh origin this ideologin is a descendant of ancient buddhism it may have very different precepts i kind of like this they don't have like the idea of believing in the possibility of the eye of god as an idea or multiple gods as an idea rather than like an actual person assuming i'm understanding that correctly i mean yeah yeah i mean i guess that's probably where i fit i don't like necessarily believe there isn't a god don't necessarily believe there is if there is it's probably not like an like a person but an idea yes choose one to four memes to form the foundational ideas of this ideologin some of these have much more gameplay impact than others so animal personhood okay yeah it's just clicking on and off what is this animals have rights as humans do okay requires one of precepts so all right so this basically is like hey uh don't eat meat rancher racing animals is the right way raising plants to eat is not this is like only eating meat huh okay pain is a virtue virtue is shown for suffering of self and others i don't know so much about the suffering of others uh darkness bright light burns and destroys i mean i guess technically you looked at my skin you'd think i believed that but humans ought to live underground i mean i do like living underground cannibal blind sight but i mean we don't have to pick any of these tree connection trees are the essence of life locked rules plant specialists oh these are just like the high impact stuff silly me medium low let's see here supremist our people should dominate all others i don't really believe in that we stand for our own before others 100 sure i necessarily well i mean i guess depends on what you consider our own and you got to think about efforts too our people carry guilt from ages past others are more worthy i don't really believe in that i mean i believe in responsibility carrying that responsibility of the past but to like carry the guilt responsibility to make sure you know the bad things of the past never happen again let's go with loyalist i kind of like this i well then again what does it really do symbol or i'm getting crazy here uh slavery is honorable a person's rules to serve the community not there's not like a middle ground in this i guess honestly in reality i'm probably more cl well as a person i'm pretty anti-social but i do kind of believe in you know the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one uh none of that human primacy uh humans are the moral center of well we want to bond with animals transhumanism yes please i mean i suppose i should have a little look at that but yeah who who doesn't like making oh new buildables we can make hex carpets and tiles sleep accelerate yeah honestly i i buy into that i mean once the technology's there i have no problem whatsoever personally with the idea of like augmenting one's body i mean technically i mean i wear glasses so i'd be pretty stupid if i didn't believe in augmenting one's body to make up for physical frailty uh maybe not is that it just we're going to be tran i mean i feel like i should do ah what the heck we'll be loyalists we believe in protecting our own don't really believe in that yeah i you know i'll take that we believe in loyalty loyalty transhumanism and collectivism but have more but i think uh i think that's that's a good trio there i can't wait to see what mods add to this as well uh no we could be cannibals we could be open palm and welcome and it's like merging with tech i like that and that's like i think this is the color of the actual ideology logo but let's go with a slightly darker red i mean i guess red is a more aggressive color oh shoot and i screwed that up life do i can we have like yeah no gender it's an idea not a not a oh what is i don't like the name i want a different name but i like the uh uh uh what would be a good name a name for an idea oh wait why am i not just making a an ideology based on me my pawns can worship me sure why not get real egotistical a genderless gaslight a triangle with a circle in it is kind of like a gaslight why not which is to say if i were a god i would be a genderless being me the gaslight the person is a is a man but yes like the god transcends such things anyway moving on from there uh we do like pants i could just have no rules interesting uh body mods i suppose i don't know i guess improved is all we got biosculpting age reversal is demanded why get old one must have a once yearly age reversal treatment in the biosculptor pod okay you know what i'll take that execution respected of guilty slavery is horrible pants and know shirt we'll just say no rules i don't i don't care what anyone wears you know as long as uh moderate bigotry i think not uh appreciate it yeah you know what i can't uh i can't change that huh uh can't change that research is normal very fast we want super fast research yeah that's our like that's real important and again what does that mean oh no it just means we get a bonus for it okay uh i don't really care so we'll not i think that might be going a step farther than what i'm thinking of is it maybe hell yeah i mean if we don't really care what is the difference between free and proved initiated lovin is pa plus uh that and this is just sure why not if you know what if it makes people happier why not we'll go all in on that spouses wait we can have unlimited polygamy can be a thing do i dare do i dare organ oh i can add more rituals a dance party a christmas tree party i just have like an infinite uh what what's this machine jubilee needs one of these buildings okay so i can't actually do that all right we will remove it whatever sky lantern we can have a sky lantern festival what does this do social social ritual where people release sky lanterns that sounds fun we add more rituals uh a dance party sure why not we'll have all the rituals because we're cool like that okay uh anytime sure you know what i like that additional reward nearby faction good uh let's see if the social festival is fun or unforgettable we get a 50 chance of random recruit of the same ideology joining us i like it discover ancient complex okay just by dancing patriotic celebration no let's not call it that i regenerate the name dutiful celebration of gaslight sure stroke my ego a little more why not uh every third of juggist charge sci focus not sure why not i'm not you know what i'm not i could really spend all day of circles you know that's kind of a sciency logo that seems cool but then again you know that's kind of abstract i like that we'll take it building machine form unified pulser the box of artifice here you know what we'll leave those weapons we don't like neolithic tech venerated animals we could uh what do we want to venerate maybe dogs where's the lab oh there's a husky yeah we'll venerate all the animals what does this mean exactly animals considered by believers to hold a special spiritual or moral status yeah so don't slaughter them if that makes sense uh it will upset us if they die or if we eat their meat okay a few some lots of animals okay so this could cause could cause us some troubles maybe maybe we'll just let's have one just to play with it and let's see here do we prefer any hats you know what could bring bowler hats back in style let's say relaxed we like people to wear bowler hats and that's that's it could have some cool tattoos ah that mean oh geez we could go crazy with this none of those you can have some of those let's have actually punk makes fence doesn't it body tattoos miscellaneous uncommon no cannibal stuff rare tribal tattoos yeah we'll have tattoos be an uncommon thing but something that we do from time to time aaron beards can have punk beards can have all the beards really hair they make that more common bribal yeah we'll say rare okay crazy times yeah look at all that okay there we go oh my god that's perfect right off the bat let's see here no shooting i don't really like uh i don't really like that and you can't do dumb labor you would be perfect my friend if only it wasn't for your or horrible horrible ideas there oh geez you're you're in a bit of a rough position there aren't you a pyromaniac you know those are actually not you're capable of doing stuff get rid of him and jefferson can't do the fire fighting what we'll randomize you yeah now you can't uh now you're not incapable of anything we don't have a good construct uh constructor though you're a cannibal i don't know if i like that sickly that could be a problem uh we need a good you know what you're passionate about it that's good enough and you know what we've spent enough time i am going to and just uh cut free there we are back back on the rim and we spawned right next to an ancient danger which we will promptly immediately open not really i'm not going to do that i'm not that suicidal what about you you're really good at shooting so maybe i want to give you the revolver you can't shoot at all so i don't really want to give you any guns oh we started with a dog oh let's go ahead and allow everything and yeah you're just standing there i want you to just trigger this and by trigger it i mean just a little warning oh there's a road and there's cars why an ancient broken car and what is this an ancient car frame or in mad max times baby an ancient vending machine if only a war walker shell most of the armored shell of a war walker it appears to have been torn off by some colossal weapon system all the valuable parts were looted and the rest is badly deteriorated okay there we go yay on you know this is a nice place to grow possibly an ancient large crate i wonder if we can get anything by deconstructing that yeah i think i want to start or to build our home near the water and you know what we kind of have like part of a building around here so let's uh let's go ahead and start dropping all of our stuff in this general vicinity and oh yeah you can't uh you can't move these things in vanilla can you all right so let's uh let's think of how we want to rupture this building here we don't have any bricks right now but that's okay i guess i'll have people maybe haul stuff all right as i suspected oh yeah you can start doing stuff please all right so we'll haul everything over to the corner are any uh any granite walls around here that we can deconstruct wow an ancient kitchen sink or is uh people living around these parts apparently at some point and i kind of want to keep this but you know what we probably what the heck is this a jet engine what implications could that have let's see double like the bed this got changed a little bit the shelf definitely got changed got some oh i get it based on your ideology you get some uh there's like certain variations in certain furniture at least that's how i'm choosing to perceive some of this [Music] all right so yeah we want to we want to break this and we want to try and build some kind of starting structure then we'll uh i couldn't try and make this side let's keep a bit of space for the water is made of granite let's uh replace them with steel just because steel is easier to open see here four four bobbity boop boppity boop there we go okay that's that's the good stuff right there and while everyone is what is this oh and that's just showing their ideology i gotcha five and six i want to make sure we have a couple of doctors doing important doctor stuff this seems reasonable if you ask me uh i'll make this a high ish priority for everyone will be our top miner you'll be the top constructor if you have nothing better to do you can do that and kind of have the same idea with growing gonna be hard to grow stuff in this uh god forsaken help it but we will do our best oh geez what am i gonna do about uh i'm pretty sure yeah there's no way in vanilla still too airform i think is that is that a true statement am i making that up let's just type it in terraform nope there is no way soil yeah you can't make soil not a vanilla feature gotcha which means if we want to have a pasture we will be in a somewhat tricky position well or maybe not and i guess it depends do we really want animals anytime soon answer is not right now though for traveling around that would probably be a a good idea and let's see here structures we want steel doors door and door i guess doors here as well right good so that'll it'll take care of all of that let's uh let's go ahead and make sure we've claimed all of this just to make sure it is ours the world must know that it belongs to us let's take a peek and see how everyone's doing he is happy to be wearing a bowler hat awful table unsightly environment minor pain why are you in minor pain because you have an aching scar on your you know i didn't grab i should have grabbed you a weapon of some kind shouldn't have okay go ahead and grab that and then you can hold this and when you are done they're going to be up close so you should probably wear the armor and no one will worry about the hat for now okay so it's all coming together neutral fungus all right so there's some new stuff to grow tanktoria what the heck is this genetically engineered flower-like crop which secretes a self-altering dye oh okay so that's how we can dye clothes now is that just in vanilla or is that a mod only thing might be a mod only thing happy time will tell but let's take a look what else is there that might be on the new side might be hard to tell at this early stage of the game we can build skull spikes though ideology does not terribly approve of them dominant style totemic large image drawn on the ground and reinforced with metal edges it is used as a focus for rituals gonna want a temple at some point is what i'm hearing a reliquary for our relics ah here we go a styling station a table with a mirror and styling tools people can use this to change their look surely that's not a mod only feature kind of hard to tell what stuff might be mod only and what stuff was added as a part of like the full 1.3 update time will tell on that front i don't think we really need to worry too much this early on uh yeah we'll leave the crates for now i kind of wonder if there's like a chance that these crates might have something in them actually you know with that in mind let's let's find out well it says it's empty so i guess it's it's just good for the steel still useful to know right a little bit upset like i can understand that i suppose it would be in our interests what do we have lying around now we've got a bit so i think it might be worth building a cool table but maybe i should only build a small table for now and a couple of chairs i build four and we should of course start building beds we could just build double beds but i don't i don't know if that's really the best idea to start with double beds let's see how everyone's doing wearing plastial knife wait wait noble and despised wait hang on a second here but wielding a knife such a detestable weapon wait is it because it's a a neolithic weapon that must be it right shoot well i guess there is a lesson to be learned there you know what that's okay that's okay we will we will learn we can eventually get fancy super weapons i mean we can make it so oh geez excuse you good sir also i should probably tell you to attack get in here uh excuse me my good sir let's deal with this cougar oh dear and nails will probably be fine oh god run run necklace run okay yes let uh let rat distract the cougar also it's kind of convenient that this animatry is right here though maybe not that convenient since there is that's what i like to see i'll let it bleed out because we don't really have anywhere to store our uncooked meats which actually i guess that heat's gonna be a problem isn't it oh well that's uh that's future gaslight's problem you know what we might as well maybe i should be making this stuff out of steel instead seeing as still well steel isn't necessarily going to be easier to come by is it i just choose to believe that it might be on account of us yeah being in the desert though you actually get a surprising amount of wood out of cacti so we're not in a uh a terrible position of course with all these ruined objects we're reasonably okay as well so that's you know major win i dare say now here we are day two and we're focusing on these instead of building beds for our colonists i'm sure that's not gonna go horribly awry on us there's still wood lying around up here there is not so we're gonna have to actually start hunting for wood i could destroy this but that feels like a dangerous a dangerous game to play right there so it'll upset uh our colonists for the foreseeable future how long is this thing gonna bleed out okay i guess that answers that question anyway we've been going for half an hour about half of which was just building our ideology in the first place so i guess this is a good spot as any to maybe wrap things up and we'll kind of continue with working on our beloved colony here uh who is our best constructor that is nicholas i might have him prioritize just deconstructing all of this when he wakes up and so we can finish the walls so that all our stuff outside doesn't keep deteriorating as that would be a very big problem anyway yeah that's i think this is where we're going to wrap things up so until the next time as always thank
