Ford Excursion on the Edge

whoa good morning lizzy good morning you know where we're going yet i have no clue nobody tells me anything i don't even know where we're going so we got a call for a ford excursion that has slipped off the road and is perched at a precarious angle so they sent us some pictures and uh looks like it's going to take probably two rigs to get them pulled out so we got paul from fab rats heading over he's actually going to meet us vail probably that's where we're headed to meet the customers vail and then he's going to show us where on bull mountain this uh vehicle is stranded anyway we're going to go up there and see if we can get it out good morning folks it's early and it was a little bit cold this morning with the wind but we'll go get them out it's actually west of gun lock on a mountain called bowl mountain okay i don't know where it is i'm going to send you my time to get to veo and then you can click me your time to go to vail and we'll see how far off we are you must be my contact here okay which way are we headed we'll be heading that way i'm gonna run in here grab some breakfast oh yeah this is what i'm talking about this is breakfast banana cream pie couple bean burritos cheetos we just left vail we're headed west towards gun lock unfortunately we didn't stop and get one of veo's famous pies but maybe on the way back paul is behind us about 30 minutes maybe 40 minutes so i'm just gonna give him turn by turn every time we we make a course correction i'll just send them a text to let them know what it is and hopefully we have enough service that that plan works do we have a backup plan uh to stay on the road until they get here and then we'll see if we don't have service then i guess we have to wait that's a terrible plan that puts us behind schedule and over budget then maybe the boss should come up with a better one oh my how's your breakfast it's all right we are out in the middle of nowhere with no cell service so hopefully we've got paul and rudy on the right road and we're on a cliff and the road is getting more sketchy [Music] i'm glad we brought two trucks every once in a while we get vehicles stuck yeah yeah some people do it better than others that's chilly this is nice it is so cold i am freezing so i've got all the stuff to make this a like a plug in sitting in the shop i've had it for a couple of months but we're still doing it this way that makes you unhappy i'm sorry it's not bothering me enough to fix it yet is it a cliff right down there it's not quite a straight drop off but it slopes pretty good for probably 400 yards or so are you guys gonna make it ready it's a lot easier with two hoods [Music] somebody said there would be more room there this is less room by far all right so here's what i'm thinking i'm thinking you right like this okay we get lizzy in there slow gently reversing what if we snatch block off a tree so we can pull up with one of them hard we could i didn't even think about that big cedar tree right there will hold if we do that then i'll just flip around and come right here then yeah that's good what do you think about that pull the back just barely first from where you're at and then i'll hook on and you pull the same time oh you want me to grab the back right now maybe just pull it up a couple feet we can see if it will work i see what you're saying um it's in neutral right now okay and maybe let me just watch it close yeah here lizzy wind this around that cable just wrap it around it right here just throw it over it so if the cable breaks it doesn't whip if that anybody out of that tree you don't want to be there chop sliver pulling the front down back it off okay lizzy jump in this i'll give you more money because i'm a gentleman and i don't want it to kill her go ahead and start it up [Applause] you got oil pressure okay what am i doing put your seat belt on i don't think you'll be able to pull it out okay turn your wheels hard to the left okay now just wait for further instructions there's still velda dirt on that thing hooked around this axle we can you got a soft shackle yeah another brand new one yeah that one hasn't even been stretched yet [Music] okay put it in reverse okay and then as you go just give a tiny bit of gas don't go don't go churning it can you see me if i'm standing where cafe is not very good okay um okay just a tiny bit don't spin your wheels and keep keep turning your wheel further and further to the left [Music] i'm not helping you one little bit my witch died nervous yet no i was just chilling [Music] are you kidding me still no it's not clicking well this is not good just i could take a nap like this try that okay so the problem is right here paul we've got quality equipment and technically you can take as long as you want because i just have to go back to work after this this is why i don't like winches i know i could do a better job and make it work better and it would be good but i like things that you can just continually cobble and they kind of work good that's that's so it's not the stupid wing nope the wind is back to being okay okay we'll we'll give it a try here now that i'm pulling the to leave the front end where it is and just work on the back end yep i think so if we can pull the backing up so you can leave the wheels turned like that okay so you want me just in the hitch yeah and try it again okay a lot a lot less gas now just put it in reverse but don't give it any gas here just listen to me give a tiny bit of gas that's too much that's too much the front wheels aren't your four-wheel drive's not working at all is it shifted into four-wheel drive yeah and the hubs are locked so we're dealing with a two-wheel drive truck so leah let me hook to this side of the frame rail and see if we can get that to work well i was going like this and then i started going like this but it's okay i'm still alive i can get to the front here and that way i'm not in front of her let's hook to this right [Music] she's not going anywhere with that winch hooked on to it oh yeah put it in neutral and just come out uh yeah just turn the key out this is i'm glad she's not in there anymore why your back tire started coming off the ground yeah i know losing an excursion no big deal listen lizzy big i was like sitting like this and then like we just like started pulling stuff and i'm just going down like this and then this tree branch we started coming back and it's like in the back window and then it started like coming up towards mine and like the leaves were like poking in it poked me in the head it was great i like her wheels turned like the problem is that messes you up yeah it pulls it backwards yeah but if i was up there it'd pull it straighter this one didn't seem as crazy as boulder mountain but i'm starting to think it's worse i would prefer a lot bigger tree but this is gonna do i prefer less bushes too all right we're hooked every time i help matt that's the outcome what i heard i think this is better i think so i like the angle a lot more [Music] oh let me get you connected to this back bumper because i think your rope's causing us some problem now on that tire yeah we'll get we'll get lizzy back in it let you guys scream and this is the signal no stop all right okay go ahead and tighten it up [Music] [Music] so turn to the right turn to the left [Music] [Music] [Music] one well that's good i'm glad it's out i made a very good decoration out here we did it got it out all right guys we have shirts for you guys what sizes you want i like them here's yours that job did not go as smooth as i thought it was going to okay that was a battle so the plan right now is lizzy is driving the excursion down to vail and then they'll have somebody come and pick it up that's uh that's where we're headed now so we'll see you at vail pies world famous they're closed on tuesdays that's awesome well we got there and looked at the situation and then waited for a while for paul brynn and rudy to get there and then we had a little trouble pulling it out but we got it
