Fix an ABANDONED CAR or WALK TO TOWN - Revival Challenge

hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome to another episode of junkyard diggs today i'm joining you as a voice over because this video was never supposed to be its own video however the vehicle we revived turned out to be totally deserving of its own episode so we decided to give it one before we get started let's crank the clock back for a little bit of context somewhere outside the town of sigourney iowa lies a farm filled with old vehicles that have been abandoned in a shed we caught wind of this and immediately went down to check out the collection and let me tell you it's quite the collection we struck a deal with the family to help clean out the property and decided we would most likely return in the spring however as luck would have it a couple weekends later we had a burst of warm air come through iowa so i bought a 500 camper cleaned it out loaded myself angus and my brother into it drove 120 miles and lived out of it for the next four days while we got as many cars running as possible the camper revival is its own episode and it's a really fun one to watch so i suggest you go check that out [Applause] [Laughter] however as you can see the only thing we took with us was the camper we had no vehicle to drive in the town for parts and food every day we set up camp using only the resources we found around us and as soon as that was done it was time to find ourselves a mode of transport there were cars all over this property every door we opened had two or three behind it every lean two had one shoved under it in the corner somewhere we presumed a lot of these cars were running and driving when parked and a lot of them had next to no miles on them after getting a pile of keys from one of the family members and scouring around for some supplies we set to work on finding our vehicle for the weekend all right we've got some stuff for camp everything looks like we're gonna be able to figure that out over there next thing we need is a vehicle to drive back and forth from town all week because we're not taking the boot mobile i've got six sets of keys from the family and then the rest of them potentially have keys in them let's go around the booster pack see what all fires up see if it's got a brake pedal see if the fuel pump works and then right whatever we find out on the windshield if we don't choose to take that car so the family at least has a quick reference to what needs what let's make it happen it looks like we got six more options here uh angus you want to check those three yep i'll check these i'll always start with the easiest one i guess um door opens check [Applause] nothing in the ignition that would be too easy dang it key fob key fob it's for buick that's the start keys what is that it's a keys they are the right keys no battery maybe this is an option we've got one with a key it's missing a mirror though let's try the other two maybe something miraculous happens it's got some thumbtacks oh look at the headliner i think i know what the sun types are for yep let's start with this guy it's got a continental kit 84 i missed something though [Music] there's so key bodies chainsaw of course of course there's a chainsaw well they these both have keys a battery i think i found his actual daily i'm gonna get this was the car that was actually driven oh yeah there's no stuff in it there's also no keys and there's also true so far i've got no floor keys oh that's a five liter fuel injected ford no battery but you see anything in there oh hell yeah dude there's a bench in here i got a car on my side i got a monte carlo and keys and a woodchuck somewhere that thing is buried so this might have been his workshop at least at one point there's a lot more there's some overalls this car is buried in the ground there's three cb antennas on the wall there's so much cool stuff that you can't get anymore here west coast mirror brand new in the box west coast mirror brand new on the floor okay well i think that's all the cars i just gotta choose the best one that'll make the easiest revival oh no wait oh the battery's not connected there's a chance this is a weird car kevin i made an adult europe came and peed on this car help the hood opened the wrong way it doesn't look like it's been sitting very long i think this might be our best bet oh hell the battery's not even hooked up maybe it'll fire it a yeah one concern i uh smell old gas so i don't know if it's got a leak so we gotta have like four or five things go right here for us to have a car we need a battery that will take a charge because we didn't bring any side posts i think everything here is a side post we need a car with keys we need a car with brakes and we need a car with a working fuel pump that's going to be the big one let's see if this thing does it [Applause] oh look at that dash this thing's only got 26 000 miles on it will it i crank hear a fuel pump let me look oh there's a lot of rust wow there's a lot of rust and there's gas that's a no the tank has rusted out exhibit a all right there's some note cards that were left in the camper i'm gonna grab those and we'll find a pen somewhere and write down what's wrong with everything leave it in the car for the family did you know i don't know if it's true i heard a story once united states spent like a million dollars to make a pen that worked in space and the russians used a pencil [Applause] that adds up 22 000 rusty underneath fuel tank rusted out no fuel pump all right on the next one so this one's carbureted isn't it i got the lean burn system it sure is there's probably no way in hell we get this thing to start but we can crank it and see what happens it smells like the limo it really does it must be able to mouse piss [Applause] sure bad connection [Applause] we got a can of brake clean in the truck uh yeah we do oh that's not uh that's not brake cleaner don't crank it right this is engine degreaser oh [ __ ] [Laughter] no i bought a box of brake clean did they give me a whole box of engine degreaser i'll go check the other two we have i'm reading it this time brake parts cleaner oh i'm doing it go for it yep sure is let's see if he'll pump any fuel up that's too buried yep brake lines are blocked wait do that again no it breaks yep it's back here kill it before it starts to fire all right we can mark that one off as runs no breaks all right next up buick park ave i hope it doesn't run how bad could it be stinks oh it's still in my lungs i'm gonna go back to the poop camper hey you know it's only fair i keep being the one to turn the key every time i think i should probably be a nice person to let you take the easy job sit there i opened the poop cap all right fine it's such a vulgar smell what even is it are we even considering this thing no i just want to fill out the card for them well there's a good side post battery if we need it dang it i'm gonna write down bad exhaust [Music] oh [Music] [Music] i think we might be also looking at bad head gasket yeah there's a is that coolant or oil oh that's coolant that smells like straight up someone poured a jug of antibodies up my nose all right we're gonna make a card and move on to the next one oh this thing's nice inside this one has keys does that keys green buick is there i can side posts that's i'm sure the way they intended that to use miles hey horn work sorry i really didn't mean to do that all right listen for a fuel pump [Applause] i hear something recycle it three times ready sure dang it this one has no battery so it's got nothing to clamp to do you know where those adapters got put yeah they're in the sink in the bathroom why are they in there because that's where i put them well if we get cold tonight we got a heater another heater oh we're taking this paper towels that's what we forgot to buy at walmart perfect we're set again a dash full of sunglasses all the warning lights are up in this ribbon it's actually really cool so what'd you do this weekend i guess i worked on grandma's car seven times all of grandpa's cars ready go for it uh [Music] is that oil that's just oil that one's oil runs good oh yeah all right so this one's probably not an option to drive however it does have four brand new tires inside of it that probably doesn't even spin we'll come back to this another day really will we though i think we might fall off with the fire though oh yeah she's been on fire okay well oh look at all the wires back there too that have been melting all the flag wire's gone looks like yeah this this car burned down go boom at this point we were running out of options quick on top of the fact that all the cars outside had their catalytic converter stolen we still hadn't been able to find anything with a working brake pedal as the sun began to set we decided to give it a go with the last reasonable car left outside all right we're gonna use our last bit of light for the last outside car the s-10 [Applause] let me pop the uh air cleaner okay but you should have power now i got lights yep ominous here let me help you actually that didn't help at all but thank you come on please please have brakes oh my god yep it's tbi and oh i feel a brake pedal all right you should be good [Laughter] someone came and saw all the catalytic converters off this farm yep i don't think you're a fuel pump or not here give her a squirt oh god all right fire mcgee right here yeah here pump [Music] [Music] sad what is happening come on girl you can you can get out of it you can do it [Music] that was a big fireball it's fine it's got bad gas on fire are we good we're not on fire i'm on fire ricky bobby [Music] maybe a little more but let's see if it moves [Music] that was vile hey any chance any of the plug wires not eaten by mice i'm not running on six that's for sure so [Music] so goddamn are you ready not really big fireball i'm sure it's not that on fire it's not come on you old girl you can do this now she's running it's just made to burst into flames let me try it again [Music] gentlemen our chariot oh wait i have one concern what's that there's three of us in only two seats that's right cameraman don't count yeah dude this thing [Applause] we might need to drive this thing home with us i don't know what burst into flames and then suddenly it keeps backfiring yeah it's it's lean but once it backfired it must have cleared one of those injectors up and then it suddenly ran lift flip our whiplash actually kind of helped it took a little bit of a [Music] charge yep there it is indeed no alternating well that's a problem in it big sad now big sad now well if we find another cbi on this farm we'll be good to go problem is there's a distinct lack of tbis on this farm all right let's get her moved sure [Music] [Music] [Music] he needs fresh gas not a battery charger let's get this on and get this thing charged up tomorrow and maybe we'll burn off some of this looks like it's all paper oh here's our firing dude it's a giant rim in the back we're set it's working um fully charged well rolly pulley in the gauge the old school ones go to full charge when they are flat so if you turn that some bishop to see there's no it's confusing because it's manual automatic automatic just put on manual it'll be right yeah if the camera's on fire it'll be over here i mean we got like 17 more we can choose from so i think spencer's wiring in an outlet for us right now to plug the camper the poop camper in human poop from the camper it smells like hog [ __ ] because they put it on the field next door yeah did not being able to drain the camper costas anything nope the air smells like poop anyway oh i think it cost us something i need angus's dignity at that point we set up camp gonna get this s10 over to the dumpster and get it cleaned out the best we can see if it's something we can use for the weekend we had the battery charger on it all night it said it took a charge let's see if it starts maybe she just ain't a big fan of cold starts the injectors might also be like totally gummed up from that bad fuel come on you gotta be all reliable for us we've got another couple [Music] [Music] start the day ah that's funny let's see if she fires back up again get it over the dumpster and start cleaning it out oh it's got a check engine light oh no we could have foreseen well we just checked it there was an engine do the wipers [Music] [Music] look how solid it is all right let's spend a little time get this thing cleaned out so she'll take to the road is it whale on jenny no daddy's got a bass boat we've tried everything else this is what we'll jam out to on our way to town kevin found some sweet sunglasses there's so much stuff you look like an old man we gonna make it i got my driving gloves i got my glasses i'm gonna be all right if we having trouble just call up the good old boys on the cv breaking breaker19 our truck's on fire over the heck is this i found a full tool kit still in the wrapper 27 piece socket kit we'll hang on to that when we break down there's 900 rolls of toilet paper white state bank yes uh this is a calendar from 2000. it's still good yeah it's older than me one of these years the days will line back up and we'll be back at it again we have a free calendar hell yeah with savings i found this poster behind the seat oh [Applause] 1997. all right we're going to finish cleaning this thing out and then see if we get some real fuel in it see if it helps it run better where the hell did you find that it was behind the seat of the s10 where'd you find that hat it was behind the cvs-10 this place is great so many things need help please call police what's the other side garfield all right well kevin finishes cleaning out the sm uh we're gonna look for an air pressure gauge to see how full our tires are and probably gonna need an air compressor so most obvious place to start is the well i found an air compressor so now i just need okay i found the air pressure gauge okay well that's done i move on to the next thing now too easy there's a bunch more oh my goodness so many things oh yes five perfect hit the road you know what they say the solution to pollution is dilution we're gonna put that into effect right now maybe i'd like to refer to our sign [Laughter] a few gallons of fresh gas let's let it idle through and clean up everything in the lines [Music] [Music] [Music] yeah let's see if the cooling system comes off the tap and our thermostat opens but if it does get the iron stick here we're going to take a little test drive all right before we go to town i'm going to test that alternator to see if it's the alternator or if it's a charging system like the circuit i've got the multimeter on it i just need to find a piece of wire oh rare they're even jumpers with alligator clips this [ __ ] looks made up this is just way too convenient all right okay so this is a gmcs alternator it has four prongs as you can see this one uses two wires i just dealt with one of these on the uh grand national it used one what we're going to do is look at this and see how it wants to be wired and google it and see how it wants to be wired run 12 volts to the s and it will charge and l is going to be your dash light now i do believe this is actually not charging because the uh dash says 12 volts and the charge light is on so that's that's a double indicator right there let's fire this thing up watch our voltage to confirm and then see if we can power the alternator already made a manually difference [Music] that's a no-go on the alternator and put power to the throngs and nothing happens so our alternator itself is bad let's see if we get one of them ordered i doubt it sounds just like your camaro exactly because it's i mean also a straight pipe 2.8 so it makes sense no chance you guys saw a generator anywhere because we could put one in the trunk hook up a battery charger and drive the town i haven't seen any generator no dang let's call the parts store see if we got an alternator get that ordered and then do our first revival see if we need parts for that do it on one trip we called the parts store to get our parts ordered to realize we don't know what year this thing is angus started digging through the glove box to find our exact year and he found this and handed it to me and said holy [ __ ] look inside so i'm going to vehicle title it is a vehicle title oh oh that's our other truck dude isn't that red that is awesome i also found this dz catalog where he probably ordered a lot of his parts from got some cool 90s trucks in there like check out this tricked out ranger here's the title to this truck so we own it yeah we own it now sweet i think they actually have to run it through the attorneys because oh score for the camper new in the package oh yeah this is an old photo there's that fifth ave i really liked inside the barn yeah 1999. the barn looked a lot better back then hey thank you the green truck hey it's turned around so it ran then 99. look at that truck though that thing is pristine you look like you're straight out of 1986. what are you doing on my property i can't say [ __ ] after this we set the work reviving the 73 big block powered gmc 1500 on the other side of the door you can check out this truck in its own video but there is one part where we had to use the s10 to get it out of the shed oh [Music] we'll hook a real chain up [Music] [Music] that's it actually work [Music] good [Music] i guess we'll drop our anchor right here i did i was for sure that i was gonna break so i like looked at jesse i'm like [Music] that's impressive at least one part of the rope was good at this point we figured ah hell the truck's been running for a few minutes let's go drive it and see if we can get it up the temp and make sure our cooling system is operational [Music] i think we're ready for a trip to town we are finally ready to make our first voyage into town with the s10 we've been working on this truck we need a fuel pump you can check all that out in its own video right up here here's some rags there's some armor all what do we have to clean the window man you see stuff like 17 times until you need it again then you can't find it where was the washer fluid it was in the back pull up a couple more fuel cans or in town that's the other thing we're going for anymore oh hell yeah chain tools chain tools windshield washer yeah we also have the squeegee and starburst thing oh hell yeah [Applause] at the bottom it's got a chip in the windshield throw it away this visor is dangerous and inconvenient but i do love truck accessories maybe we'll hit a uh we'll hit a car wash while we're in town yeah yeah if the brakes give out i'm sure we will wow all right so we've got about an hour of light left oh and we have an hour driving and supper and car wash and uh change and ultimately alternator and probably swap batteries somewhere on the highway let's make it happen we hopped on our phone here and typed in the address to go all the way to o'reilly's and my phone's had the wrong start point for like the last six hours and it finally updated the gps and went oh you're not 25 miles away you're like 40 miles away and we went oh god so we called the riley's again said hey joe i talked to you earlier and he's like yeah yeah i'm like hey do you have any shops you deliver to closer to gurney he goes because i know exactly who this is i will meet you at casey's in sigourney so this this sales rep at o'reilly's is gonna personally deliver all of our parts to casey's because he watches the channel joe you're freaking awesome let's go find a car wash and some food and meet him there here we go boys oh boy oh i never put my seatbelt on he's silly [ __ ] you i'm gonna do that yeah good luck sorry if this got that's my pad sorry if this gets personal you guys want some glasses i would suggest it because there's going to be a lot of crap flying around what's up those fit around your glasses way too well i think that's what they're for that makes sense all right god knows the last time this thing drove do we have brakes still yeah mostly battery light's not on but i know it's not charging i'm not going to say this drones but i'm going to say i have to open the window just so that i can like hang half my body out and we all three fit in here all right here we go boys wow what my ears are vibrating we should buy some earplugs ah yeah hey surprisingly no flat spots in the tires oh i thought it had just died i was like oh oh it's dead no 150. 11 11 make a wish i hope we live well you're not supposed to say it out loud then it won't come true oh [ __ ] well i mean the hater works it rides pretty smooth although as soon as i said that a new wobble did just develop oh boy dude that's fine it's just a tire that's about to explode yeah that's okay we got the spare we got the jack we're good so did you check the air in the spirit no no i didn't okay i think we're only a couple miles out i don't even know what i don't know i mean either i just know that we're still doing 55 supposedly this thing is a gurglematic 900. i'd also like to point out that this heat is really hot yeah actually really hot i'm gonna turn it off i'm seeing whatever the line between 210 and 100 is which doesn't make sense unless it's got a 160 thermostat okay we're one mile out we still have brakes good news [Music] that's 30 mile an hour oh what have we here nova nova we too dabble in the classic of cars sir you just cannot tell that at this exact time i waved and he did not wave back joe from o'reilly's just met us at his shop here in town gave us an alternator and the parts we need for the revival we're filming right now we're gonna get this alternator on there we got a full tank of gas i'm going to see if they got any glass back mufflers or something in stock to bolt onto that sumbitch and be back on the road all right that's all it took out with the old let's go in with the new done all right belts on all the grooves looks good let's fire it up and see if we got an alternator assuming it starts on bolt gauge yeah 14 volts we did it unfortunately whoever stole the catalytic converters off the farm barely knew how to use the sawzall and mangled the hell out of our exhaust pipe they also cut it in like five different spots there was no way we were gonna get a muffler on instead we gurgled our way down to the car wash to give the truck a bath so so she's going to clean up pretty good keep at this for a couple minutes and we'll be back [Music] ha there you go here's your scale model 1500. [Music] with new parts installed and the truck cleaned up we set off back to the farm to finish up our work for the night [Music] all right as you can see things have changed we drove the town got ourselves some parts washed up the truck filled it up hearts too washed up the we got about five minutes of light left maybe let's go ahead and get that pump on there and see if we can get this truck to move some fuel [Applause] well gentlemen it's the end of day two two oh wow i'm already confused we are quite tired worked up until about about ten so at this point we're having one of our favorites macaroni and cheese with hot dogs and then at the end you throw in whole can of cream of mushroom don't knock it till you try it it's like two bucks to make and delicious anyway yeah we're gonna finish supper and go to bed happy thanksgiving everyone for 2022 we'll see you guys in the morning or will we there's always a chance we don't see you in the morning and we're dead there's only one way to find out and that's to subscribe the next day we spent working on the big block square body and a 75 monte carlo at the end of the day we drove the square body into town to wash it up just like the s10 while i was busy with that jesse and angus decided to use this time to modify the s10's appearance we took a vote we say no more hubcaps the truck looks arguably better after that we delivered the big block square body to one of a kind customs and hopped in the s10 to head back to sigourney for supper all right so we just dropped off the square body and one of a kind customs check them out facebook instagram one kind customs iowa and uh we drove the s10 all the way there drove it all the way back and here we are all a subway aka supper and a chance to poop because we're tired of cooking over garbage fires let's go get some food boyos okay i'm so tired i'm so hungry i'm so full of pain so [Music] so well that's it for the old s10 for now this wasn't supposed to be a revival but it actually ended up being our most successful revival and [ __ ] we've probably done almost probably 100 miles you think yeah it's a it's a sizable drive to town and we went what four times four or five times yeah all the way down to the shop once so this thing turned out to be excellent i'm excited to get the titles in our name eventually and bring her home yep should be a good truck hope you guys enjoyed this episode it wasn't supposed to be one in the beginning so it was probably a bit sloppy and there wasn't a lot of tech basically we just violenced it out of the hole and then threw some marvel mystery and fresh gas in it put an alternator on and went and it's been the best little vehicle we could ask for for getting around except for the fact that we were three wide and it was loud as hell i was just gonna say i could have asked for something better yeah any of those and literally anything else was the only one that had breaks keys and wanted to run well we'll see you soon old girl and we'll see you guys right here next week on another episode of jungkook days peace
