hey how's it going guys it's Nate here and welcome back to yet another fallout 4 investigation today I'd like to talk about what very well may be the most mysterious set of characters that appear in the entire franchise the zenith aliens since fallout 1 debuted in 1997 every single new game in the series yes even at 76 has included some reference or allusion to an extraterrestrial faction of invaders it started with simple Easter eggs and minor jokes by the developers that didn't seem to offer much real narrative significance I mean it all seemed just to be for fun but as more and more new games released the lore on the aliens has progressively expanded to the point where we now know quite a lot about them and it's become obvious that they indeed have an important part to play in the wasteland and are likely behind far more than we ever thought still one question is always lewd what exactly do the sentence what like why are they here inserting themselves into the affairs of earth initially many suspected they were simply here to study our planet and were mere observers however as we'll get into in this video that's clearly not the case they seem to have more malicious plans on their mind and believe it or not records suggest the governments of the pre-war world were already struggling with these invaders before the bombs went flying in today's video we're gonna break down all of the alien appearances across the franchise from fallout 1 to 76 and along the way point out some interesting notes things you missed and some common things we can identify to paint a bit of a picture in the end once all said and done and were able to assemble all of the pieces full not quite 100% solved the mystery and figure out why the settings are here and what their plans are but we will come very close and develop an explanation I think most will consider pretty acceptable anyway without any further ado with let's do further and find out what in Adams name is going on with fallouts aliens now in videos like this ones where we look at a topic that appears in multiple Fallout games I always have trouble trying to decide where to start at first when I wrote the earliest draft in my script I wanted to begin by just going over references to the Zetas in chronological order meaning we would start with fallout 1 then moved to fallout 2 etc unfortunately I found that became really confusing for reasons we'll get into later and instead I think the best way to kick off today's journey is by assessing what fallout 4 and especially its nuclear world DLC have to say about our alien friends as this game provides quite a bit of contextual information that will make understanding what the other franchise entries reveal so much easier thus let's put on our work boots and hop into the Commonwealth so after the sole survivor has reached level 20 the next time you reload the wasteland a new world event will trigger we're in a strange saucer-like object will dart across the sky and appear to crash in the distance upon following the estimated flight path we'll arrive at a UFO crash site just southeast of Oberland station and man is this not something to behold the same saucer we just saw will live partially dug into the ground burning surrounded by a scorch of dead trees and grass clearly if we're looking at extraterrestrial technology there won't be any bodies in the immediate vicinity but on the ground there is a trail of green liquid it leads to a nearby cave and inside we'll meet an actual alien I suppose meat is a strong word as the creature won't bother trying to chat with us nor introduce itself it will just attack on site with a unique energy weapon once et has been overpowered we can loot this special alien blaster pistol off of its inventory as well as a few rounds of ammo each shot from this thing does 50 damage this is clearly an item of great power I guess that's what you would expect from something capable of intergalactic travel according to the creation kit this weapons editor IV is the Zeta gun hmm all right well this about sums up the encounter and indeed what I've just described is the only reference to the aliens in the vanilla game I'm gonna talk about fallout fours DLCs in a second but first I want to spare a moment to point something out that I don't see talked about nearly enough in the community this alien we just witnessed and really all of the aliens we know of throughout the Fallout universe are refer to as Zetas it's the term we see linked to the blaster pistol and as will soon learn the creatures call themselves Etten's - but what does that mean is it a fictional planet they're from the name of an intergalactic Empire perhaps well don't bother speculating Zeta is actually the name of a real star system in real outer space located roughly 220 trillion miles away from planet Earth Zeta Reticuli is a star system sort of like our own solar system however rather than having eight planets sorry Pluto and a single Sun Zeta features eleven planets and notably two rather than one stars something to point out is Zeta Reticuli has been involved in another alien related story you see in 1961 a couple named Betty and Barney Hill claimed they were abducted by aliens and after the event betty drew a map of the stars she remembered seen while in space aboard the Flying Saucer researchers quickly discovered Betty star map matched very closely what she would have seen if she were in the Zetas reticule II eye system because of this the hills alleged abduction is often referred to as the Zeta incident now there's more to the hills of story like evidently they had their memories wiped and had to see hypnotists to recall what happened it was weird and we fabricated anyway nonetheless Bethesda is drawing a clear parallel here much like the beans that kidnapped Barney and Becky the aliens of Fallout are also from or at least loosely related to the Zeta star system all right with this in mind let's move on to fallout 4 Snuka world dlc where more lore was revealed Nuka world of course took players to the ruins of the old Nuka world amusement park which before the Great War was the Disneyland of its day but that's neither here nor there what I'm interested in are some folks who we can meet outside of the park west of the Grantchester mystery mansion in the ruins of an old red rocket truck stop is the habala gists camp where we can meet various very weird characters who claim to be followers of a religion called of habala gee everyone here wears weird tinfoil clothes and encourages us to become a hub ologist ourselves claiming it will elevate us and free our minds but initially no one is willing to share what exactly they believe saying that they can't reveal much to non-members that's creepy clearly these people are nuts anyway the leader of this camp is a woman named Dora Hubble who apparently is a descendant of Richard Hubble the person who founded their religion she will explain that the group is trying to take over an old spacecraft nearby and will offer the player a number of quests help them prepare for that journey again this all sounds crazy but hey they are pain eventually after we've helped them fully prepare and got all their equipment ready this little side quest line climaxes with the revelation that the spacecraft they were trying to capture was really just an old UFO ride located near the parks junkyard we can try to tell them the spacecraft isn't real like hey guys it's a kid's toy it's not gonna get you to space but they won't listen to us ultimately once we help the hub folks capture the ride / UFO they'll all file in we'll turn it on they'll spin around for and once the device powers down the questline will finally be completed the group will leave still convinced they found a genuine spacecraft and in fact believe that the spinning was them briefly going to space now they just need to do more research go figure there's also an alternate evil ending where the sole survivor can sabotage the ride and cause it to spin so fast it kills the habala gist all at once right then and there okay so a fun story but how does this have anything to do with the Zen's well if we do decide to help the habala gist's and don't kill them when all said and done Dora will reward us with a unique weapon the hub's alien blaster and what's this it's a real alien weapon heck it's identical to the alien blaster we can receive at that burning crash site both visually and statistically it also takes alien blaster rounds wait a second if the hub folks were just crazy or line how would they have gotten ahold of one of these well that's not all because if you do decide to go the extra mile and opt to start speaking with the folks in the camp you'll realize there are even more alarming connections while the members of the hub normally don't tell us much about their belief system only providing vague allusions that it has something to do with space travel there is a way to get them to open up it's just such an absurd process most players without access to console commands will probably never bother you see at any point in the quest line we can speak with a man named Phil roller at their camp and he will offer us the formal opportunity to join the religion but there's a catch habala G is a tiered religion meaning members are expected to rank up throughout various levels of and only at every new rank members will be allowed to learn just a little bit more about the belief system so this isn't like most modern Abrahamic religions or anything where anyone can just pick up a holy book and be allowed to read about pretty much everything Phil explains that hvala G has eight ranks we can progress through starting with a HS one then a HS two etc the way we're able to level up is simple all we need to do is pay Phil a large fee of caps each time we see him and sit in the chair to receive a radiation blast that's it that's all there is to it just give caps get radiation blasted and boom now you have advanced in hvala G you can do this over as many times as you like or at least eight different times remember there's only eight different ranks each time you decide to go back for rank up you'll have to pay even more cats than the last time and the radiation blast will be bigger fill states that the rat treatments are necessary to quote cleanse your mind of neuro dines neuro dines according to members of the hub or remnants of spirits who died in the Great War that periodically infect your brains and cloud our mental abilities by receiving these rad treatments so if the story goes we can drive out most of these neuro dines and start seeing more clearly I know this sounds crazy in fact the whole thing sounds like a scam what kind of missionaries would demand people give them money to convert and learn about their beliefs the thing is the habala gist s-- actually appear to be onto something after each of the eight level of RAD treatments or intelligence will receive an increase in fact by our eighth and final treatment we can gain an astonishing 35 point buff to our intelligence stat which is insane furthermore Phil occasionally states that it's not for Denari radiation he's blasting us with instead this is a special kind of wave called Zeta radiation Zeta like as in what we call the aliens in the star system they likely emerged from hmm clearly despite all initial appearances the hub people aren't just lunatics or con artists they really do have some degree of extraterrestrial connection as I stated with each new rank up we'll be told just a little bit more about the hub ologists beliefs and I'll just go ahead and give you the summary of what Dora tells us after we made it to AHS 8 oh and by the way to rank up from AHS 7 to AHS 8 our final level up we'll need to pay an astonishing ten thousand caps geez anyway here are the spark notes of what we learned huh balaji was founded by a man named richard hubble before the bombs fell and for most of his life he was an ordinary science fiction writer but everything changed when one night hubble made contact with an extraterrestrial being that he called the star father who allegedly came from a planet called quetzel in the zyphus constellation of the Milky Way galaxy allegedly the star father claimed to be the true source for all life on Earth however neuro dimes have led mankind astray censor creation the star father then agreed to allow Hubble and any of his followers to come live with him on his planet quetzel where they would be free of the neuro dimes and gain unimaginable power then they could return to Earth and rule over it as gods this is why Dora and the gang are so obsessed with space travel they're trying to get to that planet where the star father is and join him okay Congrats now you know the secrets of apology and it only costed you around fifteen to twenty thousand cats there can be only one a hs-9 the highest you can be promoted is a hs8 the donation is ten thousand caps the radiation dose will be severe what is this final mystery the star father can free our minds of all restraints we will be like gods able to do unimaginable things then we will return to earth to rule over mankind it is a glorious task the star father has given us yes we will end the scourge of neuro Dean's once and for all the human race will reach its full potential under our benevolent guidance I am ready sit in the aligner frankly I'm gonna be honest and say I don't think their beliefs are a hundred percent accurate mainly because as we'll learn the aliens have fallout are much more evil and don't appear to possess any interest in saving mankind but there obviously is some level of sincerity here even all of the alien technology these people possess and they do really believe what they're saying maybe all those years ago mr. Hubble really was contacted by a zetton but he was just lied to or he didn't understand what the alien was saying and misinterpreted certain signals who knows I should point out there is no known constellation called zyphus in our real universe nor is there a planet called quetzel so the location were being told about is also kind of questionable all right well that about sums up everything fallout 4 tells us about the sentence we're done with that game for now but with all of what we've just learned let's now go back and start assessing what the other fallout games tell us about these alien invaders fallout 1 the first game in the franchise also offered players our first potential run-in with extraterrestrial life when wandering the wastes we could randomly encounter an alien ship seemingly crashed slashed buried in the ground nearby the spacecraft would be to alien skeletons with very large heads and small bodies if we inspected the wreckage we could loot a special alien blaster pistol and read a note that stated the ship was quote-unquote property of area 51 and to return it if found so I suppose these may have just been alien escapees from every of 51 or something either way this encounter was incredibly rare and given how it was the first Fallout game back in 1997 I doubt the devs were thinking very hard about an elaborate zetton subplot back then this was probably just an easter egg for giggles more significantly though there was an item in fallout one we could acquire called the psychic nullifier it was a helmet that could have been purchased from a merchant and later on in the game we could use it to block psychic attacks used by the master fallout ones main antagonist the thing about this helmet is no one knows how it was created and when we asked around we aren't given a solid answer though the Fallout official game guide provides a short description saying quote the psychic nullifier is a strange device possibly the product of an alien technology it blocks telepathic or psychic commands end quote hmm possibly alien well well alright well moving on to fallout 2 which takes place in western California as well in the year 2241 and released in 1998 we got a bit more info because in this game in the ruins of San Francisco we could encounter a strange cult who refer to themselves as the habala gists yep these are the same guys we met in Nuka world well not the exact same people of course different people but still same organization fallout two's portrayal of the hub was a bit different though that game stated they were pretty much exclusively based out of San Francisco and had no outside chapters of course this was in 2241 and fallout 4 takes place in 2287 so maybe over the last 46 years they've spread greatly furthermore well fallout 2 Cibola gist s-- had the same beliefs as the ones we met in fallout 4 they also believe they were designed to fly to the planet quetzel and return as gods and everything we learn from a secret terminal that the religions founder Richard Hubble was almost certainly making the whole thing up for money and he founded it on a lie he never made contact with a star father or anything he just wanted cash this isn't to say the current habala gist's don't genuinely believe in the cause their champion and as we've already talked about they clearly are on to something it's just that the underpinning of these beliefs is probably very flawed regardless the group had taken over an old space shuttle and were in the process of repairing it when we first meet them thus the hub would offer the chosen one a short series of quests to locate fuel in parts and hilariously enough if we did help them out they'd eventually fix the shuttle entirely and launch into space sadly if the epilogue of the game would reveal that all the habala gist on the shuttle died shortly after takeoff via suffocation due to a lack of air circulation systems so you know that was the end of them also in follow - at an old military installation called the Ciera Army Depot we would learn the US government was using some kind of alien tech to help develop a supercomputer called a Skynet that was assisting it with classified projects by the time we found Skynet it had alaria slee become self-aware and was really bored we can help give it a new body to explore the world in or just destroy Skynet on the basis that it was too spooky oh well but that's all for aliens and fallout 2 now let's head to fallout 3 this is where things started to get especially interesting as it featured a DLC called mothership Zeta that took us to the supposed mothership of the zetton alien invasion after we stumbled upon a UFO Prime sigh and got abducted once on the mothership we'd meet with other abductees and eventually lead a revolt to take over the entire place and beam ourselves back down to earth yeah basically we'd take over the mothership ourselves as you might imagine if this expansion offered us quite a bit more in the form of lore on the zetton aliens many of the human abductees here are actually hundreds of years old having been taken before the bombs fell and just cryogenically frozen the oldest identifiable person on board is a man named Toshiro Kagawa he was a former Japanese samurai the man doesn't talk much and clearly doesn't know much English though judging by his armor it's clear he fought for the ODA clan which means his abduction must have happened no later than the year 1562 when said clan collapsed so this guy is at least 715 years old when we meet him the oldest character in fallout history more importantly this proves the sentence were actively monitoring earth all the way back in the 1500s and probably even earlier survivors aside we can also tap into a database of audio logs the aliens were keeping of interviews or interrogations they had with abductees maybe interview is a strong word none of the aliens speak English so mostly all we hear on their end is gurgles and the people they're talking to generally just seem frightened and don't understand what's happening either way there is a recent trend of the aliens abducting American Air Force personnel and astronauts perhaps this is a part of a broader plan or maybe this just has more to do with humanity only recently having gone to space this is this is incredible I'm I'm Colonel Hart again of the United States Air Force I'm sorry I don't understand oh speaking of this yes I was saying I'm Colonel Hartigan United States Air Force our nation has been conducting manned space flight tests I'm sorry you'll have to forgive me frankly we never expected to meet you all I'm sure there's a great deal that our two species can learn Oh ow what the hell what is this what are you doing yep mothership Zeta never directly confirms what the aliens grand plan is but it's heavily implied to be something very very malicious on the ship there is a newly built death ray that we can actually use if we want to be evil capable of destroying entire cities and states on planet earth and in various chambers we can find all sorts of experimental weaponry and would even appear to be mutated super soldiers of sorts it appears the Seton's have a militant objective almost like they're planning to invade planet Earth though if that is their goal what's stopping them the governments of the world are gone they nuke themselves to oblivion all that's left are disorganized tribes and very small city-states surely they'd have no trouble taking over now what are they waiting for we'll get to that for now let's jump on over to the next game Fallout New Vegas this title only featured one notable cannon reference to the aliens at the 188th Trading Post we could meet a young orphaned boy known as the forecaster who possessed psychic capabilities that allowed him to see events both in the future and past as well as even communicate with some spirits things mister I so thought I can take off my medicine and do some thinking people say it's real interesting I don't know because I never hear it some people say that it's gift other people say it's kind of thinking anyone can do if they watched more than they talked I don't know which is true I see a lot I think a lot there's a lot to hear through the 188 to that maybe accounts for the thinking the forecaster wasn't featured in any major quests or narratives though he was more or less just a side character who we could have asked to give us our fortune once in a while and occasionally trade with though look at what he's wearing on his head that looks quite like the psychic NOLA fire from fallout 1 which as we mentioned if likely has alien origins when asked why he's wearing it the kid will explain it's his medicine the device makes sure that his mind doesn't get overloaded with psychic activity and helps him avoid headaches this is pretty consistent with what we know the psychic NOLA fire to be capable of its whole purpose is to protect people from psychic energy no word on how exactly he acquired it but hmm he has one actually before we move on let's stand New Vegas for a little bit longer and talk about one of its pinnacle characters a mr. Robert house he of course is the self-styled president and CEO of New Vegas before the bombs fell Robert house was the founder and CEO of robco industries the world's most profitable robotics company decades before the great war even erupted if robert house predicted a nuclear war between the world's great powers was coming soon so he invested the overwhelming majority of his wealth and power into developing a system that could defend new vegas from a nuclear attack he was also able to manufacture a machine that could keep him alive forever long story short house was right nukes did fly and when the dust finally settled most of New Vegas was still preserved and he was able to quickly take over with an army of robots now 200 years later he still rules and represents one of the game's three biggest players but if you choose to side with mr. house in the new vegas quest line you'll eventually learn that he's not content with staying on earth he believes that our planet is doomed no matter what his ultimate grand plan is to lead humanity to the Stars he intends to manufacture an entire fleet of spacecraft and begin colonizing other planets beyond Earth notably he even believes this can be achieved within the next hundred years that admittedly sounds quite soon though mr. house is also admittedly a pretty smart and competent guy new Vegas it's the remedy to mankind's derailment the city's economy is a blast furnace in which can be forged the steel of a new rail line running strict to a new horizon what is the NCR a society of people desperate to experience comfort ease luxury a society of customers with all that money pouring in give me 20 years and I'll be ignited a high-technology development sectors 50 years and I'll have people in orbit 100 years and my colony ships will be heading for the Stars to search for planets unpolluted by the wrath and folly of a bygone generation regardless of whether or not you have any faith in this plane of his one question worth asking is did Robert know about the aliens in space surely the sentence could pose a humongous obstacle to this great strategy of his and he appears to have done a lot of research on this subject so if anyone would know about them it should be him alas new Vegas leaves this question up in the air now let's jump back to fallout 4 and specifically its nuclear world dlc once again I know I know we were just here but there was something I left out the nuchal world amusement park is divided into multiple different zones each post in its own theme there's a safari theme to region kiddy Kingdom themed region a Wild West there you get the point one of these zones is the Galactic zone and you guessed it it's based on space travel as we learn through various holler tapes and terminal entries the Galactic zone is kind of unique though because it wasn't built exclusively by the nuka-cola corporation if they had a lot of help from vult tech and robco robert houses company importantly if Rob co-created all of the robot actors that populated this area there's a lot of robots in the Galactic zone but one important type we can stumble across are the animatronic aliens of during the events of nuclear world there are malfunctioning and shooting at the player but that's neither here nor there take a good look at these guys they look very very similar to the aliens of fallout 4 and more specifically the aliens we saw in fallout 3 also look at that alien blaster it's identical to the fallout 3 aliens weaponry did robco just coincidentally manufacture this bot to bear such striking similarities to the real zetton creatures or was there more prior knowledge involved maybe he really did know about the sentence well no matter now that we've explored references to these aliens in fallouts 1 2 3 new vegas and fourth in fact revisited fallout 4 twice the only game that's left is fallout 76 everyone's favourite as many of you know 76 just got a major expansion wastelanders which introduced an incredible amount of lore and content notably human NPCs were also just introduced so that's nice wastelanders also contains what might just be the biggest revelation about the aliens yet but first a quick word about the vanilla game vanilla fallout 76 featured a legendary creature called the flatwoods monster which on very rare occasions can spawn in and attack the player making use of all sorts of stealth technology the flatwoods monster even appears to be able to control creatures around it and make them attack you too I'm not even gonna insult your intelligence just look at this thing it's clearly in actuality a zetton alien in some sort of suit unlike most aliens we've seen so far this one isn't walking on two legs instead it's using a device to hover and appears quite a bit smaller some hollow types found across Appalachia reveal that the flatwoods monster was harassing people even before the war west virginians report being stalked by a weird purple entity that would oftentimes lash out an attack and kidnap children there are even alleged sightings from people who claimed to have witnessed the flatwoods monster abducting people though unfortunately before the war none of the police departments took those claims seriously I guess this being is a scout of sorts collecting information and studying the locals oh well let's move on to what I'm really excited about the crater earth is a large crashed Space Station located in the Toxic Valley region of the map that apparently fell out of orbit shortly after the war in vanilla fallout 76 there wasn't a whole lot going on here at least not that's relevant to this video but the wastelanders DLC introduced a new bit of lore and populated it with a faction of Raiders one of those Raiders is a man named much who spent quite a lot of his time going through old documents and writing histories one of the notes we can find on Munch's desk is a little interesting it reads quote the Nova orbital zero one long before we ever landed a man on the moon the United States Space Administration had already launched a top-secret program to create the world's first space station the Nova orbital a1 the space race was real but the true mission was to gather information on the alien spies that infiltrated our plan the town of flatwoods had already seen them we knew they were out there but we couldn't have a panic on her hands we didn't know the alien motives so the public could know nothing once the great war hit the aliens made their move they knocked the Nova orbital right out of the sky and he or she lies we found her we rebuilt her and now she's outpost crater zero one the best home and all of a fillet gia well well there you go apparently world governments were very well aware of the zetton presence and in order to investigate them further without alarming the public fabricated an entire space race to develop the technology necessary to make contact clearly the aliens were not interested in maintaining friendly relations given the fact that they were shooting down her spacecraft but still also the now appears to suggest they coordinated the shooting down of the Nova orbital zero one space station with the onset of the Great War as if they could have known it was going to happen or at the very least understood what it represented and knew that humanity had been greatly weakened or I guess it could have just been really lucky timing so that wouldn't be good storytelling so I choose to assume it's not no matter there we go we've now gone over virtually every single extraterrestrial reference in the Fallout franchise at least all of the Canon ones so putting them together why can we make out well they seem to be visiting our planet from the Zetas reticle e.i star system at least that's the most likely a place of their origination and they've been paying attention to humans for a very very long time at minimum since the 1500s furthermore just before the bombs went flying our government picked up on their presence and rushed to develop technology to meet the threat all in vain though additionally the apologists despite initially presenting themselves as scam artists do boast a strong connection with the critters and have acquired some of their technology what the relations are here though is unclear the sentence definitely don't come in peace and are very hostile though they also don't seem interested with an outright conquest or takeover of our planet if they wanted to invade or do something like that nothing has ever really been stopping them they've willingly chose not to I've heard some theorists argue that maybe the sentence were planning on invading the earth after the great Worf maybe a couple hundred years or so but the player characters actions in Fallout 3 and the subsequent destruction of their mothership caused them to fall back substantially and they've been postponed maybe and this is what I personally believe but that's the doesn't even know yet so far the sentence have been a convenient excuse to introduce all kinds of wacky and insane technology / plot lines to the Fallout franchise and they just want to keep using that depending on how creative and crazy they want to go in future entries they could expand the lore on this concept even further but for now I wouldn't be very surprised if Todd Howard himself hasn't figured it out yet suffice to say the case of the sentence remains an open one this is where we are going to end today's video thanks so much for stopping by everybody what do you think is going on what are your own theories and did I miss anything leave a comment down below as always like ratings are very much appreciated again thanks for watching and open to catch you all in my next video peace out everyone what talking to this thing just talk I I don't have to do anything else all right I said all right just stop hello hello my name is Andrew Endicott on the night of May 17th the year of our Lord 1697 I was I was taken from my home in Salem Village I I do not know where I am exactly or why I came to be here I've seen through windows the stars and Sun and beloved earth down there below me so it would seem I am aboard some vessel suspended in the ether ironically it would seem so close to where I thought heaven must surely lie but this is not heaven and my captors are hard not angels I'm not entirely unconvinced that the scripture is wrong that Heaven and Hell are reversed for my captives are Devils demons from my nightmares even now they watch me make me talk they seem to want me to tell my story I know not why a record of their deeds perhaps or am I just a pawn in some some evil game and there are others other captives I mean from whence they came I cannot say some wear strange dress as if they're from a different time and some are frozen as an ice unmoving but I think alive I believe they plan the same fate for me will I be frozen to will I stop it I did what you said you wanted me to talk so I talked just leave me leave me be
