Hey how's it going guys it's nae here and fallout fours post-nuclear US of A is a land littered with tales - tabla whether it's the sad struggle of a lowly substance farmer or the great jockey for power between two apocalyptic armies it seems everywhere we look there's a story to be found alas sometimes these stories can well sort of not make any sense or conflict' with each other and the rules of the Fallout universe as we know them such awkward paradoxes and contradictions in the game's lore are referred to as plot holes and boy are there a couple in this game a while back I did a video exploring some of Skyrim's more notable plot holes and that did really well and had a lot of fun so I figured why not bring this series to the Wild Wasteland of radioactive Boston and couldn't think of any good reasons not to so sit back and relax as we take a look at five interesting plot holes in fallout 4 starting off jet is just one of a large variety of Kem's featured throughout the Fallout franchise its effects have varied depending on the game but in fallout 4 jet can be used to slow down time as well as gain some rather useful extra agility points curiously it's one of the main cams that was used at bolt 95 bolt 95 was or I guess is a volt the sole survivor can discover near the edge of the glowing sea that had a rather intriguing experiment taking place inside of it vault-tec the devious fiends they are had intentionally populated the bunker exclusively with chem addicts and after it was sealed shut the residents would be cut off from their substances completely cold turkey at least for five years anyway because after that time had passed and once most of the addicts by now had recovered a fresh supply of 15 cases of jet and psycho would be revealed to the residents and voltec could see how they would react long story short they didn't react very well and pretty much all overdosed or killed each other over the supply but the thing is despite voltec clearly stating that jet and psycho were the major Kem's being used in the experiment according to fallout slore jet didn't actually exist at the time this project was being planned or executed you see we learn and fall out to that jet is actually one of the few consumables that was created after the war rather than before it was developed by some shady wasteland pseudo-scientists who realized the fumes from Brahmin dung could be inhaled as a camp and by the way yes when you use a jet in the game you're basically just inhaling synthesized Brahman gas which is new but more importantly it means that it's physically impossible for jet to have been available prior to the bombs falling yet somehow vault-tec was using it in some of their wackiest experiments in fairness this inconsistency doesn't bother me tremendously as fallout 2 was developed by interplay rather than Bethesda themselves so if they wanted to go back and retcon the lore to suggest that jet was an already-existing chem prior to the bombs falling they could do that and it wouldn't upset me too much though I don't think that's really what's happening here more than likely whoever was typing out these terminal entries just didn't know the full history of jet and it assumed it was like any other camera alas that person was wrong next on her list we have the Curious Case of Roger Warwick he and his farm are at the centre of the Institute quest building a better crop we talked a bit about this in our last fallout 4 video so I'll spare the moor my new details essentially if Roger Warwick isn't Roger Warwick if you catch my meaning he's a synth he used to be a person until a few months back when the Institute captured the real Roger and replaced him with one of their droids now they're secretly using his farm to test out a new crop developed by their bio science division if you speak to members of the Warwick family they'll all remark on how their patriarch has recently undergone a massive personality change for the better he's lost what was once a massive temper and become kinder and happier and everyone's pretty satisfied clueless that the actual Roger is no more well everyone except one person a single worker on the farm has caught on to the synthetic truth and the Institute will send you in to neutralize this man who knows a bit too much after the quest has been completed Roger will be flagged as uh nacelle and can be killed a few please and this is where things get weird because if one decides to gun down this obviously robotic farmer he won't drop a synth component if this makes you scratch your head it definitely should as the Institute in no uncertain terms states that Roger is a gen 3 synth heck after completing his quest Roger even promises to continue working with the Institute directly to your face but if he is a gen 3 synth he has to have a synth component which he doesn't at first I thought this could maybe be some 8d nuclear theme to chest by Bethesda's riders may be the real Rodgers somehow avoided the replacement maybe he just learned to play along or something but there are terminals in the Institute's bio science lab that clearly state the human Roger was kidnapped taken to the Institute for interrogation and the robotic replacement was dispatched so what most likely happened is whoever was in charge of placing Rogers NPC simply forgot to add a synth component to his inventory which is admittedly a bit odd as they purposefully flagged his essential status to be revoked once the appropriate quest was finished so who knows maybe the real Roger Warwick is just that good Killman at number 3 can bridge polymer labs is a dated research facility located just west of the old Commonwealth Institute of Technology well the building itself is certainly old and pre-war she's not necessarily abandoned though as upon your first visit to the place you'll be greeted by a miss nan ero bot named Molly who apparently has yet to receive the memo about the whole nuclear apocalypse thing and treat you as if you were any other perspective visitor prior to the war Molly will ultimately end up offering the flavour a job at the institution kick starting a whole side quest worthy of its own video but before the Soul Survivor begins she'll ask if you'd like to take part in a company orientation basically just a brief lecture on the history of Cambridge polling relax if you agree you'll be taken to a small room where she does just that you'll learn about the corporation's founders its extensive ties to the US military and quite importantly its role in the construction of a Liberty prime which went on to liberate the city of Anchorage Alaska from Chinese occupiers earning the company much respect from the American public except that's not what happened at all in fallout 3 we learned from the Brotherhood of Steel that while the Pentagon was planning to use the automation to save Anchorage the military ended up developing power armor before he was quite ready power armor proved far more successful than anyone's wildest expectations and that's what ultimately played the deciding role in the United States is recapture of Alaska and Liberty prime was never deployed instead it remained buried at the Pentagon in fact the US government never even disclosed the existence of Liberty prime to the general public making this whole interaction where moly the robot spends five minutes talking about him to any random fellow who just walks in and asks for a job whether they're gonna be a nuclear physicist or a janitor quite suspicious at best for 4th spot this one I feel is almost kind of cheating because I think most people eventually noticed it but the second act of Fallout fours main questline begins at good neighbors memory then with a synthetic Nick Valentine has Kellogg's old memories loaded into him via a chip we took from Kellogg's body after killing him in the quest before Kellogg is half Robo person anyway after putting that chip inside of Nick Valentine we then get inside of a memory den chair and access Kellogg's memories through Nick Valentine I know it's kind of complex but it certainly makes for one of the most interesting moments in the game as we shift through this man's mind and look for information on our son Shawn well once you're all done inside of Kellogg's memories and have disconnected from the server's the next time you speak to Nick he'll say this hope you got what you were looking for inside my head now this was undeniably one of the more startling moments in the entire game it implies that Kellogg still retained some influence over Nick after the machines had been turned off and really sets the stage for this entire new dynamic with Valentine to be introduced where we constantly have to be on the lookout for when he's him and when Kellogg's in control or at least it should have because never again is this subplot addressed or even brought up Bethesda just completely drops it from the game never to be explained I had expected this moment to be a catalyst for so much more but instead nothing ever came of it but there may indeed be a reason for all of this the Dangerous Minds quest actually had quite a bit of dialogue and sequences cut from it that would have revealed a Nick and Kellogg to be a bit more closely linked than the release version of the game suggests for one there was a conversation the player could have had with dr. Amaury who would explain that Nick Valentine may have been built out of modified cybernetic parts similar to what the Institute used to enhance Kellogg which is why Nick was able to access his memories in the first place this dialogue was ultimately replaced instead Nick's ability to read Kellogg's memories is just shocked up to him being a really old model and the fact that he may be based on the same parts that made Kellogg Kellogg is never elaborated upon or mentioned considering this replacement it's very possible that Bethesda had planned for there to be a lot more going on here and perhaps turn Nick Valentine's jockey for control over his own mind with Kellogg into an actual subplot but ultimately decided to discard it and this dialogue was just left over or it could be that this is just the result of somewhat poor riding you can be the judge and finally last on our list the quest kid in a fridge is probably among my favorites I quests offered in the game it begins when you hear the screams of a child coming from a fridge after you open the door and help the boy out you realize he's a ghoul and he says he's been trapped in there for the past 200 years since the bombs fell he'll ask that you take him back to his old home so he can figure out what happened to his family spoiler alert good news sort of his family survived to their goals as well and the reunion acts as one of the game's more heartwarming moments also you're given the option to sell the boy to a slaver named bullet and make a few hundred cats so decisions decisions however despite the enjoyable narrative and unique concept this quest really shouldn't exist at all according to the game's lore you see the mission suggests that ghouls don't age or need to eat at all both by the very fact that this kid managed to survive 200 years locked in a fridge as a ghoul and emerged still as a child and that slaver who asks if he can buy Billy from us even goes so far as to state the reason he wants him is because ghouls don't age or need to eat making them excellent workers but we know very well that's not how ghouls work the Fallout franchise is rather inconsistent on whether or not ghouls actually need to eat for instance there's a ghoul in Fallout 4 named Kent Connelly living in good-neighbor and we can find terminal entries about him that clearly state the locals are trying to keep him fed so he doesn't accidentally starve himself to death and the brotherhood of steel faction even features a side quest where we learn about a soldier who is secretly trying to keep a bunch of feral ghouls from starving to death underneath the Boston Airport so clearly ghouls need to eat or they will starve to death fallout 2 it does imply that some ghouls are able to survive without food instead living off of radiation but Billie's fridge isn't a very radioactive place all things considered additionally ghoul children aren't supposed to be a thing we know gula fication does stop aging in adults but in children that's not the case and Fallout New Vegas we need a character named bro who became a ghoul long ago as a child thought grew into an adult despite that condition furthermore in fallout 3 if there's a character named gob who suggested to have gula fight as a child but also grown out of it so this Peabody kid really just should not exist he should have starved to death years ago or at very least grown into an adult while in the fridge nonetheless this was one of my favorite quests in the game so all is forgiven Bethesda well maybe not oh but you get the idea anyway on that note we are going to wrap up five interesting plot holds in fallout 4 thanks for stopping by everybody which I'm the one showing off in this video did you find to be the most intriguing or thought-provoking do you have any potential explanations behind some of these leave a comment down below as always like ratings are very much appreciated again thanks for watching and hope to catch you all in my next video peace out everyone
