trying to knock off a few pounds and looking for a low carb between meal snack stock up on properly prepared pickled eggs most home canners overcook their eggs stored by pickled eggs cost a fortune we show you how to beat both drawbacks welcome to Bridge and enjoy the video make your own at home for a fraction of the cost this is a jar of pickled eggs we made three years ago you can see that the eggs are still in great shape the dark specks are the spices the eggs are perfectly fine we use a turkey fryer to hard boil the eggs but if you don't have access to one you can use a large stock pot and cook them on the stove we fill the pot up to one inch above the basket with purchased eggs in bulk at the local grocery store or Sam's Club we cook five dozen eggs at a time gently stack the eggs in the basket once in a while you will find some cracked eggs or one stuck to the package but this is rare once the water has begun to boil slowly lower the basket into the water it takes approximately seven minutes for the water to come to a new boil with the water and equipment we are using boil the eggs for 12 minutes after 12 minutes put the cooked eggs in a cooler or other large container of cold water to cool [Music] we have 12 wide mouth quart jars washed and ready to add the eggs to foreign your batch of eggs put a pan of water onto heat for the lid inserts but don't put the lids in the water until five minutes before you're ready to put them on the jars after the eggs have cold for 15 minutes take them out of the water now they're ready to peel it's best to tap the large end of the egg to break the shell a little and then the shell comes off perfectly and your eggs are flawless when you're almost done peeling the eggs put five of the lid inserts in the hot water to heat you don't want the water boiling set a timer for five minutes when I have 60xpeeled and ready for a Water Rinse to remove any pieces of shell that might be on them now it's time to fill the jars we put 12 eggs in each jar [Music] five quarts are ready to add the pickling liquid mixture first we fill the jar a fourth of the way with water the eyeballing measure is close enough then fill the remainder of the jar with cider vinegar to cover the eggs and leave one half inch space between the liquid and top of Jar there's no need to heat the water or the vinegar prior to filling the jars doing so will only overclock the eggs take a damp Rag and wipe around the rim of the jar to remove any residue that may be on them this is important the least little bit of residue will affect the seal now take your heated lid inserts from the hot water and put them on your jars and screw on a jar ring make sure the jar rings are screwed on tight mix the liquid back and forth and turn the jars upside down as you can see the water level appears to be low but once you turn the jars upright again the level will be fine repeat this process until you have all the eggs cooked peeled and put in the jars here are our 12 dozen cider vinegar pickled eggs that are ready to store away for special treats road trips or just eat for a no-carb snack there are no time consuming hassles with canning equipment they'll stay preserved for several years without spoilage our last batch was three years ago and we are still using them and they taste great go to brighton.xyz or our channel for more fun videos and information thanks for watching
