Exploring an Abandoned Japanese Clinic - Untouched for 40 Years

premier rush in today's episode we're in rural japan to explore an abandoned women's hospital from the outside you might assume this was a home but inside the rooms are crammed with vintage medicine and other medical equipment undisturbed since the 1980s join us as we venture inside and discover what's [Music] left [Music] [Music] are we sure this is abandoned i don't know i almost feel like i should take my shoes off and so i mean yeah it's probably just wet yeah we're joined today by our friend gakuran man we have him to thank for showing us this incredible location he's explored many abandoned clinics similar to this one so he has a lot of insight to offer so uh yeah the light's working here and it's loaded with yeah we hit the lights again i did not expect it to turn on no it's never happened before that's cool you've never been in a place of power no well yeah but not in a hospital right now okay that's cool i like it it's got a nice little vibe this one oh definitely that's a first like i like can you read any of these bottles yeah oh i mean oh there's some in english well it's german actually so basically this is like your probably regular regular medicine is here that's the black label okay red one is more stronger medicine medic separate yeah i've never seen that way of saying it before but then um probably in ah there it is there's some pills there's a poisonous medicine up there which is always kept locked then have to be kept locked according to this one right here that's the one yeah it's not open is it damn we need to find the key guys it's locked up there's what is this box here that looks interesting too that's a scale for weighing and different amounts of medicines that's very good it's like some of these containers look like they're from the 50s even 60s old so the doctor's on this i'm gonna have to first of all so gawker on man just found a book of labels for every type of medicine and chemical there is oh it's kind of falling apart got to be careful with it definitely in the upper ranks it's very clean this is as pristine as it gets pretty much they even got one of these what is that what this is it's freaky looking especially these things right here these are stool samples oh stool samples so basically oh this is neat right here this devil looking figured look at this all the tweezers and scissors okay that room looks awesome back there but let's try and do one room let's move one room at a time yeah it's a lot of tools in here or else we're definitely gonna miss stuff i even have the eye chart even the ceiling has a few little cornice details that you wouldn't see in a modern hospital this whole building style is kind of a western stuff did you see this it's like a scale for a baby yeah infant skill yeah that's that's what it is away your baby there's a calendar in here 1982 yeah 1982 calendars so this hasn't been used since the early 80s this guy was a fan of datsun he had a little collection of light right no that's an old x-ray thing maybe no way is that an x-ray tube it could be an x-ray something yeah that's probably why it had like a directional thing if you flip the hood down yeah it had like something to focus in there's only the brand on it but what is the brand later um we can look it up and see if they see any hmm there's a microscope in that red case oh man this is an awesome room right here wow and i guess you could call it a surgical room or a delivery room probably there's some syrup so it was probably the single all-purpose room for any kind of patient here i mean look at all the tools they had they could do anything in this room probably open this up opens right up [Music] they're all still just neatly laid out there's no water inside this place is pristine though man look at all this stuff down here what do you think's in this bag tools to go to look there's a doctor's name it's like a clipboard to write it maybe no those are kind of exciting that is all medicine should i be touching this in my bare hands fine trust in it's all for injections this is like the most untouched medical abandonment we've ever been in awesome yeah it's so you didn't have to dirty your hands the moment of truth oh favorite darn unless this like a master switch and that's just like the vocals maybe i don't think so oh oh that's your life that's a bell should i pull that no that could be the switch it could be it could also be a bell now oh yeah it's good that's funny now this room just got even cooler yeah so this one needs to be plugged in yeah there we go a fully lit operating room this is crazy you could shoot this place at night now yeah other people will see the lights come on now i'm kind of thinking this mirror is a second visit but this place may be gone yeah [Music] you may be wondering how has a time capsule like this managed to sit completely untouched for nearly four decades well the doctor who owned this practice retired in the 1980s but continued to live in the adjacent home located on the same property [Music] eventually the doctor passed away and had no surviving heirs or at least any willing to claim the property and so it became abandoned we heard the town plans on demolishing the clinic and by now it's likely already gone [Music] it's crazy from the outside you would think nothing of this building it just looks like an old house got a step that moved here no my back had a shelf wow this is like a living quarters a yamaha keyboard that's an old one that looks like 50s in this vacuum an old sharp vacuum we could plug it in we could the plug's right there yeah you should oh my god it's on [Music] are there settings i don't think so sounds pretty good oh it does is that sound that's inside the keyboard making that sound oh it's a cooling fan that's cool this place is incredible there's a japanese english dictionary over here although this location was much smaller than the ones we usually explore there is something special about it that has stayed with me with the vast amount of interesting items left behind some of them very personal there was a kind of energy lingering inside you could feel the echoes of the souls who long ago spent their days here and with the building likely already demolished the few hours we spent interrupting the years of silence have come to feel ephemeral in retrospect i'm glad we could experience and capture a slice of this building's story most of which will be lost to time [Music] [Laughter] [Music] you
