in today's episode we're returning to the site of a massive psychiatric hospital that we partially explored years ago this state hospital was established in the early 1900s and eventually grew to over 7 000 patients like many other asylums across the country the institution would suffer from overcrowding and patient abuse today the hospital is still operational although at a greatly reduced scale this should all look somewhat familiar and it does i think the tunnel was right down here if i remember correctly now we've already explored this building two years ago about right yeah just about two years ago a little over two years two and a half and we ran out of daylight to explore the other buildings in the complex so we have returned to finish the job two years later let's see how much is different actually no it wasn't two and a half it was either two or three because it was exactly two years almost the same date exactly it's exactly two years yeah i'm gonna find raspberry rocks that is all asbestos like most asylum campuses in the u.s the buildings are connected by a network of tunnels that carry steam from the hospital's central heating plant although the tunnels can be cramped and hazardous they're our best option for remaining undetected by security um that's not good that just looks like car to steal the crap looks like they reinforced it thankfully there's no asbestos on this part of the pipe we have to crawl through is there still lights on down at that end no there was last time right interesting that's completely dark in here now so this direction is the way we were facing when we first started remember the other building we went into was down here you hear that rumbling with you keep going it's a weird sound though isn't it sounds like some equipment's on back here yeah yeah okay i think this is where he went last time that's where the light is coming from the first building we entered was the one where we ended our previous adventure although we didn't make it much further in the basement before sundown it didn't seem like much had changed since then this is where we saw the cats in here you want to see if the cats are still in here here's the main hallway yep they are there there's one over here too feels so strange to revisit a place years later you hear that keep listening i could are you sure it's not your respirator you're hearing it sounds exactly [Music] well i hear snoring like really clearly brian doesn't i could have dementia or something or we might come across a sleeping homeless person we'll see damn there's a crap ton of fire extinguishers in here oh like ambulance lights too or cop lights who knows old posters well we have respiratory protection you were here before so everyone had a dorm and a day room this building seems pretty empty yeah i mean we found some stuff in it last time holy [ __ ] look at this what the [ __ ] it's like fresh what kind of animals do you think they're leaving us i should probably sit on the edge of the step here this [ __ ] oh my god look up here oh my god this is not safe get out of this [ __ ] sterile before we get like lung disease this is disgusting holy [ __ ] no it's too oh small some wipes there maybe they like their acid if it was a human that was a little spooky there's a nice little patio here a rocking chair just chilling brian this vending machine is dead this wall is really green i like it oh brian some of the famous balls are in here what's in here the famous balls oh how'd the balls get over here no there's also a chair over there all right let's step in here this is the room um this is blood oh my god in the vials they were blind they broke open that's really hazardous look there's more over here other all over the floor if you want any more proof that instagram ruined urbex just look at the walls of any abandoned building that's well known just people's instagram tags scrolled all over the walls there's some beds left in these rooms down here much more modern ones though in the other parts of the hospital there's a bunk there's some ikea furniture is that the tromso from ikea i don't know it's like what's on the floor they look kind of like ikea furniture it is it's literally ikea furniture dude what if these were like staged ikea furniture no one would do that you know he has been around for a while hey don't don't underestimate [ __ ] the instagramers [ __ ] ikea bed and set to stage a shot it could have no ikea's been around for a while dude i don't know maybe they did there's no date in here there is a date 2006 yeah so it's just from when it was abandoned time to go back down and find a different building it is warmer over here right yeah definitely okay because the active pipes are coming up it's warm and toasty oh look at these roaches red ones you see that yeah you don't like the light the [ __ ] was that a raccoon making some noise that was probably the only noise i heard too come from the other direction there you go what where'd the raccoon go i don't know that's why i was looking behind myself the condensation in here oh yeah just fogging up my lens you can hear it flowing through here there's power on it yeah that's the building with power we want to get to right here where this raccoon's at [ __ ] he could be in here oh they're right there in the corner by the door yeah uh my whole lens is fogged up yeah same well just don't fog it once we get out of this area the raccoons are guarding they're guarding well they're trapped in the corner by that door what do you want to do about it i don't know we kind of trapped them into a corner it was the one corner we need to go to so we're going to come back there later i think we're hearing the pipe streaks oh my god this place is disgusting i know kids come in here with like sneakers on too oh my god i thought that was gonna be more solid ceiling is like a mess of nasty looking pipes here's the shelter holy [ __ ] oh my gosh that's a cat echo holy [ __ ] that's an echo if i've ever heard one what the [ __ ] whoa this was the fallout shelter it was it sounds like there's people down there yo that's nuts echo you want to explore the shelter thing first yeah okay oh look it says snap is this way it looks boarded off or something yeah i don't know you want to walk down here yeah sure it says dead end but like there might be something i don't know if there will be take a peek you can just tell how much more solid these walls are because of the echo though these are like dressers and cabinets we just put them in here for storage yeah building 13 or 70 or 73 yeah other beds and it's pricked yeah all right right back that way all our shelter starts here the basement is full of old chairs old cots oh you know what these aren't hospital cuts these are fallout shelter cots medical supplies this is all fallout shelter stuff the office of civil defense active in the 1960s was responsible for the safety and well-being of civilians in the event of a nuclear attack many government buildings such as courthouses schools and hospitals had their basements stocked with a standardized set of supplies although these buildings weren't designed to be fallout shelters and surely wouldn't be impervious to radiation it would have at least given many citizens a fighting chance at survival a lot of cots in here i have wooden handles on it too so you could use as a stretcher wow the whole place is filled with them medical supplies for use only after enemy attack field kits bandages dressings scissors sounds like this place is full of rats or bats maybe little bats see a rodent rats are bats it's a rodent like this box though it says mask on the list of contents i wonder if there's like a gas mask ether and mask oral hypotonic materials these plants say something on them government standard pants these are some um i like shelter clothes what does that say on the front i bet this is the bandage thing that came out of here what does it say on the front though in the red yeah that's a bandage put other side next to wound wow sterilized dressing it looks like it's all cots back there i don't see any other boxes there's like a military helmet right here the staircase looks really annoying to go up yeah i don't know if we can go up here i want to find a different one yeah let's find a different one Between the animals, strange noises, and overall atmosphere this is definitely one of the creepiest places they've visited.
