all right everybody welcome back to the channel um this episode will just be a really laid back nice casual episode i've had a lot of people express interest in me talking about my chainsaw collection they just want to know which saws i have and what i use them for in various applications so i'm just going to show you all my chainsaws and try to explain to you you know how i choose to use which saw when so i'll just start with the smallest ones and work my way up so the smallest one i've got just start right here um i just did a review on this so i won't talk about it too much this is the husqvarna the 540i battery-powered saw this is a top handle i really like this saw it's it's the small it's my least powerful song but it's it's also it's my lightest and it's really nice for like pruning small removals uh just a really great all-around saw i really don't want to talk about it too much because i just did a video that you might have seen you can check that out it's the last video that i posted it's it's like an hour long review i ran this through like like five different scenarios so i think that was probably thorough enough for this saw so i'll just move on to some more okay so then i've got two of these bad boys these are ms-200ts from still it's kind of um it's you know these saws are kind of like a i don't know like a fat or cultural thing you know if you're buying a saw these are kind of like the cool saw to get you know i probably wouldn't recommend i wouldn't recommend that you buy these saws just because they're older they're harder to keep going you got to keep replacing parts kind of got to keep getting them repaired you know these are both probably 20 years old roughly i got them both used and they've both been worked on a lot they run awesome tons of power really great power to weight ratio you just run it just it's really nice and balanced something to note on the the top handles i like the ones where the gas and oil are where the oil is in front and the gases and back some of the saws put both in the front and having the gas in the back really it makes it feel more balanced so yeah i've had a few saws that were like that with the gas and oil both in the front but just overall if you use the 200 t i mean everybody knows these these saws are like they're legendary people love these sauce and i love them too one of them has been ported by west coast saw this one this one i bought off ebay i don't know what was done to it before i got it and they both run really well this one has a west coast saw aftermarket muffler on it and then they both have the west coast saw three-point dogs that's kind of the so those are the modifications i've had these are 14 inch guide bars one of them is a still bar and one of them is just a still lightweight bar so this is still light this part's aluminum this part's steel this whole thing's still the um the thing i've noticed about the top handles is the like having the porting done it's it's nice it adds a little power but i've noticed on the small saws like these two saws they really seem to cut i can't really tell much of a difference i've noticed as you increase the size the engine size the cc's of the of the chainsaw you get a lot more return when you modify and build and port the saws out so like you know the bigger saws you're they're going to be a lot stronger after you pour them these are kind of like this saw is that's the west coast i mean these saws are just they're really good just the way they are stock um so yeah and then uh the with the light bar too the light bars i've also noticed it's the same thing the longer they are if they're light you get you'll notice a huge difference these are both 14 inch long bars one's light one isn't i i can't tell the difference when i'm running these saws so you know the the light bars they're cool for the long bars for the short bars personally i don't really think that it matters that much so that's uh yeah so that's these two saws i think that's a about it for these so we'll move on to some of the bigger ones now and of course that's uh and of course that you know and of course i use these when i'm climbing i don't use these on the ground a lot i use them for when i'm climbing you know removals um that sort of thing i've been using these less now that i've got the battery powered saw and actually the west coast saw one i've just been keeping it in my garage just kind of saving it for when this one craps out a note for that if you are going to store your saw for a long time in the garage run all of the gas out of the tank that way you know just run it until the saw dies and that way you don't end up with a bunch of uh used fuel gunking up the carburetor on all that that way when you go to start it you know a year from now you're not gonna it's gonna start just fine so yeah if you're going to store a saw make sure there's no gas in it not just make sure there isn't but burn all the gas out of the fuel lines and everything all right now i really like this saw this um jaunt this guy uh john from john's custom saws on instagram he built this for me so this is a custom built ms 261 this is 50 cc's so it's a really a pretty small saw and you can see he's got it you know he had it decked out american flag for me put some of my stickers on it i've got the west coast saw three-point dogs on here i really like the aftermarket dogs most people well maybe not most people but a lot of people run aftermarket dogs where i live because our bark is so thick that the stock dogs that come on the saw is usually um you know like this you know like this is my 500 eye like these these smaller dogs they work pretty good for most trees but you get into something with really thick bark like a big dug fur or something and they just don't grab that well so i like the three point dogs this is a 20 inch samurai lightweight bar this bar is really cool um same thing this is aluminum these this checkered pattern right here and um i i like this bar a lot these have everybody i know that i've talked to that runs these seems to like them i stuff um it's just a paper towel in here so that doesn't leak bar oil when i'm storing it in my garage um but this has also been ported out and then i've got the west coast saw power port on the side here and he also put this cool he actually took this from another 200 and put this on the back so i clip this to my harness right here because i use this is my go-to saw when i'm doing crane work because it's light but i've got you know quite a bit more bar than with my top handle chainsaw so i can do pretty big picks with this saw comfortably and because it's light it's nice to move around in the tree this is the only rear handle saw that i have that doesn't have the full wrap handle even though this saw is really small i really wish i had a full wrap handle i called around i did research john also tried to find one i couldn't find a full wrap handle for this saw i really like the full wrap handles i mean you you might not have ever tried one and you might not think it matters but i mean you can you have twice as many places you can hold the saw you know if you're trying to do this you're really muscling it whereas if you've got the handle here you know you can just hold it like that on both sides so i'm a huge fan of the full wrap handle i wish i could have it for the saw but it just doesn't exist but it's no big deal oh i've also we have a bar wrench and then also with this before you take the cover off choke it so it closes up the intake so you don't get gunk in there i've also got a foam out foam air filter that's pretty dirty that gordy makes so let's go saw foam air filter on here so that it you know sucks air in more efficiently so i really love this saw it's a also this has been converted to 3 8 i think it was i think it's like quarter inch pitch or something when you get it it's got a skinnier chain usually so i put a thicker chain on it um because you can you know you can more easily square grind and you just get a bigger a bigger bite out of the 3 8 chain so i did convert this saw to have a different bar and chain set up so that's my ms-261 i call it my screamin eagle because you know america and that brings us to our next one oh wait no this is our next one this is my 462. so i really really like this saw i i had an old uh 460 years ago and i love that saw i thought that was just the best saw ever and um i i honestly think this is the and i've ran quite a few 460 ones i honestly think this is the best 46 series that still has ever made i say by the way i say still some people say steal i don't know how you're supposed to say it same thing some people say husqvarna some people say husqvarna some people say husky say whatever you want i call it i call it husqvarna and also you'll notice i don't i don't have a lot of husqvarnas but that's not for any particular reason i i like i like using both um husqvarna and still i think they both make really good saws where i live it's more culturally people they run still more it's easier to get them serviced they're a lot more still dealerships so most people run still around where i live so it really just depends where you live regionally what people are going to use but the idea that you know you've got basically two saw manufacturers that make most of the saws you know the idea that one of them makes bad saws and one of them makes good sauces you know it's always seemed kind of silly to me like they they both make good sauce that's why they're the two companies that people use i mean echo is kind of coming up and you know there there are some other brands out there but it really comes down to still in husqvarna they both make really good saws i like both of them i have a lot more experience with still than i do with husqvarna um so i'm not you know i like both but i ran a lot more stills than i have huskies but this is the 46 and so like i said i think this is the best 4 46 they've ever made the throttle response on this saw is crazy it's crazy light this always like 13 pounds i really love the saw this is a 28 inch oregon light bar and i've got the west coast saw bark box on here um this has the full wrap handle like i was talking about you know like i said you can just you know you can hold it like that when you're each so you can cut on either side a lot more comfortably than just holding it like this and muscling it i keep this little this little the i think they call this a pigtail they keep it just helps it rack up my harness a little more easily because of the saw lanyard if you just clip the saw lanyard here sometimes it interferes with this so if you put a little pigtail on there then the carabiner doesn't mess with the throttle so i really like this saw for in the tree on bigger trees like when i'm chunking down firewood that's really this is a really nice saw that i like in the tree um when it's a bit bigger wood than what i would use my 261 for but i also use it on the ground a lot for small saws i mean i just this this one also has an air foam air filter under the hood i can take this off and uh chill this one's also really dirty but aftermarket foam air filter it uh these little things oh and this is ported by madsen so this is the madsen's power tune if you call madison's up in centralia washington they they can port your saw out they do it they do it pretty cheap too and it makes a really big difference on the saw on the saws all these little things you know upgrading the muffler the air filter having imported out it really really makes a difference and that's why most people that once you have one built saw people tend to stick with you know souped up saws because you really notice a big difference all those little things they they really add up incrementally that being said if your chain's not sharp none of that stuff really matters you know you can have a hot rod saw and if you are running a dull chain then you know any old saw with a sharp chain will out cut you so that's important so on the big saws i typically run square ground chain on the smaller ones i just do those with a round file jed has a like a cymington chain grinder and he'll grind all the chains in the shop in the morning so it's really it's actually really nice i just hang up my dull chains and then he sharpens them for us so that's super convenient so you know i appreciate jed for doing that but uh yeah so square chain cuts uh i think 23 faster than round but uh round can still cut really really well but either way this is the the 462 oh and these are safety pro felling dogs so these are different than the west coast saw ones but the same thing they're you know high carbon steel they are a bit longer than the dogs that come on the saw and they're they're really great they work really well most of these saws have captive bar nuts um that's you know been in development over the last few years which i really like the captive barnett's they're they're pretty great so i really i really love that saw and next we have the 500i i still i haven't this is just bone stock i still haven't done anything to this saw i still want to upgrade the filter and the muffler and have it ported and stuff but i just haven't gotten around to to doing anything else with it but even that being said this is a really awesome saw this song it's almost the the same as the 462 honestly it's a it's really really similar when you're running it the way it feels great throttle response really light just a hair heavier it's a bit more powerful that saw is you know all hot rotted out so that one is stronger than this one because this one's stock but once i get this souped up i'm sure this will outperform that one this is a 32 inch oregon light bar full skip chain um and that's another thing i'm not even going to get into the chain sequencing because they have the full skip full comp semi skip and you know i'll do different variations of those depending on what saw it is but uh yeah maybe that on a different video that stuff can get kind of kind of confusing but so these are just the stock dogs but also i've got the full wrap handle um yeah not much to really show on this one i really like this saw for you know just working the ground for felling you know medium to large trees it works really well for bucking wood just a nice overall ground saw i like the 32 inch bar a lot it's probably my favorite saw for working the ground because most men so like an average sized man which i am an average size man the 32 inch bar is really nice because the average man's legs are 32 inches long so you can imagine if i am holding the saw like this and the bar is at an angle and i'm on level ground i know that the tip can't be hitting the ground i'm not sure if i've talked about that before or not but you know if you have a like a 36 inch bar or something and i'm doing this then the tip will be hitting the ground if i have a 28 inch bar then i've got to kind of bend over a little bit so if i'm just you know cutting stuff on the ground i know that i can you know be relaxed and i can just cut because you you want to stand straight up if you can it's a lot more comfortable than slouching over or um you know so the posture is important so the 32 is nice because i know that i'm not going to hit the ground unless it's like there's a rock or a hill or something so i really like that size and um i really like this saw too now we'll keep moving up i got three more saws to go grab them over here grab these over here all right all right now this this is probably this is probably my favorite saw that i have this is my ms661 that west coast saw built my buddy gordy um he built this was the first saw that he did for me this i've had this for about two years or something and i really love this saw i i ran i was apprehensive to buy this at first because i had ran several 661s and i wasn't really that big of a fan of them i thought they seemed kind of dog-ish um and gordy really recommended that i get this from him when i asked him what kind of saw i should get and i did and i'm really glad i did because i got because this this is a really really good saw a lot of power it's really fun to run really good throttle response it's a bit heavier than the other saws but it's you know it's 90 cc's in case i didn't mention the the 462 with 70 cc's and the 500i was 80 cc's and this is 90 cc's and it's a bit heavier the power to weight ratio isn't as good on this as the 500i so this is a bit heavier but you have a lot of pat this is a really strong saw i really like it i've got the west west coast saw three-point felling dogs full comp chain i've got the bark box um yeah and then this is a max flow air filter and this is a foam or air filter too made by max flow that is really dirty man i really need to clean these so i really should clean these um so yeah that is the and then yeah full wrap handle my paper towel my trusty paper towel and i like this for you know bigger trees um you know it's just it's basically i like the bigger sauce for the bigger trees i like to have long bars basically everybody in the pacific northwest the region which i work everybody here pretty much runs long bars um big dogs so we've got we got big trees and we got thick bark so this is a really nice saw for just big cuts because it's so hot rotted out i kind of i don't really use this for uh like i wouldn't use this for milling or anything um if you're going to be doing a lot of milling um i it's probably best that you just run the the stock saws a stock large cc saw because those are kind of designed to be you know ran that way ran for a really long time they get really hot and so you don't really want to be using like hot rodded saws for milling and stuff you probably want to use a stock saw so i don't do any milling with my saws um but i use this all you know buck large firewood or you know fell big trees and i really like the saw this is a 30 yeah i think i already said it's a 36 inch still light bar as far as i know this only still makes a 36 inch light bar there are other light bars you can buy but they don't go quite that long the longer the light bar the more floppy it gets so they tend to stop making them after 36 inches but this is a really nice bar um inbred jed has the same bar on his husky you can buy a little tiny adapter and you can put the still bar on the husky and that's a really nice combo and this is a really nice combo in this saw so i love this bar i love the saw i just i love everything about this saw so we got two more to go okay so this might also be my favorite saw all my saws are my favorite sauce they're like my kids you know i can't just you know i don't want to play favorites but i i really like this saw too it oh so as far as like a stock really big chainsaw goes like if i didn't have any work done to my sauce the husky 395 in my opinion is just unmatched in the power or when you run it you just are going to notice like holy crap this thing is really strong saw it's 95 cc's so it's just a hair bigger than the 661 when you get it but as soon as you get it it's an old saw that this design has been around i think since the 90s they haven't really changed anything on it it's a really stiff sturdy just really tough rugged saw it's got a ton of power and so this would be a really good saw for uh milling if you didn't want to get um if you're gonna do you know large trees or firewood or milling you know a combination of those things um this is the 395 is a really awesome saw they've been around forever they're just you know stock they're they're just really good sauce this one has been ported from madsen's it also has the power tune i've also got gordy's three-point dogs on here and i've got a power port on there too from gordy and then i've got the full wrap handle and then yeah just a regular hair filter on this i opened it up so i was like do it i don't have a foam filter dude on this do i i don't anyways um the i love this saw so this saw um i used to have a this is actually the second one i've owned and i noticed on the first one when i first got one i had a 32 inch bar and then i put a 42 inch on it for like a like some big stumps or something i noticed that this saw will run a 42 inch bar no different than a 32 inch bar it has so much it's just such a strong running saw so i have just had a 42 inch bar on this thing for years because it just is a really comfortable i use this for like a you know a lot of big stumps big you know crane picks big cuts i like the long bar on crane picks i really like to be through the cut all the way i don't want to have to like walk around and try to figure out you know try to match up my cuts and stuff when i'm doing crane picks because you can end up with like a weird sliver of wood in the center and it can it can really suck trying to deal with that so but this saw it just runs the this long bar so well i i love this saw i i actually don't um i don't run this saw that often as much as no that's not true i run this i run all these saws really often i actually i do because i mean we do we do big trees and so yeah that's the husky 395. i would like to run more huskies i'd like to try some more um i just don't have that much experience with them um but i've had like i said this is the second 395 that i've had over the years the downside to this is it vibrates a lot and because of that it does kind of rattle parts loose so you'll kind of notice like nuts and bolts will start going missing on this thing after a while and um also the you know some of the plastic bits like the choke is kind of cheesy like these like to break the ignition switch right here likes to break and go out um so it's got some cheesy part the chain tensioner really sucks it's not on the side it's like on the inside right here and it's it's really it's just awkward to tighten the chain so it's got some uh it's an old saw it's been around forever and they haven't changed anything and i hope that they don't i hope the saw stays around for a lot longer because it's a really it's a really legendary saw it's like like this is like for big saws what the 200 is for small saws everybody knows the saw's got a really good reputation been around for a long time it's an awesome saw that's the husky 395. we got one more saw okay okay you can see me run the saw i was just running this in that big maple removal that i did so this is my 880 this is the saw that i use the least out of all these but um when you need it it's nice to have this saw can pull so this is a seven foot bar right here and i actually have um i'll record it too there's a lady had an old growth fur tree fall in her yard and it's like blocking her door like barely mr house it's like straight up old growth and uh mud so a few days from now i'll be going out and cutting that and i'm actually going to be running this bar this is so the seven foot bar this saw pulls it this so if you remember when i was talking about the um you know my the little saws not really that much difference in porting it out that i can tell in the power this saw gordy ported this out at west coast saw and it's like this thing is not even you can't even compare it to a stock 88 this thing has a ton of power and everything about it is it's way peppier way more throttle response this is like a really really good saw i've got a lot of work into this this is a 50 inch canon bar this is 404 chain um i converted i converted the saw to 3 8 and i like the 3 8 better than the 404 it's a it's a smaller chain the 404 it kind of clogs up with sawdust sometimes it doesn't work that well but i've got like a whole spool of 404 so i put that so i'm trying to run through all that chain and then i'll switch out the tips and just convert it to three eighths um totally because i have one one bar that fits it from the three eighths but the these ones are still 404 i'll just switch out the tips then i'll just run 3 8 on this because i like that better but this is a 50 inch bar it pulls it very very easily this is a max flow air filter so it's really similar to my 66 in regards to the modifications so it's a max flow foam air filter and then we've got this gigantic bark box it's huge and then um yeah and the mufflers poured it out too so this saw and then gordy said that he did something else to it to give it more power and then it didn't tell me what it was wouldn't tell me what it was i don't know but it runs really well it's a really strong saw i really like running it but i get really tired running it because it weighs like a million pounds so i don't run it that often but when i need it it's really nice to have it's nice to have the long bar that bar i really hate running that thing i've only had to use it like twice so it'll be three times once i cut up this giant fur that's on the ground it's like eight feet in diameter that's where i gotta cut up so that bar it's nice when you need it but uh it's not really that nice because it's really heavy and then these are safety pro dogs on here too um you know once again high carbon steel longer dogs and it uh it works it works really well and it actually saves a lot of you know like importing the stuff out actually it saves a lot of time you know when you've got a lot of wood to cut and it makes it really enjoyable to to run this i cannot believe that they sell this saw without a full wrap handle but that's how it they sell it in most places it's just bizarre i i just can't wrap my mind my mind around if you've ever ran saws with full wrap handles they're they're just objectively better you just gotta trust me if you if you're running these big saws and you don't have it you gotta you gotta you gotta trust me on that it's better and you gotta trust me on uh this duckworth clothing i'm wearing too this is the comet hoodie i'm wearing it i love it you need to click the link in the description and check out duckworth wool clothing it's really great they make it all in the usa it's awesome stuff you're going to love it it's nice and warm you don't have to wear such thick material because it's wool it insulates better so this is a rather thin hoodie but it's pretty warm because you know it's uh it's wool and it's really soft you're going to be surprised how soft it is so go click the link in my description check out duckworth wool and that's about it for all my chainsaws so i hope you like that sort of video let me know in the description if that was something you enjoyed i you know i had a lot of people reco wreck ask me if i could do a video like this but i was kind of apprehensive because i was wondering like is that really going to be that entertaining if i just go through all my chainsaws so let me let me know if you like that sort of thing then i can do you know more more videos like this um the the reason i did the video today is because amelia wanted to do a chainsaw video so i'll put that in after this my daughter did a chainsaw a chainsaw video that you can check out she also reviewed my chainsaws so i'll put that in at the end of the video but hopefully you like that don't forget to like and subscribe if you if you just watch me go through all my songs and you still haven't subscribed i just i don't know i don't know what to tell you you like look how long you've been sitting here just for the love of god just subscribe already why wouldn't you it takes you like no time it's just one button just push subscribe come on please and like the video too that's also good but i mean seriously you just watched that whole thing just subscribe it takes like one second and i hope you have a great day and so that's it for um all my chainsaws so all right i'll see you guys how do they do it you say these are my chainsaws show us your chainsaws that's what i do just show us your chainsaws and why don't you talk about them so these are my dad's chainsaws yeah he gets down trees all the time with them yeah they're kind of heavy for me but you know um they are pretty sharp when they're on because they're a little bit sharp when they're off but they get really sharper when you're on when they're on yeah yeah because it cuts down trees yeah what other chainsaws are there i'll show us the other ones well i'll show you the other ones and these ones are also the same as this one but they're all pretty fluffy but this is the end of this video good job you
