[Music] wow all right we're out here in seattle on this ah wow it was really steep on this big broken maple look at that so this thing's dying it's covered in some dead vines this thing failed this big leader broke out and the guys are down there trying to dice it up um they want the rest of this tree removed because it leans towards their house [Applause] so so we're gonna do that for them um this is really steep so this is a down only job so we're just dicing up all the brush but we're not gonna be hauling this stuff away and chipping it and it's it's a pretty dense woods back here that the driveway is really narrow just not enough room for any big trucks here so we're just gonna get this thing on the ground it's pretty big jed and i are gonna both climb it well the guys are dicing all that stuff up i gotta go grab my saw so it should be kind of a fun job this is we're out here on a saturday so our week is already packed but this is kind of an emergency situation the guys are nibbling away at that thing and i'm gonna grab my saw and get headed up there with jed you can see that the drag would be really narrow it's a ton of material [Music] tiny little driveway so this one's just down only i get asked a lot what bluetooth setups we use is just the cena smh-10 it's one of the more basic models they've got some newer ones that are more advanced but i tried those and they didn't work in the rain so ended up going back to the older the older cena's smh-10 so they are they're just cutting that stuff back trying to get it tossed up onto the hillside trying to get out of these folks's yard check out this koi pond okay all right i'm under you jed want me to give you like a top rope jig to borrow from the rock climbers and then you can like have spurs and just go up like single line yeah if you just clip my rope to that big branch right there [Music] yeah that'd be good i'll clip that on in a second [Music] okay so you can see where this thing broke out that they are whittling away five of them here's the other half of the tree so this tree is compromised it's got a bunch of decay a bunch of rot it's really big and it leans really hard so culmination of those factors they want this thing gone and i would too always want to make sure you have a stopper knot in the end of your rope so if you are rappelling down and you hit this you'll stop instead of fall off the end of your rope i knew a guy that didn't have a knot like that in his rope and put another one in there just to be safe anyways he died he fell off of his rope when doing a crane removal and fell 80 feet under concrete so just putting those little knots in there it really can save your life [Music] all right you're clipped on thanks for the pants clogger this is a clogger defender pros they're nice for the fall a little thicker than the zeros okay you're safe up here jake all right thank you what are you climbing on is that ester lawn that was blue at one point oh wow okay so [Music] [Music] so [Music] wow [Music] um [Music] [Music] oh great rope placement [Music] okay so look at this thing it's all full of decayed pockets everywhere tons of decay tons of big dead just looms out over that house what a big nasty tree [Applause] [Music] i'm gonna cut some of this ivy jed [Applause] oh [Music] [Applause] no [Music] [Music] jed's working that side i'm gonna head on over there but i think i want to tie in right there before i walk out i think i want to tie into your stick before i head on out there i'm going to tie into that i was going that way i figured you'd go that way oh you're going that way that's what i had set up in my head oh okay um our ropes are crossed uh it doesn't matter okay yeah i can pull that yeah no we're good never mind so what are you gonna tie into that one you're on yeah i'll just go up the center i'll tie in the center line [Music] yeah this is going to go pretty quick [Music] yeah this is nice man this thing is snotty this this moss is like a sponge [Music] oh wow look at this hanger i know dude i tried that too i'm like i'll cut it out oh that's kind of gross yeah dude you can come up here why not yeah okay i'll just hand you this [Laughter] okay um [Music] well have fun eh yeah man it's not gonna take long no i'm just gonna take here's my plan i'm gonna take that with big yeah and just hold she sticks if she's big she's not might be able to spirit pop just try to spirit into the hill yeah yeah she's not gonna go under especially if you leave the forks on it yeah leave some prongs on her there you go all right well i'll be over here [Music] so he's headed out there to do that side i'm gonna do that side i got the easy [Music] side wow [Applause] hey jen i'm gonna send her that way this one um that nasty sewage water nasty [Music] um [Music] ordinarily i'd cut something like this flush so i don't snag stuff but because i'm on the hillside if i leave these nubs it'll help jam into the ground and make it less likely to roll towards the this house [Music] [Music] nice i felt that move over here i felt that move everything you cut i feel it like moving the tree over here in case anybody's wondering why we don't just fall it there there's no way you'd be able to get this thing it just leans too hard it's too rotten bad angles would be dangerous no way you'd be able to fall this thing up the hill safely [Music] so we take it down in pieces [Music] [Music] [Music] i don't always do this but putting these little relief cuts in the bark on maples sometimes this bark hangs on really long and it'll like peel down and a big chunk of bark will come out here and pull my flip line and stuff if you just sever the bark right there then that can't happen so it makes it a little safer usually most trees nothing happens but maple sometimes it peels out so i do it on this species cedars sometimes but usually i don't put those little notches in [Music] [Applause] there [Music] this particular tree i'm gonna try to take long chunks that way they're less likely to roll down the hill [Applause] [Music] hey i do got a big branch are you all safe far away okay [Music] ooh doggy [Music] okay [Music] so the top leans this way stick leans this way so i come up here and just take that part that way and then stick that way if i tried to take it lower i'd be fighting gravity and i'd have to have a rope or something so just go up and take a little tiny top easier that way [Music] okay headache wow [Music] um [Music] oh thank you [Music] wow okay jed so i guess i'll just head on down okay cool all right so this thing's pretty brushed out we're just leaving these arms right here we're gonna try to follow this thing that way and hope that it just sticks in the ground it will it'll stick in the ground [Music] um [Music] [Applause] wow [Music] [Music] [Applause] i mean the tree made such a mess i can't even get out of here gotta cut my way out [Applause] [Music] nice job jed that was fun so we so we're all brushed out just gonna fall those two stems and then we'll just dice everything up just spend the rest of the day dicing so it's actually going really smoothly so that loose stuff should we just try and chuck it in here or something like that the loose stuff the smaller the better smaller right but the but the actual wood itself the longer the better one longer the better and yeah if it seems jiggly at all throw it in here okay because we're not gonna do anything with this no no really [Music] wow wow i almost got it i was like trying to get away and i had to like just stop because i was like falling all over this thing what a snotty dude that's how they wear corks well good good save that was scary that was scary yeah it's all good because that's why they wear corks that's why they wear corks dude it's so slippery [Music] so you're gonna climb up there for that one again and that way i won't almost kill myself yeah it's safer so see how hard it is to stand anywhere it's actually safer to stand in spurs so he's gonna stand in spurs for that one yeah that's crazy all right i'm gonna go get it with the drone dude so slippery [Music] [Applause] [Music] um [Music] [Music] wow oh looks good to me [Music] um you can just set it in that cavity or something yeah it's fine oh that's a paper [Music] what's that amazing amount of uh ac the leaves are just we should use it as a blower most expensive air conditioner that's nice yeah thanks for recording that no problem all right now we just got to dice it all up so dicing all this stuff down does a few things one it removes we're gonna get rid of like you know dangerous hanging stuff stuff that's hung up um and then but also we want to make it really small as small as possible that way this will all decompose more quickly the smaller the pieces are more quickly it'll decompose and then faster that'll turn the dirt which will make it less likely to catch fire and it'll just be nicer up here once this stuff starts decomposing so we want to dice everything up small as we can and the hillside will look a lot better afterwards [Applause] wow [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] oh [Music] all right everybody so that's about it for the big rotten seattle maple so we're almost all the way we're almost all the way for us books this is called it's called forest bucking we'll be out of here in just a
