Etsy Shipping Profiles Print On Demand Tutorial - Printful & Printify Integration

hey guys what's up luis here welcome to my channel and today i want to talk about something extremely important which is creating shipping profiles on etsy it will help you save a lot of money trust me so let's do it if you're selling on etsy through printful or any other print on the main platform like printfy you will have to create shipping profiles now printful might create these for you at least that's what they did before but now there was some sort of change on etsy so i think you will have to create your own shipping profiles manually even if you don't i would recommend that you do so and i will explain why a lot of you guys might be in the same situation as me so that is basically i sell print on the main products to the whole world but my main market is the united states most of my orders come from the united states so my products are optimized for the u.s market and that includes the prices now the thing is if you want to stay competitive in the u.s market you have a certain limit you know that you can you can price your products um another thing is it's highly recommended that you offer free shipping because first of all a lot of people offer free shipping so it's a way to keep up with your competition now that is not so hard um when you're selling to the us market you can you can price your products at a decent price through printful and offer free shipping and you can still have a healthy profit of maybe for example if you're selling a t-shirt you can make around five dollars of profit um by selling a t-shirt now the problem arises when you're selling to other parts of the world and you still want to offer free shipping so for example if you're selling to australia australia has first of all higher base costs from printful so that means when you're fulfilling your order in australia to an australian customer um you will pay more for your product shipping will also cost more in australia so at the end of the day you might end up losing money if you're selling to a to an australian customer customer just because you are pricing your products based on the us market and not on the australian market now the way to and i have lost money a few times selling to australia selling to canada selling to new zealand now the way that i've found to offset this problem is to offer free shipping to the united states and i also offer free shipping to europe and to the uk i think but to other countries for example canada australia new zealand and the rest of the world basically i decided to charge for shipping just because otherwise i would just lose money by making a sale now obviously i will have less sales um to these places but at least i will not lose any money so the the way to do this is to create a shipping profile and depending on the on the on the cost of shipping to a certain country you will offset that cost by um adding a different amount of uh of shipping costs to your shipping profile so the customer will have to pay extra to have that product delivered um for them now let me show you guys what i mean um when you come to your etsy shop here you want to go to settings and then shipping settings and here you will see if you're using printful you will have a bunch of you might have a bunch of different shipping profiles that have been created automatically by printful but what you can do is just add a new profile and then you will be taken to a page like this i'll just click on this one edit because that's the one i use for my t-shirts so i can show you guys now what i do is i always select country of origin uh the united states even though um sometimes when the product is being fulfilled in like i said in australia and canada and europe you might have a different country of origin it doesn't really matter so just uh leave united states here the zip code i believe i'm using the printful facility in north carolina so you can you can look it up i don't think it matters so much but i believe this is the one in north carolina now this is where things start to get interesting processing time is the once the buyer places an order how long it takes for us or in this case for printful to prepare the order to package and to send it out now you can find this information here on the printful website now this one is one of the they have a bunch of like a blog thing going on here so you can find this how long does fulfillment take if you're selling a pair of products so t-shirts hoodies you know all kinds of clothes and and hats and everything else um this fulfillment time or processing time is two to seven business days if it's not a pair of products then like posters mugs phone cases it's two to five uh business days now they say that 98 of the time the the orders are shipped within five business days but just ignore that and stick to this value here of two to seven business days if you're selling um an apparel product uh just to be on the safe side so you can use this to enter this information here on your etsy shipping profile so that's why i have two to seven business days select this one and this is your processing time now this is where you have to do a little bit of work the fixed shipping prices now for the united states you can i mean for every country you can just choose and all these options here so for the shipping carrier i don't really know what they use i don't care just select other for everything the delivery time i will show you guys in a second where you find this information and then what you will charge so in this case for the united states always free shipping and then for example for australia i will select a fixed price and i will charge 5 euros 99 cents now this is completely up to you i will show you guys the delivery time and the uh printful shipping costs so you can decide by yourself how much you want to charge you can always make an extra money um on the shipping also you can you can charge more if you want or charge less for your product for example so they are priced um very low on etsy to attract customers and then you charge more for for shipping just to offset that um discount that you're offering on the product this type of strategy is completely up to you i tend to stick to um shipping costs they're similar to the ones that printful charges but that could be an interesting strategy actually to to drop your prices for the base product just so just so on etsy it will show as a very cheap t-shirt and then you will offset that discount by charging more for shipping it could be a good strategy just to give you guys an idea you can also charge for additional item i don't really do that but because most of my orders are one item anyway but in theory you want to have this page as complete as possible what i have for now is just australia canada iceland a few countries and then i think i have european union as a whole even though i saw that they have different times for the european union so i might change that but anyway guys let me show you where you can find this information so you can complete this page by yourselves and just one more thing if you scroll all the way down you can just add a new location so you can keep adding new places you can always select everywhere else if you're feeling lazy but you can always add another location you click here and then you select they have all the countries here so you just select whatever you want like you have this europe non-eu you have you know everything every single country is here so you can you can have this as complete as possible all right now for the uh shipping speeds let me show you this so if you go on the printful website you have this slash shipping page or just type printful shipping on google and you will be taken to this page and if you scroll down here you can select for each product so in this case i'm selecting for uh t-shirts you have this list of all the shipping times and shipping prices from printful so this is excluding um and processing time that i showed you guys before obviously now you have for each country the shipping time and the price for shipping for a single product and the additional products so you can add all this information here on your etsy shipping profile so it will be as complete as possible and you will cover every single situation so you have all the i'll just scroll down quickly so you guys can see you have all the countries here see how fast it is for the uk for example for france only two to four business days and also quite cheap so for those countries i usually tend to offer free shipping just because it's a nice i think it's a nice bonus for a customer when they see there is free shipping even though this strategy might not be that that good after all this is just my way of doing things you might want to try something different um so just you know have a look at this page they will show you everything i believe this is only for europe yes this is only including europe but you can actually find all the information you want right here so this is the best way actually to find for each country for each specific country and i kind of blame printful for this one because it's not so straightforward to find all this information and complete your shipping profiles on etsy so it's kind of a long process to to find all this but basically what you can do is for example the the item that i sell the most is the gildan 64 000 t-shirt so if you go to the catalog you go to the product page just open the the product page here on printful and if you scroll down now i'm in in georgia so it's estimating the delivery time to georgia by the way amazing country i highly recommend you guys to come to georgia uh beautiful place but anyway if you scroll all the way down not all the way actually but if you scroll a little bit down you have this part here where it says shipping and then you can choose the country so if your country is missing on that list that i showed you guys before you can just click here and look for any country so let's for example do united states you click on the united states it will give you the delivery time five to eight business days the cost of shipping the first item 339 and the next item 130. and here you have all the countries so you can choose whatever you want let's choose my home country brazil and let's see i think it's a pretty actually it's not so bad they i think they have a fulfillment facility in brazil actually if i'm not mistaken but anyway um five to seven business days first i item uh four euros and five cents next item two years and 25 cents so basically you just have to come here look for every single country that you want look at canada for example you will see that it's much higher so six to nine business days 549 australia is even worse i think six to nine business days six nineteen so see how easy it is to lose money when you offer free shipping to all to the whole world basically if you get billed six euros and 19 cents for one item and you're offering free shipping and you're you're basing your your prices on the u.s market you will lose money for sure that's what what was happening to me so that's why i decided to make this video so you just have to you know take this information here come to your shipping profile um click on the select a new country if you still if you already don't have it here australia and then delivery time although i should change this because i have two to five business days and it says six to nine so i'm actually not um you know in accordance to printful i have to update my my page here it's a good thing that i see this now uh but anyway so you should have six to nine business days and then you will charge a fixed amount so i'm charging six euros even though the price is 619 i just figured i would charge um six euros and i was happy with that kind of profit um but be careful because you don't you want to avoid this for some reason i have the wrong delivery time also i would recommend you guys to keep an eye on the printful website every well i don't have to do it every day but maybe every month have a look because they do change their shipping prices they do change their shipping times so you will want to be up to date to those especially to the to the countries that you sell the most so that would be at least for me united states canada uk europe and australia um so you would want to be up to date to uh at least these countries to make sure you're you know especially now that the holidays are coming q4 is coming so your sales will probably start to pick up you will have printful will be working extra hours also because of christmas so delays might happen so you will want to be on the safe side here in order to avoid any sort of uh penalty from from etsy or especially if you're selling on amazon sellers central amazon is very careful with all this uh kind of delivery thing um estimated delivery
