Step into the enigmatic embrace of this ancient  French chateau, shrouded in mysteries that weave   through the tapestries of time, tracing  its origins to the 15th or 16th century.  Within its walls, valuable family history has  remained in its chambers. Delving into its   rooms reveals the life of Mr. Alexis Bego,  who once presided over this grand edifice.  At a mere age of 20 years old, Alexis  embarked on global odysseys in state service,   braving the Crimean War and defying odds even  after losing both of his legs. His seafaring   prowess earned him the title of sea captain  and accolades as Knight of the Legion of   Honor. Remarkably, he graced this world for  104 years, until 1928, when he passed away.  Upon his passing, his eleven  children inherited the chateau,   yet evidence suggests it lay largely untouched,  preserving its vivid past. An ancient letter,   dated 1821, predates Alexis's birth,  entwining deeper the castle's enigma.  Throughout, vestiges of a German  connection linger, whether borne of   familial ties or the scars of conflict. Join us as we tread the halls of this   historical haven, uncovering every  hidden tale and forgotten corner. (♫ Explomo Official Opener Title) When we filmed this place, we used new microphones  for the first time using the wrong settings. Due   to this, the audio turned out to be corrupted. Given this place is now alarmed,   it is impossible to revisit this place. Yet, we still wanted to share this place with you.  We provided the video with captions  to enhance the viewer’s experience.  Our apologies for the inconvenience. Today we have a beautiful place   in France again to show you. And first instance we think it   actually belonged to a German family, right? - Yeah, yeah, we can see many, many German   artifacts here so definitely,  definitely belonged to Germans.  And we are not alone we're also accompanied by our  friend Desmond from Dutch Urbex Explorations who's   accompanying us today on this exploration. So make sure to check his channel out too.  And yeah before it's really dark today  let's explore this place right now.  - Yeah. We don't know a   lot yet but we're going to find out more probably  after our exploration. Right now it's just time to   explore and dig into the beautiful history inside  this abandoned manor. - Yeah, let's go, man.  Let's go. So we're gonna   start this exploration in the main hallway where  the people once used to come inside every day.  - Yep and as you can see there's  so much stuff left over here.  It's like dumped all over the place. All over the place from tools,   to a walking cane, an umbrella, and  even a lot of clothes are on the ground.  - Yep and over there’s a  Grundig radio, a very big one.  Oh yeah. - Damn.  You know there is so much to point out. A painting of a castle  I’m wondering, it's probably nearby somewhere. - All these tools  Looks like they were working here and  eventually they just left it like this.  - Yep. Oh, what are those?  Oh, those are all encyclopedias. You can tell it's written in German,   Enzyklopädie. - So yeah definitely   German relatives that used to live here. And look on top of it, this kind of Gondola.  - Damn. Even still a bicycle over   here right next to the front door. - And what is this?  It's a bicycle from Peugeot. - Really?  I never knew they made bicycles. - Oh and this is a sun protector?  This is sunscreen. - Sunscreen, right?  For in the garden. - Oh but look.  A mask over here. Oh yeah.  That's quite eerie. - I can definitely tell   that there used to be a family. It’s from Michael Meyers, right?  - Yeah from Michael Meyers. I can tell there was a family living here once.  So, actually, we're exploring a chateau right now  because there is also a tower and you can already   see the architecture over here. It's like a spiral.  We're gonna explore the upstairs later. I'm curious how that's gonna be.  - Yeah. For now, let's   just explore the first floor because there is a  lot to see over here. An old ornament over here.  - Well, there’s a lot to pan out, man. But over here there’s just mainly, I to say,   equipment, like— Yeah.  They’ve dumped a lot over here. Again a lot of tools, in these drawers.  - Yeah it’s just mainly tools, man. So, it's quite hard to have an overview.  Maybe there’s something in the cabinet over here.  Or is it a closet? Well, it’s actually a closet   and there are some body warmers. I think they were used for hunting.  Oh yeah. - With the green color.  And over here’s a plate and it  says, thank you in French, merci.  And it's dating from 1988. You can also see all the mold   over here already on the wallpaper. - Yeah, loads of white mold.  And look this is actually a hat from Quebec  in Canada, the French part of Canada. So we   have a name over here. - Binesteau, hmm…  Binesteau, that doesn't sound quite German. Hmm, yeah, I think he was a French-German.  Okay, so, going from the main entrance  hall to the main living quarters.  And over here comes the interesting part. Wow.  Look at this room. - It's so beautiful.  And for a small place like this, well— Small?  Yeah, it is a chateau. If you see it from the outside,   the exterior has towers and everything. - Yeah, it does, it does.  We have this record player. The crystal glasses over here.  All the crystalware is still inside. - Look on top.  Oh, yeah, on top we also have things from Austria. And look at that person, an old lady indeed.  And all the walls are actually wood. Look at the woodwork, how intricate it is.  But also, how mold is just  taking over, the white mold.  All those tiny artifacts. - All is just porcelain.  What is this? It's beautiful, this little plate.  - I thought it was made from copper but— What is written on the other side?  - Alfonso Fusco Amalfi Decamanco. Probably the man who made it.  Look at this ashtray. Vintage, cool.  A small napkin, also German. Yeah, there are so many German,   like, signs over here, I would say. And have a look at this massive   fireplace, like, massive fireplace. Wow.  That is truly beautiful. - It's unbelievable, right?  It’s a massive one like you say. What’s the emblem over there?  Maybe even a family coat of arms. - Look, look.  Middle of the table we have another sign  of evidence that they were definitely   Germans, a German flag. We also  have old portraits over here.  Look at that. Oh wow.  The family definitely has a lot of history  in all those different family generations   that went back. Probably this was a pretty  noble class family that once lived here.  - Yeah, definitely. Wow.  So, what is this again? Oh, this was actually, I believe a bed-warming pan   because you see how long it is? So they put hot  coals inside of here in this pan or pot and they   could actually put it right down under the bed. - Have you seen this?  Yeah, the emblem is the eagle, right? From Germany.  There’s chinaware over there. - I really like this vase, the details.  It’s pretty modern actually. Yeah, some modern art.  A sconce over here. - Do you think this   was the man that used to live here? Maybe it was the great-grandfather of the family.  What do we have on the desk over here? It’s a VHS player.  A little stamp over here. - Yep.  A card from a supermarket Well, there are actually many cards over here.  There's even a pipe. - Oh yeah.  I didn't even notice it because of the tape. Why would they put tape on it?  Well, then maybe first head  down to the kitchen I think?  Yeah. Let's first go to the kitchen   because the kitchen is over here on the left-hand  side. It’s a very messy kitchen as you can tell.  - And I think over here, we need  to be a little bit more quiet.  Yeah, we were already very quiet, I think. Just stealth mode.  A lot of stuff. Look at the things on top as well.  - Yeah. The jugs.  "Le chausseur Francais". That means "the hunter, the French hunter".  - The French hunter, yeah. "Die Schwarzwald Klinik".  Everything in this kitchen is left and  I especially like the tiles over there.  - Yeah. They have a very   German-ish style, don’t you think so? Yeah well I find,   I don't know if it's really German. The woodwork makes me look like this   is a German-style castle, you know? - The tiles could also be very Dutch.  Yeah, Dutch. - Alright, well, pan through, man.  It's a pretty narrow space. Wow.  Looking at the drawers, everything is left behind.  Cutlery Also, all the other   kitchen amenities are still there. All the pots right over here.  And look over here, they would do spices and  everything inside. Look how moldy that is.  It's actually couscous. My gosh.  Yeah, woodworm has definitely done  its job over here in this cabinet.  There is also definitely food rotting  because there are a lot of flies over   here inside. - Yeah, yeah. And then from the living room,   we continue our way to another part. And it's beautiful because it’s been   made with curtains and everything. - Yep, well, pan through it first   because it’s very beautiful. Look at that.  The lamp over there. It’s matching the color of the curtains.  Over here, this was definitely the liquor cabinet. Look what's written over here.  Der Botschafter der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. They were very patriotic about their country.  - Yeah. That's one thing for sure.  - They really loved their German relatives. They're German origin, their roots.  - A purse. What is this thing over here?  It's more interesting to me. Part of a clock, I think, right?  - Yeah. Grow old along with me.  The best is yet to be. - It’s from a clock.  I like this quote. Grow old along with me.  The best is yet to be. - Yeah.  Well, I honestly, think besides this beautiful  desk over here, we will go find something very   interesting. Over here’s a newspaper from 1990. - 1990.  Damn. Look over here, Mo.  Oh, we have again, a picture of the man. And look at that.  Alexis Bego. He was a captain,   died on the 24th of July,  1928, on his 104th anniversary.  Oh my gosh. What is written over here?  Well, this is a national  order of a medal of honor.  And it's for Alexis. And I think this   person over here in the frame is Alexis, the  great-grandfather who has fought during a war.  What war is it actually, 1928? - Yeah, it's 1925.  Maybe a civil war? - Civil War or the First World War?  Or the First World War. - Could be, could be, man.  I think it's the first world war. Wow look at this fireplace as well,   the stonework and everything. We have some Portuguese "vino tinto" over here.  - It’s beautiful, man. Yeah.  All the artwork inside this place and all the  items that are just left behind and no one seems   to be looking after them. - No absolutely not.  Well, what's inside there? - Well, I’m quite curious   because it says, Recht u geld. Over here it says, A.F. Radio’s Klinik.  - I think it’s all their artifacts. No those are X-rays.  It's from radiology. That’s why it’s saying radio’s clinic.  I should give the light to you actually. I think it's the spinal cord   that we see together with the pelvis. But the people cannot really see it right now.  Look at that. It's indeed the spinal cord with the pelvis.  I'm not sure if I can see where the  problem is actually coming from but,   no, not really. I believe over here  is the last room on this floor, right?  - Yeah, this is the last room on this floor. Oh by the way have you seen the clock over here?  It's actually also open. There are some things lying in it.  It's a typical French clock, right? - Yeah, it's true.  But just a wooden ceiling,  that's German, German-ish.  So, what's actually in this room? - Yeah, I was already   looking at it but, what is this? I think they're used to lay something inside,   some decoration or something. I don’t know. - An axe over here  A light A very big light and it's   pretty narrow over here so have a look, Mo. Oh, this is like a storage room, yeah,   a lot of books. Look at this.  We’ve got a camcorder, fresh in its package.  What is this device over here? - It's a TV player.  So, you could really just  plug things in over here.  So, like a portable TV or something? - Yeah, yeah.  Okay, a very little screen. - Well, they were happy with   anything back then, right? Yeah, I bet, I bet.  What's this, like a flag, right? - That’s German.  Oh, with the eagle indeed. It comes back everywhere.  - "Der Deutsche Adler", As you can tell, this,   everything’s written in German. "Pierre".  "Wagen". - "Versandhäuser".  "Michel". "Cora", "Leica".  It's also crazy to see how the nature  over there is just growing inside.  - Yeah, yeah, yeah, this place is  definitely being taken over by nature.  And well, some more German artifacts. Well, Mo, honestly, I think it’s just   storage over here, man. Yeah.  Then let's go to the next floor. - Yep, let's go upstairs to the last floor.  And then it's time to go to the  staircase and see where we can go.  I believe we cannot only go upstairs  but we can also go downstairs.  We have some stuff for cleaning over here. Some boots are still here.  Yeah, this is going to basement. - Well, let’s head down.  Flies are like everywhere. Oh, there’s an entire workshop over here.  Look at that. Wow, so many tools.  The person that lived here, the German family  definitely had a handyman in the family.  - Oh, yeah. They used to do everything by themselves.  All the crafty work and jobs Look how many tools there are.  All just completely rusty but  they were pretty organized.  Everything over there in those compartments. - It's quite narrow, actually.  Oh, look there is even still a washer over here. It looks very, like a factory washer or something.  - It's very old-fashioned. What’s this?  That's also for tools. Oh, is this like a vault?  - No, it's a stove, man. Sorry?  - It’s a stove. Or is it a vault?  No, it's a vault. - Damn.  It's safe. There are also   three buttons and a keyhole. - That's freaking crazy.  See those beds over here? For a game.  This even looks like a part of a furnace, right? - Yep, it does.  You can see that the ceiling is rotting,  moldy, and coming down. We haven't   checked the electricity but, that’s not running. - No.  A pretty large basement - Yeah, it is, right?  There are so many wooden parts like they  were working on something with wood. What   is written over here? Christoffe.  Maybe a name of a family or  a company that they owned.  - And well— These are all jars, like, to close up jars.  What the fuck, look. Oh, man.  Whoa, can you grab those out? Those are leg prosthesis.  - Yep. What the heck.  And there was another one too. - Well, there are four actually.  My gosh.  Look how moldy they are. That's crazy.  Good eye for detail. I hadn't even spotted them   between all those chairs. - So that means that   there’s like a legless man living here. I was like, Why is Remon cursing?  But yeah, that's a pretty shocking find. - Sorry.  Alright. I think there is only one room left in   the basement on the left side. Let's see. Yep, right over here.  Oh, they also have a little wine cellar  over there with some wines. - Alright,   well, I think over here also the pots  and the pans and the canned products.  Canned food should be here. And so many shoes as well.  - Yeah. A shoe basement.  Oh, look. Those are balls for a   game of Jeu de Boules, a French game. - It’s a typical French game.  Well, the wine over here came down. Yeah, it has fallen down from a plank, right?  - Yeah, yeah. This actually used to stand here in the air.  We also still have some food  products over there in the corner.  Just a typical basement like any other. - Yeah.  And pretty big - Nothing pretty   specific to point out, I need to say. Alright, let's head back upstairs cause   we still have one floor to go. That's the upstairs level.  Let's go. - Let's   head upstairs to the last floor. Well, at least we think it’s the last floor.  Wow. Damn, Mo.  You need to see it. Oh my gosh.  We haven't even seen this  floor yet and it's amazing.  Look at that. Wow.  - It's a crazy collection. All those books over here.  Wow. That's a very big collection, right?  And everything turns out to be  from, have been from German people.  They were doing horse  competitions as well, I believe.  Oh, a photo of the couple. Maybe the man or the woman   was German and the other person was  French and that's how they got there.  And look at this old letter. - Looks like, with the stamp on it.  Isn't there a year written on the top? No way.  - 1821. Damn.  This is a letter from 1821. - That's history, man.  That's honestly real history. Wow.  It's like a testament that they wrote down.  I already saw it and I thought:  this is something special.  And over here we have the  name again of the family.  "Binesteau". - Binesteau, okay alright, alright,   yeah, that's, that's German, French-ish. Yeah, more French.  More books inside here. They also loved listening to classical music,   apparently. - Yeah.  What else can we find? What are these paintings?  Looks like it's due to decay but  I think it's the original design.  Yeah, yeah, that's just a map  for something to put it inside.  Just more books over here. - I know this room, man.  Oh, wow. There are even more legs over there.  We already found the prosthesis in  the basement but there is way more   and look at this. It’s a bedroom. And there are so many details.  I think this was actually the room of a child. - Yeah, it looks like,   but do you think the child had no legs? No, but I think they just placed it here.  Who knows? Maybe a photographer or anybody.  Look at that. Old frames over here.  It’s so crazy, man. Binoculars.  - Broken Also, an ink blotter to erase the ink.  And the legs on the ground over here. - Yeah.  That's crazy. And what is this?  Wow. - Well, first pan out the frame right here.  Yeah, that's what I was doing. Over here are probably keys inside.  Look at that. Even a marriage picture over there.  - Yeah, right over here. But honestly, I was amazed   about this thing because I never saw  something like this. What is this?  I don't know. It also says something with   the Eiffel Tower over there? - Electrotherapy.  I think it's what it says. It does something with those   patches over here, probably. I don't know I think it was a   therapeutical device or something that they used. - It's very strange, man.  Very primitive. - Yeah.  Well, the jacket also. You can see that it’s destroyed.  Then inside of there they actually  have a sink and a lot of stuff for   grooming and also cleaning, it seems. - Yeah, it's just the typical bathroom.  Well of course only to wash  yourself and not a bathtub.  And also there, look. Yeah, there was definitely a disabled   person living in here. Yep.  That's one thing for sure. Somebody probably without   legs. - Yep.  It's a crazy fact, man. Damn.  And they are very old-fashioned too. - Yeah, they are.  You won't see them like that anymore nowadays. Nowadays you even have modern   blades and everything. Alright and then we continue.  So, let's make our way to this room and  it's another bedroom that's completely   frozen in time. Look at that. Everything is left behind.  The sunlight is beautifully  falling through the windows.  This little porcelain figurine over here and still  some perfume on the nightstand. - I think this was   a girl’s bedroom, don’t you think, so? Yeah, maybe, or from a woman.  - What’s this? I don't know.  It has to do something with air. - These are very old.  Maybe it would’ve pumped or something. - Yeah, yeah, yeah.  I think the air was inside this part  and then you could pump something.   Over here's something written in German. The memory from luck remains as beautiful as,   I don't know the last word, Gegenwart. - I don’t know either, I'm sorry.  Our German is good but not that good. And also look at the ceiling.  - Crazy, right? Everything’s made out of wood.  - Then the fake flowers over here. We have this little medallion over here.  Rosenheim is written on it. Maybe a family name or something, I don't know.  A little bathroom over here. - But the stuff's like all over   the place. Yeah.  - Unbelievable. At the same time,   everything is just eerily left behind. - Yeah.  This is actually a beautiful bed. Everything is embroidered on it.  - Also on top. Yeah.  - Look at the design. Of the headboard.  Some fake sunflowers over there as well. - It's pretty color-ish in here.  Well, yeah. I think that was a toy.  - Yeah. A sex toy  - Definitely, a woman’s room. That's not working anymore.  Here, Christian Dior. Crazy.  And then over here you had another door  and it used to be a walk-in closet.  - This is also handmade and embroidered. Yep, also embroidered art.  It's crazy to see that the room looks so  pristine but over there you can see black   mold just on the walls. - Coming through, man.  The black mold is winning the battle. Well, from nothing but black mold,   we’re continuing to the next room then. Okay so we’re continuing our way to another   bedroom but again— Again, we have leg   prostheses over here on the ground. Now I'm starting to think, were they really   from the people that lived here or did they maybe  manufacture those things given there are so many?  - I honestly don't know but there are so many. Maybe they had to change them every few   years or something. - Could be the case.  But why did they never get rid of  them and collect them in that way?  Over here we have a lot of films and movies,  and they were mostly about Second World   War in 1945. - Damn.  Over there it says, "Weihnacht". That means Christmas.  Probably Christmas movies or maybe even Christmas  memories from the family are still on there.  - Again, some black mold on top. You can tell.  And yeah, this was definitely the man's room. I think maybe even a master bedroom, we can say.  - Yeah. What's inside of here?  Nothing. - What is this?  What? It's a brick with a note on it.  A lot of clothes, still inside the wardrobe. - And again, legs, man, on the side.  There, just one, I think. Yeah.  Oh, yeah. Even more legs.  Why are there so many leg  prostheses inside this home?  It's fairly strange. - Yeah it is.  It is very strange, man. But it definitely tells something   about the person who lived here. So many clothes are also still   hanging up here. - The jackets  Everything’s left over here. Where does it lead to over here?  - Another bathroom Look yourself.  Oh, yeah, this is definitely the biggest one so I  think this was definitely the master bedroom where   we just came from. - Yeah.  It's a big property, actually. Everything is still standing here.  Everything that they used for washing. Currently, the bathtub is very dirty,   full of debris. - Wow.  I'm not gonna show that. - Yeah, definitely don’t.  So, what else can we show now? Is there anything,   is there anything else on this floor? - I don't know if there is another room.  Let's have a look. Oh, yeah.  Well, alright. Is there anything else around the corner?  - Yeah. Well, first of all, over   here's another, it's just some storage. It's nothing worth looking but it's   just some storage. And I think over here—  Also some storage? - Yeah, but we’ll have   to be careful with the light. We have enough light in here.  Yeah, this is just another storage room. Like dumped and dumped with   everything they once owned. There are still calendars over   here from 1968 and everything. And look at that.  A poster with dogs so they definitely love dogs. - What is that?  No clue. - It's a—  Oh, you could actually collect  those stickers with those French   chateaux and everything, yeah. - Maybe they once all visited them.  Don’t you think so? Yeah, maybe.  A puzzle over here - Damn, it’s unbelievable.  A data recorder? It’s just a simple record player, I think.  Well, over there on the  poster, you can see the Alps.  Or Austria, yeah. You can tell the way the man was dressed   on the right side is a typical German style. And  over here is a poster with a harmony performing.  - Well, I think overall it’s  just books and toys, honestly.  Yeah. Let's see if we, I believe we could   even go one more level up, right? - Yeah.  Over here is another bathroom. It's a pink one.  There are pretty many bathrooms in this place. - We already found three, right?  Yeah. This one is dirty.  It's full of dead flies and everything. - Yeah.  You can tell that this place is like, neglected. It's in a very bad state, honestly.  It's a—  A tripod? - No, no, no, like to, you know—  Oh, it's like a projector screen. - Yeah like a projector screen, exactly, exactly.  Alright. - So maybe the man was a teacher.  Who knows? Yeah, maybe.  We did find something downstairs  that the person actually reached an   age of 104 years old before passing away. - So maybe with these projector screens,   we saw movies of 1945. He has movies of, like,   his battle and he was the one that lost  his legs during war. Yeah, who knows?  - Who knows? A lot of different things are possible.  I'm really curious where those stairs over  there are leading to, and what we’re gonna find   there. Firstly, what’s this? You see?  This is from somebody else and I  believe somebody that fought in the war.  Died in 1949 at the age of 75 years old. It's the same plate as we found downstairs   from somebody else. - Yep, exactly.  So, people that lived here  were probably involved in war.  Where is this leading to? Can we even open it?  I believe it's closed but you can try it. - Nah, it's stuck.  It's freaking stuck. In that case, I think   we got to end the video right over here, man. We thought we could still enter this floor but,   apparently, there is no way. You can also not lift it up?  - Something is like pushing back. You see?  Strange. Well, then we explored this   other wonderful chateau in French lands. - Yeah, in its whole, I need to say,   it's a very cool place. Honestly, with all these legs.  I never found something like that. Yeah, I only found it one time but that   were only two, like one pair of legs but we found  like five to six to seven pairs of leg prosthesis,  It makes you wonder why they owned so many. - And I think I think, the thing to conclude   about this place is that the man definitely  lost his legs during war, both of his legs.  So many respect to him, honestly. Yeah absolutely.  - Due to him we are still  enjoying life in a normal way.  Not as the people back then. They had to fight for their lives.  A life of peace. - A life of peace, man.  And then to see your place just end neglected  after all those years of duty and war. Life is   unfair sometimes, honestly. Yeah, that's true.  But anyway, we were very thankful that we could  see and explore his mansion today. And yeah,   we hope you enjoyed it too. - Yeah, man.  And if you did, Remon will tell you what   the drill is. - You know it.  Like, subscribe, and comment right down below.
