uh ephesians chapter 6 verse 10 and 11. finally my brethren be strong in the lord and then the power of his might put on the whole arm of god that you might be able to stand against the wiles of the devil thank you so much help me be strong shout it again be strong the proper way of dealing with any texts that's in the word of god is that you must get familiar with several things the pensment of the text the purpose of the text the culture around the text it is really improper to begin a sermon in the middle of a conversation whenever you do that it is like passing a door and you hear a statement while passing and you draw a conclusion upon the statement what you would normally have to do is use your imagination because you don't have proper information but because of the time that is allotted to me tonight allow me to dive into this message in the middle of a conversation the verse began with the word finally you don't have to be rocket scientist to know that if you hear the word finally that that's not the beginning of a statement finally sound like a church word that we sit and we sit through worship service praise and worship and sit through the prayers devotional service the announcement the offering and the sermon we wait with anticipation to hear the man of god say finally i thought this is what paul had in mind when he placed this word in the text because of the geographical location of the text but the word finally in the greek is the word louie palm the word loipon means that it is not that that it is not over but he saved the best for less i had some problems with that because of what paul had already covered in ephesians because he started ephesians chapter one dealing with this matter of election election has baffled the mind of scholars for years it's hard for them to explain election when it comes to salvation but this is how it work it is like you're approaching the door and above that door the writing say whosoever will let him come as i approach the door it looked like it is my choice it looked like it is my decision to come to jesus but once i get through the door and look at the door from the other side except for whom he did for no then he also did predestinate [Music] to be conformed to the image of his son on this side it looked like it's my choice but when i get through and look at it from the other side i discovered it was a setup because ephesians chapter 1 verse 4 it's according to whom he has chosen the word chosen is in our tenth he admit that god acted alone without a supreme court without a board of directors it was his choice but it's not on an arrow tenth but in middle voice which means he acted by himself but for himself which means you was chosen by god but chosen for god but then you don't have to leave ephesians 4 and 1 to tell when the election took place he said it was before the foundation of the world that mean before my daddy knew my mama god had already chose me it's difficult for us to comprehend that because in human personality we have to cut time up in the segments to keep up with time yesterday today tomorrow one's eels and shelby but yesterday is in the tomb tomorrow is in the womb yesterday is a cancelled check tomorrow is a promise every note yesterday is history tomorrow is mystery yesterday is recollection tomorrow is speculation which means with god everything is in eternal now with god yesterday is now with god today is now with god tomorrow is now you see god never have to leave anywhere to get anywhere he is already where he's going and still where he was he can tiptoe and stand flat at the same time he can take a crooked stick and hit a straight leg talk to me somebody and so he deal with this matter of election but then in ephesians 1 and 5 he deal with this matter of predestination peruzio in the greek it mean he mocks off a boundary you think where you stand is an accident but god marked it off that's why when you get to a certain place you can't move when you want to because god has assigned you to talk to me somebody to be in a certain place at a certain time thank god he make the decision but not only deal with election and and pre-predestination he deal with this matter of adoption adoption run parallel to regeneration when i'm born again i have my father's nature when i'm adopted i have his name a man can can have a son prior to his marriage but the son looked like him he has his nature but don't have his name and then he marries someone else and this time he raised another family and sometimes this new family don't want to have nothing to do with this this outside boy talk to me somebody there and and the man can be a billionaire and die and the boy will never get a quarter but if he adopts the son regardless of what the rest of the family said part of the inheritance is yes god does something like that with us that he saves us and give us his nature he turned around and adopts us and give us his name so now i can say i'm an heir of god and a journey there with jesus christ not only does it deal with adoption he deal with this matter of being sealed because ephesians 1 13 said we're sealed with the holy spirit of promise now seal means security too many saved folks think that i i used to be saved and i'm lost no no you used to go to church and you don't go to church no more but ephesians chapter 1 deal with the privilege of the believer ephesians chapter 2 deal with the pardon of the believer ephesians chapter 3 deal with the purity of the believer ephesians chapter 4 deal with the practice of the believer ephesians chapter 5 deal with the power of the believer ephesians chapter 6 dealing with the persistence of the believer and yet he says finally but then they say my brother the greek word for brethren is the word artifacts in the greek it means from the same womb it's quiet as is kept we're all related through the spiritual womb you see there are only five births in the bible that's what you call the soil birth the the surgical birth the sac birth the savior's birth and saint's birth genesis 2 74 man from the dust of the ground that's the soil birth after god be strong the word for be strong and the greek is in deuteronomia it's a compound with any time you see the e in any word it means that god want to live underneath the skin in other words you want to live on the inside of you that's why he tell us what to do with every member of our bodies when my eyes i'll take psalms 121 verse 1 and lift them toward the heels from which cometh my help my help says ye shall receive power same word dunamis explosive power ephesians 6 and 10 final brother be strong in the lord and the power the great word is kratos that's demonstrative power he want us to understand that he has deposited power now the word strong is in the imperative mood which means it is a command he's not just recommending that i be strong he's not just suggesting that it be strong he's commanded me to be strong in other words it's not optional it's standard equipment but it's not only in parent to move it's in present tense which means continuing in action that i don't hear a ephesian church here's a problem because you see the church had a lot of history behind it the ephesian church according to acts chapter 19 verses 1 through 20 was founded by the apostle paul it was later pastored by his young son timothy it had some famous people as being members of the church peter ministered that apollos was one of the converts priscilla aquila did evangelistic work there and john that penned the gospel of john first second third epistle of john and the book of revelation was a charter member and when jesus died at camera he willed his mother to john and wherever john went to church the mother of jesus [Music] was a member of that too can you imagine being a member of a church that's founded by the apostle paul and timothy pastor there and apollo the greatest preacher ever preached preached there priscilla aquila did evangelistic work there and the man that wrote the book of revelation was the superintendent of sunday school [Applause] and the president of the mother minister was jesus his own mother [Music] and whenever you got that kind of notoriety sometimes you get a little beside yourself and kind of stick your chest out a little bit because i'm a member of the ephesians church i asked the lord i said are there some problems with the church he said they are he said in ephesians chapter 4 verse 25 said they're doing entirely too much lying [Applause] he said in ephesians chapter 4 verse 26 said again angry and staying mad too long peace in ephesians chapter 4 verse 27 so they're giving place to the devil he said they're lying in 25 getting angry in 26 giving place to the devil in 27 so they'll start stealing in verse 28. [Applause] so the lion in 25 again anger in 26 giving place to the devil in 27 stealing in 28 said going to kirsten in verse 29. he said in line in 25 getting angry in 26 giving place to the devil in 27 stealing in 28 kirsten and 29 grieving the spirit in verse 30. he said in line in 25. getting angry in 26. talk to me somebody giving place to the devil in 27 stealing in 28 kirsten in 29 grieving you go to the doctor doctor says you got six months to live and you leave in five years you say i understand that no doctor is that smart to know exactly how long you got to live when i understand that reverend doctor told me my mama wasn't gonna live she she lived five months she was gone i can tell you why you can live you can live weeks without food bees without water but only minutes
