hi friends tina did it here and welcome back to my channel as i promised i have an outdoor lighting diy for you using all dollar tree items i'm actually pretty excited about this one because you can use this two ways you can either hang it or you can place it on the ground outside and i have a solar light in there so you don't even need batteries for this if you want to see how i made this one just keep on watching just a quick story time a few months ago i uploaded this tabletop lamp i made this using all dollar tree items if you haven't checked out that video definitely check it out this turned out super cool so i wanted to make an outdoor one using the same idea so i took four five by seven frames these ones i picked up from dollar tree but you can pick up any frames you'd like any size depending on how big you want your um your lamp to be so now i'm going to basically just open it up take everything out including the glass and just set those aside we're not going to use them for this project but i'm going to save them for another diy now i'm just going to close those um clamps and using scissors or your hands they come right off the reason why i close them back down that lowers the risk of breaking the frame because the dollar tree frames are a little bit fragile so i like to just push the clamps back down and then just pull it out with my hand or like i said pliers or scissors [Music] now i'm doing the same thing for all four frames and then i'm going to take this bath mat from dollar tree again everything in this video is from dollar tree and basically i'm going to just measure the frame and cut out the part to fill in the frame so i'm just going to cut this piece out and then i'll measure and cut accordingly the goal here is to have the dip right there facing outwards so you're going to flip it over and make sure that the dip is facing out because that's where we're going to put our gems later on before i forget to mention if you like videos that are straight on point and cute and simple projects like this one and definitely affordable make sure to subscribe and hit the bell button so you're notified every time i upload a video and if you're new here welcome welcome it's so great to have you here now don't forget to subscribe and hit that bell support my channel i greatly appreciate it [Applause] [Music] and now just going in with my glue gun i'm going to glue the bath mat in place and remember dip facing out now i'm going to do this to all my four frames and i'll be right back [Music] now that i'm done with my frames it's time to add our gems i'm going to go in with e6000 because i've tried an other lamp i tried hot glue and it doesn't dry clear so i decided to go in with e6000 because that of course dries out clear but it does take a while to dry so be sure to place in all your gems and then leave the frames for a while to completely dry and seal once they're dry it's time to put it together forming a box so i'm just going to flip one frame over apply e6000 on it and then i'll have the other two frames standing on the side and then i'll place the top one and i'm only using e6000 for this step because i don't want the frames falling apart [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so here is an idea of how to keep the frame standing so they don't tilt back or anything i just used um a few paint bottles on the side so that way they can stand in place and here i'm just applying um e6000 and placing my last frame up on top [Music] after placing my last frame remember e6000 does take a while to completely seal so be sure to leave this for a few hours before moving on to the next step [Music] now to make the top part i'm going to take this splatter screen that's what's going to hold my solar light up so i'm going to take the splatter screen and i'm going to measure around and cut accordingly so here i'm just cutting the screen making sure that it fits perfectly on top of the box and before gluing down the screen to the box i'm going to take my solar light and i'm going to take the part that has the lamp so i'm taking that black part on the bottom completely off we're setting it aside and then i'm going to make a cut out a circle in this middle of the screen so i can slide my solar light through the lamp is on top so if you'd like to put only the black part you can go ahead and do so but i just kept my solar light the way it was so that way it glows more if that makes sense now i'm just going to slide this through and then it's time to glue the screen on top of the box and i'm going to do that using my hot glue gun [Music] so [Music] [Music] now if you're going to place this on the ground outside you can definitely skip this step but if you'd like to hang it here's what i used to hang it i use this chain you can buy it from like the garden section they come with these baskets or they come individually wrapped i guess but if you don't find them um on their own you can definitely pick up the basket and just take the chain off of it and here i'm just pushing it against the frame and clipping it upwards so that way it'll be hanging onto the hook but if you're going to have this lantern on the ground you can definitely skip this step [Music] [Applause] [Music] and that's it that was so easy here is the finished product you guys and this is how it look in the morning time and at night time this is how it would look and i'm pretty pleased with this it turned out really cute but what i think i'm going to do with it is i'm going to place it on the ground i have two steps in front of my front door so i'll be placing one on each step but i definitely love how it turned out let me know if you would do anything different what would you do would you spray paint the the frames or what would you do differently but let me know down in the comments what you think of this project it was super easy to make but don't forget to stop by the comment section and let me know what you think i'd love to hear from you and if you like this video be sure to give it a big thumbs up and subscribe for more fun diys and make sure to share with your friends thank you all for watching stay safe and i'll see you all next time [Music] bye
