[Music] hi guys I hope you're having a great week I thought it would be fun to put together a video using an inexpensive solar light I picked this one up at Dollar Tree in fact most of the items I will be using in this video are from Dollar Tree as well and come up with different ideas or uses for the light instead of just the traditional in the ground solar light so that is what I'm doing in this video I have a tall option a layered option some table top ideas including a hanging Lantern type of idea so that's what I'm working on in this video let's get to it [Music] [Music] for my first tabletop idea I'm using a glass candlestick holder and so that my light will fit more securely into the base I'm using a rubber band and just wrapping it around the bottom of the solar light so it will fit more snugly into the holder and you can still see the rubber band through the glass so I could have used hot glue to avoid that but it didn't bother me and I think this is a fun one [Music] and here is how it looks at night here my next idea I'm hearing how I made a call solar light I have done this for years basically you just take a dowel rod that fits into the bottom of your solar light and you paint it the same color as the solar light so in this case it's silver so I painted the dowel rod silver and there you go and obviously the dowel rod is not going to be long-lasting when placed into the ground so there are probably some other options that may be like PVC pipe if you can find the correct size that would last much longer but I don't mind using the dowel rods as they are inexpensive and easy to find and then you can see here I also did them in black near my patio and I've also done kind of a layered look by cutting the dowel rods to different links so that they have varying heights inside a flower pot and I think that's a fun unique look for the next tabletop idea I just took a small glass globe that I purchased at Dollar Tree and I'm simply going to hot glue the light into the bottom of the globe and turn it upside down and if the hot glue doesn't hold up to the heat outdoors I could easily use something like e6000 for it to be more permanent but I just wasn't too concerned about that right now so I chose to go ahead and use hot glue and needless to say but I thought I'd go ahead and throw it in here a lot of the ideas I'm hearing I did use glass and they are breakable so if you have a small children or pets that may knock things off cables or want to play with things that's something just to keep it in mind this is probably one of my favorite finds at Dollar Tree thus far is this textured jar I simply removed the lid and put the top of the solar light into the jar it fit perfectly in fact later I took off part of the solar light and just use the lid portion and it worked out perfectly and wait till you see it in the dark it is beautiful [Music] the next one I'm using this glass star that I found and just hot gluing the top of the solar light in place and then I will turn it over and I thought this would be a really fun one for the fourth of July [Music] so I decided to try to make a hanging Lantern out of one of the textured jars as well so I'm just using some water and I will make a loop at the end of the wire with some round nose pliers and then I will wrap that around the top of the jar creating another loop halfway across the top of the jar and then I will feed the wire through the first loop and then back through the second loop I hope I'm explaining this correctly but you can see it in the video and so that is how I did this to attach a hanger to my jar [Music] [Music] and I certainly didn't need to use this heavy of a gauge of wire for my hanger but that's what we had on hand so that's what I went with [Applause] [Music] [Music] I think this hanging Lantern turned out so cute and I really need to pick up some more of these jars [Music] [Music] [Music] another quick idea for a tabletop kind of centerpiece is to put it inside a planter with some flowers or even a flowerpot turned upside down if you're new to my channel I share a lot of budget-friendly DIY home and lifestyle content and if you like that sort of thing I would love it if you hit subscribe and hung around I hope you enjoyed this video and if you did please give it a thumbs up a like or comment to let me know and thanks for watching you
