morning all supposed to be nice today i think zero degrees in snow is nice then fair enough right who wants to install some cylinder heads and a hemi 5.7 not me [Music] right here we are my home away from home so these gaskets do not have markings on them to see if they're left right up or down as long as i get the left and right the right way round they can only go one way so this one is lb which is left nope let's sit in the top of the lb box so that one is rb so right i'm guessing bear in mind it's not left and right as you look at it's left and right on the engine so you basically if you're sitting in the driver's seat whatever's left and right so right would be this one over here and that will need to go this way whip it into its big devils make sure everything lines up all the holes looks good throw the other one on okay all right i'll put that there for now climb inside then i'll put it on the card in the middle and then hype myself up because i want to lift this straight on without scraping stuff all right lift it over this pipe yes i know that would be much easier without this pipe in the way but it's uh ac pipe that i don't want to empty i'm feeling really weak today okay step two yes okay okay i'm gonna cook gonna put one big bolt in snug snugly for now just so if it doesn't fall off okay i will be taking that one back out again to put a wee bit of oil around it and all the rest all right let's go and grab the other head okay move this over to its cardboard temporary home psych myself up to move on to its permanent home lift it gotcha so that's under just needed a little tap down with a rubber mallet just to get on it's down right i've got my tails got my big torque wrench and there's all sorts of stuff online about torque settings but basically it is you do them in sequence and maybe throw a secret i'll throw the sheet the sequence sheet up here just so you know what i'm talking about and that's the sequence that you you tighten them in so the first torque setting will be 25 pounds hold on it's windy again 25 pounds then do them all again at 40 pounds and then do them all again with a 90 degree turn quarter turn so i'll just fire on get that done [Music] [Music] hey [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] great both heads are torqued down so i've got a couple of earth straps you see that we finger one on each head at the back i'll do them now all right those little earth straps are on time to install my rockers it's getting cold so i'm just going to do stuff and then give you an update okay rockers installed and shafts installed they would be a bit fiddly actually because you've kind of got to you're pushing down some of the springs as you're tightening just because of where the cam lobes are anyway next will be the valve covers oh yes my valve covers on i forgot how 9 there were 10 8 mil bolts really awkward at the back they're all in um so the next stage is going to be either doing the intake stuff for doing the timing a chain cover on the water pump yeah i think i'll do the time machine cover next but not tonight um frozen holding tiny bits of frozen metal all day so i'll be back in the morning hang in there it's a new day it's still freezing but uh at least it's not snowing for now so i nipped out to canadian tire because i was going to need my oil two of them because you know hey me i got some coolant concentrate i don't like the pre-mixed up stuff i think it's a bit of a con i got a decent oil filter and a couple of spark plugs because do you remember when i said i had scraped the inside of one of the cylinder heads well i scraped it with this as you can see spark plug is wrecked so i've got a couple of spark plugs right hey let's go and see what's next i think i want to get my timing chain cover on before i put on my intake just gives me a bit more light so get that on and then possibly the intake and all the spark plugs and then water pump and then oh goodness the list goes on right one thing at a time what a pump next [Music] [Applause] [Music] water bump is on looking very shiny right next i'm going to put in my cam position sensor got a new one remember which was the first thing i got because i thought that's all it needed oh boy was i wrong so i'll fit that now while it's easy to get access to i'll also install all my spark plugs and what else there's something else i was going to do thermostat housing remember the one i painted that came up quite nice it's had like five days to dry so it should be good and i might put on my ac pump as well and then i can start on the top [Music] end [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] all right all the spark plugs are in what a pain honestly it's it's difficult even when half your engine isn't in so when just a regular spark plug change is an absolute nightmare anyway let's put all my coil packs in well i'll get better access and i think i'll get the intake on yeah [Music] um [Music] [Music] it takes on fuel rail is next no that's not what i was doing was it so confused anyway [Music] yeah coffee break that's the injectors in now um if you've not done injectors before they don't seem to be held in very strongly they do have little o-rings and they do kind of you push them down you push the injector down it does kind of pop in so don't just lay it on top and screw in the the two holders it does need to pop and then you screw it in right a few rails back on obviously and the connecting pipe is back on have a coffee and then decide what i'm doing next probably probably the ac because this is now getting pulled up or because this is now resting the timing cover is pulling the pump up and i don't like stress on it so i'll get the pump on and then i'll start plumbing in well actually you know what the wiring's pretty much done i've just got some water pipes to do and uh this bracket here i've forgotten where that goes i mean it goes there but i forgot what it's for anyway coffee and then we'll get back to it ac first [Music] no no no ac is on uh i'm gonna go and check my videos because i don't want to get the order over the next stuff wrong for example i've got this bracket that goes on and one of the plugs is for the airflow sensor one of the plugs is for the coolant sensor but i need to make sure that put this on in the right order in case there's like another you know what i'm going to lay out all the parts that's a good idea i'll lay out the parts go and check my videos so i'm running out of engine parts which is good because it means that they're on the truck instead of lying about so really just alternator obviously i need to get my harmonic balancer on i'll do that first i'm not going to be able to torque it up until i've got all the other belts on because there'll be no resistance except for a bit of pressure in the cylinders but probably not enough to torque it so i'll get the power steering pump back on i'll get that back on i've worked out where it goes still haven't figured out what that's for might just be on earth for the alternator but we'll find out soon and all the wiring a bit of plumbing here and there now we're there guys nearly there [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] all right let's see if i can remember how this goes on see how good my memory is i'll give you i'll give you a head it's not very good now the one thing i do remember the belt goes on the inside of that one so let's do that first and then everything else will be straight forward so that has to go around there and that has to go around there do this every time i don't want to resort to the the previous video let's work this out so annoying i need to resort to the video okay this time so it doesn't go around there it goes right there and then around there and then around there and then the bottom so i need to release the tension and we are again this one here looks a wee bit off for some reason you know what i'm going to rotate the engine a bit and just see if that evens out okay that's the belt on so i'll see if i can talk it up now if i can figure out what the torque set was crank pulley harmonic balancer turned up so next will be my new radiator install [Music] [Music] [Music] so you may have noticed i didn't install the mechanical fan it's not completely necessary it helps keep it a bit killer by like five degrees but we're heading into minus oh my god so i'll see how it runs over winter uh it's easy enough to install but i just want this thing running soon as possible so what's what's left um obviously the the uh the that thing and take thing to the air box this gets hooked into the air box i've got a plug here that gets hooked into the mat i guess and i've got the exhaust to hook up underneath so let me fire on oh tell you what i'll put the oil in and the water in just now and then uh i'll know if it's leaking immediately before i even start it so hold on with that and i was just looking at this pipe because i don't know where that is i've got a feeling i've put this in the wrong place that's the sort of thing i would do right doesn't want to come off now yeah that's not even a pipe that i've plugged into so that goes in there okay oil water exhaust all right the exhaust is hooked up however i do have a it is going to leak a bit because the center joint onto the main pipe is a bit loose i don't have a u-clamp big enough so it will fart a wee bit but i think everything else is good to go pick up the battery across your fingers story of my life okay i'll be back in a sec i'm going to chill i'm going to get a coffee before i try to start just in case there's anything i've forgotten and i'll see you tomorrow bye i'm just kidding i will not do that to you right i've been putting this off long enough and i need to just i just need to do it i'm going to turn the key a few times just to prime the fuel i'm not too bothered about the the oil because i didn't disturb any bearings in the you know and the main engine part and i put lots of oil in the top and the rockers so it should be good i'll do like three primes and then we'll go for it oh my goodness wish me luck [Laughter] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] i'm not happy yet and it is running but a bit noisy me a minute [Applause] all right my wee bit happier i'll let it run for 10-15 minutes and the ticking has gone thank goodness i think it was just the the roller lifters were maybe a bit empty and it needed some time to get the oil through problem happened at the moment is there's no hot air blowing through inside and i don't know why yet maybe i need to i need to look up and see how i sort of bleed the coolant system but i'll let you hear it now sounds normal i don't know why the fans coming on immediately though that's weird okay so let me switch it off [Music] let's go in the garage it's cold out here well that was easy okay it's all good and i did find out why my electric fan was running there is one broken wire uh going into the coolant sensor just one week daily wire so either need to try and patch that up or find a new pigtail i think you call it but i've been starting it and letting the cool and starting it and it's it's super smooth now i'm not driving it yet that'll be tomorrow but oh it's not smoking it's not leaking i'm happy i'm also very tired and very cold but um i think it worked and uh i've got you guys to thank for that because you know i wouldn't have taken those heads off if you hadn't pestered me just as well it did eh but i think i think we're good so tomorrow i will put the grill back on um i think that's all just to grow and then i'll fix that wire even if i can fix it temporarily just to get that code off because it's it's not doing the auto start because the coolant code is coming on and then i'll order up a new part and we'll be good and we can get back to boxy finally okay guys seriously thank you all for your help and advice couldn't i done without you or wouldn't have done it without you all right folks thanks for watching and uh apart from tomorrow's quick video hopefully that ends the whole hemi chapter of this channel and we'll get back to hot rod right stay safe everyone i'll see bye [Music] you
