Dec 11th - 3 Days of Prayers (Dec 9 - 11) — Chaplet, Adoration, and Rosary

[Music] so [Music] oh [Music] is [Music] no [Music] is [Music] in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen welcome to the hour of great mercy at the national shrine of the himach of the divine mercy in her revelations saint faustina was asked for special prayer and meditation on the lord's passion each afternoon at the three o'clock hour the hour that recalls his death on the cross and we know that that hour was precisely the time of the sacrifice of the evening lamb for the people of god in the temple and so it is at this hour the lord says implore my mercy especially for sinners and if only for a brief moment immerse yourselves in my passion particularly in my abandonment at the moment of agony this is the hour of great mercy in this hour i will refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of me in virtue of my passion as often as you hear the clock strike the third hour immerse yourself completely in my mercy adoring and glorifying it invoke its omnipotence for the whole world and particularly for poor sinners for at that moment mercy was open wide for every soul in this hour you can obtain everything for yourself and for others for the asking it was the hour of grace for the whole world mercy triumphed over justice and then the lord gave her these instructions try your best to make the stations of the cross in this hour provided that your duties permitted and if you are not able to make the stations of the cross then at least step into the chapel for a moment and adore in the most blessed sacrament my heart which is full of mercy and should you be unable to step into the chapel immerse yourself in prayer there where you happen to be if only for a very brief instant from these detailed instructions it's clear that our lord wants us to turn our attention to his passion at the three o'clock hour to whatever degree our duties allow and he wants us to ask for his mercy in the first book of the bible genesis we read about abraham begging god god to reduce the conditions necessary for him to be merciful to the people of sodom and gomorrah but here in his revelations of saint faustina christ himself offers a reduction of conditions because of the varied demands of our life's duties and he begs us to ask even in the smallest way for his mercy so that he will be able to pour his mercy out upon all of us we may not be able to make the stations of the cross or adore him in the blessed sacrament as sister faustina was able since every convent had a chapel but we can all mentally pause for a brief moment think of his total abandonment at the hour of agony and say a short prayer such as jesus mercy or jesus for the sake of your sorrowful passion have mercy on us and on the whole world here at the national shrine of the divine mercy we have been praying the continuous novena to jesus the divine mercy since the year 1945 offering our prayers for the intentions of other marian helpers and for the church and for the world and today we are on the third day of the continuous novena and our lord asks us today bring to me all devout and faithful souls and immersed them in the ocean of my mercy these souls brought me consolation on the way of the cross they were that drop of consolation in the midst of an ocean of bitterness and so we pray most merciful jesus from the treasury of your mercy you impart your graces in great abundance to each and all receive us into the abode of your most compassionate heart and never let us escape from it we beg this grace of you by that most wondrous love for the heavenly father with which your heart burns so fiercely eternal father turn your merciful gaze upon faithful souls as upon the inheritance of your son for the sake of his sorrowful passion grant them your blessing and surround them with your constant protection thus may they never fail in love or lose the treasure of the holy faith but rather with all the hosts of angels and saints may they glorify your boundless mercy for endless ages amen and today we continue the current novena to the holy spirit our intention is for justice it is the sixth day of the current novena we pray for the gift of counsel and we pray for justice in our nation and the church come holy spirit fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love send forth your spirit and they shall be created and you will renew the face of the earth the gift of counsel applies our knowledge and understanding to the many concrete situations of everyday life council elevates the virtue of prudence so that we will choose the wisest course of action in a given situation especially when we are perplexed as to the right choice to be made counsel endows us with a desire to act always in a way that promotes our sanctification and salvation in accordance with god's holy will we pray that the holy spirit will richly indole us with the ability to judge rightly the situations that challenge our faith so that we may not waver along the path to holiness let us pray father send the spirit of counsel upon us for the accomplishment of your holy will in our lives in the church and in the world incline our hearts to your will our minds to right judgment and our actions to what is good so that living by the holy spirit we may truly be salt and light for others we ask this through christ our lord amen mary mother of good counsel let us continue with saint faustina's prayer for sinners in answer to our lord's request o jesus eternal truth our life i call upon you and i beg your mercy for poor sinners o sweetest heart of my lord full of pity and unfathomable mercy i plead with you for poor sinners o most sacred heart fount of mercy from which god's fourth rays of inconceivable graces upon the entire human race i beg of you light for poor sinners o jesus be mindful of your own bitter passion and do not permit the loss of souls redeemed as so dear a price of your most precious blood o jesus when i consider the great price of your blood i rejoice at its immensity for one drop alone would have been enough for the salvation of all sinners although sin is an abyss of wickedness and in gratitude the price paid for us can never be equaled therefore let every soul trust in your passion o lord and place its hope in your mercy you will not deny your mercy to anyone heaven and earth may change but your mercy will never be exhausted oh what immense joy burns in my heart when i contemplate your incomprehensible goodness o jesus i desire to bring all sinners to your feet that we may glorify your mercy throughout endless ages amen the chaplain of the divine mercy in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen you expired jesus with the source of life gushed forthful souls and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world o fount of life unfathomable divine mercy envelope the whole world and empty yourself out upon us o blood and water which gushed forth from the heart of jesus as the fount of mercy for us i trust in you o blood and water which gushed forth from the heart of jesus as a fount of mercy for us i trust in you o blood and water which [Music] eternal god and his mercy is endless and the voices of compassion in this house look kindly upon us and increase your mercy in us that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent but with great confidence submit ourselves to your holy will which is love and mercy itself amen a prayer for divine mercy o greatly merciful god infinite goodness today all mankind calls out from the abyss of its misery to your mercy to your compassion oh god and it is with his mighty voice of misery that it cries out gracious god do not reject the prayer of this earth's exiles oh lord goodness beyond our understanding who are acquainted with our misery through and through and know that by our own power we cannot ascend to you we implore you anticipate us with your grace and keep on increasing your mercy in us that we may faithfully do your holy will all through our life and at that sour let the omnipotence of your mercy shield us from the doubts of our salvation's enemies that we may with confidence as your children await your son's final coming that day known to you alone and we expect to obtain everything promised us by jesus in spite of all our wretchedness for jesus is our hope through his merciful heart as through an open gate we pass through to heaven amen in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen so now we continue to pray for the united states of america and the world begging god's mercy upon us through the intercession of mary immaculate our lady of guadalupe patroness of the americas and patroness of life we pray in a special way in reparation for all the sins committed against life and the most innocent especially those little children who were killed through abortion in our land may god have mercy on us and on the whole world may god heal us and grant us the grace of conversion and repentance may god heal all those who are involved in this in any way and allow them to experience his infinite love mercy and forgiveness jesus you promised that the greater the sinner the greater his right to your mercy and even though our sins be as red as scarlet you would make them whiter than snow jesus we claim our right to your mercy and we beg your forgiveness please cover us in your precious blood and deliver us from all evil make us whiter than snow jesus we trust in you jesus we trust that you can make all things new and we thank you glory be to the father and to the son and to the holy spirit as it was in the beginning is now and will be forever amen we should call to mind the reason for the existence of the shrine of jesus who is the divine mercy in the flesh he is the one who through saint faustina is asking his church in the world to bring to mind the fact that he is mercy and love itself and that comes to us from the god the father who is life itself and the foremost characteristic of life love and mercy is to produce itself to keep on growing and the more it is given the more there is of it and the lord has united these aspects of devotion to him as the divine mercy by commanding an image of himself to be painted according to the vision that he accorded saint faustina on the 22nd of february 1931. it took several years for the image to finally be painted at the care of sister faustina's spiritual mentor father now blessed michael sapocha he found the artist who was willing to listen to her and her explanations and to attempt to reproduce it on canvas it took from january 1934 to sometime at the month of june of the same year for the image to be completed sister faustina would come at least once a week in all that time and sometimes several times a week to the artist to keep on instructing in the way that he was proceeding but each time she came she was displeased with the countenance of the lord and she insisted that it be changed we count that in all that time from january to june this must have happened at least 10 times if not more and we know from sister faustino's confessor that the artist wanted to quit but the good priest encouraged him to have patience with the sister and to continue and he did and when finally at some time in june when sister came to see the completed image as we know from a homily a con conference that father supports was allowed by his archbishop to give when the war broke out in poland after september 1st 1939 a war that sister faustina let the people know was coming practically no one wanted to believe that it would but here not even a whole year passed from sister faustino's passing into eternal life when the war broke out and precisely in poland and seeing this the archbishop gave father supports permission to tell the people of the origin of the image and of the revelations and the devotions and with the command to paint the image of jesus the divine mercy was the order to sign it with the words jesus i trust in you actually as we read in sister faustina's diary he wanted the full formula of a prayer that he taught sister faustina to be connected with the image but the father confessor thought that it was too long and didn't know exactly how to place it on the image and asked jesus for the instructions of what to do and he answered that he would want that full form but that these words would suffice jesus i trust in you and here we see where that special prayer that our lord taught sister faustina and the feast of his divine mercy that he demanded to be celebrated by the church solemnly on the first sunday after easter which is the octave day of the feast of the resurrection of our lord and with the chaplet of the divine mercy to which he gave such tremendous promises and the connection is this the full formula that the lord wanted connected with the image was o blood and water which gust forth from the heart of jesus is a fount of mercy for us i trust in you we do not realize in translation that the lord taught the prayer to sister faustina in the polish language and although he addressed o blood and water the verb which gushed forth is in the plural in the verb conjugated in the polish language as verbs are also conjugated in the latin language and the people did not realize that when he demanded worship of his divine mercy he did not demand worship for an image but for himself and the problem that the theologians and liturgists opposed instituting a feast of divine mercy because there are no feasts in the church of the individual attributes of god but only of persons and divine mysteries but they didn't realize that in the latin language and the polish language there is no definite article and therefore they missed the point the whole new testament comes to us only in the greek language and there we do find a definite article for example if we read the words holy spirit if there is no definite article before those words it refers to a power a force an inspiration but when there is a definite article the words become personified and they stand for the person whom those words represent and why oh blood and water because that is the symbol that jesus really died for us in his human nature that's why he was incarnate in order to be able in our nature to wipe out the price of sin saint paul tells us the wages of sin the payment for sin is death eternal death separation from god and it is by jesus and his divine person but in his human nature by undergoing an unjustified death because he was absolutely pure that he was able to erase the debt that our sin encountered and that is why by addressing himself as blood and water that gushed forth from the heart of jesus the lord is expressing his greatest act of love offering his human life in our place that we deserved for the sins of the world and therefore when we pronounce those words of blood and water we speak of that act of supreme love that was our salvation our restoration to union with god and the acceptance of all the fulfillment that god intended for us when he created us so that in the end we may share in his own divine nature which is eternal life and complete bliss and so that blood and water is substituted in the simplest form in the name jesus when our the angel announced to our lady that she was to become the mother of the son of god he told him she's to name him yeshua and yeshua means god is salvation and this is what the lord was to accomplish in our place and for us and so when we say jesus i trust in you we say jesus by your greatest act of love for us that you are by who you are and what you did for us we trust in you we have reason to trust because you took upon yourself all the punishment for all the deepest rebellion against god and you even suffered one of the lowest things that a human person can endure and that is being put to death for wrongdoing but here jesus was absolutely sinless and yet took on that punishment in his human nature and he paid for all the debt for all time and so we are all forgiven but we have to acknowledge it and appropriate what he did for us and we do so by these prayers for the sake of his sorrowful passion have mercy on us and on the whole world and this is the way what jesus merited for us eternal life restored union with the father and the holy spirit and all the fullness of the rewards of a christian life he already obtained that for us it's there waiting for us and that is where our hope is hope is not wishful thinking it's not something maybe it's there but we need to recognize it and appropriate it by saying so and so when we pray for the sake of his sorrowful passion have mercy on us and on the whole world we connect up with what jesus did for us and bring it to whatever need we have the theologian who was assigned to examine all of sister faustina's writings to see the whether they conformed with holy scripture with the faith and the tradition and morals of christianity said that he believes that prayer of blood and water was for faustina alone but there is another mystical nun in poland contemporary of sister faustina and we are finding out about it now because her process for beatification was begun in her country where the lord instructed her in the message and devotion to his divine mercy even more before she even met father sopotsko who became her mentor also eventually and when we learned from father soportico of the protection that jesus offered to those who would venerate his sacred image and give it deep religious veneration that he would protect those places those families and individuals who would express their veneration for him in that great role of his as the divine mercy in the flesh and there's no place of that in the diary but we learned that sister faustina used to give messages to father sapochka before he commanded her to keep a diary of all his encounter her encounters with jesus and that one's one among them but this is exactly what he taught the other mystic also sister helen mayevska of the congregation of sisters of the angels a candestine order founded when pauline wonder was under suppression by russia for such a long time and these artists were founded clandestinely through the works of a taffession confessor who when people came to him announcing they had a vocation but didn't know what to do with it because no religious order was allowed to accept candidates for the russian government intended all the religious orders to disappear he founded these communities and directed the people where he felt they were indicated by their vocation and he told sister helen you are going to complete the work of sister faustina and he gave that same promise to the protection of his sacred image and said that everybody provide themselves with them and they will live to give witness to the truth of that promise and so we see that the image the feast the chaplain of divine mercy are all of one piece and the proof of god's mercy for us and therefore he can be trusted to fulfill his promises for saint paul tells us that god is just in this that he is faithful to his promises and we can be assured by the approval of the church to sister faucina's revelations and forms of devotion that these are secure promises accomplished for us which we are to appropriate by the practice of the devotions that our lord presents to us through sister faustina and so we trust in that great mercy of his that great act of love of giving his life in our place to get rid of all sin and to make it possible for us by invoking his divine mercy to appropriate that forgiveness and there is no sin that he is not able to forgive only one should we refuse to accept his mercy that is the great sin against the holy spirit because her mercy is granted us is there awaiting us awaiting us for to appropriate it by the means that the lord made known to us and so let us give him thanks and praise for his tremendous mercy of not only revealing himself through his sacred image but also especially through the holy eucharist to which all are closely bound and which is that greatest act of love that jesus deigned because of the transformation of his human nature into divine at his resurrection he is able to be present even in the holy mysteries of the eucharist so may god have mercy on us in on the whole world may god heal us and grant us the grace of conversion and repentance may god heal all those who were involved in any way in the great as our lord said to sister faustina the most grievous crime of all the murder of infants in their mother's wombs that was his word to saint faustina after she three times had undergo tremendous pains when she almost died where she felt all her insides completely torn to pieces and nobody could figure out what that suffering was and no medications or anything were able to stop them they began each time exactly at eight o'clock in the evening and ended at 11. that could have been the time when abortions were being performed in the capital of poland warsaw before the second world war and that was something introduced through the russian domination of that part of poland for over a hundred years and warsaw was known for that and so when sister faustina received the vision of an angel about to chastise one of the most beautiful cities of her country she prayed that this would be averted and for a time it was because she had the vision of the angel coming in the dark cloud and receiving lightning bolts into his hand from the cloud and then casting them on the earth and faustino says that he that the lord may have him stop and that shortly the people will convert but they did not but she she wrote it down in her diary as a great storm to come and her prayer was to avert that storm and it was only realized after the war broke out that this is what she hampered the angel said stop her because what's coming forth from her mouth is not allowing me to fulfill your will of chastising that place and so we see the power of the chaplet of the divine mercy for whatever it is that we ask the lord for in complete trust that he will keep to his promise jesus you promised also that the greater the sinner the greater his right to your mercy and even though our sins be as read as garbage you would make them whiter than snow jesus reclaimed our right to your mercy and we beg your forgiveness please cover us in your precious blood that supreme act of your love giving your life in our place and deliver us from all evil make us whiter than snow jesus we trust in you jesus we trust that you can make all things new and we thank you glory be to the father and to the son and to the holy spirit as it was in the beginning is now and will be a world amen let us turn to our blessed mother who was the instructor to saint faustina of the way to holiness and pray remember almost gracious virgin mary that never wasn't known that anyone who fled to your protection implored your help or sought an intercession was left unaided inspired by this confidence i fly to you a virgin of her journeys my mother to you do i come before you i stand sinful and sorrowful the mother of the word and kindness despise not my petitions but in your mercy hear and answer me amen [Applause] let us now listen to our blessed mother from fatima in the prayer the angel taught the children often to offer my god i believe i adore i hope and i love you my god i believe i adore i hope and i love you i beg pardon for those who do not believe do not adore do not hope and do not love you i beg pardon for those who do not believe do not adore do not hope and do not love you almost holy trinity father son and holy spirit i adore you profoundly i offer you the most precious body blood soul and divinity of jesus christ present in all the tabernacles of the world in reparation for the outrageous sacrileges and indifference by which he is offended by the infinite merits of the sacred heart of jesus and the immaculate heart of mary i beg the conversion of poor sinners a prayer to mary to end abortion o mary mother of jesus and mother of us all we turn to you today as the one who said yes to life you will conceive and bear a son the angel told you despite the surprise and the uncertainty about how this could be you said yes be it done to me according to your word let us hear a word from our blessed mother that was given in 1976 to father goby for the priests of the movement for priests and the text found nothing contrary to faith or morals in the manuscript and given the imprimatur by archbishop veritas of pescara pende francesco cucaresi and this is what our lady spoke on december the 4th the first saturday of december 1976. my beloved sons be ever more docile and allow yourselves to be led by me with complete confidence in the darkness of this hour of trial for the church you are called by me to walk in the light the light shines forth from my immaculate heart and comes to you to envelop you and illumine your path stand firm never again must you doubt your road is safe because it has been marked out for you by your heavenly mother how much my motherly heart is saddened by the doubt and mistrust which is taking more and more hold of the souls of so many of my priest sons why do you doubt of what are you afraid jesus redeemed you from the evil one at the very hour of his triumph this is the hour of satan and of the power of darkness as we read in the gospel of luke chapter 22 verse 53 my son jesus gave you life forever at the very hour when he was slain on the cross at the moment of his death he set all of you free from death my church of which i am the mother lives again the life of christ and now is called to tread the same path he trod of what then are you afraid of a world that has hurled itself with violent hatred against you of satan who has succeeded in making his way into the heart of the church and of reaping his victims among us among from among its very pastors of the error which menaces it or the sin which darkens it more and more or the infidelity which floods it this my beloved sons is for my church still the hour of satan and of the power of darkness it will be also emulated like christ on the cross and be called to die for the salvation and the renewal of the world and since this is the hour of your purification it is above all the hour of your suffering could it perhaps be this that you fear but what if the father has called you now one by one from all eternity for this hour and what if your heavenly mother has long since chosen you and prepared you for this hour live then in serenity of spirit and without fear even in the midst of the anxieties and threats of your time and so i say again do not be always peering into the future to see what is going to happen live only the present moment with trust and complete abandonment in the heart in this heart of mind and we are led to the first page of sister faustina's first page of her notebook because it became her diary and she prayed oh my god when i look into the future i am frightened but why plunge into the future only the present moment is precious to me as the future may never enter my soul at all it is no longer in my power to change correct or add to the past for neither sages nor prophets could do that and so what the past has embraced i must entrust to god o present moment you belong to me whole and entire i desire to use you as best i can and although i am weak and small you grant me the grace of your omnipotence and so trusting in your mercy i walk through life like a little child offering you each day this heart burning with love for you for your greater glory let us thank our blessed mother for her encouragement and to know god has chosen us to be here at this time to help further his work of restoration and to assure the world of his mercy that will never end and we can always trust in him for he gave himself totally for us and it's an eternal salvation so we are all embraced by it but with all our hearts let us appropriate what he earned for us o blood and water which gusts forth from the heart of jesus is the fount of mercy for us i trust in you o blood and water which goes forth from the heart of jesus as the fount of mercy for us i trust in you o blood and water which goes forth from the heart of jesus as the fount of mercy for us i trust in you [Music] so oh blood and water which gushed forth from the heart of jesus is a fountain of mercy for us i trust in you o blood and water which gosh forth from the heart of jesus as a fount of mercy for us i trust in you own blood and water which gosh forth from the heart of jesus is a fount of mercy for us i trust in you brothers and sisters we continue to intercede for our world for our nation for our families for our homes for the dignity of the human person for the sanctity of life we thank all of you especially you marian helpers for joining us at the national shrine we thank father seraphim for the reflections that he gave to us the patriarch of our community and the us a great apostle of divine mercy that's brought this message to so many places in the world we also offer this holy hour for the whole entire marian community all marians of the immaculate conception we pray for all of you mary and helpers grateful that you are joining us this day in a very special way we offer this time for brother mark fanders who will be taking his perpetual vows with the community he who gives so much to the community we pray for rich blessings upon him during this time lord jesus you've been so good and generous to us in every way fathomable and imaginable you've given us everything of yourself you have loved us with a love beyond measure beyond comprehension you've called us into yourself you've assumed our nature and united it to your divinity you perfected it you took all the sins of the world upon you out of love for humankind and love for your father lord jesus we come in reparation this day we come in reparation for all of our indifferences for our ingratitude for our collective sins as a nation and as a world for choosing darkness over light for choosing evil over good for choosing sin and death over life beauty truth in true enduring peace you told faustina that the world would not have peace until it turns to you in your divine mercy you sent our lady the queen of peace to earth who's beckoned us little children pray pray pray lord jesus you spared none of yourself giving yourself to us from your cross giving your blood that great life sign that course through your veins human not contending against flesh and blood but against principalities against powers and against the world rulers of this present darkness against the spiritual host of wickedness in heavenly places therefore take the whole armor of god children of god that you may be able to withstand in the evil day and have having done all to stand stand therefore having fastened the belt of truth around your waist and having put on the breastplate of righteousness and having shot your feet with the equipment of the gospel of peace besides all these taking the shield of faith with which you can quench all
