Daily Mass for Tuesday March 1, 2022

you yeah it's too loud okay drink them okay okay it's on now okay good morning good morning there's um no particular saint on the calendar today but the whole world is really in a turmoil upset because of the invasion of you the ukraine this past week so we'd like to celebrate the mass this morning called in time of war and disturbance in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit our lord be with you as we begin our celebration this morning we pause for a moment calling to mind god's gifts and blessings and then again we ask his pardon for our faults and failings lord have mercy [Music] christ have mercy lord have mercy may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life and we pray oh god merciful and strong you crush wars and cast down the proud be pleased to banish violence swiftly from our midst and to wipe away all tears so that we may all truly deserve to be called your children we ask this through our lord jesus christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit god forever and ever a reading from the first letter of saint peter beloved concerning the salvation of your souls the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and investigated it investigating the time and circumstances that the spirit of christ within them indicated when it testified in advance to the sufferings destined for christ and the glories to follow them it was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you with regard to the things that have now been announced to you by those who preach the good news to you through the holy spirit sent from heaven things into which angels long to look therefore gird up your loin gird up the loins of your mind live soberly and set your hopes completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of jesus christ like obedient children do not act in compliance with the desires of your former ignorance but as he who called you is holy be holy yourselves in every aspect of your conduct for it is written be holy because i am holy the word of the lord thanks be to god the lord has made known his salvation [Music] the lord has made known his salvation sing to the lord a new song for he has done wondrous deeds his right hand has won victory for him his holy arm the lord has made known his salvation the lord has made not made his salvation known in the sight of the nations he has revealed his justice he has remembered his kindness and his faithfulness toward the house of israel the lord has been known his salvation all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation by our god sing joyfully to the lord all you lands break into song sing praise [Music] oh lord be in my heart on my lips that i may worthy proclaim the words of the holy gospel our lord be with you a reading from the holy gospel according to saint mark peter began to say to jesus we have given up everything and followed you jesus said amen i say to you there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the gospel who will not receive a hundred times more in this present age houses and brothers and sisters mothers children and lands with persecutions and eternal life in the age to come for many that are first will be last and the last will be first the gospel of the lord some time ago i mentioned about an author named james berry who was the author who made that play peter pan well he wrote some other short stories and there's one short story that he wrote about was a quite a wealthy family had a servant and they treated him like dirt they couldn't nothing he could do is right and they're always putting them down and just treating like i say like dirt well they took a vacation of course they brought him along just in case and as they were across the st the island they had a shipwreck and but they were able to get to this deserted island and there they were they didn't know what to do they couldn't even boil water but the servant knew what to do and so he started putting things together and he made things able that they could live there then they started realizing his gifts i think that along with the gospel here this morning what jesus says here the first will be last and the last will be first we need to be so careful in regards to how we treat others and so maybe you're reflecting on that gospel then as to how do you judge others is it by the world standards or is it by god's standards do you judge uh setting our hopes completely on god's grace let us bring our needs to our loving father and so we pray for all church leaders especially for the intentions of father chad greene for whom this mass is offered may the example of jesus inspire them in humble service of love for god's people let us pray to the lord lord hear our prayer for those who hold public office may god grant them strength compassion and wisdom in their duties let us pray to the lord r lord hear our prayer for those persecuted for their faith may the holy spirit bless them with fortitude let us pray to the lord [Music] for this faith community may the love of christ inspire us to share his love with our neighbors let us pray to the lord for the faithful departed may jesus welcome them to the great wedding feast of the lamb let us pray to the lord r lord hear our prayer heavenly father graciously look with favor upon our prayers which we ask in the name of jesus who loves us forever and ever blessed are you lord god of all creation through your goodness we have this bread to offer which earth is given human hands have formed it will become for us our bread of life by the mystery of this water and wine may we come to share the divinity of christ who humbled himself to share our humanity and blessed are you lord god of all creation through your goodness we have this wine to offer fruit of the vine the work of human hands it will become for us our spiritual drink lord god we ask you to receive us be pleased with the sacrifice we offer you with humble and contrite hearts lord wash away our sins and cleanse us of our iniquities my sisters and brothers in christ let us pray that our sacrifice and ourselves may be acceptable to god the father almighty amen oh lord be mindful that your son who himself is peace has destroyed our hatreds by his blood look in mercy on our evil deeds and grant that to those whom you love this sacrifice may restore peace and tranquility we ask this through christ our lord our lord be with you lift up your hearts and let us give thanks to the lord our god it is truly right and just our duty and our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks lord holy father almighty and eternal god through christ our lord in him you have been pleased to renew all things giving us all a share in his fullness for though he was in the form of god he emptied himself and by the blood of his cross brought peace to all creation therefore he has been exalted above all things and to all who obey him has become the source of eternal salvation with the angels the archangels thrones and dominions and with all the hosts and powers of heaven we sing the hymn of your glory as without end we acclaim holy holy holy lord god of hosts heaven and earth are full of your glory ozone in the highest blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord hosanna in the highest oh god you are indeed holy and to be glorified who loves the human race and who always walks with us on the journey of life blessed indeed is your son present in our midst when we are gathered by his love and when as once for the disciples so now for us he opens the scriptures and breaks the bread father most merciful we ask that you send forth your holy spirit to sanctify these gifts of bread and wine that they may become for us the body and blood of our lord jesus christ on the day before he was to suffer on the night of the last supper he took bread and said the blessing broke the bread gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you [Music] and eat it this is my body which will be given up for you in a similar way when supper was ended he took the chalice and gave you thanks gave the chalice to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me the mystery of faith save us savior of the world for by your cross and resurrection you have set us free holy father as we celebrate the memorial of christ your son our savior whom you led through his passion and death on the cross to the glory of the resurrection and whom you have seated at your right hand we proclaim the work of your love until he comes again and we offer you the bread of life and the chalice of blessing look with favor on the offerings of your church in which we show forth the paschal sacrifice of christ that has been handed on to us and grant that by the power of the spirit of your love we may be counted now and until the day of eternity among the members of your son in whose body and blood we have communion lord renew your church by the light of the gospel strengthen the bond of unity between the faithful and the pastors of your people together with francis our pope and paul our bishop and the whole order of bishops that in a world torn by strife we may shine forth as a prophetic sign of unity and concord remember our sisters and brothers who have fallen asleep in the peace of christ and all the dead whose faith you alone have known admit them to rejoice in the light of your presence and in the resurrection give them the fullness of life and grant also to us when our earthly pilgrimage is done that we may come to an eternal dwelling place and live with you forever there in communion with a blessed virgin mary the mother of god blessed joseph her spouse the apostles the martyrs and with all the saints we shall praise and exalt you through jesus christ your son through him with him in him o god almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours forever and ever this morning as we continue our prayer to the father let us offer our prayers praying for peace as we mentioned before especially at the ukraine at the present time and so we pray our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil deliver us lord from every evil and graciously grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin safe from all distress as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our savior jesus christ lord jesus christ you said to your apostles i leave you peace my peace i give you look not on our sins but on the faith of your church and grant us the peace and the unity of your kingdom where you live forever and ever the peace of the lord be with you we take a few moments to share a sign of peace peace peace peace peace lamb of god you take away the sins of the world have mercy on us lamb of god you take away the sins of the world have mercy on us lamb of god you take away the sins of the world grant us peace may this mingling of the body and blood of our lord jesus christ bring eternal life to us who receive it lord jesus christ with faith and love and mercy we eat your body and drink your blood let us not bring us condemnation but health in mind and in body behold the lamb of god behold him who takes away the sins of the world and blessed are we who are called to his table lord i am not worthy that you should enter under my roof but only say the word and my soul shall be healed oh lord grant to us nourished with the delights of the one bread that fortifies the human heart we may successfully overcome the fury of war and residently keep your law of love and justice we ask this through christ our lord our lord be with you may almighty god bless you in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit this mass has ended we go in peace to love and serve the lord in one another again i want to just thank you for being here this morning and of course we all know tomorrow's ash wednesday and so we'll put on our sackcloth and ashes i'll see you next week god bless
