time dad there were people who came from 20 different states they came from alberta canada they came from quebec this morning here at the 8 30 service there's a group of three ladies that mom wanted to come to the embraced conference for her birthday so the daughters loaded her up in the car they drove 18 hours from illinois just to be here for the conference they're here this morning for church and to those of you who are frustrated about your commute back to hollywood park when church is over they're going to be getting in the car and headed back home to illinois 18 hours what a blessing to be able to host people from all over the area at such a great event speaking of great events for people to be a part of our feast of tabernacles is going to be celebrated just about a month from from now in the month of october you're going to be speaking jensen franklin's going to be speaking our night to honor israel featured guest is secretary of state mike pompeo he's going to be here and we would certainly like to see him back in a role in this nation that would make decisions in a right way amen [Applause] the first time i talked to mike pompeo he was the head of the cia as before he became secretary of state and he was we had a phone date and i phoned precisely at the time and the secretary said the director will be with you in just a minute was a couple of minutes late and he came to the phone picked it up and he said i want to thank you for the glorious way you preached the gospel of jesus christ that's how he opened the conversation i looked into the telephone this is the director of the cia he's chasing spies criminals thugs of the highest order and this is the kind of christianity he became the secretary of state and i got to talk with him several times by myself one-on-one for 30 to 40 minutes which is a long time i want to assure you this man is brilliant he was number one in his class in west point he is a man of godly and righteous convictions america will be blessed by the presence of this man again in public office well he's going to be our guest during the feast of tabernacles on the nighttime or israel and if you're looking for a place to be in the month of october cornerstone church is a great place to spend it speaking of feast of tabernacles one of our testimonies that was sent in this week came from an experience at last year's feast this comes from james sparks he says i'm honored to be an honorary member of cornerstone in 2018 i was diagnosed with an aneurysm in my celiac artery the surgeon said that he could not operate because there was a chance that i would not survive the surgery i came to the feast of tabernacles with my wife and pastor matt and kendall were walking the grounds they heard me tell about my situation and took time to lay hands on me and pray for me i have been blessed to say that since that day the aneurysm has shrunk so considerably that the doctors say at the next scan they expect it to be completely gone well god bless you james and thank you for sending in that testimony dad there's a great thing going to happen here next sunday you're preaching [Applause] this coming sunday i'm going to begin a series titled knowing god and i begin with the prophet jeremiah who says there are men who trust in horses and trust in chariots let the man know that the man who trusts in god is the man who's going in the right direction do trust in this that they know god the question is do the people in america right now and the world truly know god the god of the bible whenever jesus was preaching he said broad is the way that leads to destruction and many there be that go there narrow is the way that gets to heaven and few there be to get there get the many and the few on another occasion jesus said on the day of judgment many will come to me and say lord did we not cast out demons in your name did we not do miracles in your name did we not do signs and wonders in your name and listen what jesus said jesus is going to say depart from me worker of iniquity you i never knew you i never knew you the point is this do we really know the god of the bible and what are the evidences that we know him and what are the evidences that we are being deceived by the prince of darkness into following a message that is not the message of the word of god i want you to hear this because it is a bible riveting series of the god who blesses of the god who loves of the god who has grace but there is a god of wrath that is going to bring us to a day of judgment for all the things we have said or done that have not been confessed and forsaken by the blood of christ amen i look forward to hearing that series i was looking on my desk this morning at the prayer journals that you challenged us with several weeks ago this is the one that i took and have been utilizing and i think on september the 12th it's an important time to remember the power of prayer because 20 years ago following september the 11th churches were shoulder to shoulder churches looked like football stadiums that's right because a great tragedy that had come upon this nation caused people to go in search of the god who answers prayer well he's still a prayer answering god and we need to still be a praying people amen that is very true i had an experience this week i mean you're bringing things up here had an experience this week we went out to eat supper and the waiter came to me and said the gentleman over at that table wants to buy your supper tonight so i went over and met him and he said i know who you are but i'm from dubai that's on the other side of the world and he said i want you to pray for my wife i said why he said i want you to pray that she will have a baby because i've spent seventy thousand dollars trying to get her body to receive a baby and i heard you say on television you prayed for a guy and his wife had twins i want you to pray for her i prayed for her right there brother just sing all i did was praise all i did was praise all i did was worship and all i did was worship [Music] all i did was stay still amen [Music] [Applause] [Music] the evidence of your obedience is giving the question that i want to ask you today is what kind of a giver are you second corinthians chapter nine it says the lord loves a cheerful giver but there's three kinds of givers that he describes he says there's a grudging giver meaning that you just got a bad attitude about it there's a necessity giver which means that you do it for reasons of your own and then there's a cheerful giver your giving is a praise unto god exodus 24 and 5 it says that moses offered 12 oxen one for every tribe it was brought by each tribe they offered twelve oxen as a sacrifice unto the lord they made a presentation to god moses gave them the word and the children of israel said we will do it and to honor the fact that they were gonna do it they gave god a sacrifice it's not just music it's not just preaching it's also giving god deserves your offerings because he's god and if you need more of a reason than that then what you're saying is i'm god would you stand for the reading of god's word and if you brought your bibles turn them to the 34th psalm as this morning we conclude the series what a way to live with the message the attitude of praise david tells us in psalm 22 he said the lord is holy he's enthroned upon the praises of israel in that one verse david is telling us that praise has the power to change the room that you're in into the throne room of our god in heaven most importantly what you need to know is that you don't beg your way into god's presence you don't complain your way into heavenly places you praise your way into his presence that's why the bible says enter into his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts say it with me with praise what's the power of god's presence the bible tells us that in his presence is the fullness of joy why because in his presence broken hearts are restored in his presence sorrow turns into dancing in his presence the weeping have a shout of joy in his presence captives are set free and the sick are healed because in his presence all of these things are possible when god's presence shows up the anthem of the redeemed is amazing grace when god's presence showed up victory in jesus becomes our song when god's presence shows up the bride of christ begins to sing a ballad because we have been washed in his blood and have been made white as snow praise is the echo of your heart that fills the hallways of heaven with the glory that only god deserves and it haunts every dungeon in hell by reminding them that our god is great and greatly to be praised are you in spiritual battle praise the lord why because he's the god who moves mountains he's the god who conquers powers and principalities he's the god that defeats giants and pulls down strongholds praise is an attitude and the question that i want to ask you today is do you have that attitude or justitude think about it read with me psalms 34 verses 1 and following if you're there say amen the bible says i will bless the lord at all times his praise shall continually be in my mouth my soul shall make its boast in the lord the humble shall hear of it and be glad o magnify the lord with me and let us exalt his name together heavenly father i pray that your presence would anoint this place today as we lift our voice in praise and honor and glory to you because you are the one to whom all praise is due in jesus name we ask these things and receive them in faith believing all of god's children said praise the lord you may be seated david gets to the heart of the matter with the first word that is written in this psalm and it reminds us of this very simple truth praise is personal say that with me praise is personal david said it this way i will bless the lord he didn't say you praise god for me he said it's up to me with one letter he lets us know that the most important individual involved in worship is you because you are the only person who will or will not decide whether or not god is worthy of glory now please understand this if you choose not to worship god you haven't taken anything away from god he's still glorious whether or not you say so he's still awesome he's still wonderful he's still mighty he's still god whether or not you choose to worship him but what you do when you don't worship is you lose out on the blessing of his presence david said i will bless the lord why because praise is personal we do it corporately and encourage one another when we come together that's why hebrews 10 and 25 again it says do not forsake the assembling of yourselves together but when we get together my praise doesn't liberate you and your praise doesn't liberate me i have to make up my mind to do it myself praise is not only personal but praise is a sign of maturity people oftentimes have that backwards they look at somebody who's abandoning their sense of others and worshiping god and suddenly they say well that that person is just immature no i believe that that person is mature enough to know where their blessings come from perspective is a powerful thing how you see it determines how you feel about it how you feel about it determines what you do about it and sometimes the reason we don't praise god is because we have a bad vision we cannot see what god's doing we look at our life as if there are so many burdens we just can't get out from underneath them rather than counting our blessings we complain about what's wrong praise is a sign of maturity i'll prove it to you how many of you expected your three-month-old child to say thank you for breakfast at three you just hope they eat and you don't expect much more than that because you recognize that they are not mentally developed enough to understand that you are the provider of what they are consuming i believe that there's a lot of god's kids that are that way all they do is consume what god provides and never give him thanks for it the problem is is we're not three months old some of us have been in church all of our lives i read a story in a medical journal and it was a story that was written about individuals who are caretakers for those who are invalid and in need and talking about the long-term effects that that situation has on caretakers and in this particular article they interviewed a mother and this mother had a son who was born with severe disabilities he cognitively did not have any awareness of who he was he didn't have any awareness of who she was he had no short-term or long-term memory whenever they described his condition basically he was a massive flesh with a heartbeat and every day his mother fed him she clothed him she cleaned him she took care of him she spent time with him even though he had no awareness of it she spoke to him she treated him with the honor that a mother treats her child with and the interviewer asked her a question he said how does it feel to live such a life of selfless service and sacrifice and the mother's reply was both heroic and tragic she said this is my son god gave him to me and it is my honor to be his mother and take care of him but then she said i only wish that just once he knew i was his mother i only wish just once he recognized me as mama she was saying that the individual who was doing the interview meant no more to her meant no more to her son than she did she said you don't mean any more to him than i do because mentally he doesn't understand that it's me he can't conceive that i've been the one who's been here every day for 15 years when i read that i thought to myself that's a lot like some of god's children he's been the one who's given us everything but we don't conceptualize nor mentally grasp that it has been him who has been there all along he's been the one who protected you he's been the one who provided for you he's been the one who healed you he's the one that got you out of bed this morning he's the one that hung the sun and the moon and the stars in the sky he's the one that created the ground that you walk on are you breathing today he's the one that gave you the breath that you breathe is your heart beating today he's the one that keeps it beating every moment that you live everything that you do everything that you touch it's all because of god that's why you've got to give him the glory that he's worthy of [Music] praise is personal and until you personally decide to do it you will not understand that praise is also powerful praise is powerful say that with me praise is powerful just a few moments ago pastor was telling us how he had a conversation with the director of the c.i.a now i don't know about you but i had a guilty conscience during that conversation what does he know about me but praise is so powerful that when you engage in it you get to have a conversation with god almighty the bible says he inhabits the praises of his people in his presence is the fullness of joy the joy of the lord is our strength praise is so powerful it'll cause you to believe you can do all things through christ praise is so powerful it'll help you to understand that my god shall supply all of my needs according to his riches in glory praise is so powerful that when you do it you'll begin to believe i have never seen the righteous forsaken nor their seed begging for bread and suddenly all of the burdens that you were carrying you don't have to carry them anymore because you've taken them off of your shoulders and you've cast them into the loving arms of jesus praise is so powerful that when you begin to enter into that atmosphere you begin to feel like goodness and mercy are following you all the days of your life and that he's going before you to prepare a table in the presence of your enemy oh church praise is so powerful that when we magnify the lord and exalt his name together the sick are healed the broken or mended the crooked way is made straight that's the kind of power you have when you praise [Applause] [Music] what brought jericho down a shout of praise not some brilliant military strategy but the power of praise seven days they walked around that problem in silence but when god gave them the the anointing of the power of praise everything that was impossible became a pile of rocks why because praise is powerful go read what the bible says about the reign of king jehoshaphat first and foremost he got a raw deal in the naming game but jehoshaphat comes to power and he restores worship and he restores the altar of the lord and he takes idol worship out and when israel starts to worship the one true god do you know what happens enemies start to come in have you noticed that the more you try to give your life to christ in praise the more problems you have do you know why because the enemy wants to distract you from the most powerful thing you can do he wants to take you out of the praise and worship game why because when you're worshiping god god is with you and when you're complaining he's not with you he's watching over you but you're on your own jehoshaphat has an enemy that's coming against him everyone comes to jehoshaphat and says look they're coming against you and there's nothing you can do about it and suddenly jehoshaphat receives a word and the word says send worshipers out in front of the army send out a praise team in front of the people who are carrying the swords and the shields and let's see what god does jehoshaphat did exactly that he sent a worship team in front of the army and the power of praise lifting up the mighty name of the god of abraham isaac and jacob the bible says that he did not even soil his sword but none of his enemies escaped do you want god to go before you and fight for you praise him praise him praise him praise him and see what god will do praise is so powerful that it delivered paul and silas from the chains and the walls of a prison praise is the song that changes everything in your life praise is what delivered daniel from the lion's den praise is what delivered david from the hand of goliath goliath the giant the champion of evil david the man after god's own heart goliath threatens the boy he says today i'm going to feed you to the birds of the air and david responds you've come to me with spear and sword but i have come to you in the name of the lord child of god how do you solve problems in your life you face that problem in the name of the lord you've been walking around your jericho long enough it's time for a shout of praise to enter your lungs and bring those walls down you've been staring at goliath long enough do not fear that giant but face him knowing that if god is for you who can be against you you've been imprisoned long enough i want you to lift your hands and raise your voice and magnify a god who sets captives free there is nothing our god cannot do when you praise him [Applause] we spend so much time what are we going to do what are we going to do what are we going to do what are we going to do what are we going to do about this pandemic what are we going to do about the government what are we going to do about this and what are we going to do about that when you start praising god you stop worrying about what we're going to do and you start getting excited about what our god can do praise is personal praise is powerful and praise is not optional you don't get a choice really without question here and now you have volition and volition is a fancy word that basically means you get to choose now without taking a rabbit trail we have people in power right now that want to take away your volition but even god on his throne gives you a choice choose you this day whom you will serve but when it comes to praise it's really not optional because the bible tells us that there's coming a day when every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that jesus christ is lord to the glory of god the father on that day you're not going to get to choose you're just going to have confirmation of the quality of the decision you made today because if you start worshipping him now on the day when every initial values have been doing this for years isn't it great but if you choose not to the difference is here on earth you humbly choose when you're forced to you'll be humiliated when you cannot choose the difference between the humble and the humiliated is not their position it's how they got there a humble person chose to bow a humiliated person is forced to bow but praise is not optional this is why the bible says let everything that has breath do what right now just go ahead and take in a big old deep breath like a sweating to the oldies working out with richard simmons all day kind of breath now let it out that settles it with that breath you have been ordained as an official instrument of praise god in heaven expects to hear something from you with the breath that you breathe he expects to hear the glory and the honor that is due his name you now have an official purpose and that is to offer your heart as a sacrifice to the king of kings and to the lord of lords everywhere that you go every day that you live because he is worthy of our praise are you having a bad day praise the lord are you enjoying great success praise the lord is your world falling apart praise the lord no matter what you're going through if you've got breath in your lungs then offer him that breath as a sacrifice of praise [Applause] you say well pastor i was raised in a very serious religion and i take church seriously and i was taught that this is a silent and sacred time okay i want you to know that i was raised seriously and here's what i know about church church is a serious place where people who had serious problems and were seriously without hope and seriously on their way to hell came in contact with a pure and holy god and he seriously set them free and he seriously redeemed them and he seriously gave them the power of his word and the anointing of his blood and he seriously healed them of sickness and disease and he seriously unlocks shackles of shame and he seriously made them heirs and joint heirs with jesus christ and i'm here to tell you today that that kind of god deserves a serious amount of praise you say well i just i'm just not comfortable doing that and you better get over it before you get to heaven and you better check your pulse here on earth why because the bible says the dead do not praise the lord the dead do not praise the lord now understand this this death is not speaking about your physical body it's speaking about your soul psalms 34 and verse 2 my soul shall make boast of it what is it about a song of praise that liberates the room it's not the words it's not your voice it's not your talent it's when you put your soul into it how come you can hear one person sing and nothing happens and all of a sudden something moves in the room it's because someone has offered their soul as a sacrifice of praise so when the bible says the dead do not praise the lord it means that your soul is so closed off from god that it's it's it's it's as if it does not exist do you want to prove to the world the flesh and the devil that you're still alive that everything they've tried to do has done nothing but motivates you the most powerful sign of life that you have is to lift your hands and raise your voice and say god i thank you god i praise you god you are good and your mercy endures forever when the devil tried to defeat me you gave me the strength to overcome my enemies when he tried to steal my joy i lifted my voice and i shouted unto you with the voice of triumph when he tried to take my family i laid them on the altar before you and you put your hand of protection around them the devil tried to take my health but i'm praising god because by his stripes i'm healed the devil tried to destroy my peace but i'm praising god because he gives me peace that surpasses understanding the devil tried to take my business but god you honored every gift that i gave and you opened up the windows of heaven and you poured out upon me blessings that i could not contain so i'm giving you thanks today i'm giving you praise today i'm looking at the battle that is before me and i'm not afraid because i do not have a spirit of fear but a power and of love and of sound mind i'm not concerned about my enemies because the battle that i'm in belongs to the lord give the lord a shout of praise [Applause] that kind of praise comes with an attitude and it is an attitude of worship you choose your attitude david said i'll bless the lord at all times doesn't matter where i am doesn't matter what i'm going through the conditions on earth do not determine whether or not my god is worthy of praise so here's what i want us to do as we close this service i want you to stand to your feet and i want you to put to practice the powerful words of this psalm today i will bless the lord at all times i know that in this room today there are as many needs as there are people there's physical needs there's financial needs there's spiritual needs some of you have had members of your family suffering with sickness some of you are searching for economic and financial solutions in the midst of a world that's always changing some of you have watched your loved ones walk away from the lord and today your heart is just broken by what the enemy is trying to do in their life remember this praise is personal you have to decide to do it two praise is powerful it changes things but most importantly it's not optional so right where you are i want you to lift your hands and i want you to begin to praise the lord just thank him give him glory give him honor that he's worthy of thank him for how he's protected you thank him for how he's provided for you thank him for all that he's ever given you that you didn't deserve thank him for everything that he spared you of that you did deserve thank him that when the enemy came against you he became a shield and a shelter and a strong tower give him praise and glory because he is great and greatly to be praised god our father in heaven you are the one who created us you are the one who has given us life you are the one who has ordained praise as a weapon of our warfare that we can go into heavenly places and pull down strongholds and take authority over powers and principalities that exalt themselves against the knowledge of god so as we magnify your name make this sanctuary your throne room and come into this place today and break shackles and destroy burdens and lift yokes of oppression give joy where there is sorrow give strength where there is weakness give peace where there is fear give hope where there is despair today in jesus mighty name change lives and move mountains and shape destinies today in jesus mighty name heal sick bodies today in jesus mighty name pour out blessings today in jesus mighty name make a way where there seems to be no way and we'll give you thanks and we'll give you praise and we'll give you glory and we'll give you honor because you and you alone are worthy in jesus name in jesus name i love you lord just worship and i lift my excited to share with you some information from a booklet that pastor hegge and i recently worked on entitled the power to prosper in this booklet are 26 biblical principles about how god intends for you as his child to be able to prosper and receive his promises in your life and this week i'm going to share just one of those principles for the next few weeks i'd like to share additional principles and let you know that you can get all 26 of them by contacting the ministry at jhm.org and finding out more about how this resource can be yours for further study but the first principle of god's prosperity in your life is simply this you will never prosper until you believe and confess that it is god's will for you to prosper recognize that everything that you and i receive from god we receive in faith how do we receive salvation in faith believing how do we receive healing the book of james says the prayer of faith will save the sick and the lord will raise them up when you and i read the word of god and we read it in faith we can have what the bible says we can have we can do what the bible says we can do we can be who the bible says we can be and so when you pick up god's word and you read third john the second verse it says these words beloved i pray that you may prosper in all things not just a few things in all things and be in good health just as your soul prospers now this particular bible verse gives us some insight into the biblical definition of prosperity because it lets us know that it is not just in the singular dimension of our natural focus when you and i speak about prosperity we typically focus on financial resources but god's definition includes so much more god is not just concerned about your financial well-being he's most concerned about your spiritual well-being and your emotional well-being your physical well-being and if you have a healthy spirit a healthy mind a healthy body chances are your financial resources are going to follow in the same direction the thing that you need to understand is that you and i are created in the image of almighty god and almighty god is a sufficient and abundant god there is no lack in who he is he is all sufficient all by himself this is the definition of the biblical phrase el shaddai it means the all-sufficient one first chronicles says these words both riches and honor come from you and you reign over all so if you have received any kind of wealth of any type or measure in your life if you have received any form of honor it comes from god because he is the one who reigns over all and the way that he reigns in his dimension over all things he wants you to reign as his child here on earth he wants you to live above the circumstances and not beneath them this is what the bible teaches us in deuteronomy 28 and 13. this is often quoted but seldom understood there in deuteronomy 28 13 it says and you shall be the head and not the tail you shall be above only and not beneath now listen closely to this if you heed the commandments of the lord your god this is a conditional promise you don't just get to be promoted to the head and taken away from the bottom which is the tale but in order to accomplish this you must first and foremost heed the commandments of the lord that means that what he says you willingly do and one of the things that you have to do before you're willing to obey him is you have to understand that it is god's will for you to prosper but your prosperity is directly connected to your willingness to be obedient to god's word second corinthians chapter nine and verse seven this is a verse that i preached on just a few days ago in which i said the lord loves a cheerful giver god looks at your heart in everything that you do and when you do it with a joyful spirit you need to know that you're doing it obediently when you do it grudgingly you're doing the right thing but you're doing it in the wrong way when you do it out of necessity again you're engaging in an appropriate behavior but you have an inappropriate attitude this is why jesus looked at the pharisees who were giving and considered the widow who only put in two mites and he told the disciples she has given greater than all who are participating why because she gave out of sacrifice and she gave with the right and willing heart let's look at what david said in psalms chapter one this psalm is one of my absolute favorites and there we read these words it says blessed is the man now understand that that word blessed is a very powerful phrase it means he is to be envied have you ever looked at somebody here on this earth and everything that they have you go wow look at their house look at their family look at their possessions look at the things that they've done that are successful my goodness that's the way the bible describes someone who is blessed they are to be envied when you consider the things that they have and the things that they're doing and the things that they're accomplishing it's astounding but here are the conditions of receiving that kind of blessing it says blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly let me ask you this question where do you turn for your advice and counsel do you look to god's word whenever you need answers or do you look to ungodly people and consider their advice fellow believers individuals with godly wisdom and experience people who have insight or do you look to the people of this world who are filled with the spirit of self and only want to do things that please and accomplish their will the psalm continues it says blessed is a man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly nor stands in the path of sinners now notice this progression first you're walking with the ungodly that means you're going the same direction that the world is going and then as you become more comfortable walking with them you start standing with sinners you start taking the positions of the people in this world and here's what the bible says a sinner is someone who knows to do right and does it not how many people do you see in our modern world in church today they go and they hear the word of god but then they want to argue the world's position against god's truth i have conversations with people who ask me about my position on biblical definitions of things like marriage and family and i very clearly state what the word of god says god created them male and female there's only two genders a biblical marriage is between a man and a woman their purpose is to be fruitful and multiply that means have children and yet people want to begin to argue but what do you think about and then they take the position of the world do you know what they're doing in that conversation they're standing with sinners instead of standing on god's word finally it says blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly nor stands in the path of sinners nor sits in the seat of the scornful scornful people are people who literally resent god for who he is and it doesn't take much observation to see in the world that we're in today the world is filled with them when you become comfortable with the world you are of the world an ungodly person simply lives ignorant of who god is a sinner is someone who deliberately defies the lord the book of james to him who knows to do right and does it not to him it is sin scornful people scornful people are those who are literally angry and vengeful against the god who created the heavens and the earth therefore psalms 1 says blessed is the man. whose delight is in the law of the lord and in his law he meditates day and night now understand this concept of meditating in the law of the lord is not just poetry this is literally god's prescription for success if you were to go to the doctor and you were to ask him to treat you for a condition he would say i'm going to write you a prescription and then he'd hand you the prescription and you would go fill the prescription and taking the medication that he gave you you would begin to feel the effects of the treatment and suddenly begin to live a healthier and more well-balanced life well here's god's prescription for success that you see and do the word of god this is what god told joshua in joshua 1 8 he said this book of the law shall not depart from your mouth but you shall meditate on it day and night what did psalms 1 say that you shall observe it day and night and that you may do all that is written in it now listen to god's promise he said if you meditate on it day and night and you do all that's in it then you will make your way prosperous and then you will have good success what is god's prescription for prosperity and success the answer the word of god doing what the bible says please understand that the bible is a better business manual than the wall street journal why because the wall street journal is filled with speculation is filled with opinion pieces it's filled with what experts think might happen the bible is filled with truth it's filled with principles that will not return void but based on god's promise will accomplish everything that he said they would this is a better parenting manual than anything dr spock or any other clinical psychologist ever wrote everything that james dobson ever put in a book that worked came from the word of god why not just because he's good in his field but because this is the source of truth these words were commissioned by god our father in heaven it's a better marriage manual dr phil and everybody else who's trying to put couples back together can't do for you what god's word can do because god's word promises that a threefold cord is not easily broken a threefold cord in a marriage is created when one man gives himself lovingly to the needs of one woman who gives herself submissively to the leadership of a man and together they form a threefold cord with the word of god which is the very spirit of god here on the earth this is a better physical workbook than your favorite fitness app why because when you read the promises of god's word it's literally health to your navel and it is moral to your bones that's what proverbs tells us thy word is health to my navel and moral to my bones many of you may have heard the testimony that pastor shares of his own mother who was diagnosed with cancer in her 60s and the doctors found what they described as a grapefruit-sized tumor and they were telling her that it was going to cause her life to be redefined in order for them to cut that tumor out regardless of what the diagnosis was she scheduled the surgery that they had suggested and she went home prayed the prayer of faith with her family that god would heal her and then began reading the word of god she would read she said she read psalms 91 to her tumor psalms 91 says no plague shall come near my dwelling psalm 91 says he who dwells in the secret place of the most high shall forever abide in the shadow of the almighty for thirty days she read that psalm to that tumor and when the surgery came instead of finding a grapefruit size mass they found a mass about the size of a walnut instead of it taking hours to cut out it took moments to remove and instead of taking months for her to recover so that she could begin to function again she was back at work in a few weeks and she lived from her mid 60s all the way to the age of 98 in fabulous health why because god's word is alive and it's powerful and it brings health to your navel and it brings morrow to your bones this is a better book and a better therapist and a better counselor than money can buy why because people go to counseling that they might receive some measure of hope and joy in their life and yet the bible says the joy of the lord is our strength people go and sit and visit with others so that they can have peace of mind about the world that we're living in and yet the bible says he'll keep you in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you people go so that they can feel hope instead of despair and the bible tells us that god is a god of all hope how does all of this happen first you believe that god wants for it to happen in your life because until you believe it in faith you can't receive it in your life secondly you receive christ into every area of your life now what does that mean receiving christ into every area of your life many people say pastor matt i've already received christ well i believe that there's a lot of people who receive him as savior but i think that there are few who call him lord what's the difference savior means that you receive him as the one who rescues you from sin he's the one who shed his blood that you might be ransomed from the price that sin had against you that price according to romans the wages of sin is death ephesians chapter 2 says it is by grace grace comes from god that you have been saved through faith there again how do we receive things from god through faith it is by grace that you have been saved through faith it is the gift of god that no man can boast that gift comes from jesus in the form of salvation it is something only christ could do for you and i and there are many people who receive him as savior but when you call him lord that's when you receive him into every area of your life calling him savior is receiving what he did for you calling him lord is when you are saying i am going to receive you into every area of my life and it's something that you must do for him lord means whatever you ask me as your servant i'll do it lord means whatever i read from your word i'll obey it i won't debate your word i'll do your word lord means not only do i accept you as my redeemer but i receive you as lord of every area of my life you are the lord of my health that means the decisions that i make with my physical body i make for you you are the lord of my finances that means everything that i have stewardship of i'm going to allow you to use it you're the lord of my marriage if your word declares it from my household that's what we'll do you're the lord of my home my home shall be governed by the statutes of your word you're the lord of my business i'm not going to go to work for me i'm going to go to work because you're the god who gave me the strength to go to work you're the lord of my time i'm going to prioritize you in every hour that i spend you're the lord of my talents whatever gifts you've given me i give them back to you that you can use them for your glory you're the lord of my treasure in a few days we're going to be speaking about the meaning the biblical definition of this concept of treasure because it's not just gold that you find in a chest buried in the sand the bible says wherever your treasure is there will your heart be also that means the things you love most in this world do you love god more than those you see when you fully accept christ in this way when you receive him into every area of your life you're fulfilling what matthew 6 and 33 says seek first the kingdom of god and his righteousness and all of these things shall be added unto you once you accept him as lord in every area of your life and you begin hearing and doing his words as it says in the book of romans when faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of god you begin to develop the strength to do what jesus says that's what jesus asked his disciples he said why call me lord and not keep my commandments whenever he spoke in his parables whenever he taught in his earthly ministry he said blessed is he who hears and does these sayings of mine that word blessed again means to be envied the individual who takes my word and puts it to practice is going to live the kind of life that is going to prosper in everything that it does that's what he promised in 3 john chapter 2. beloved i wish above all things that you prosper and be in good health even as your soul prospers i assure you it is god's will for you to prosper and in this latest book that pastor and i have worked on together a resource for you the power to prosper that's just one of the 26 principles that we share with you today if you haven't received christ as lord of every area of your life i want to pray with you that you would do that i want you to say this prayer with me lord jesus right now i receive you not just as my savior who has redeemed me from sin and paid the price for my salvation but as my lord so that i will do all that your word has asked
