almost under red dot lower red dot almost center mass [Music] the day six millimeter arc was announced i begged the poor guy i know at cmmg to send me a rifle i bet he is so sorry that he ever gave me his number and i'm sure i'm blocked at this point the six millimeter arcs sounded cool to me and i know that cmmg builds excellent and extremely accurate rifles so i felt that they would make a great combo cmmg did get the rifle right out to me which was rad but it took me a few weeks to track down some ammo nevertheless once i got the gun and the ammo i finally got to head to the range and see what all the hype was about you've been living under a rock here's the basics of six millimeter arc the story goes that the dod approached hornady to see if they could develop a round that would have the long range capabilities and deliver energy on target like a 308 yet feed out of a standard ar-15 platform the idea was the constant i want the power of a 308 but i want it to fit into my ar15 basically can i have all the power of a bulldozer but i want it to fit into my sports car one serious thing to consider is that would give the shooter a 30 weight savings on both the ammo and the rifle platform pretty big deal if you have to hump it through the mountains of afghanistan not as big of a deal if you're moving it from my truck to the shooting line but it is still appreciated i'm not going to bore you guys with a bunch of numbers and tables if you want to see that stuff go check out gavin tube he has several very good videos on the six millimeter arc with a lot of science data and tables if that's what you need to see i'm basically going to give you the slightly enlightened redneck overview hornady took their six millimeter projectile which has a very high bullet coefficient that means it's extremely aerodynamic and combine that with the 6'5 grendel case giving that six millimeter projectile the most powder it can to get up to speed [Music] basically here's how it shakes out as far as range the six millimeter arc should stay supersonic just longer than 308 out of the same length barrel once a projectile passes from supersonic to subsonic accuracy and energy fall off and you can hit a target past that point it's just not practical for any real world application meaning that with the same length barrel you'll get longer or at least same range with six millimeter arc compared to 308 when you look at energy 308 is more powerful at shorter ranges however as you get to longer ranges they get closer to the same energy but 308 always does have a slight edge over the six millimeter arc but it is close that means if your expected target is at let's say 500 yards or better both rounds will have similar energy on target with a slight edge to the 308 but it's close and you'll get the massive weight savings if you go with the six millimeter arc this is my first time getting to play with an actual cmmg endeavor which is cmmg's lineup of long range precision built ars i received the 300 series which has all the bells and whistles as always i was extremely impressed with how cmmg has equipped this rifle you'll of course get all the goodies you would expect from cmmg 7075 t6 aluminum receiver sets their full length m-lock handguard and of course their awesome ambi charging handle what really impressed me is some of the absolutely top-notch accessories cmmg has put into this 300 series endeavor it comes with a geisley ssa two-stage trigger the trigger is phenomenal and i love a nice two-stage trigger for long-range precision shooting another feature that i love on the 300 series of endeavor is the magpul prs stock there are a lot of options available now for precision stock on your ar based rifle and most of them are cheaper than the magpul prs however i've yet to see one that is better than the prs and i'm glad that cmmg didn't skimp on this component the magpul prs gives you a rock solid foundation when combined with the geissele trigger and the very well-built cmmg endeavor it gives you a phenomenal platform no matter what caliber you are using basically there's a few rounds that are all chasing that title of the most powerful fastest longest range that you can still shoot out of an ar-15 for those that don't know the major contenders are six millimeter arc 224 valkyrie 6'5 grendel and i think we can all pretty much agree that 22 nosler is already dead at this point anyone out there still shooting a 22 nosler somebody notify nosler it's over i want to be upfront that i do own a 224 valkyrie and have a lot of experience with 224 and i will say that my experience has been more positive than most i do not have a 6'5 grendel while i have shot it my experience with 6.5 grendel is somewhat limited so most of my comparisons will pretty much be to the 224 valkyrie where 224 falls short for me is i lose some consistency at a thousand yards to me that means the bullet is running out of gas and becoming unstable out to about 700 or 800 yards my 224 is razor accurate and extremely consistent but that jump to a thousand hurts it a little bit probably because it's going subsonic and i'm not saying i can't get shots on at a thousand they're just inconsistent six millimeter arc was a pretty dramatic improvement not only was it very consistent at a thousand yards but it hits the thousand yard plate with authority like it still has quite a bit of power left it would be interesting to get six millimeter arc on an even longer range and see how far you could really stretch it [Applause] come up two or three clicks you want to yeah almost done the red dot lower red dot almost center mass [Applause] well that was easy six millimeter arc out of the cmmg endeavor was also very accurate easily sub moa at 100 and even some of the groups that we got at even longer ranges were extremely impressive i do want to note that as the barrel got fairly hot say after a fairly consistent 10 to 15 rounds or so we did notice signs of vertical stringing now i'd really like to shoot six millimeter arc more to confirm this and keep in mind it was right at 100 degrees the days we were shooting the endeavor so the barrel didn't have the best environment to cool in again i need to shoot six millimeter arc more to confirm that and i feel most people probably wouldn't shoot this round that much that quickly but i did want to at least mention it the performance on a fairly cool barrel is extremely impressive this is what excites me most though about six millimeter arc if you look at these two these are two sub 10 inch groups at a thousand yards meaning they are sub 1moa at 100 and that is the consistency that i'm looking for and with a little bit more time and practice with this round and this rifle i think i could even improve on that we used some pretty cool accessories to finish off the cmmg endeavor and get it ready for prime time first off from the recommendations from many of you i picked up a vortex strike eagle and i have to say that i am beyond impressed for the price [Music] the scope has proven to be awesome on six millimeter arc i'm gonna try to get it on some heavier recoiling calibers to see how it holds up but the video is in the works and so far this may be the best scope for the money currently and if you're looking to pick up your own check out opticsplanet use the code alabama you get the gear you want and it helps out the channel a little bit at the same time we also use the kg made r30 suppressor this suppressor is specifically engineered for precision shooting and has unique features like an integrated functioning brake built into it that means that this is not just an empty chamber it really does help reduce recoil video is in the works for the r30 as well but a very cool suppressor so far [Music] i'd like to spend some more time shooting six millimeter arc but my initial impressions are that it would seem to live up to the hype for me it was much more consistent at a thousand yards than my 224 valkyrie which is what i was hoping it would do all while keeping it in the very compact ar15 package i had to send this cmmg endeavor back to cmmg so that they could get it in the hands of another reviewer it was a sad day when i had to let the endeavor go however when cmmg gets some more in stock i will be getting my own endeavor in six millimeter arc because i do feel there is some validity to this round now if you're happy with the performance of your 224 valkyrie or your 6'5 grendel i'm not sure you need to hop on the six millimeter arc bandwagon however if you feel that either of those rounds hasn't quite lived up to your expectations and you're looking for a little more performance at a slightly longer range from an ar-15 size rifle i do feel that the six millimeter arc is probably the best offering currently [Music] guys as always thank you so much for watching if you're not subscribed to the channel go ahead
