man thank you come on that's good for me but if you love Jesus in this place how about you stand to your feet lift up your hands come on and give him a shout come on this is the 11:00 a.m. service I heard this was the the loud service the grateful service if there's anybody in the room and you're grateful for the blood of Jesus what he accomplished on that cross come on why don't you lift up your hands just just show Jesus how much you love them in this place bang Trinity I'm so happy to be here stay standing stay standing for a second now because first and foremost how amazing is it that we get to do this together we get to worship God we get to stand in his presence and receive words herseif healing completely overwhelmed and blown away by by the presence of God that's so heavy in this place I never want to take that for granted I know you can get used to this but you know this isn't normal right you know there are churches gathering today that aren't experiencing the same power that we're experiencing that's in this room so one more time if you are grateful for your church if you're grateful for the community that you're a part of come on how about you give Jesus a shout in this place and don't you love your senior pastors come on can you thank God with me for pastor Jim and Becky Hennessy i'ma give you another opportunity to do that but let me set you up better theology tells us that when we make much of a man or a woman of God what we're saying is God we agree with your choice and as a result of that God gets his glory now here's where it works for us when we take a second in honor who God has positioned what we're doing is making ourselves available to receive whatever it is that not only God has for us but what God wants to do through the leaders and the pastors that he's placed over us you've heard the statement Jesus couldn't perform miracles in his own hometown because of the lack of honor but wouldn't then the opposite be true had there been an abundance of honor there wouldn't have been an abundance of miracles and a breakthrough come on can we take a second right now and thank God for your senior leadership thank God for the men and the woman that he's placed over this house we thank you we honor you love you you can stay seated you can get c2b don't have to get quiet okay so excited excited to be here with you I had a great time last night your Saturday night service and just this morning at a 9:00 a.m. but if I'm being honest I was looking forward to this moment because the 11:00 a.m. is famous did you guys know you're famous you're famous for being the loudest and the rowdy is then the most responsive death that's what I heard that's what I heard I don't I don't know if it's true I come with with greetings on behalf of my parents who are my senior pastors pastor Michael and Maria they're so and I know that you all know Maria when I when I mentioned turn the earlier service I just I thought I wasn't gonna get the crowd back are they which things for me being her son is ever having to go preach somewhere that she's already preached because maybe you're expecting the same from me it's not gonna happen okay that's a special woman right there however if I ever start preaching bad just remember that's Maria's son okay this so be nice be kind but man we do come from a loud church we do come from a responsive church and I feel like I'm home in this place so we're we're gonna dive into the Word of God is that okay man I I can't tell you how much I I just I love I love your pastors I just getting to meet them for the first time I've actually been to the church before one of my best friends in all the world pastor Robert and Taylor Madhu when they were doing youth ministry I came here which was I was a while ago but man I'm I thank you for giving me them they are just two of the greatest people - my wife and I and they just mean the most to our church and we're just we're grateful we love this church we love this house and it's actually an exciting season for me your your pastor mentioned that I have a book is called The Heist how grace robs us of our shame and I've got some copies with me I'll be in the lobby after the service to sign and talk and answer any questions that you may have about the book but any question I don't answer it's in the book so that Oh that'll help you now but one of the questions I do get pretty frequent is pastor Chris after I'm done reading the book am I now gonna have a full and complete understanding of the grace of God to which I say no that's that's impossible that's that's not gonna happen because no man outside of Jesus could write that book the grace of God is too deep it's it's too vast it's too great it's too complex the Bible says who could understand the mind of God because our finite and restricted thinking grace does not make sense but although I truly believe that no one here can fully understand grace I do believe we could fully receive grace and that is my prayer that is my hope in writing this book that's my prayer my hope in these next few moments I want to talk to you about the grace of God this morning is that okay come on can we talk about the grace of God is anybody grateful for the grace of God I want to read from the book of Mark the fifteenth chapter starting at the 16th verse I'm rereading from the message translation which will read probably or most likely a little bit differently than the translation you brought with you but that's okay because we have electronic Bibles to my left and to my right and you could read along there and then we're gonna skip on over to the book of Colossians the second chapter the 13 first but this is this is how it reads in mark chapter 15 it says they dressed him him is Jesus they dressed him up in purple and put a crown plated from a thorn bush on his head then they began their mockery Bravo King of the Jews they banged on his head with a club spit on him and knelt down in mock worship after they had had their fun man that that line right there gets me every time after they'd had their fun beating our Savior after they had had their fun they took off the purple cape and put his own clothes back on him then they marched out to nail him to the cross there was a man walking by coming from work Simon from Cyrene the father of Alexander and Rufus they made him carry Jesus's cross the soldiers brought Jesus to gah-gah the meaning skull hill they offered him a mild painkiller wine mixed with myrrh but he wouldn't take it and they nailed him to the cross they divided up his clothes and threw dice to see who would get them skipping on over to the book of Colossians the second chapter the 13th verse it says he forgave us all our sins man isn't that good right there I say that's a good reason to shout right there he forgave us all our sins you know what the word all means in Hebrew and Greek it means all okay so he forgave us all our sins each and every same person okay we're in the south person he forgave us all our sins having canceled the written code with his regulations that was against us and that stood opposed to us he took it away man if your Bible reads that way you should underline if you're taking notes you should write that down if you're not taking notes you should be taking notes write that down he took it away that's a word right there for somebody's you don't even realize what he took away the thing you'd be you're holding on to the the reason why we got that prophetic word just a few moments ago he he already took it away and you keep picking it up like you're supposed to but he he took it away he took it away nailing it to the cross and having disarmed the powers and authorities he made a public spectacle of them triumphing over them by the cross is there anybody in the room at the 11:00 a.m. service that is still grateful for the cross of Jesus [Music] come on is there anybody that's convinced that that cross is still as powerful today as it was almost 2,000 years ago come on the blood that was shed on that cross is still as potent today Trinity if you believe that take 20 seconds right now and give Jesus a shout [Applause] the cross the cross across across there's nothing greater than the cross there's nothing more powerful than the process the cross changed everything because of what Jesus did on that cross there now lies an assignment for each and every one of us i prayer my hope is that through the grace of god you receive whatever that assignment is for you i want to take the next few moments and preach to you from this idea i got it from here you should write that down i got it from here because it's more than a title it's a declaration i got it from here would you pray with me one more time father God we need you we love you and we thank you we thank you for everything you've done thus far we thank you for the years of ministry we thank you for everything you've done the past few weeks through the Hell House Oh God what you're doing through through the life and through the prophetic ministry of this church thank you for all the souls oh god that were restored and saved over the course of this the past few hours Oh God we still believe that the best is in front of us we believe that there is more so would you show up and show out would you do something great in this place unlike we've ever experienced before not because my preaching is great but because your spirit is great and the Word of God says we go from glory to glory to glory to glory so can we receive your glory today in experience like never before and when it's all said and done we promise to give you all the praise all the glory and all the honor turn it if you agree with that can you give Jesus one more shot come on as I was preparing for this message I was I was thinking about this this one statement that I've heard so much growing up maybe you're familiar with this statement there are just some things in life that you have to do on your own has anybody ever ever heard that statement before it's and I I find the statement to be completely and 100% true I mean think about it think about any test you've ever taken if you brought friends with you to help you you would be disqualified right if it was a school test or a driving test you can't bring friends with you why because there were just some things in life you got to do on your own think about going to the gym it's okay to go in a group but how many of us know if you don't work out yourself if you don't diet yourself you're never gonna get to the shape that you want to be why because just because you're in the group that doesn't mean that you're doing the work there are just some things in life you got to do on your own this upcoming November I'll be celebrating twelve years of marriage come on how good is that celebrating twelve years of marriage I know what you're thinking she's she's blessed absolutely but can you imagine how messed up it would have been thirteen years ago when I went to propose had I sent a friend to ask her for me why because there are just some things in life you got to do on your how many of us know we serve a god that requires us to do some things on our own in other words nobody else can pursue holiness for you nobody else can pursue purity for you nobody else can tithe for you nobody else can study for you nobody else can pray for you I mean people can pray for you but nobody else can pray the words that you're supposed to pray the prayers you're supposed to declare over your children over your spouse over your home there are just some prayers that you are supposed to pray yourself nobody else can praise God for you are there any Prazeres in the room come on nobody else can shout to God for you are then these shouters in the room nobody else can worship God for you I know that this is the church that knows how to worship if the worshipers are in the today come on give Jesus a shout there are just some things in life that you are to do on your own and we serve a God that requires us to do some things on our own in one area very particular that I want to focus on this morning with you is your cross nobody else can carry your cross for you there has been a crust that has been placed in front of you and it's because Jesus says if you want to be my disciple you must carry your cross daily now I know it first mentioned this could be a bit confusing for us because when we think about the term cross and we think about all the songs that we sing and all the messaging we hear about Jesus dying on the cross and on the cross he said it is finished and he died as me why would I have to carry a cross if he died on the cross I'm glad you asked because the cross that Jesus died on was our cross of sin when he makes this statement to his disciples and to all his disciples he's actually referring to our cross of purpose that's exactly what the word translates to so when he says if you want to be my disciple what he's saying is you must carry out your purpose on a daily basis now it's key to understand that when we say the word purpose what does that mean here's a good definition for you your purpose is God's predestined plan for your life God has a plan for your life how many of you have heard that before how many of you would know that and believe that and accept that there is a plan that God has for your life and now it plays differently for each and every one of us some of us are called into full-time ministry where we work at a church but some of us are called to full-time ministry where we work at a hospital and we're doctors but as a doctor that's our opportunity to share Jesus amen some of us are called to be small business owners other us are called to own chain restaurants and I'm not sure what area in life whether it be education law or the church however I'm that each and every one of us has a cross that's been placed in front of us and God is not wasteful with his time or his word so he's now gonna give you a cross he's not gonna give you a word and not expect you to do anything with it he says if you want to be my disciple I need you to get to your purpose now this right here will ruffle some feathers because when you start to think about your purpose and you start to think about what it is that God has called you to to do it can be a bit overwhelming like how could I get to that and how could I involve myself with that and what you're actually saying is is going to be the complete opposite direction into what I've been working towards here's what I'm telling you God says if you want to be my disciple I need you to get with the plans that I have planned for you not the plans that you have planned for you but the plans that I have planned for you and you could look at it and say well I've been I've invested already so much time you didn't invest time you've been wasting time because there's a plan that God has for you and he says if you want to be my disciple don't just show up on the church on Sunday even though we're glad you're here it's not just tithe even though you're supposed to tithe it's not just giving offering even though you're supposed to give in offering he says if you want to be my disciple don't just put on the church the shirt don't just put up the Instagram post I want you to carry out your purpose daily but so often we treat our purpose like a hobby and we like to think that we'll get to it when we have time to get to it we'll get to it on my day off I'll get to it when I when I'm done with school I'll get to it when the kids are older and we become experts on making all these excuses but but my argument to you would be why would God put in front of you put it in front of you today and expect you to handle it tomorrow he says if you want to be my disciple you must carry out your cross daily so it is not up to us to say god I'm gonna follow you but I'll pursue purpose later if you're really going to follow him then your purpose can't wait any longer what is it that he's calling you to do what's the assignment that's been placed on your life and I know at first glance it could seem a bit overwhelming or or nerve-racking because of everything that's going on in life whether there's children or there's a spouse or there's a business or there's a degree and there's an education but here's the comforting news for you God is never gonna put a cross in front of you without giving you the grace to carrier God's grace will strengthen you n equip you to carry out the cross that he's placed in front of you the other day I was thinking about my my two children and I love my two children I have a ten-year-old son named Dylan he is a man of God he tells me all the time that he wants to preach the gospel travel the world to tell everybody about Jesus and I have a seven-year-old daughter named Chloe she's she's recently saved you keep praying for her but as much as I love them I find myself pretty often embarrassed by them if you're a parent you understand if not don't judge me you haven't walked in my shoes because the truth is I find myself answering the same questions over and over again for my children even though I've given them the same exact answer every time they've asked it and it frustrates me because I start to question how high their IQ actually is because if they didn't get it the first thousand times that I've answered it there must be going something wrong in their minds like every night we serve them dinner and we we give them a plate of food them we put the plate of food in front of them and they'll do the same thing every night the same thing though they'll look down at the plate then they'll look up at each other then they'll look back down at the plate then they'll look up at us and they'll say mom dad do I have to eat all of it this drives me nuts because every night we say yes absolutely I think one night I'm just gonna mess with them I'm gonna switch it up on them like no eat all of it absolutely not we don't want you to eat all of it in fact how about we take the food right now and we throw it away and let's get you a pizza would you like that son would you like that daughter let's go on ahead and get you a happy meal we don't we don't want you to eat all of it in fact when me and your mom was at this supermarket and we did our budget to make sure that we could buy enough food we were actually trying to figure out how much food can we throw away no you know all of it it's amazing to me how often the children of God can sound like my children they complain about the portion that's been given them they've been complaining about the portion that's in front of them because they feel like they don't have the time and we're experts on excuses and God if I just eat that then I won't have to touch that or if I consume that then I could save that for later or if I handle this piece right here maybe just maybe I won't have to touch this piece over here but what you don't realize is that your portion is actually the answer to your prayer because when you said God make me a man of God and make me a woman of God the portion that he gave you were the ingredients for you to become that man of God for you to become that woman of God see if you want to develop self-discipline well you don't just pray for it and get it you need to develop it fruits aren't just grown they are stewarded they are taking care of they are nurtured and as a result of it than a tree bears fruit so many of us are complaining because God has given you an assignment he he chose you to volunteer at the Hell House or he told you to open up your home to the small group he told you to take the time off work so you could be a part of the conference that's about to happen and you've been arguing with God saying things like no God but I need the money or I need the time or I need to myself and if I opened up my home for a small group you know them people they're gonna come in my house they're gonna eat all my food and I'm never gonna get them out and we complain about the very thing that we asked for because I'm sure there's not a person in this room that wouldn't say but they don't want to be the man or the woman that God has destined them to be well if you want to be the man that God has called you to be you want to be the woman that he's called you to be eat up sit at the table take out whatever it is that he puts in front of you whether you like it or dislike it whether you're upset about the temperature or you don't prefer the temperature eat up I want to be the kind of believer that's not only the first to sit at the table but I want to be first up from the table why because I believe with God there's always more so I want to go back for seconds I want to go back for thirds I want to go back to fourths I want to go back for fifths I don't want to get stuck at the table ending up with a plate of lukewarm I want to be the kind of disciple I want to be the kind of Christian that takes the portion given I want to take the portion granted whatever it is I I don't fully understand that I don't get it what do you mean at this stage in my life you're telling me to uproot my family and and become a missionary what do you mean that at this point after I went to school and I finished the education and I got the degree now you want me to start this ministry or you want me to give myself to full-time missionary work no way and it's amazing like we know better than God and we're so convinced that our ways are greater than his ways because we're experts at responding to him and telling him who it is that we're supposed to be and so often we'll find ourselves running from who God has called us to be because then that means stop trying to become the person we want to be I want to be who God has called me to be I want to be the man the Father the brother the son the leader the pastor the preacher the whatever it is that he's called me to be that's exactly who I'm called to be I believe in over the next few moments they're gonna be many of you in this room you've been able to identify your cross you've been able to identify your purpose you've been running from it but today's the day it all changes today's the day that you look at and you say okay God I'm gonna stop my procrastinating I'm gonna stop my stalling I I got it from here whom you call you equip I'm gonna pick it up and I'm gonna carry it in God if you called me to it then I know you'll bring me through it which is important because he will bring you through no matter what happens because you know stuff will happen storms will come trials will come because here's the fact of the matter the moment your purpose is walked out your haters will come out it's just how it works the moment you say yes to God the moment you say yes to the Hell House all hell will break out in your house it's just how it works is the moment you commit to doing the will of God the enemy gets so upset and so frustrated because now now he couldn't keep you from coming to church but he had been trying to keep you from being the church and now that you have actually committed to being that leader and that disciple and that Christian oh it messes with him so what happens is he starts his drop little one-liners and in your peers ears and in your friends ears and family members so when you come back home this afternoon and you tell the spouse or you tell the brother or you tell the sister or you tell the colleague what it is you're called to do don't be shocked if they doubt you don't be shocked if they try to talk you out of it in fact I would actually suggest to you maybe you don't share with anyone or everyone just allow the conversation to be happening between you and God what is it that God is saying to you and what is it that you need to say to God allow him to speak to you because we will look for the affirmation of man but who cares about man's affirmation if I have God's confirmation they're gonna come out there you tell them that you're gonna you're gonna uproot your family so you can move closer to the church and you're going to downgrade to the smaller house they're not gonna get it when you tell them the amount of money you're gonna give to the church so that they could reach the goal for the campaign they're not going to get it but when you tell your friends that you only a few months away from graduating that after graduation you're actually not going to pursue that job but you're gonna go to the internship they're not going to get it they're they're not going to get what you're going to become the missionary they're not going to get what you're going to commit your life to the prophetic they're not going to understand why you're dedicating your life to the gospel but the fact of the matter is they didn't get it when Jesus did it and the Bible says if they doubted him they'll doubt you if they hated him they'll hate you so allow Jesus to teach us the lesson that if he walked through it so will we but also allow Jesus to teach you the lesson that even though you walk through it you will come out of it and it's the coming out of it that and only then will be the moment that you could actually say you are successful because successful it's not how the world deems it it's so funny though what the world says success the high life is actually the low life what they frown upon the low life is actually the high life is it's the truth I mean you wouldn't look at Jesus and say he was successful I mean now you would but can you imagine being there can you imagine when Jesus was walking up gal Gotha carrying that cross can you imagine what the people were shouting at him I mean I don't want to shame them because there's a strong possibility that any one of us could have been the same as them it's it's hard to see it when you're in the middle of it I mean in the middle of it Jesus is carrying that cross and he's battered and he's bruised he's bleeding he's being made fun of they're they're beating him they're hurting him they're insulting him oh I could imagine what the people were saying to him maybe not necessarily the soldiers because for them it's just another guy and not not necessarily his disciples because I'm sure they were praying for him but what about the one that that had just had just changed his mind in the moment like the one that was there when jesus healed that woman remember the woman that pushed through the crowd and got to the hem of Jesus garment maybe there was a man there that was at that crowd and thought to himself huh we thought you were the Messiah we thought you were the Christ but look at you now he almost had me when that woman was healed I knew that woman she she did have internal bleeding she did have suffering she did have pain but but but but but look at you we're waiting for a king and Kings wear crowns in you you're wearing thorns oh I could imagine I I could imagine what they were shouting at and maybe there was someone there that that ate some of the leftovers from the 5000 and I'm not sure how you did that Jesus I'm not sure I you catered all that food for all those people I'm I'm not sure how you performed that miracle but but look at you now they're beating you and hurting you there's no way you could be the Messiah we were waiting for a messiah and you almost had us you almost tricked us Kings aren't treated like this look at you isn't it amazing that what seems like failure is actually fulfillment what seems like a glitch in history was actually the gospel being fulfilled what seemed like a messy situation was actually the Messiah coming into our situation to save us and free us from all our sins the next time you think you know about success come back to this text and realize what it is that Jesus went through so that we wouldn't have to owe friends I think so often we read over this story and we don't even realize all the symbolism and all the teaching that's actually taking place in this story I mean it was in this story where Jesus reveals his purpose and teaches us and shows us what it looks like to actually walk out purpose the Bible says then there was a man coming from work his his name was Simon from Cyrene he he was just a passerby er some translations say that he was just trying to get from point A to point B can you imagine this man it's just a normal day for him he's he's coming from work he he has nothing to do with what's going on and yet he's stopped he's he's made to stop and now watch this man a criminal for all he knows to be made to now carry this cross and go up this hill and for him it's just the inconvenience for him he's just trying to get home for for him he's done but working he's hungry he wants to watch ESPN and see the tragedy of the Yankees losing Game seven [Applause] this man he's just trying to get on with his way it's just it's just a normal day for him it's just it's just it's just a regular day he's done with work he's trying to get home it he's not amazing to anybody else that would seem like a normal day for him was actually the greatest day in history it's amazing how something that could just seem like a normal day could actually be your greatest day it's just it's just a normal day it's just a normal Sunday it's just another Sunday that we go to service and we go to church and we hear the preacher preach and we worship and then we go back home and we're gonna do exactly what we did last Sunday it's just a normal day what could seem like a normal day could actually be your greatest day could actually be your most catalytic day because now in this moment this man we never heard of gets thrown into the gospel narrative here on this normal day but we know as the reader that it's not just a normal day in fact it's the greatest day in history and it's the worst day in history both at the same time it's the worst day in history because it's the day that man decides to kill God but it's the greatest day in history because it's the day that God decides to kill death Oh death where is your sting it is on this day it is in that moment that the gospel is being fulfilled and for Simon it's just and normal and here is carrying this cross fustrated I just want to go home I just just want to put the television on it's amazing how how destiny could be such an inconvenience it's only an inconvenience when destiny doesn't match up with your plans it's a bigger inconvenience if you fight for your plans over God's destiny he carries that cross carries that cross man what a picture we don't know the shape he was in we don't know if he did his lunge for the day we don't know if he was as well-built as me I know but then something amazing happens at the top of that hill see what you have to understand is that Jesus is such a great teacher and preacher that even on his way to die he's teaching he's so good that he's giving us an illustration of what it is that he's about to do this is how good he is as a communicator I'm telling you he's getting to the top of that hill and what happens there's this great exchange that happens Simon who was now carrying this cross what he thought was a favor for Jesus in this moment Jesus shows him the favor he's about to do for him and he takes back the cross now in those few steps Simon gives us a glimpse of what life should have looked like because Simon becomes the only human outside of Jesus ever to carry this cross which cross the cross of sin our cross of sin your cross of sin he's the only one ever to carry this cross and because he carries this cross he shows us what life should have looked like what our life should have been but because in this moment when he gets to the top of the hill and Jesus takes from Simon the cross that Simon should have had to take all the way he should have had to follow through all the way but because in this moment Jesus is giving us a picture of the gospel in the middle of fulfilling the gospel it's amazing it's in this moment at the top of the hill where is this great exchange is made and now Simon is giving this cross back to Jesus oh poor Simon here he is just a passerby or trying to go from point A to point B and then he's made to carry Jesus's cross friends if you read it that way then you are not reading the story properly because Simon never carried Jesus's cross Simon never touched Jesus's cross it was Jesus that carry simon's cross and Simon's sons cross and thief once cause and thief choose cross and every bad guys cost and every good guys cross all friends this is the gospel it was in that moment Simon didn't do Jesus a favor Jesus did Simon the favor because the only one the only one that ever that was never supposed to touch that cross was the only one that actually does the only one that should have never had to die on it becomes the only one that has to and the one that deserves it gets to give it away friends this is the beauty of the gospel had we been there in this moment this generation we would have our cell phones out and would be snapping pictures and we'd be creating memes instantly you know what a meme is right the it's the funny face in the middle and it's so and so be like well this mean would have read Jesus be like I got it from here and when he takes it from here he goes and he dies on the cross of sin not only for us but as us not only does he take her place but he actually gives us one of the greatest illustrations through the gospel of what it looks like to be a disciple to carry your cross see this was Jesus's cross it wasn't his cross of sin it was our cross of sin but we know that our sin is why Jesus came so then it would be fair to say that our cross of sin was Jesus's cross of purpose Jesus took on our sin so that he could take on his purpose he took on our sin so that you could take on your purpose because the one that's dealing with the guilt the shame the weight that's so keeping you down that we heard about earlier for the one that's dealing with that you're trying to carry a cross that Jesus already took from you without your permission by the way this is why it was a robbery this is why it was a heist he took from you what you didn't necessarily give up he took from humanity necessarily something they didn't even ask for some say that there were two thieves on the cross I say that there were three and the one in the middle was the righteous and greatest thief of all why because without death's permission he robbed death of its sting and without the graves permission he robbed it up himself and without humanity's permission he robbed each and every one of us past present and future each and every sin each and every mistake each and every shackle each and every one of them are broken because of the power of the cross what Jesus accomplished on that day robbed humanity forever if you are grateful for that blood if you are grateful for that cross take twenty seconds right now and with everything on the inside of you give Jesus a shout [Applause] friends the cross is that powerful it is that potent it is that great it is that beautiful but now worship team please come join me now ask yourself why why would he go through all the trouble then he just save you to save you no he saved you to purpose you see it's through your purpose that he gets his glory when you say no to your purpose you're robbing God of his glory to say no to his purpose is to discredit what it is that he achieved on that cross he didn't just save you to save you he saved you to use you he saved you to instruct from you he saved you to get from you so when you say I don't want to I don't want to do that and I don't want to pick up that cross and I don't want to be a part of that it's not about you Jesus took our cross from there so that we could rise up and take our cross from here our cross of sin was Jesus's cross of purpose Jesus's cross a purpose was the takeaway across of sin so that our hands would be free to pick up our cross of purpose for the one that's overwhelmed by your sin you're mistaken you think there's actually something I don't know Christian about you walking around with the history of your sin the resume of your mistakes and you think that that it keeps you humble then you don't realize who our God is and what it is that he expects and it wants from you because so many of you haven't picked up your cross a purpose because your hands are too full you're carrying the cross that was already taken care of and for you to carry it around is to say that what Jesus did on the cross wasn't enough so you think there's something spiritual and it's spirit so it's just not from heaven you think there's something spiritual walking around with this cross talking about what was me the mistakes I've made this shame this guilt everything I've done the failed marriage the messed up parenting the wrong business move as if you admitting it and confessing it over and over the Bible just says confess your sins and then be freed don't keep confessing your sin because on the other side of confession is freedom and the Bible says whom the Sun sets free is free indeed well if you are free indeed show me your freedom show me your praise show me your worship show me your purpose if you're free but you're walking like your belt you're not doing anyone a favor if you're free then you worship like you're free you praise like you're free you stand like you're free you walk out your purpose like you're free are there any of those people in the house today are there any free people in the house today are there any of those worshipers that will worship the father in spirit and in truth if that's you only if that's you take 30 seconds and with everything you've got give your God the highest praise in this place [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] you're free you're free you're free you're free if you stay standing in fact the rest of you jump up with this we're gonna pray for two types of people the one that's a lost in purpose and for the one that's bound by shame heard the story the other day of this man who took his family he had five daughters one wife to an amusement park and everybody was so excited they having a good time he's happy that his kids are happy and they actually all agreed to go on the same ride which is a miracle and of itself to get children to all agree so so happy that they made up their mind he says look guys I'll wait on the line and when it's our turn I'll call you and you can meet up with me but in the meantime just have fun enjoy the park well about thirty minutes and so waiting on the line his wife calls him he says hey how are you and Sarah doing he says I don't have Sarah you have Sarah Sarah I'm Sarah in that moment they realized that their baby girl was missing well the dad sent his wife one direction and he ran to the front of the park so he could look at all the children making sure that no one was taking his child and making sure that his child if we're gonna exit that park it was gonna go through him first well about 45 minutes 45 minutes of looking which if you're a parent you know that's an eternity right there the 45 minutes of looking this park attendant comes around and has his daughter in his hands the parents celebrate thank the park attendant go on with the rest of their day but can you imagine if when the dad first received their phone call so you know what honey we got four other ones we're good you know four out of five it's not bad you know that once man she she talked a lot anyway you know no because no good father would ever say that could you also imagine if the park attendant decided not to work that day what if he was having one of those moments where like you know those pity parties that we give ourselves huh I'm not going in today I'm taking a day for me I'm taking a me day I'm been working in this Park and nobody ever celebrates me or thanks me and fixing the rides and nobody ever says anything so I'm taking a me day because he takes a me day he never puts on the uniform what would happen to that child if that man never put on that uniform friends do you know that we serve a father that is not satisfied with the amount of lost children that have already come home I mean he's happy you're home he just knows that there's so many other lost children out there and who are we to say no to to putting on the uniform who are we to say no to to be in the search and rescue because we want meat on you time he already found what about the one that's so aimlessly and pointlessly walking around trying to figure out life and yet we're saying we love God and we're good we're coming in the building we're good and coming in the amusement park and enjoying everything the park has to offer and we could care less about all the other people that are walking around and don't have anywhere because we have our seat and we have our comfort zone and we have our small group and we have things just the way that we like it but friends God is saying it is time to shoot up it is time to put on the uniform it is time to pick up your cross it is time to take on your purpose and be the man that I've called you to be not the man you're pretending to be not the woman you're hoping to be but the one that I pieced you bit by bit to be when you were in your mother's room I needed you together I put you together and I have a plan for you a plan to prosper you and not to harm you but to give you our hope and a future and by you accepting that means others will be able to accept theirs yeah God could get him on his own but he decides to use us [Music] so many of you today you're wondering what your uniform looks like I don't know but I know you have one I don't know what your cross looks like but it's in front of you and you have to grab ahold of it so that you could accion how to use it if you're in this room and you are unsure what that purpose is I want you to step out of your seat I want you to come to this altar right now you're unsure what that is come on you think it's full-time ministry you're unsure comes to this altar you think it's an internship come to the psaltery some of you are questioning a job in another state come to this altar questioning some kind of business deal come to this altar [Music] [Music] yeah others of you that you know what your purpose is but you're so overwhelmed by the shame and the guilt of your past that you refuse to pick it up because you feel like you're gonna mess that up too but here's the thing God knows better than you and if he calls you he calls you he doesn't need you to be perfect he doesn't need you to be smart enough or talented enough he only needs you to be willing for that's you all the shame of your past come up to this altar right now maybe it's a failed marriage maybe it's some kind of addiction it's some kind of habit it's poor choice come up to this altar [Music] Jesus Jesus Jesus can I get you all of you that are at this altar can you just take this position look at me you probably recognize this position would be the same position you would take to carry a cross it's also the same position we take in worship because your greatest worship comes from complete obedience for the one that's dealing with shame lift up your hands guys removing that that cross that you've been carrying around he already took care of it just keep your arms and your hands wide open them but to replace it with the right cross the rest of you if you're comfortable with this would you lift up your hands in the audience the worship team is gonna join us and they're gonna start to worship over us but I need you all to start worshiping and to start praising here's why man remember in the story of Paul and Silas have you heard this story before Paul and Silas are in the prison the Bible says at the midnight hour they decided to worship and because they started to worship God started to do something in that room and as a result the other people that were bound became free now I really don't believe that the time of day had anything to do with their breakthrough I've I think it was symbolic as it was in the midnight hour however it could have been midnight or midday I really believe because of the worship and the praise and the heart they would have got the same result so that means even right now at twelve forty three on this Sunday afternoon we could we could start to see shackles come off and we could start to see people get free on the account of our praise and there's somebody here that's like me I don't know if I should praise God right now because I I just got into a fight with my spouse or I'm dealing with something else that you didn't mentioned and we'll Paul and Silas it would be good to know they were in prison shackled up in the middle of their worship it's also important to note that they didn't worship to get free they worshiped because they were free no matter their situation no matter what they were dealing with so congregation I don't care what you're dealing with lift up your hands open up your mouth and start to worship you that are up here I want you to lift up your hands I want you to open up your mouth and start to worship because this is freedom time right here the shame it's gonna be removed from you the purpose it's gonna be found in front of you come on worship team let's start to worship the name of Jesus in this place this atmosphere is about to shift your future is about to change your spirit is about to be lifted your mind is about to be renewed but we're not gonna be quiet about it come on open up your mouth [Music] [Music] we'll see [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] crazily [Music] crazy for [Applause] for we will see Oh [Music] Oh praise [Music] Oh [Music] Oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] just the voices every hand lift it up you all you are so father God we stand in your presence right now and we take full advantage of it we stand here as a broken people people in the where Oh God of our mistakes and our mess-ups whether that was a life of procrastination or a life of habitual sin I pray right now like Romans talks about would you renew our minds would you renew our minds Oh God so that we could offer ourselves as your living sacrifices and that our lives Oh God would be a spiritual act of worship before you if you find pleasure Oh God in our parenting Oh God than be pleased in that oh God if you find pleasure in our sleeting our business Oh God or making a move or making a decision or being consistent where we're at then then take that and use it Oh God for you but God we're so grateful grateful that you would die for us so grateful that you would die as us so that we can be in a predicament today that we would even be allowed to take on everything it is that you have for us and God forgive us O God for our past thank you for not treating us as our sins deserve we stand here fully committed to the assignment wherever it is you want us to go we'll go whatever it is you're calling us to do that's exactly what we'll do because you are our God and we are your children Trinity if you agree with that with everything in you take the next 20 seconds and give your God give your Lord come on give your Jesus out loud standing ovation in this place come on [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] you
